| 2 | A Model for Estimating Total Forest Coverage with Ground-Based Digital Photography显示文摘Vegetation fractional coverage (VFC) is one of the key indicators of vegetation distribution. In the work a measurement-based model was developed to derive total forest VFC (TG) as well as the VFC of trees (T) and shrub-grasses (G) separately in a subtropical forest area in Nanjing, China. Both upward and downward photographs were taken with a digital camera in 72 quadrats (10 m × 10 m each). Fifteen models were established and validated. Models jointly using both T and G performed better than those using the T and G separately. The best model, TG = T + G- 1.134 × T × G- 0.025 (R2 = 0.9115, P < 0.01, root mean squared error = 0.0789), is recommended for application. | 3 | Rayleigh wave phase velocities of South China block and its adjacent areas显示文摘Using records of continuous seismic waveforms from 609 broadband seismic stations in the South China Block and its adjacent areas in 2010–2012, empirical Green's functions of surface waves were obtained from cross-correlation functions of ambient noise data between these stations. High quality phase velocity dispersion curves of Rayleigh waves were obtained using time-frequency analysis. These interstation dispersion curves were then inverted to build Rayleigh wave phase velocity maps at periods of 6–50 s. The results of phase velocity maps indicate that phase velocities at 6–10 s periods are correlated with the geological features in the upper crust. Major basins and small-scale grabens and basins display slow velocity anomalies; while most of the orogenic belts and the fold belts display high velocity anomalies. With the gravity gradient zone along Taihang Mountain to Wuling Mountain as the boundary for the phase velocity maps at period of 20–30 s, the western area mainly displays low velocity anomalies, while the eastern side shows high velocity anomalies. Phase velocities in the eastern South China Block south to the Qinling-Dabie orogenic belt is higher than that in the eastern North China Block to the north, which is possibly due to the differences of tectonic mechanisms between the North China Craton and the South China Block. The phase velocities at periods of40–50 s are possibly related to the lateral variations of the velocity structure in the lower crust and upper mantle: The low-velocity anomalies in the eastern part of the Tibetan Plateau are caused by the thick crust; while the Sichuan Basin and the southern part of the Ordos Basin display distinct high-velocity anomalies, reflecting the stable features of the lithosphere in these blocks. The lateral variation pattern of phase velocities in the southern part of the South China Block is not consistent with the surface trace of the block boundary in the eastern Yunnan Province and its vicinities. The phase velocities in the Sichuan Basin are overall slow at short periods and gradually increase with period from the central part to the edge of the basin, indicating the features of shallower basement in the center and overall stable lithospheric mantle of the basin. The middle and upper crust of the southern Ordos Basin in the North China Block is heterogeneous, while in lower crust and the uppermost mantle the phase velocities mainly exhibit high anomalies. | 4 | Grassland Degradation and Its Control in Region AroundQinghai Lake显示文摘A quite severe degradation was found in all seven types of grasslands in the study area involving 12counties of the northwestern Qinghai Province. The slightly, moderately and severely degraded grasslandsoccupied 49.7%, 32.0% and 18.3% of the area respectively. | 5 | Design and experiment of centralized pneumatic deep precision fertilization device for rice transplanter显示文摘To improve the precision of deep fertilization of paddy fields,a six-row centralized pneumatic deep precision fertilization device for a rice transplanter was designed.This device included a spiral fertilizer distribution system,centralized pneumatic fertilizer delivery system,an opener system,and a fertilization control system.The centralized airflow distribution method was used in the fertilizer delivery system to ensure that the airflow in each fertilizer pipe was evenly distributed.The rotational speeds of the power take-off(PTO)and fertilizer shaft were measured synchronously using photoelectric sensors and matched proportionately in real-time using PID closed-loop control algorithms to achieve precise fertilization rates at each working speed of the rice transplanter.There were two key considerations in the design of the control system to ensure precise fertilization.Firstly,a photoelectric sensor was used to measure the speed of the PTO;the high rotational speed of the PTO could provide a high signal frequency and improve the precision of the measurement of the transplanter’s working speed.Secondly,the fertilizer shaft speed measurement subprogram was set to sleep for a short period to reduce the vibration caused by the engine.During the tests of pneumatic fertilizer delivery system,single-factor tests on airflow distribution methods were conducted.The results showed that the coefficient of variation of the airflow speed for the centralized airflow distribution method was 1.67%,which was the least among the coefficients of the three distribution methods.In the bench tests,the rotational speeds of the fertilizer shaft were set at 10 r/min,20 r/min,30 r/min,and 40 r/min.The maximum coefficient of variation of the fertilization consistency in different rows was 1.49%at the rotational speed of 20 r/min.The maximum coefficient of variation of the fertilization stability was 2.86%at the rotational speed of 40 r/min,while the average fertilizer amount per lap for each distributor was 26.25 g/r.The results of the dynamic fertilization tests showed that the maximum relative error of the fertilizer distribution amount was 2.00%when the target fertilizer rates were 20,30,and 40 kg/667 m2.The results of the field tests showed that the average relative error of the fertilization amount was 3.53%,which satisfies the design standard.This research provides a reference for optimizing pneumatic fertilizer delivery systems and improving fertilization control systems and other pneumatic precision fertilizer application devices. | Xiantao Zha Guozhong Zhang Shijie Zhang Qunxi Hou Yang Wang Yong Zhou | 2020 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2020,13,6: | 3 |
| 6 | Laser Remelting of Plasma Sprayed NiCrAlY and NiCrAlY-Al_2O_3 Coatings显示文摘Two types of plasma sprayed coatings (NiCrAlY and NiCrAlY-A12O3) were remelted by a 5 kW cw CO2 laser. With increasing laser power and decreasing traverse speed in the ranges of 200-700 W and 5-30 mm/s respectively, the melted track grew in width and depth. In the optimum range of laser parameters, a homogeneous remelted layer without voids, cavities, unmelted particles and microcracks was formed. On the surface of remelted layers, Al203 and YAIO3 were detected. As a result of isothermal oxidation tests, weight gains of laser remelted coatings were obviously lower than that only plasma sprayed, especially laser remelted NiCrAlY-Al2O3 coatings. | 8 | Rangeland Grasshoppers in Relation to Soils in the Qinghai Lake Region, China显示文摘The relationship between rangeland grasshopper density and soil type as well as topsoil moisture content was analyzed with in situ soil data collected in the Qinghai Lake region of China. Grasshoppers were confined mainly to the areas with light chestnut soil or chestnut soil, and very few were found in areas with subalpine meadow soil. Grasshoppers were almost absent from other types of soil, such as aeolian soil. In addition, analysis of 14 soil samples collected in the study area revealed that a soil moisture content between 18 and 32 g kg-1 coincided spatially with a higher density of grasshoppers, with the grasshopper density averaging 15 head m-2. In areas with a soil moisture content above 42 g kg-1 or below 10 g kg-1, grasshopper density dropped to less than 5 head m-2.
