2Characterization and Evaluation of OsLCT1 and OsN ramp5 Mutants Generated Through CRISPR/Cas9-Mediated Mutagenesis for Breeding Low Cd Rice显示文摘To explore how rice(Oryza sativa L.) can be safely produced in Cd-polluted soil, OsLCT1 and OsNramp5 mutant lines were generated by CRISPR/Cas9-mediated mutagenesis. One of OsLCT1 mutant(lct1×1) and two of OsNramp5 mutants(nramp5×7 and nramp5×9) were evaluated for grain Cd accumulation and agronomic performances. In paddy field soil containing approximately 0.9 mg/kg Cd, lct1×1 grains contained approximately 40%(0.17 mg/kg) of the Cd concentration of the wild type parental line, less than the China National Food Safety Standard(0.20 mg/kg). Both OsNramp5 mutants showed low grain Cd accumulation(< 0.06 mg/kg) in the paddy(approximately 0.9 mg/kg Cd) or in pots in soil spiked with 2 mg/kg Cd. However, only nramp5×7 showed normal growth and yield, whereas the growth of nramp5×9 was severely impaired. 3Brain structure in diving players on MR imaging studied with voxel-based morphometry显示文摘We adopted professional diving players as a typical subject pool to explore whether structural brain differences relative to motor skill acquisition exist between highly skilled athletes and non-athletes.Based on the voxel-based morphometric(VBM) technique,structural MRIs of the brains of 12 elite diving players with professional training were analyzed and compared with those of control subjects without any professional physical training.Diving players showed significantly increased gray matter density in the thalamus and left pre-central gyrus than control subjects.However,future researches are needed to prove the contribution of preposition and practice.It also suggests that athletes as the subject pool could form a new subject pool to explore plastic change induced by motor skill acquisition.Gaoxia Wei Jing Luo Youfa Li 2009Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2009,19,10:11

6Fighting against the common enemy of COVID-19: a practice of building a community with a shared future for mankind显示文摘The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has caused more than 80813 confirmed cases in all provinces of China,and 21110 cases reported in 93 countries of six continents as of 7 March 2020 since middle December 2019.Due to biological nature of the novel coronavirus,named severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)with faster spreading and unknown transmission pattern,it makes us in a difficulty position to contain the disease transmission globally.To date,we have found it is one of the greatest challenges to human beings in fighting against COVID-19 in the history,because SARS-CoV-2 is different from SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV in terms of biological features and transmissibility,and also found the containment strategies including the non-pharmaceutical public health measures implemented in China are effective and successful.In order to prevent a potential pandemic-level outbreak of COVID-19,we,as a community of shared future for mankind,recommend for all international leaders to support preparedness in low and middle income countries especially,take strong global interventions by using old approaches or new tools,mobilize global resources to equip hospital facilities and supplies to protect noisome infections and to provide personal protective tools such as facemask to general population,and quickly initiate research projects on drug and vaccine development.We also recommend for the international community to develop better coordination,cooperation,and strong solidarity in the joint efforts of fighting against COVID-19 spreading recommended by the joint mission report of the WHO-China experts,against violating the International Health Regulation(WHO,2005),and against stigmatization,in order to eventually win the battle against our common enemy—COVID-19.Xu Qian Ran Ren Youfa Wang Yan Guo Jing Fang Zhong-Dao Wu Pei-Long Liu Tie-Ru Han 2020Infectious Diseases of Poverty2020,9,2:4
7PcTGD,a highly expressed gene in stem,is related to water stress in reed (Phragmites communis Trin.)显示文摘To compare differential gene expression among three ecotypes of reed (Phragmites communis Trin.), dune reed (DR), heavy-salt meadow reed (HSR) and light-salt meadow reed (LSR), mRNA transcripts were displayed by cDNA-AFLP (amplified fragment length polymorphisms). The result revealed that a relatively small number of genes are likely involved in adaptations of DR and HSR to stresses. A full-length cDNA encoding dTDP-D-glucose dehydratase gene (PcTGD) was subsequently cloned from DR. Northern blot analysis showed that it is highly expressed in stem as well as rhizoma of the three ecotypes. However, its expression in DR stem was much higher than that of the other two ecotypes. 8Novel compound specified in dune reed (Phragmites communis Trin.) and its possible role as a protectant on the chloroplasts under stress显示文摘A small solute has been obtained with column chromatography, which only exists and accumulates in the leaves of dune reed in northwest China’s desert region. Its unique polyamine and aromatic features are quite different from those well-known ones accumulated under stresses. The natural quantity of the solute is strikingly proportional to the level of local high temperature, and a large section is distributed in the photosynthetic chloroplasts. Under lab conditions, we have proved that the solute plays a role in protecting or conserving chloroplasts under heat stress. 19Preparation and Characterization of the System SiO_2-CaO-P_2O_5 Bioactive Glasses by Microemulsion Approach显示文摘The system of SiO2-CaO-P2O5 bioactive glasses(BG) were successfully synthesized by microemulsion approach.X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron micro scopy(SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray(EDX) analyses,transmission electron microscopy(TEM),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),BET N2 gas adsorption analysis techniques were utilized in order to evaluate the phase composition,dimension,morphology,interconnectivity of pores and particle size of the synthesized BG respectiveely.The biocompatibility of BG was assessed by using dimethylthiazol diphenyl tetrazolium bromide(MTT).The BG scaffolds were implanted in rabbit mandibles and studied histologically.The results showed that the BG with a particle size less than 100 nm was prepared successfully.The measured BET specific surface area and pore volume was 113.9 m2/g and 0.28 cm3/g respectively.Cell cultures revealed that BG has been shown to have good biocompatibility and is also beneficial to the survival of Schwann cells,which can promote cell proliferation in vivo assay indicating that the BG can promote osteoconductivity.王洪新 CHEN Xiaoming WANG Youfa CHENG Dongji 2013Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science)2013,28,5:1
