1The effects of Haversian fluid pressure and harmonic axial loading on the poroelastic behaviors of a single osteon显示文摘In order to well understand the mechanism of the mechanotransduction in bone,we propose a new model of transverse isotropic and poroelastic osteon cylinder considering Haversian fluid pressure.The analytical pore pressure and velocity solutions are obtained to examine the fluid transport behavior and pressure distribution in a loaded osteon on two different exterior surface cases.Case I is stress free and fully permeable and case II is impermeable.The following are the results obtained.(i) The Haversian fluid may not be ignored because it can enlarge the whole osteonal fluid pressure field,and it bears the external loads together with the solid skeleton.(ii) The increase of both axial strain amplitude and frequency can result in the increase of fluid pressure and velocity amplitudes,while in case II,the frequency has little effect on the fluid pressure amplitude.(iii) Under the same loading conditions,the pressure amplitude in case II is larger than that in case I,while the velocity amplitude is smaller than that in case I.This model permits the linking of the external loads to the osteonal fluid pressure and velocity,which may be a stimulus to the mechanotransduction of bone remodeling signals.WU XiaoGang CHEN WeiYi GAO ZhiPeng GUO HongMei WANG LiLi 2012Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2012,55,9:7
2Quadrature-based moment methods for the population balance equation: An algorithm review显示文摘The dispersed phase in multiphase flows can be modeled by the population balance model(PBM). A typical population balance equation(PBE) contains terms for spatial transport, loss/growth and breakage/coalescence source terms. The equation is therefore quite complex and difficult to solve analytically or numerically. The quadrature-based moment methods(QBMMs) are a class of methods that solve the PBE by converting the transport equation of the number density function(NDF) into moment transport equations. The unknown source terms are closed by numerical quadrature. Over the years, many QBMMs have been developed for different problems, such as the quadrature method of moments(QMOM), direct quadrature method of moments(DQMOM),extended quadrature method of moments(EQMOM), conditional quadrature method of moments(CQMOM),extended conditional quadrature method of moments(ECQMOM) and hyperbolic quadrature method of moments(Hy QMOM). In this paper, we present a comprehensive algorithm review of these QBMMs. The mathematical equations for spatially homogeneous systems with first-order point processes and second-order point processes are derived in detail. The algorithms are further extended to the inhomogeneous system for multiphase flows, in which the computational fluid dynamics(CFD) can be coupled with the PBE. The physical limitations and the challenging numerical problems of these QBMMs are discussed. 3Quantifying public health benefits of environmental strategy of PM2.5 air quality management in Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region,China显示文摘In 2013,China issued 'Air Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan(Action Plan)' to improve air quality.To assess the benefits of this program in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei(BTH)region,where the density of population and emissions vary greatly,we simulated the air quality benefit based on Ben MAP to satisfy the Action Plan.In this study,we estimate PM_(2.5) concentration using Voronoi spatial interpolation method on a grid with a spatial resolution of 1 × 1 km^2.Combined with the exposure-response function between PM_(2.5) concentration and health endpoints,health effects of PM_(2.5) exposure are analyzed.The economic loss is assessed by using the willingness to pay(WTP) method and human capital(HC) method.When the PM_(2.5) concentration falls by 25% in BTH and reached 60 μg/m^3 in Beijing,the avoiding deaths will be in the range of 3175 to 14051 based on different functions each year.Of the estimated mortality attributable to all causes,3117 annual deaths were due to lung cancer,1924 – 6318 annual deaths were due to cardiovascular,and343 – 1697 annual deaths were due to respiratory.Based on WTP,the estimated monetary values for the avoided cases of all cause mortality,cardiovascular mortality,respiratory mortality and lung cancer ranged from 1110 to 29632,673 to 13325,120 to 3579,1091 to 6574 million yuan,respectively.Based on HC,the corresponding values for the avoided cases of these four mortalities were 267 to 1178,161 to 529,29 to 143 and 261 million yuan,respectively.Li Chen Mengshuang Shi Suhuan Li Shuang Gao Hui Zhang Yanling Sun Jian Mao Zhipeng Bai Zhongliang Wang Jiang Zhou 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,7:6
4Breeding for Resistance to Tomato Bacterial Diseases in China:Challenges and Prospects显示文摘Four bacterial diseases including bacterial canker caused by Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. michiganensis, bacterial speck caused by Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato, bacterial spot caused by at least four Xanthomonas species, and bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum are among the most devastating diseases in tomato(Solanum lycopersicum) production in China. However, almost no commercial cultivars currently growing in the country are resistant to these four bacterial diseases because little effort has been devoted to breeding for resistance. In addition,the existence of great natural variation in each pathogen and the quantitative inheritance of resistance add to the difficulties of developing cultivars with resistance to these diseases. In the past 20 years, molecular markers tightly linked to genes conferring resistance to these four bacterial diseases have been identified or gene-based markers have been developed, which may circumvent some of the problems associated with phenotypic selection for resistance to multiple bacterial pathogens and races. 5Optimization of Cutting Parameters for Trade-off Among Carbon Emissions, Surface Roughness, and Processing Time显示文摘As the manufacturing industry is facing increasingly serious environmental problems, because of which carbon tax policies are being implemented, choosing the optimum cutting parameters during the machining process is crucial for automobile panel dies in order to achieve synergistic minimization of the environment impact, product quality, and processing efficiency. This paper presents a processing task-based evaluation method to optimize the cutting parameters, considering the trade-off among carbon emissions, surface roughness, and processing time. Three objective models and their relationships with the cutting parameters were obtained through input–output, response surface, and theoretical analyses, respectively. Examples of cylindrical turning were applied to achieve a central composite design(CCD), and relative validation experiments were applied to evaluate the proposed method. The experiments were conducted on the CAK50135 di lathe cutting of AISI 1045 steel, and NSGA-Ⅱ was used to obtain the Pareto fronts of the three objectives. Based on the TOPSIS method, the Pareto solution set was ranked to find the optimal solution to evaluate and select the optimal cutting parameters. An S/N ratio analysis and contour plots were applied to analyze the influence of each decision variable on the optimization objective. Finally, the changing rules of a single factor for each objective were analyzed. 6Topological domain states and magnetoelectric properties in multiferroic nanostructures显示文摘Multiferroic nanostructures have been attracting tremendous attention over the past decade, due to their rich cross-coupling effects and prospective electronic applications. In particular, the emergence of some exotic phenomena in size-confined multiferroic systems, including topological domain states such as vortices, center domains, and skyrmion bubble domains, has opened a new avenue to a number of intriguing physical properties and functionalities, and thus underpins a wide range of applications in future nanoelectronic devices. It is also highly appreciated that nano-domain engineering provides a pathway to control the magnetoelectric properties, which is promising for future energy-efficient spintronic devices. In recent years, this field, still in its infancy, has witnessed a rapid development and a number of challenges too.In this article, we shall review the recent advances in the emergent domain-related exotic phenomena in multiferroic nanostructures. Specific attention is paid to the topological domain structures and related novel physical behaviors as well as the electric-field-driven magnetic switching via domain engineering. 7Effects of regulated deficit irrigation on soil salinity,physiological processes and fruit quality of gray jujube under desert conditions显示文摘Regulated deficit irrigation(RDI)was applied to gray jujube trees in an oasis region,to determine the effects of this irrigation system on soil salinity,gray jujube physiological processes,fruit yield,and fruit quality.Treatments consisted of severe,moderate and low deficit irrigation(irrigated with 85%,70%and 55%of CK,respectively)at the flowering stage to fruit set stage.During the other growth stages,all treatments were irrigated with 80%of pan evaporation,which was the same as that in control.The results indicated that soil salinity was enhanced during the periods of water stress,but the high value of soil salinity declined by 3.48%-37.27%,at each depth,after irrigation was resumed.RDI caused a decline in the photosynthetic rate,transpiration rate,and stomatal conductance,but enhanced the water use efficiency of the leaves.However,the leaf photosynthetic rate was effectively enhanced after the recovery of irrigation,especially in the moderate deficit irrigation treatment,which exceeded the control.This led to an improved fruit yield,which was 9.57%higher than that of the control.The deficit treatments caused a significant increase in the soluble solid content,soluble sugar content,single fruit weight and sugar/acid ratio.Enhanced vitamin C content,resulting from deficit treatments,has also been observed in the gray jujube.Therefore,this research shows that RDI provides some benefits in the production of gray jujube trees in desert conditions.Zhipeng Liu Chengli Zhu Shuyu Wu Weihua Guo Yitikaer Abudushalamu Xiyun Jiao Shipei Gao Jie Wang 2019International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2019,12,3:3
8Marine Mobile Wireless Channel Modeling Based on Improved Spatial Partitioning Ray Tracing显示文摘In 5G era,it is expected to achieve wireless network coverage including offshore areas.Modeling of marine wireless channels is the basis of constructing a marine communication system.In this paper,a communication scene between an unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)and a boat is simulated to study the marine wireless channel.Firstly,an improved spatial partitioning ray tracing algorithm is proposed to track the propagation path of electromagnetic waves at sea surface.Secondly,a mobile channel is simulated and modeled based on the track results.Finally,a loss measurement is carried out in the coastal waters based on the simple wireless channel loss measuring platform,and a path loss propagation model is built.Then we compare the actual measurement data with the simulation results and find that the two are have good consistency,which further verifies the reliability of the simulation.Zhibin Gao Bang Liu Zhipeng Cheng Canbin Chen Lianfen Huang 2020China Communications2020,17,3:3
9Optical fiber SPR biosensor complying with a 3D composite hyperbolic metamaterial and a graphene film显示文摘In the present study, an optical fiber surface plasmon resonance(SPR) biosensor was developed for measuring time-and concentration-dependent DNA hybridization kinetics. Its design complies with a 3D Au∕Al2O3 multilayer composite hyperbolic metamaterial(HMM), a graphene film, and a D-shaped plastic optical fiber.According to the numerical simulation and the experimental demonstration, the SPR peak of the designed biosensor can be effectively altered in the range of visible to near-infrared by varying the HMM structure. The sensitivity of the appliance was shown to achieve a value of up to 4461 nm/RIU, allowing its applicability for bulk refractive index sensing. 10A learning-based flexible autonomous motion control method for UAV in dynamic unknown environments显示文摘This paper presents a deep reinforcement learning(DRL)-based motion control method to provide unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)with additional flexibility while flying across dynamic unknown environments autonomously.This method is applicable in both military and civilian fields such as penetration and rescue.The autonomous motion control problem is addressed through motion planning,action interpretation,trajectory tracking,and vehicle movement within the DRL framework.Novel DRL algorithms are presented by combining two difference-amplifying approaches with traditional DRL methods and are used for solving the motion planning problem.An improved Lyapunov guidance vector field(LGVF)method is used to handle the trajectory-tracking problem and provide guidance control commands for the UAV.In contrast to conventional motion-control approaches,the proposed methods directly map the sensorbased detections and measurements into control signals for the inner loop of the UAV,i.e.,an end-to-end control.The training experiment results show that the novel DRL algorithms provide more than a 20%performance improvement over the state-ofthe-art DRL algorithms.The testing experiment results demonstrate that the controller based on the novel DRL and LGVF,which is only trained once in a static environment,enables the UAV to fly autonomously in various dynamic unknown environments.Thus,the proposed technique provides strong flexibility for the controller.WAN Kaifang LI Bo GAO Xiaoguang HU Zijian YANG Zhipeng 2021Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2021,32,6:2

12In-situ generation and global property profiling of metal nanoclusters by ultraviolet laser dissociation-mass spectrometry显示文摘Metal nanoclusters are promising nanomaterials with unique properties, but only a few ones with specific numbers of metal atoms can be obtained and studied up to now. In this study, we establish a new paradigm of in-situ generation and global study of metal nanoclusters with different sizes, constitutions, and charge states, including both accurate constitution characterization and global activity profiling. The complex mixtures of metal nanoclusters are produced by employing single-pulsed 193-nm laser dissociation of monolayer-protected cluster(MPC) precursors within a high-resolution mass spectrometry(HRMS). More than400 types of bare gold nanoclusters including novel multiply charged(2+ and 3+), S-/P-doped, and silver alloy ones can be efficiently generated and accurately characterized. A distinct size(1 to 142 atoms)-and charge(1+ to 3+)-hierarchy reactivity is clearly observed for the first time. 13Relay Node Placement with Base Stations in Wireless Sensor Networks Fault-Tolerant显示文摘It has been proposed to deploy relay nodes for the sake of prolonging Wireless sensor networks(WSN)lifetime, such that sensors transmit the sensed data to them which in turn delivers the data to base stations. For survivability requirements, relay placements which considers fault tolerant ability have been noticed and studied. While related works are limited or most existing works don't take factors such as fault tolerance, or base stations into account comprehensively in two tired WSN. We focus on fault tolerant relay node placement in two-tiered heterogeneous WSN with base stations. As far as we know,fault tolerance contains two fundamental aspects, for one is multi-coverage and the second is multi-path. It is a NPhard problem and figure out an approximation, whose approximation ratio is enhanced to be(18 +). While a sub-problem approximation is also described as supplementary. 15Inactivation of Cipc alters the expression of Per1 but not circadian rhythms in mice显示文摘Circadian clocks are comprised of self-sustained transcriptional/translational feedback loops, which regulate the rhythms of physiology and behavior in mammals. CLOCK-interacting protein, Circadian(CIPC), has been indicated as an additional negative-feedback regulator of the circadian clock in vitro, although its physiological roles in circadian clock are unknown. Here, we generated Cipc homozygous knockout(Cipc-/-) mice and assessed the resultant circadian phenotypes. Surprisingly, the m RNA expression profiles of core clock genes in the liver of Cipc-/- mice showed no significant differences from that in wild-type mice except for Per1. Cipc-/- mice displayed normal locomotor rhythm and entrained activity pattern in both 12:12 light-dark cycle and constant dark cycle. Furthermore, deletion of Cipc in lungs and adipose tissues did not influence their peripheral clock. 16Linking moisture and near-surface wind with winter temperature to reveal the Holocene climate evolution in arid Xinjiang region of China显示文摘An increasing number of palaeo-climatic records have been reported to identify the Holocene climate history in the arid Xinjiang region of northwest China. However, few studies have fully considered the internal linkages within the regional climate system, which may limit our understanding of the forcing mechanisms of Holocene climate change in this region. Here, we systematically consider three major issues of the moisture/precipitation, temperature and near-surface wind relevant to the Holocene climate history of Xinjiang. First, despite there still has debated for the Holocene moisture evolution in this region, more climatic reconstructions from lake sediments, loess, sand-dunes and peats support a long-term regional wetting trend. Second, temperature records from ice cores, peats and stalagmites demonstrate a long-term winter warming trend during the Holocene in middle-to high-latitudes of Asia. Third, recent studies of aeolian sedimentary sequences reveal that the near-surface winds in winter gradually weakened during the Holocene, whereas the winter mid-latitude Westerlies strengthened in the Tienshan Mountains. Based on this evidence, in the arid Xinjiang region we propose an early to middle Holocene relatively cold and dry interval, with strong near-surface winds;and a warmer, wetter interval with weaker near-surface winds in the middle to late Holocene during winter. Additionally,we develop a conceptual model to explain the pattern of Holocene climate changes in this region.From the early to the late Holocene, the increasing atmospheric COcontent and winter insolation,and the shrinking of high-latitude continental ice-sheets, resulted in increasing winter temperatures in middle to high latitudes in the Northern Hemisphere. Subsequently, the increased winter temperature strengthened the winter mid-latitude Westerlies and weakened the Siberian high-pressure system,which caused an increase in winter precipitation and a decrease in near-surface wind strength. This scenario is strongly supported by evidence from geological records, climate simulation results, and modern reanalysis data. 19Discrimination of brownheart of Korla pear using vibration frequency spectrum technique显示文摘The purpose of this work was to use a nondestructive method for detecting the brownheart of Korla pear to reduce the chance of infection among pears without brownheart.A mechanical impulse method based on vibration testing system was used to excite the fruits.The consistent acquisition signal indicated that the test is repeatable at the same positions of fruit equator(cheek).A remarkable frequency signal was excited at 9-12 N force by a rubber tipped hammer.The dominant frequency was identified at the maximum response magnitude to assess the internal defect,and the result was not influenced by the distances between the defect borders and the excitation points.The sharp increase of defect mass could significantly affect the dominant frequency.Relationship between the dominant response frequency(fd)and the defect mass percentage(ω)was characterized by an equation fd=410.649e-0.0833ω+261.947 with a good correlation coefficient(R2=0.925).A defect mass of 2.281%was determined as a discrimination threshold.Once the threshold exceeded 2.281%,the defective pear could be classified with a high accuracy rate of 96.7%.This finding would provide guidance for determining the optimal detecting time to the brownheart of Korla pears,according to the specific storage conditions when the vibration frequency spectrum method is deployed.Xu Hubo Wu Jie Wang Zhaopeng Gao Yongmao Wang Zhipeng Zhao Zhengqiang 2017International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2017,10,2:1
20Early specializations for mimicry and defense in a Jurassic stick insect显示文摘Mimicry and secondary defense are staples among predator–prey interactions.Among insects,the stick and leaf insects are masters of camouflage.Nonetheless,a meager understanding of their origin and early mimetic evolution persists.Here,we report the earliest mimetic and defensive strategies of a stick insect from the Middle Jurassic of China,Aclistophasma echinulatum gen.et sp.nov.,exquisitely preserving abdominal extensions and femoral spines.The distribution of these characteristics mapped onto the phylogeny of Phasmatodea reveals that abdominal extensions and femoral spines developed multiple times during the evolution of stick insects,and indicates that the origin of abdominal extensions predates other modifications,while tergal extensions predate other expansions of the body,such as those of the sterna and pleura,as well as defensive femoral spines.The new fossil provides clues into early antipredator defensive strategies,allows inferences as to the potential environment and predators,and reveals the mimetic and defensive mechanisms of stick insects from 165 million years ago.Hongru Yang Chaofan Shi Michael S.Engel Zhipeng Zhao Dong Ren Taiping Gao 2021National Science Review2021,8,1:1
