Carbon isotopic composition of modern soil and paleosol as a response to vegetation change on the Chinese Loess Plateau显示文摘The relationship between the carbon isotopic composition of paleosols and paleovegetation on the Loess Plateau is still unclear. One of the main reasons is that we are short of knowledge about the characteristics of the carbon isotopic composition of modern soil in this area. A preliminary investigation of the carbon isotopic compositions of the modern soil and the loess/paleosol sequence on the Loess Plateau shows that the carbon isotopic composition of modern soil is consistent with the distribution of modern plants on the Loess Plateau, where the ecosystem is dominated by a mixture of C4 and C3 plants. Comparing theδ13C values of modern soil and loess-paleosol sequences from the Xunyi profile, we conclude that C3 plants dominated the landscape during loess sediment stages, while C4 plants expanded during paleosol stages.LIU Weiguo NING Youfeng AN Zhisheng WU Zhenghai LU Huayu CAO Yunning 2005Science China Earth Sciences2005,48,1:24
Types and Characteristics of Volcanostratigraphic Boundaries and Their Oil-Gas Reservoir Significance显示文摘Just like in sedimentary stratigraphy, the volcanostratigraphic boundary is an important factor for constructing volcanostratigraphic framework. The fundamental factor of volcanostratigraphic boundaries is to classify the types and define their characteristics. Based on field investigation and cross-wells section analysis of Mesozoic volcanostratigraphy in NE China, 5 types of volcanostratigraphic boundaries have been recognized, namely eruptive conformity boundary(ECB), eruptive unconformity boundary(EUB), eruptive interval unconformity boundary(EIUB), tectonic unconformity boundary(TUB) and intrusive contacts boundary(ICB). Except ICB, the unconformity boundaries can be divided into angular unconformity and paraconformity. The time spans and signs of these boundaries are analyzed by using age data of some volcanic fields that have been published. The time spans of ECB and EUB are from several minutes to years. In lava flows, cooling crust is distributed above and below ECB and EUB; in pyroclastic flows, airfalls and lahars, a fine layer below these boundaries has no discernable erosion at every part of the boundary. EUB may be curved or cross curved and jagged. The scale of ECB/EUB is dependent on the scale of lava flow or pyroclastic flows. The time span of EIUB is from decades to thousands of years. There is also weathered crust under EIUB and sedimentary rock beds overlie EIUB. In most instances, weathered crust and thin sedimentary beds are associated with each other laterally. The boundary is a smooth curved plane. The scale of EIUB is dependent on the scale of the volcano or volcano groups. The characteristics of TUB are similar to EIUB's. The time interval of TUB is from tens of thousands to millions of years. The scale of TUB depends on the scale of the basin or volcanic field. Both the lab data and logging data of wells in the Songliao Basin reveal that the porosity is greatly related to the boundaries in the lava flows. There is a high-porosity belt below ECB, EUB or EIUB, and the porosity decreases when it is apart from the boundary. The high-porosity belt below ECB and EUB is mainly contributed by primary porosity, such as vesicles. The high-porosity belt below EIUB is mainly contributed by primary and secondary porosity, such as association of vesicles and spongy pores, so the area near the boundary in lava flows is a very important target for reservoirs.TANG Huafeng Phiri CRYTON GAO Youfeng HUANG Yulong BIAN Weihua 2015Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2015,89,1:18
Chinese stalagmite paleoclimate researches: A review and perspective显示文摘Stalagmite is one kind of secondary carbonates formed in limestone caves(speleothem). After cave water droplets containing Ca2+and HCO3 drip onto floor, carbonate in the water might become supersaturated due to CO2 degassing under certain conditions, resulting in the formation of stalagmite in a process year after year. Stalagmite is one of important geological archives for paleoclimate research. The advantages include wide spatial distribution, suitable for U-Th and U-Pb dating, enriched in climate proxies, continuity, long time span, comparability and lower sampling cost etc. These factors have propelled stalagmite paleoclimate research to the forefront of global paleoclimatology with an irreplaceable role. The stalagmite paleoclimate study started in the western countries, mainly in Europe and America in 1960 s–1970 s, while the relevant research in China was progressively developed in the 1980 s–1990 s after the Reform and Opening up. Although there was a huge gap between the overall research level in China and western countries, a solid research foundation, as well as a number of talent teams were established during the period. In the 21 st century, starting from the publication of stalagmite records from Hulu Cave in Nanjing in 2001, the stalagmite paleoclimate research in China has ushered in a flourishing development and a real leap on the basis of international cooperation, resulting in significant international impacts. The landmark achievements, including establishment of the world’s longest(640000 years) East Asian monsoon stalagmite record, as well as the longest Indian monsoon(280000 years),South American monsoon(250000 years), North American westerly climate(330000 years), Central Asian westerly climate(135000 years), and northwestern China westerly climate(500000 years), have laid a milestone in the paleoclimate study in these climate domains. Importantly, these stalagmite records have revealed the relationship of Asian monsoon variations with solar insolation climate change in polar regions, and the South American monsoon changes on orbital-suborbital timescales, which have provided new geological observations for the development of orbital-suborbital climate theory;elaborated coupling and differentiation relationships between the Asian monsoon and the westerly climate;reconstructed the history of Asian monsoon changes in the Holocene in detail, and thus the hydrological and climate variances behind Chinese and Indian civilizationcultural evolutions. Furthermore, a large number of high-resolution stalagmite records over the past 2000 years have been reconstructed, which are important for understanding short-term climate variability and magnitude, events, cycles, and thus the future climate projection. The achievements have also involved the improvements of a number of important techniques, such as U-Th dating method, the establishments of various hydroclimatic proxies, as well as the contributions to the reconstruction of the atmosphere14C variation history over the past ~54000 years. On the perspective of the future, the Chinese stalagmite community should continue to develop key techniques, further clarify the hydroclimatic significance of stalagmite proxies, impel the integration of related disciplines, and concentrate on key scientific issues in global climate change and major social demands.Hai CHENG Haiwei ZHANG Jingyao ZHAO Hanying LI Youfeng NING Gayatri KATHAYAT 2019Science China Earth Sciences2019,62,10:17
Fractured zone height of longwall mining and its effects on the overburden aquifers显示文摘As mining depth becomes deeper and deeper, the possibility of undermining overburden aquifers is increasing. It is very important for coal miners to undertake studies on the height of fractured zone during longwall mining and the effects of longwall mining on the underground water while mining under surface water bodies and underground aquifers. In order to study this problem, piezometers for monitoring underground water levels were installed above the longwall panels in an American coalmine.Large amounts of pre-mining,during mining and post-mining monitoring data were collected.Based on the data, the heights of fractured zones were obtained and the effects of longwall mining on the underground water were studied. The results demonstrate that when the piezometer monitoring wells had an interburden thickness of less than 72.7 m,the groundwater level decreased immediately to immeasurable levels and the wells went dry after undermining the face of longwall. The height of the fractured zone is 72.7-85.3 m in the geological and mining conditions. The results also show that the calculated values of fractured zones by the empirical formulae used in China are smaller than the actual results. Therefore,it is not always safe to use them for analyses while mining under water bodies.Guo Wenbing Zou Youfeng Hou Quanlin 2012International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2012,22,5:11
Discovery of Triassic volcanic-sedimentary strata in the basement of Songliao Basin显示文摘In the Songliao Basin, the existence of lower Mesozoic strata remains a debatable issue. Previous studies indicated the absence of Triassic to Lower and Middle Jurassic strata in northeastern China because of uplift and erosion events associated with the return of geo-synclinal folds and orogenic movement during the Late Permian-Early Jurassic. To date, geochronological studies of intrusive and metamorphic rocks in the basement of the Songliao Basin have also confirmed Carboniferous, Permian, and Late Jurassic ages for the basement formations in general [1-4]. In the International Continental Scientific Drilling Project (ICDP) in the Songliao Basin, radiometric dating has been carried out for the entire drilling core of the SK-2 east borehole. As a result, we have discovered Triassic volcanic-sedimentary strata in the basement of the Songliao Basin.Yongkang Yin Youfeng Gao Pujun Wang Xuejiao Qu Haibo Liu 2019Science Bulletin2019,64,10:11
Progress on Continental Scientific Drilling Project of Cretaceous Songliao Basin(SK-1 and SK-2)显示文摘Scientific drilling is a significant exploration tool to better understand earth’s environmental and biological evolution, physical composition and structure, and natural resources and geohazards, through directly sampling on subsurface rock, fluid, living organisms and long-term monitoring of on-going deep processes. It plays a critical role in deciphering earth system dynamics and in solving socio-economic problems currently facing by humans.Yuan Gao Chengshan Wang Pujun Wang Youfeng Gao Yongjian Huang Changchun Zou 2019Science Bulletin2019,64,2:7
Variation of soil Δδ^(13)C values in Xifeng loess-paleosol sequence and its paleoenvironmental implication显示文摘The carbon isotopic compositions of soil organic matter (SOM) and total carbonate (TC) in Xifeng loess-paleosol sequence have been studied. The δ 13CSOM values vary from ?23.8‰ to ?20.2‰, which are higher in interglacial than in glacial stages. Contrary to δ 13CSOM values, the δ 13CTC values vary from ?8.5‰ to ?3.6‰ and are lower in interglacial than in glacial stages. The differences (?δ 13C) be- tween the δ 13CSOM and δ 13CTC values vary from 14.1‰ to 19.4‰. Our results from the Xifeng loess- paleosol sequence indicate that the ?δ 13C values represent the ratio of primary carbonate (PC) to secondary carbonate (SC). The ?δ 13C values were high in the loess stages, and the maximal PC-to-SC ratio can reach 6:4. But in the paleosol stages, the ?δ 13C values were low, with a small proportion of PC. The ?δ 13C values in loess-paleosol sequence also indicate the contributions of the dust to the loess sediment in the Chinese Loess Plateau because the dust contains the PC.NING Youfeng LIU Weiguo AN Zhisheng 2006Chinese Science Bulletin2006,51,11:6
Evolution of microstructure and high temperature tensile properties of as-extruded Ti Bw reinforced near-α titanium matrix composite subjected to heat treatments显示文摘The Ti Bw reinforced near-α titanium matrix composite(Ti-5.8 Al-3.4 Zr-4.0 Sn-0.4 Mo-0.4 Nb-0.4 Si-0.06 C) was successfully synthesized by powder metallurgy and hot extrusion route. The effects of solution and aging temperature on the microstructure and high temperature tensile properties of the composite were investigated. The results revealed that the fine transformed β phase can be obtained by the solution treatment at β phase region and aging treatment, no other precipitates were observed. The α2 phase(Ti3 Al) can be acquired when the solution treated at α+β phase region followed by aging treatment. With increasing the aging temperature from 500 to 700°C for 5 h, the size of α2 precipitates increases from about 5 to about 30 nm. The Ti Bw are stable without any interfacial reaction during the heat treatments. The high temperature tensile properties show that the composite performed by solution and aging treatment exhibits good strengthening effects. With increasing the aging temperature from 500 to 700°C, the strength of the composite increases at the expense of elongation due to the increment of α2 precipitates. The strength of the composite at 600°C increases by 17% to 986 MPa after 1000°C/2 h/AC and 700°C/5 h/AC heat treatment.WANG Bo ZHANG HaoBiao HUANG LuJun HE JianLi ZHANG YouFeng WANG Wei 2018Science China(Technological Sciences)2018,61,9:5
High-precision geochronology of the Early Cretaceous Yingcheng Formation and its stratigraphic implications for Songliao Basin,China显示文摘The Songliao Basin in Northeast Asia is the largest and longest-lived rift basin and preserves a nearcontinuous continental succession of the most of the Cretaceous period, providing great material to investigate the adaption of the terrestrial systems to the Cretaceous greenhouse climate and tectonic events. However, the paucity of precise and accurate radioisotopic ages from the Early Cretaceous strata of the Songliao Basin has greatly held back the temporal and causal correlation of the continental records to the global Early Cretaceous records.Three tuff layers intercalated in the Yingcheng Formation have been intercepted by the SK-2 borehole, which offer excellent materials for radioisotopic dating and calibration of the chronostratigraphy of the Lower Cretaceous sequence of Songliao Basin. Moreover, the Yingcheng Formation recorded the largest and the last of the two major volcanic events in Songliao Basin, which also represents a turning point in the basin evolution history of Songliao from syn-rift stage to post-rift stage. Here we report high-precision U–Pb zircon geochronology by the CA-ID-TIMS technique on three tuff samples from the Yingcheng Formation of the SK-2 borehole in the Songliao Basin to construct a greatly improved, absolute age framework for the Yingcheng Formation and provide crucial age constraints for the Songliao Lower Cretaceous Strata. The new CA-ID-TIMS geochronology constrained the Yingcheng Formation at 102.571+0.320/-2.346 Ma to ca.113 Ma,correlating to the Albian Stage.Combined with the previous published Songliao geochronology, the Quantou Formation is constrained to between 96.442+0.475/-0.086 Ma and 91.923+0.475/-0.086 Ma;the Denglouku Formation is constrained to between 102.571+0.320/-2.346 Ma and 96.442+0.475/-0.086 Ma;the age of the Shahezi Formation is estimated at ca.113 Ma to ca.118 Ma,which could extend to ca.125 Ma in some locations in Songliao Basin. The major unconformity between the Yingcheng Formation and the Denglouku Formation, which represents the transition of the basin from syn-rift to post-rift is thus confined to between 102.571+0.320/-2.346 Ma and 96.442+0.475/-0.086 Ma.This is roughly contemporaneous with the change in the direction of the paleo-Pacific plate motion from west-southwest to north or northwest in mid-Cretaceous,suggesting their possible connections.Tiantian Wang Chengshan Wang Jahandar Ramezani Xiaoqiao Wan Zhiqiang Yu Youfeng Gao Huaiyu He Huaichun Wu 2022Geoscience Frontiers2022,13,4:5
High resolution continuous sedimentary records of Upper Cretaceous obtained from the continental drilling(SK-1) borehole in Songliao Basin:Sifangtai and Mingshui Formations显示文摘The Sifangtai and Mingshui formations were continuously cored in the SK-1 n borehole(China Cretaceous Continental Scientific Drilling-SongKe1-the north borehole). The core is 767.96 m long, and the recovery is 94.7%.The ages of the formations range from middle Campanian to Danian. The sequence and process of lithology-lithofacies and cyclic stratigraphy were described in detail.Eight litho-types compose the Sifangtai Formation, and 15 litho-types compose the Mingshui Formation.Deposition was predominantly in meandering river and lacustrine environments, including 10 microfacies in the Sifangtai Formation and 15 microfacies in the Mingshui Formation. The complete sequence is composed of 535 m-scale cycles(sixth-order cycle),152 fifth-order cycles,42 fourth-order cycles and five third-order cycles. The centimeter-scale description of the section revealed some previously unknown horizons such as a special type of mudstone, marl, volcanic ash and favorable sand reservoirs in the formations. The new-found evidence is very important for the interpretation of the evolution of the basin, conditions such as lake oxic events, the K/Pg boundary, tectonism in the late sag basin stage, and the reservoir-cap rock assemblages in the shallow stratigraphy.Guodong Wang Rihui Cheng Pujun Wang Youfeng Gao Chengshan Wang Yanguang Ren Qinghua Huang 2015Geoscience Frontiers2015,6,6:5
Cooperative output regulation for linear uncertain MIMO multi-agent systems by output feedback显示文摘In this paper, we study the cooperative output regulation problem for a class of general linear uncertain multi-input multi-output(MIMO) multi-agent systems subject to a well-defined vector relative degree. By proposing some suitable internal model, the problem is first converted into the auxiliary cooperative stabilization problem of the augmented system in the so-called strict feedback normal form. This auxiliary problem is then solved by some developed robust control techniques, such as multiple high-gain feedback and mixed distributed observer, leading to an effective distributed output feedback regulator synthesis for the original cooperative output regulation problem.Ying ZHANG Youfeng SU 2018Science China(Information Sciences)2018,61,9:4
MULTIPLICITY OF POSITIVE SOLUTIONS TO MULTIPOINT BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEM WITH ONE-DIMENSIONAL p-LAPLACIAN显示文摘In this paper, we consider a multipoint boundary value problem for one-dimensional p-Laplacian. Using a fixed point theorem due to Bai and Ge, we study the existence of at least three positive solutions to the boundary value problem. In this problem, the nonlinear term explicitly involves a first-order derivative, which is different from some previous ones.Zhiyu Zhang (Dept. of Math., Taiyuan Institute of Technology, Taiyuan 030008) Youfeng Zhang (Yuncheng Middle School, Yuncheng 044000, Shanxi) Fengqin Zhang (Dept. of Math., Yuncheng University, Yuncheng 044000, Shanxi) 2010Annals of Differential Equations2010,26,4:4

Filling Pattern of Volcanostratigraphy of Cenozoic Volcanic Rocks in the Changbaishan Area and Possible Future Eruptions显示文摘The Cenozoic volcanostratigraphy in the Changbaishan area had complex building processes.Twenty-two eruption periods have been determined from the Wangtian'e, Touxi, and Changbaishan volcanoes. The complex volcanostratigraphy of the Changbaishan area can be divided into four types of filling patterns from bottom to top. They are lava flows filling in valleys(LFFV), lava flows filling in platform(LFFP), lava flows formed the cone(LFFC), and pyroclastic Flow filling in crater or valleys(PFFC/V). LFFV has been divided into four layers and terminates as a lateral overlap. The topography of LFFV, which is controlled by the landform, is lens shaped with a wide flat top and narrow bottom.LFFP has been divided into three layers and terminates as a lateral downlap. The topography of LFFP is sheet and tabular shaped with a narrow top and wide bottom. It has large width to thickness ratio. It was built by multiple eruptive centers distributed along the fissure. The topography of LFFC, which is located above the LFFP, has a hummocky shape with a narrow sloping top and a wide flat bottom. It terminates as a later downlap or backstepping. It has large width to thickness ratio. It was built by a single eruptive center. The topography of PFFC/V, which located above the LFFC, LFFP, or valley, has the shape of fan and terminates as a lateral downlap or overlap. It has a small width to thickness ratio and was built by a single eruptive center. The filling pattern is controlled by temperature, SiO_2 content, volatile content, magma volume, and the paleolandform. In the short term, the eruptive production of the Changbaishan area is comenditic ash or pumice of a Plinian type eruption. The eruptive volume in future should be smaller than that of the Baguamiao period, and the filling pattern should be PFFC/V,which may cause huge damage to adjacent areas.TANG Huafeng KONG Tan WU Chengzhi WANG Pujun PENG Xu GAO Youfeng 2017Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2017,91,5:4
Estimation of stature by using the dimensions of the right hand and right foot in Han Chinese adults显示文摘The Han Chinese people are the main ethnic group in China and the largest ethnic group in the world. The dimensions of the hands and feet have been successfully used for the estimation of stature.A total of 26,927 healthy adult subjects, comprising 13,221 men and 13,706 women, were recruited. The survey samples were chosen through random cluster sampling. The mean values were significantly higher in men than those in women for all measurements(P<0.001).All the measurements showed a statistically significant correlation with stature(P<0.01).The combination of the right hand length and the right foot length was the best predictor of stature because it had the lowest standard error of estimate. The use of multiple regression equations yielded better results than did the use of linear regression equations. The accuracy of stature prediction ranged from ±4.81 to ±6.39 cm.The present study was of great importance with regards to improving the physical anthropology database of ethnic groups in China.Xinghua Zhangi Yu Wei Lianbin Zhengi Keli Yu Dapeng Zhao Jinping Bao Yonglan Li Shunhua Lu Huanjiu Xi Guochang Xu Youfeng Wen 2017Science China(Life Sciences)2017,60,1:4
Exploring Hits-Based Content Provisioning Mechanism in Content-Centric Networking显示文摘In-network caching and Interest packets aggregation are two important features of Content-Centric Networking(CCN).CCN routers can directly respond to the Interest request by Content Store(CS)and aggregate the same Interest packets by Pending Interest Table(PIT).In this way, most popular content requests will not reach the origin content server. Thus, content providers will be unaware of the actual usages of their contents in network. This new network paradigm presents content providers with unprecedented challenge. It will bring a great impact on existing mature business model of content providers, such as advertising revenue model based on hits amount. To leverage the advantages of CCN and the realistic business needs of content providers,we explore the hits-based content provisioning mechanism in CCN.The proposed approaches can avoid the unprecedented impact on content providers' existing business model and promote content providers to embrace the real deployment of CCN network.QIAO Xiuquan NAN Guoshun GUO Lei DENG Shushan WANG Youfeng CHEN Junliang 2014China Communications2014,11,7:2
