2Full-space Cloud of Random Points with a Scrambling Metasurface显示文摘With the rapid progress in computer science,including artificial intelligence,big data and cloud computing,full-space spot generation can be pivotal to many practical applications,such as facial recognition,motion detection,augmented reality,etc.These opportunities may be achieved by using diffractive optical elements(DOEs)or light detection and ranging(LIDAR).However,DOEs suffer from intrinsic limitations,such as demanding depth-controlled fabrication techniques,large thicknesses(more than the wavelength),Lambertian operation only in half space,etc.LIDAR nevertheless relies on complex and bulky scanning systems,which hinders the miniaturization of the spot generator.Here,inspired by a Lambertian scatterer,we report a Hermitian-conjugate metasurface scrambling the incident light to a cloud of random points in full space with compressed information density,functioning in both transmission and reflection spaces.Over 4044 random spots are experimentally observed in the entire space,covering angles at nearly 90°.Our scrambling metasurface is made of amorphous silicon with a uniform subwavelength height,a nearly continuous phase coverage,a lightweight,flexible design,and low-heat dissipation.Thus,it may be mass produced by and integrated into existing semiconductor foundry designs.Our work opens important directions for emerging 3D recognition sensors,such as motion sensing,facial recognition,and other applications.Zile Li Qi Dai Muhammad Q.Mehmood Guangwei Hu Boris Luk’yanchuk Jin Tao Chenglong Hao Inki Kim Heonyeong Jeong Guoxing Zheng Shaohua Yu Andrea Alù Junsuk Rho Cheng-Wei Qiu 2018Light(Science & Applications)2018,7,1:6
3Efficacy of Yangyin Yiqi Huoxue Granule (养阴益气活血颗粒) in Treatment of Ischemic Stroke Patients with Qi-Yin Deficiency and Blood Stasis Syndrome: A Randomized, Double-Blind, Multicenter, Phase-2 Clinical Trial显示文摘Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Yangyin Yiqi Huoxue Granule(养阴益气活血颗粒,YYHG)in the treatment of ischemic stroke(IS)patients with qi-yin deficiency and blood stasis syndrome(QYDBSS),and to explore its effective dosage.Methods The total of 288 patients were randomly assigned to the YYHG high-dose,YYHG low-dose,positive control(administered Xiaoshuantong Granule,XSTG,消栓通颗粒),or placebo control(administered inert granule)groups(72 cases per group)by software-drived competitive block randomization.The trial was conducted for a 28-day period,with a 180-day follow-up period.The primary outcome was the comprehensive curative evaluation,and secondary outcomes were the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)score,Barthel activities of daily living(ADL)index score,the quality of life index(QLI)score,and the Chinese medicine syndrome(CMS)score.All analyses were done on an intention-to-treat basis.The clinical safety was also assessed.Results The total of 288 participants were recruited between June 1,2008 and September 30,2009,and 287 patients received intervention;the treatment groups were well balanced at baseline.The comprehensive cure rates of YYHG high-dose,low-dose,positive and placebo control groups were 63.38%,31.94%,36.11%and 6.14%,respectively;there was a statistical difference between the two groups(P<0.01),while the high-dose YYHG treatment group was significantly higher than the other 3 groups(P<0.01).The improvement of NIHSS,ADL,QLI and CMS scores of the YYHG high-dose and low-dose groups was significantly better than that of the positive control group and the placebo control group(P<0.05).In terms of improving the classification of the NIHSS scale and the assessment of the ADL scale,the YYHG high-dose group was significantly better than the other three groups(P<0.05),and the YYHG low-dose group was better than the placebo control group(P<0.01).At the same time,except for the QLI score,the high-dose group was better than the low-dose group(P<0.05).In terms of safety,adverse reactions after YYHG treatment were generally mild(3.78%),and no serious adverse reactions have been reported.Conclusion YYHG is safe and effective in the treatment of IS patients with QYDBSS.WANG Yu YANG Jie-hong WAN Hai-tong HE Yu XU Bin Al Chang-shan ZHOU Hui-fen YU Li WAN Hao-fang BIE Xiao-dong 2021Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2021,27,11:4
4Multifunctional resonant wavefront-shaping meta-optics based on multilayer and multi-perturbation nonlocal metasurfaces显示文摘Photonic devices rarely provide both elaborate spatial control and sharp spectral control over an incoming wavefront.In optical metasurfaces,for example,the localized modes of individual meta-units govern the wavefront shape over a broad bandwidth,while nonlocal lattice modes extended over many unit cells support high quality-factor resonances.Here,we experimentally demonstrate nonlocal dielectric metasurfaces in the near-infrared that offer both spatial and spectral control of light,realizing metalenses focusing light exclusively over a narrowband resonance while leaving off-resonant frequencies unaffected.Our devices attain this functionality by supporting a quasi-bound state in the continuum encoded with a spatially varying geometric phase.We leverage this capability to experimentally realize a versatile platform for multispectral wavefront shaping where a stack of metasurfaces,each supporting multiple independently controlled quasi-bound states in the continuum,molds the optical wavefront distinctively at multiple wavelengths and yet stay transparent over the rest of the spectrum.Such a platform is scalable to the visible for applications in augmented reality and transparent displays.STEPHANIE CMALEK ADAM COVERVIG ANDREA ALÙ NANFANG YU 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,9:3
5TBK1-medicated DRP1 phosphorylation orchestrates mitochondrial dynamics and autophagy activation in osteoarthritis显示文摘Mitochondrial dynamics,including mitochondrial fission and fusion,are critical for maintaining mitochondrial functions.Evidence shows that TANK-binding kinase 1(TBK1)regulates mitochondrial fusion and fission and then mitophagy.Since a previous study demonstrates a strong correlation between mitophagy and osteoarthritis(OA),we herein investigated the potential role of TBK1 in OA process and mitochondrial functions.We demonstrated a strong correlation between TBK1 and OA,evidenced by significantly downregulated expression of TBK1 in cartilage tissue samples of OA patients and in the chondrocytes of aged mice,as well as TNF-α-stimulated phosphorylation of TBK1 in primary mouse chondrocytes.TBK1 overexpression significantly attenuated TNF-α-induced apoptosis and abnormal mitochondrial function in primary mouse chondrocytes.Furthermore,TBK1 overexpression induced remodeling of mitochondrial morphology by directly phosphorylating dynamin-related protein 1(DRP1)at Ser637,abolishing the fission of DRP1 and preventing its fragmentation function.Moreover,TBK1 recruitment and DRP1 phosphorylation at Ser637 was necessary for engulfing damaged mitochondria by autophagosomal membranes during mitophagy.Moreover,we demonstrated that APMK/ULK1 signaling contributed to TBK1 activation.In OA mouse models established by surgical destabilization of the medial meniscus,intraarticular injection of lentivirus-TBK1 significantly ameliorated cartilage degradation via regulation of autophagy and alleviation of cell apoptosis.In conclusion,our results suggest that the TBK1/DRP1 pathway is involved in OA and pharmacological targeting of the TBK1-DRP1 cascade provides prospective therapeutic benefits for the treatment of OA.Sun-li Hu Abdullah Al Mamun Jian Shaw Sun-long Li Yi-feng Shi Xue-man Jin Ying-xin Yu Chao-zhi Pang Ze-yang Li Jia-jie Lu Yue-piao Cai Xiang-yang Wang Jian Xiao 2023Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2023,44,3:2
6Sharkskin-Inspired Magnetoactive Reconfigurable Acoustic Metamaterials显示文摘Most of the existing acoustic metamaterials rely on architected structures with fixed configurations,and thus,their properties cannot be modulated once the structures are fabricated.Emerging active acoustic metamaterials highlight a promising opportunity to on-demand switch property states;however,they typically require tethered loads,such as mechanical compression or pneumatic actuation.Using untethered physical stimuli to actively switch property states of acoustic metamaterials remains largely unexplored.Here,inspired by the sharkskin denticles,we present a class of active acoustic metamaterials whose configurations can be on-demand switched via untethered magnetic fields,thus enabling active switching of acoustic transmission,wave guiding,logic operation,and reciprocity.The key mechanism relies on magnetically deformable Mie resonator pillar(MRP)arrays that can be tuned between vertical and bent states corresponding to the acoustic forbidding and conducting,respectively.The MRPs are made of a magnetoactive elastomer and feature wavy air channels to enable an artificial Mie resonance within a designed frequency regime.The Mie resonance induces an acoustic bandgap,which is closed when pillars are selectively bent by a sufficiently large magnetic field.These magnetoactive MRPs are further harnessed to design stimuli-controlled reconfigurable acoustic switches,logic gates,and diodes.Capable of creating the first generation of untethered-stimuli-induced active acoustic metadevices,the present paradigm may find broad engineering applications,ranging from noise control and audio modulation to sonic camouflage.Kyung Hoon Lee Kunhao Yu Hasan Al Ba’ba’a An Xin Zhangzhengrong Feng Qiming Wang 2020Research2020,,1:2
