| 1 | Effects of Predeformation on the Reverse Martensitic Transformation of TiNi Shape Memory Alloy显示文摘DSC was used to study the effects of predeformation on the reverse martensitic transformation of near-equiatomic TiNi alloy. Both the start temperature A. and the finish temperature Af of the reverse transformation increased with increasing degree of predeformation, but the algebraic difference between A. and Af decreased with increasing predeformation until it reached a minimum value, then remained unchanged with further deformation. Transformation heat also increased with increasing predeformation until it reached a maximum value, then decreased with further predeformation. | 2 | Incidence and mortality of primary bone cancers in China, 2014显示文摘Objective: In this study, we aimed to estimate the updated incidence and mortality of primary bone cancers based on population-based cancer registration data in 2014, collected by the National Central Cancer Registry of China(NCCRC).Methods: In 2017, 339 registries' data were qualified based on data quality criteria set down by the NCCRC.Cases of primary bone cancers were retrieved from the national database. We estimated numbers of primary bone cancer cases and deaths in China using age-specific rates and corresponding national population stratified by area,sex, age-group(0, 1-4, 5-9, 10-14, …, 85+). Chinese standard population in 2000 and Segi's World population were applied for the calculation of age-standardized incidence and mortality rates.Results: In 2014, 24,000 primary bone cancer cases and 17,200 deaths attributable to primary bone cancers were estimated to have occurred in China. The crude incidence rate of primary bone cancers was 1.76/100,000, with agestandardized incidence rate by Chinese standard population(ASIRC) and by World standard population(ASIRW)being 1.35/100,000 and 1.32/100,000, respectively. The crude mortality rate of primary bone cancers was1.26/100,000, with age-standardized mortality rate by Chinese standard population(ASMRC) and by World standard population(ASMRW) being 0.88/100,000 and 0.86/100,000, respectively. Age-specific incidence curve was bimodally distributed with age, with the first peak occurring in the second decade of the life and the second peak in the elderly. Males had higher crude and age-standardized rates for both incidence and mortality compared with females. Both crude and age-standardized incidence rates were higher in rural areas than in urban areas, so were the crude and age-standardized mortality rates.Conclusions: This population-based study presents the most recently available estimates on primary bone cancers in China, revealing that the males are 1.34 times as much as females suffering from primary bone cancers and the adolescents in puberty and the elderly are predominantly affected groups by these cancers. | 3 | Cancer incidence and mortality in Guangdong province,2012显示文摘Objective: To estimate the cancer incidence and mortality in 2012 in Guangdong province by analyzing the cancer data of selected population-based cancer registries in Guangdong province in 2012.Methods: Eight of nine population-based cancer registries submitted cancer data to the Guangdong Provincial Centre for Disease Control and Prevention(Guangdong CDC), whose data met the data quality criteria were included for analysis. The statistics of selected registries, stratified by areas, gender, age and cancer types, were used to estimate the cancer incidence and mortality in 2012 in Guangdong province according to the population data in Guangdong province. Segi's population and the national census population in 2000 were used for calculating the age-standardized rates(ASR). Results: A total of 15,084,942 people, accounted for 17.47% of all population in Guangdong province, were covered in 8 selected population-based cancer registries in 2012. The percentage of cases morphologically verified(MV%) and the percentage of death certificate-only cases(DCO%) were 72.84% and 0.87%, respectively, and the mortality/incidence(M/I) ratio was 0.56. It was estimated that there were 211,300 new cancer cases and 117,300 cancer deaths. The incidence crude rate(CR), the ASR by Chinese standard population(ASRC) and by world standard population(ASRW), and the accumulated rate(AR)(0-74 years) were 250.20/100,000(265.39/100,000 in males, 234.29/100,000 in females), 207.04/100,000, 201.34/100,000 and 22.91%, respectively, in Guangdong province in 2012. The incidence CR and ASRC were 267.25/100,000 and 221.43/100,000 in urban areas, and 215.51/100,000 and 178.77/100,000 in rural areas, respectively. The death CR, ASRC, ASRW and AR(0-74 years) were 148.44/100,000(190.95/100,000 in males, 105.06/100,000 in females), 103.73/100,000, 102.44/100,000 and 11.68%, respectively, in Guangdong province in 2012. The death CR and ASRC were 164.57/100,000 and 105.46/100,000 in urban areas, and 124.63/100,000 and 99.97/100,000 in rural areas, respectively. Top 5 cancers were lung cancer, liver cancer, female breast cancer, colon cancer and nasopharyngeal cancers(NPC), and top 5 death cancers were lung cancer, liver cancer, colon cancer, stomach cancer, and NPC in Guangdong province in 2012.Conclusions: Lung cancer, liver cancer, female breast cancer, colon cancer and NPC were the major economic cancer burdens and health concerns in Guangdong province in 2012. | 5 | Functional assembly of root-associated microbial consortia improves nutrient efficiency and yield in soybean显示文摘Root-associated microbes are critical for plant growth and nutrient acquisition. However, scant information exists on optimizing communities of beneficial root-associated microbes or the mechanisms underlying their interactions with host plants. In this report, we demonstrate that rootassociated microbes are critical influencers of host plant growth and nutrient acquisition. Three synthetic communities(SynComs) were constructed based on functional screening of 1,893 microbial strains isolated from root-associated compartments of soybean plants. Functional assemblage of SynComs promoted significant plant growth and nutrient acquisition under both N/P nutrient deficiency and sufficiency conditions.Field trials further revealed that application of SynComs stably and significantly promoted plant growth, facilitated N and P acquisition, and subsequently increased soybean yield. Among the tested communities, SynCom1 exhibited the greatest promotion effect, with yield increases of up to 36.1% observed in two field sites. Further RNA-seq implied that SynCom application systemically regulates N and P signaling networks at the transcriptional level, which leads to increased representation of important growth pathways, especially those related to auxin responses. | 7 | Properties of oxide films grown on 25Cr20Ni alloy in air-H_2O and H_2-H_2O atmospheres显示文摘The oxidation kinetics, surface morphology and phase structure of oxide films grown on 25Cr20Ni alloy in air-H2O and H2-H2O atmospheres at 900 °C for 20 h were investigated. The anti-coking performance and resistance to carburization of the two oxide films were compared using 25Cr20Ni alloy tubes with an inner diameter of 10 mm and a length of 850 mm in a bench scale naphtha steam pyrolysis unit. The oxidation kinetics followed a parabolic law in an air-H2O atmosphere and a logarithm law in a H2-H2O atmosphere in the steady-state stage. The oxide film grown in the air-H2O atmosphere had cracks where the elements Fe and Ni were enriched and the un-cracked area was covered with octahedral-shaped MnCr2O4 spinels and Cr1.3Fe0.7O3 oxide clusters, while the oxide film grown in the H2-H2O atmosphere was intact and completely covered with dense standing blade MnCr2O4 spinels. In the pyrolysis tests, the anti-coking performance and resistance to carburization of the oxide film grown in the H2-H2O atmosphere were far better than that in the air-H2O atmosphere. The mass of coke formed in the oxide film grown in the H2-H2O atmosphere was less than 10% of that in the air-H2O atmosphere. The Cr1.3Fe0.7O3 oxide clusters converted into Cr23C6 carbides and the cracks were filled with carbon in the oxide film grown in the air-H2O atmosphere after repeated coking and decoking tests, while the dense standing blade MnCr2O4 spinels remained unchanged in the oxide film grown in the H2-H2O atmosphere. | 9 | Smartphone-powered iontophoresis-microneedle array patch for controlled transdermal delivery显示文摘The incidence rate of diabetes has been increasing every year in nearly all nations and regions.The traditional control of diabetes using transdermal insulin delivery by metal needles is generally associated with pain and potential infections.While microneedle arrays(MAs)have emerged as painless delivery techniques,the integration of MA systems with electronic devices to precisely control drug delivery has rarely been realized.In this study,we developed an iontophoresis-microneedle array patch(IMAP)powered by a portable smartphone for the active and controllable transdermal delivery of insulin.The IMAP in situ integrates iontophoresis and charged nanovesicles into one patch,achieving a one-step drug administration strategy of“penetration,diffusion and iontophoresis”.The MA of the IMAP is first pressed on the skin to create microholes and then is retracted,followed by the iontophoresis delivery of insulin-loaded nanovesicles through these microholes in an electrically controlled manner.This method has synergistically and remarkably enhanced controlled insulin delivery.The amount of insulin can be effectively regulated by the IMAP by applying different current intensities.This in vivo study has demonstrated that the IMAP effectively delivers insulin and produces robust hypoglycemic effects in a type-1 diabetic rat model,with more advanced controllability and efficiency than delivery by a pristine microneedle or iontophoresis.The IMAP system shows high potential for diabetes therapy and the capacity to provide active as well as long-term glycemic regulation without medical staff care. | Jingbo Yang Yanjun Li Rui Ye Ying Zheng Xiangling Li Yuzhen Chen Xi Xie Lelun Jiang | 2020 | Microsystems & Nanoengineering2020,6,1: | 3 |

| 11 | The Synthesis of TiNi and Composite Particles in Molten Salts显示文摘A novel process for synthesizing TiNi and TiNi/TiC particles, called the high-temperature salt-melting method, is discussed in this paper. So far as this method is concerned, the molten salts are a reaction medium that does not take part in the chemical reaction but can be easily dissolved by water washing. With this method, TiNi shape memory alloy and TiNi/TiC composite particles were prepared in molten salts at 680-850℃. TiNi particles, ranging from 100 nm to several microns in diameter, are obtained and the reverse martensitic transformation is confirmed in these particles by the differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The reaction temperature and the holding time have no significant influence on the particle size, morphology or the reverse martensitic transformation characteristics. | 12 | Self-immolative micellar drug delivery:The linker matters显示文摘Redox-responsive polymer-drug conjugate micelles are excellent nanoscale vehicles for self-immolative intracellular drug delivery.To covalently connect the polymer and drug,disulfide-bearing linkers,such as 3,3'-dithiodipropionic acid (DDPA) and 4,4'-dithiodibutyric add (DDBA),are used.In this paper,we report the influence of linker length on the therapeutic outcome of redox-sensitive conjugate micelles.Curcumin was selected as the model drug and it was conjugated to a multivalent methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-polylysine copolymer with DDPA or DDBA as the linker.The obtained two polymer-curcumin conjugates were amphiphilic and could self-assemble into micelles that have a hydrodynamic diameter less than 100 nm.The loading of curcumin in both micelles was above 20% (w/w).Irrespective of the linker type,micelle disassembly was observed due to the collapse of the disulfide bond in a reducing environment.However,the rate of curcumin release was much faster with the DDBA linker than with the DDPA linker as the side product was a 5-membered ring with a low ring strain.The linker length-induced variation of curcumin release kinetics caused a significant difference in the intracellular drug concentration and a higher cytotoxicity was witnessed in three model cell lines (HeLa,PC3,and 4T1) for the micelles with a DDBA linker compared to those containing a DDPA linker.As expected,this phenomenon was also observed in HeLa tumor-bearing nude mice in vivo.The current work highlights the significance of linker length in engineering redox-responsive on-demand delivery systems. | Xuan Meng Min Gao Jian Deng Di Lu Aiping Fan Dan Ding Deling Kong Zheng Wang Yanjun Zhao | 2018 | Nano Research2018,11,12: | 2 |
