3PcTGD,a highly expressed gene in stem,is related to water stress in reed (Phragmites communis Trin.)显示文摘To compare differential gene expression among three ecotypes of reed (Phragmites communis Trin.), dune reed (DR), heavy-salt meadow reed (HSR) and light-salt meadow reed (LSR), mRNA transcripts were displayed by cDNA-AFLP (amplified fragment length polymorphisms). The result revealed that a relatively small number of genes are likely involved in adaptations of DR and HSR to stresses. A full-length cDNA encoding dTDP-D-glucose dehydratase gene (PcTGD) was subsequently cloned from DR. Northern blot analysis showed that it is highly expressed in stem as well as rhizoma of the three ecotypes. However, its expression in DR stem was much higher than that of the other two ecotypes. After the removal of water stress, the expression of PcTGD was significantly reduced, suggesting that it possibly plays a role in adaptation of DR to water stress through an osmotic regulation mechanism.CHENG Youfa PU Tongliang XUE Yongbiao ZHANG Chenglie 2001Chinese Science Bulletin2001,46,10:4
4Novel compound specified in dune reed (Phragmites communis Trin.) and its possible role as a protectant on the chloroplasts under stress显示文摘A small solute has been obtained with column chromatography, which only exists and accumulates in the leaves of dune reed in northwest China’s desert region. Its unique polyamine and aromatic features are quite different from those well-known ones accumulated under stresses. The natural quantity of the solute is strikingly proportional to the level of local high temperature, and a large section is distributed in the photosynthetic chloroplasts. Under lab conditions, we have proved that the solute plays a role in protecting or conserving chloroplasts under heat stress. So it is reasonable to suppose that the high resistance of dune reed to environmental high temperature and/or drought is at least partially due to the accumulation of this unique solute.Tongliang Pu Youfa Cheng Chenglie Zhang 2000Chinese Science Bulletin2000,45,22:3
5Preparation and Characterization of the System SiO_2-CaO-P_2O_5 Bioactive Glasses by Microemulsion Approach显示文摘The system of SiO2-CaO-P2O5 bioactive glasses(BG) were successfully synthesized by microemulsion approach.X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron micro scopy(SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray(EDX) analyses,transmission electron microscopy(TEM),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),BET N2 gas adsorption analysis techniques were utilized in order to evaluate the phase composition,dimension,morphology,interconnectivity of pores and particle size of the synthesized BG respectiveely.The biocompatibility of BG was assessed by using dimethylthiazol diphenyl tetrazolium bromide(MTT).The BG scaffolds were implanted in rabbit mandibles and studied histologically.The results showed that the BG with a particle size less than 100 nm was prepared successfully.The measured BET specific surface area and pore volume was 113.9 m2/g and 0.28 cm3/g respectively.Cell cultures revealed that BG has been shown to have good biocompatibility and is also beneficial to the survival of Schwann cells,which can promote cell proliferation in vivo assay indicating that the BG can promote osteoconductivity.王洪新 CHEN Xiaoming WANG Youfa CHENG Dongji 2013Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science)2013,28,5:1
6Comparison of nutrition education policies and programs for children in China and other selected developed countries显示文摘A double burden of overweight/obesity and malnutrition during childhood is a major concern in China.Dietary intakes in this critical period affect children’s physical and cognitive development,and also have health consequences in later life.Therefore,establishing healthy eating habits that will endure is crucial for children.Nutrition education is an effective way in improving nutrition knowledge and attitudes,and healthy eating behaviors.Diverse forms of nutrition improvement programs that targeting children,family,teachers,and school settings have been conducted in many developed countries.However,due to the differences of genetic background,household environment as well as dietary patterns between Chinese children and children from other countries,the existing nutrition education programs for children abroad might not be appropriate for children in China.Thus,nutrition education programs that consider Chinese nutrition-related policies and food supply as well as the local educational resources are required for Chinese children.This review summarized nutrition-related policies and legislations in China and developed countries.A series of evidence-based nutrition education programs that combined educational strategies and environmental supports conducted in the Southwest China Childhood Nutrition and Growth Study were presented.These programs can serve as example models for adopting nutrition interventions to improve nutrition and health status of children in different regions of China.Guo Cheng Fan Yang Fei Xiong Li Zhao Lishi Zhang Youfa Wang 2020Global Health Journal2020,4,3:1

8Arabidopsis AGC protein kinases IREH1 and IRE3 control root skewing显示文摘AGC protein kinases play important roles in plant growth and development.Several AGC kinases in Arabidopsis have been functionally characterized.However,the'AGC Other'subfamily,including IRE,IREH1,IRE3 and IRE4,has not been well understood.Here,we reported that ireh1 mutants displayed a root skewing phenotype,which can be enhanced by ire3 mutation.IREH1 and IRE3 were expressed in roots,consistent with their function in controlling root skewing.The fluorescence intensities of the microtubule marker KNpro:EGFP-MBD were decreased in ireh1,ire3 and ireh1 ire3 mutants compared to wild type.The microtubule arrangements in ireh1 and ireh1 ire3 mutants were also altered.IREH1 physically interacted with IRE3 in vitro and in planta.Thus,our findings demonstrate that IREH1 and IRE3 protein kinases play important roles in controlling root skewing,and maintaining microtubule network in Arabidopsis.Xiaozhen Yue Zhiai Guo Teng Shi Lizhen Song Youfa Cheng 2019Journal of Genetics and Genomics2019,46,5:1
