1Geomorphology and sediment dynamics of the Liyashan oyster reefs,Jiangsu Coast,China显示文摘Oyster reefs and their spatial patterns are deemed to change the local hydrodynamic condition and exert profound impacts on the grain size,concentration and transportation of suspended sediments.Meanwhile,high suspended sediment concentration often results in excess mortality among oysters.Oyster reefs are rare and vital ecosystem in Liyashan national marine park,Jiangsu Coast,China.However,urgent conservation efforts should be made on account of the drastic reduction in reef areas.To investigate the sediment dynamics and the geomorphology,two tripod observation systems were deployed and UAV aerial surveys with elevation measurement using Real Time Kinematic(RTK)were also carried out.High mud content(60%)was found in the bed sediment at the reef ridge,causing much lower drag coefficient than other recorded values of living oyster reefs,indicating the death of oysters and the degradation of reefs in Liyashan.Ridgelines of the string reefs at 45°to the current direction and high suspended sediment concentration in the water body(50–370 mg/L)that exceeds the threshold(200 mg/L),which would affect nutrient uptake efficiency and further result in gill saturation,decrease of clearance rate and associated deposition,were probably crucial causes of the death of oysters.The findings are useful for restoring natural oyster reefs and designing artificial reefs for nature-based coastal defense.Hangjie Lin Qian Yu Zhiyun Du Yiyang Fan Yunwei Wang Shu Gao 2021Acta Oceanologica Sinica2021,40,10:2
2Investigation of spherical and concentric mechanism of compound droplets显示文摘Polymer shells with high sphericity and uniform wall thickness are always needed in the inertial confined fusion(ICF)experiments.Driven by the need to control the shape of water-in-oil(W1/O)compound droplets,the effects of the density matching level,the interfacial tension and the rotation speed of the continuing fluid field on the sphericity and wall thickness uniformity of the resulting polymer shells were investigated and the spherical and concentric mechanisms were also discussed.The centering of W1/O compound droplets,the location and movement of W1/O compound droplets in the external phase(W2)were significantly affected by the density matching level of the key stage and the rotation speed of the continuing fluid field.Therefore,by optimizing the density matching level and rotation speed,the batch yield of polystyrene(PS)shells with high sphericity and uniform wall thickness increased.Moreover,the sphericity also increased by raising the oil/water(O/W2)interfacial tension,which drove a droplet to be spherical.The experimental results show that the spherical driving force is from the interfacial tension affected by the two relative phases,while the concentric driving force,as a resultant force,is not only affected by the three phases,but also by the continuing fluid field.The understanding of spherical and concentric mechanism can provide some guidance for preparing polymer shells with high sphericity and uniform wall thickness.Meifang Liu Lin Su Jie Li Sufen Chen Yiyang Liu Jing Li Bo Li Yongping Chen Zhanwen Zhang 2016Matter and Radiation at Extremes2016,1,4:2

13Rice sl-MH-1 mutant induces cell death and confers blast resistance via the synergistic roles of signaling systems显示文摘Serotonin is ubiquitous across all forms of life and functions in responses to biotic and abiotic stresses.In rice,the conversion of tryptamine to serotonin is catalyzed by Sekiguchi lesion(SL).Previous studies have identified an sl mutation(a null mutation of SL)in several rice varieties and confirmed its increase of resistance and cell death.However,a systematic understanding of the reprogrammed cellular processes causing cell death and resistance is lacking.We performed a multi-omics analysis to clarify the fundamental mechanisms at the protein,gene transcript,and metabolite levels.We found that cell death and Magnaporthe oryzae(M.oryzae)infection of the sl-MH-1 mutant activated plant hormone signal transduction involving salicylic acid(SA),jasmonic acid(JA),and abscisic acid(ABA)in multiple regulatory layers.We characterized the dynamic changes of several key hormone levels during disease progression and under the cell death conditions and showed that SA and JA positively regulated rice cell death and disease resistance.SL-overexpressing lines confirmed that the sl-MH-1 mutant positively regulated rice resistance to M.oryzae.Our studies shed light on cell death and facilitate further mechanistic dissection of programmed cell death in rice.Dagang Tian Yan Lin Shengping Li Yiyang Cao Gang Li Xinrui Guo Ziqiang Chen Zaijie Chen Feng Wang Zonghua Wang 2022The Crop Journal2022,10,6:0
14Performance Evaluation of Combined Detection of Serum CEA,CYFRA21-1,CA125,and NSE in Patients with Lung Cancer by Fluorescence Flow Cytometry显示文摘Objective:To investigate the effect of combined detection of serum carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA),cytokeratin 19 fragment(CYFRA21-1),cancer antigen 125(CA125),and neuron-specific enolase(NSE)in patients with lung cancer by fluorescence flow cytometry.Methods:From August 2019 to July 2022,200 patients with lung cancer diagnosed by pathology in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed.2 mL venous blood was collected in a fasting state and centrifuged to separate the serum(containing human chorionic gonadotropin antibody[anti-hCG antibody],hepatitis B surface antibody[anti-HBs antibody],and CEA).Results:The sensitivities of CEA and CYFRA21-1 detected via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)were 100%,and the detection limits were 0.5 ng/mL and 0.1 ng/mL,respectively;the sensitivities of CA125 and NSE detected via flow cytometry were 100%,and the detection limits were 10 U/mL and 2 ng/mL,respectively.Compared with ELISA,the sensitivities of CA125 and NSE detected via flow cytometry were higher.When the concentration of CEA was 10-40 ng/mL,the sensitivities of the three markers CYFRA21-1,CA125,and NSE showed no significant changes(P>0.05);when the concentration of CEA was 40-80 ng/mL,the sensitivity of CEA significantly decreased(P<0.01),but the sensitivities of the three markers CYFRA21-1,CA125,and NSE showed no significant changes(P>0.05);when the concentration of CEA was 80-200 ng/mL,the sensitivities of all four markers showed no significant changes(P>0.05).Conclusion:Compared with the double-antibody sandwich ELISA,fluorescence flow cytometry has certain advantages,including high sensitivity,good precision,short detection time,low sample usage,and low medical cost;thus,it is worthy of clinical promotion.Xiaoxue Huang Xiaomeng Zheng Yiyang Li Lin Duan Yang Yu 2023Proceedings of Anticancer Research2023,7,3:0

16Development of a dual-fluorescence reporter system for high-throughput screening of L-aspartate-a-decarboxylase显示文摘β-Alanine (3-am inopropionic acid)holds great potential in industrial application.It can be obtained through a chemical synthesis route,which is hazardous to the environm ent.It is w ell known that L-aspartate-a-decarboxylase(ADC)can convert L-aspartate to β-alanine in bacteria.However,due to the low activity of ADC,industrial production of β-alanine through the green biological route remains unclear.Thus,im proving the activity of ADC is critical to reduce the cost of p-alanine production.In this study,we established a dual-fluorescence high-throughput system fo r efficient ADC screening.By measuring the am ount of β-alanine and the expression level of ADC using two different fluorescence markers,we can rapidly quantify the relative activity of ADC variants.From a mutagenesis library containing 2000 ADC variants,we obtained am utant w ith 33%increased activity.Further analysis revealed that m utations o f K43R and P103Q in ADC significantly improved the yield of β-alanine produced by the whole-cell biocatalysis.Compared with the previous singlefluorescence method,our system can not only quantify the amount of β-alanine but also measure the expression level of ADC with different fluorescence,making it able to effectively screen out ADC variants with im proved relative activity.The dual-fluorescence high-throughput system for rapid screening of ADC provides a good strategy fo r industrial production of β-alanine via the biological conversion route in the future.Mingyue Fei Xudan Mao Yiyang Chen Yalan Lu Lin Wang Jie Yang Juanping Qiu Dongchang Sun 2020Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2020,52,12:0
17Regulating local charges of atomically dispersed Moδ+ sites by nitrogen coordination on cobalt nanosheets to trigger water dissociation for boosted hydrogen evolution in alkaline media显示文摘Now,Pt-based materials are still the best catalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Nevertheless,the scarcity of Pt makes it impossible for the large-scale applications in industry.Although cobalt is taken as an excellent HER catalyst due to its suitable H*binding,its alkali HER catalytic property need to be improved because of the sluggish water dissociation kinetics.In this work,nitrogen with small atomic radius and metallophilicity is employed to adjust local charges of atomically dispersed Mo^(δ+)sites on Co nanosheets to trigger water dissociation.Theoretical calculations suggest that the energy barrier of water dissociation can be effectively reduced by introducing nitrogen coordinated Mo^(δ+)sites.To realize this speculation,atomically dispersed Mo^(δ+)sites with nitrogen coordination of Mo(N)/Co were prepared via reconstruction of CoMoO_(4).High angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy(HAADF-STEM)and X-ray absorption spectroscopy(XAS)demonstrate the coordination of N atoms with atomically dispersed Mo atoms,leading to the local charges of atomically dispersed Mo^(δ+)sites in Mo(N)/Co.The measurement from ambient pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(AP-XPS)reveals that the Mo^(δ+)sites promote the adsorption and activation of water molecule.Therefore,the Mo(N)/Co exhibits an excellent activity,which need only an overpotential of 39 mV to reach the current density of 10 mA cm^(-2).The proposed strategy provides an advance pathway to design and boost alkaline HER activity at the atomic-level.Maoqi Cao Kang Liu Yao Song Chao Ma Yiyang Lin Huangjingwei Li Kejun Chen Junwei Fu Hongmei Li Jun Luo Yida Zhang Xusheng Zheng Junhua Hu Min Liu 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,9:0

19Older adults’social participation and social relationship and association with partner’s cognition:a latent profile analysis显示文摘Older adults’social participation and social relationship may be affected by their partners’cognitive function.In 3,722 cognitively intact married/partnered Health and Retirement Study respondents,latent profile analysis identified three social participation profiles(Limited overall social participation(prevalence:69%);Frequent volunteer participation(10%);Frequent non-volunteer participation(21%)),and three social relationship profiles(Social support from all relationships(68%);Mixed social support and strain from all relationships(18%);Social strain from partner with support from other relationships(14%)).Spouse/partner’s cognition was not significantly associated with social participation profiles.Impaired cognition in spouses/partners increased older adults’likelihood of perceiving social strain from their partners with support from other relationships.Frequent volunteer and non-volunteer participation and perceiving social support from all relationships predicted better self-rated health and lower odds of depressive symptoms.These findings highlight the need of community programs that promote social connectedness for older adults living with cognitively impaired spouses/partners.Yiyang Yuan Changmin Peng Yan Lin Shan Qu 2023China Population and Development Studies2023,7,4:0
20Regulating FUS Liquid-Liquid Phase Separation via Specific Metal Recognition显示文摘Liquid-liquid phase separation(LLPS)or biomolecular condensation that leads to formation of membraneless organelles plays a critical role in many biochemical processes.Mechanism study of regulating LLPS is therefore central to the understanding of protein aggregation and disease-relevant process.We report a fused in sarcoma protein(FUS)-derived low complexity(LC)sequence that undergoes LLPS in the presence of metal ions.The LC protein was constructed by fusing a hexhistidine-tag to the N-terminal low complexity domain(the residues 1–165 in QGSY-rich segment)of FUS.Spontaneous condensation of the intrinsic disordered protein into coacervate droplets was observed in the presence of metal ions that chelate oligohistidine moieties to form protein matrix.We demonstrate the key role of metal ion-histidine coordination in governing LLPS behaviours and the fluidity of biomolecular condensates.By taking advantage of competitive binding using chelators,we show the possibility of regulating dynamic behaviors of disease-relevant protein droplets,and developing a potential approach towards controllable biological encapsulation/release.Fen Li Yiyang Lin Yan Qiao 2022Chinese Journal of Polymer Science2022,40,9:0
