| 2 | Numerical simulation and analysis of aerodynamic drag on a subsonic train in evacuated tube transportation显示文摘The aerodynamic drag on a train running in an evacuated tube varies with tube air pressure,train speed and shape,as well as blockage ratio.This paper uses numerical simulations to study the effects of different factors on the aerodynamic drag of a train running at subsonic speed in an evacuated tube.Firstly,we present the assumption of a steady state,two dimensional,incompressible viscous flow with lubricity wall conditions.Subsequently,based on the Navier-Stokes equation and the k-ε turbulent models,we calculate the aerodynamic drag imposed on the column train with a 3-meter diameter running under different pressure and blockage ratio conditions in an evacuated tube transportation (ETT) system.The simulation is performed with FLUENT 6.3 software package.An analyses of the simulation results suggest that the blockage ratio for ETT should be in the range of 0.25-0.7,and the tube internal diameter in the range of 2-4 m,with the feasible vacuum pressure in the range of 1-10 000 Pa for the future subsonic ETT trains. | Yaoping ZHANG | 2012 | Journal of Modern Transportation2012,20,1: | 18 |
| 3 | Identification of the novel recessive gene pi55(t) conferring resistance to Magnaporthe oryzae显示文摘The elite rice cultivar Yuejingsimiao 2 (YJ2) is characterized by a high level of grain quality and yield, and resistance against Magnaporthe oryzae. YJ2 showed 100% resistance to four fungal populations collected from Guangdong, Sichuan, Liaoning, and Heilongjiang Provinces, which is a higher frequency than that shown by the well-known resistance (R) gene donor cultivars such as Sanhuangzhan 2 and 28zhan. Segregation analysis for resistance with F 2 and F 4 populations indicated the resistance of YJ2 was controlled by multiple genes that are dominant or recessive. The putative R genes of YJ2 were roughly tagged by SSR markers, located on chromosomes 2, 6, 8, and 12, in a bulked-segregant analysis using genome-wide selected SSR markers with F 4 lines that segregated into 3 resistant (R):1 susceptible (S) or 1R:3S. The recessive R gene on chromosome 8 was further mapped to an interval 1.9 cM/152 kb in length by linkage analysis with genomic position-ready markers in the mapping population derived from an F 4 line that segregated into 1R:3S. Given that no major R gene was mapped to this interval, the novel R gene was designated as pi55(t). | 5 | Estimating biophysical parameters of rice with remote sensing data using support vector machines显示文摘Hyperspectral reflectance (350-2500 nm) measurements were made over two experimental rice fields containing two cultivars treated with three levels of nitrogen application.Four different transformations of the reflectance data were analyzed for their capability to predict rice biophysical parameters,comprising leaf area index (LAI;m-2 green leaf area m-2 soil) and green leaf chlorophyll density (GLCD;mg chlorophyll m 2 soil),using stepwise multiple regression (SMR) models and support vector machines (SVMs).Four transformations of the rice canopy data were made,comprising reflectances (R),first-order derivative reflectances (D1),second-order derivative reflectances (D2),and logarithm transformation of reflectances (LOG).The polynomial kernel (POLY) of the SVM using R was the best model to predict rice LAI,with a root mean square error (RMSE) of 1.0496 LAI units.The analysis of variance kernel of SVM using LOG was the best model to predict rice GLCD,with an RMSE of 523.0741 mg m-2.The SVM approach was not only superior to SMR models for predicting the rice biophysical parameters,but also provided a useful exploratory and predictive tool for analyzing different transformations of reflectance data. | YANG XiaoHua HUANG JingFeng WU YaoPing WANG JianWen WANG Pei WANG XiaoMing Alfredo R. | 6 | Ecosystem carbon storage under different scenarios of land use change in Qihe catchment,China显示文摘Regional land use change is the main cause of the ecosystem carbon storage changes by affecting emission and sink process.However,there has been little research on the influence of land use changes for ecosystem carbon storage at both temporal and spatial scales.For this study,the Qihe catchment in the southern part of the Taihang Mountains was taken as an example;its land use change from 2005 to 2015 was analyzed,the Markov-CLUE-S composite model was used to predict land use patterns in 2025 under natural growth,cultivated land protection and ecological conservation scenario,and the land use data were used to evaluate ecosystem carbon storage under different scenarios for the recent 10-year interval and the future based on the carbon storage module of the In VEST model.The results show the following:(1) the ecosystem carbon storage and average carbon density of Qihe catchment were 3.16×107 t and 141.9 t/ha,respectively,and decreased by 0.07×107 t and 2.89 t/ha in the decade evaluated.(2) During 2005–2015,carbon density mainly decreased in low altitude areas.For high altitude area,regions with increased carbon density comprised a similar percentage to regions with decreased carbon density.The significant increase of the construction areas in the middle and lower reaches of Qihe and the degradation of upper reach woodland were core reasons for carbon density decrease.(3) For 2015–2025,under natural growth scenario,carbon storage and carbon density also significantly decrease,mainly due to the decrease of carbon sequestration capacity in low altitude areas;under cultivated land protection scenario,the decrease of carbon storage and carbon density will slow down,mainly due to the increase of carbon sequestration capacity in low altitude areas;under ecological conservation scenario,carbon storage and carbon density significantly increase and reach 3.19×107 t and 143.26 t/ha,respectively,mainly in regions above 1100 m in altitude.Ecological conservation scenario can enhance carbon sequestration capacity but cannot effectively control the reduction of cultivated land areas.Thus,land use planning of research areas should consider both ecological conservation and cultivated land protection scenarios to increase carbon sink and ensure the cultivated land quality and food safety. | ZHU Wenbo ZHANG Jingjing CUI Yaoping ZHU Lianqi | 2020 | Journal of Geographical Sciences2020,30,9: | 12 |
| 7 | Modeling the radiation balance of different urban underlying surfaces显示文摘An urban net all-wave radiation parameterization scheme is evaluated using annual datasets for 2010 recorded at a Beijing urban observation site.The statistical relationship between observed data and simulation data of net radiation has a correlation coefficient of 0.98 and model efficiency of 0.93.Therefore,it can be used to simulate the radiation balance of Beijing.This study analyzes the variation in the radiation balance for different underlying surfaces.To simulate radiation balance differences,we set four pure land-cover types(forest,grass,roads,and buildings).Keeping all other conditions inputted unchanged,we model the radiation balance by changing the land-cover type.The results show that the effects of different underlying surfaces on radiation differ,and that there is much upward long-wave radiation,accounting for 84.3% of the total radiation energy falling incident on the land surface.The annual averages of net radiation for the four land-cover types are in the range of 38.2-53.4 W/m2.The net radiation of the grass surface is minimal while that of the roads surface is maximal.Additionally,with urbanization the net radiation values of common types of land-cover change,such as conversion from forest to roads,grass to roads,and grass to buildings,all have increasing trends,indicating that net radiation usually increases with urban sprawl. | CUI YaoPing LIU JiYuan HU YunFeng WANG JunBang KUANG WenHui | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,9: | 9 |
| 8 | Topographical relief characteristics and its impact on population and economy:A case study of the mountainous area in western Henan,China显示文摘Topographical relief is a key factor that limits population distribution and economic development in mountainous areas.The limitation is especially apparent in the mountain?plain t「ansition zone.Taking the transition zone between the Qinling Mountains and the North China Plain(i.e.the mountainous area in western Henan Province)as an example and based on the 200-m resolution DEM data,we used the mean change-point analysis to determine the optimal statistical unit for topographical relief,and thereafter extracted the relief degree.Taking the 1:100,000 land use data,township population and county-level industrial data,population and economic spatial models were constructed,and 200?m resolution grid population and economic density maps were gen erated.Afterwards,statistical analysis was carried out to quantitatively reveal the impact of topographical relief on population and economy.In addition,the impacts of other topographical factors were discussed.The results showed the following.(1)The relief degree in western Henan is generally low,where 58.6%of the regional topography does not exceed half the height of a reference mountain(relative elevation W250 m).Spatially,the relief degree is high in the west while low in the east,and high in the middle while low in the north and south.There is a positive correlation between relief degree and elevation,and a much stronger correlation between relief degree and slope.(2)The linear fitting degree between the population and economic validation data and the corresponding simulation data are 0.943 and 0.909,respectively,indicating that the spatialized results can reflect the actual population and economic distribution.(3)The impact of topographical relief on population and economy was stronger than that of other topographical factors.The relief degree showed a good logarithmic fit relati on ship with population density(0.911)and economic density(0.874).Specifically,88.65%of the population lives in areas where the topographical relief is W0.5 and 88.03%of the gross regional product was from areas where the relief is W0.3.Compared with the population distribution,the economic development showed an obvious agglomeration trend towards low relief areas. | ZHANG Jingjing ZHU Wenbo ZHU Lianqi CUI Yaoping HE Shasha REN Han | 2019 | Journal of Geographical Sciences2019,29,4: | 8 |

| 10 | Pyritization in the Gaojiashan Biota显示文摘The Late Sinian (Ediacaran) Gaojiashan Biota was a soft-bodied fossil-Lagersttte dominated by sub-stantial pyritized, three-dimensionally preserved tubular and conotubular fossils. Soft-tissue pyritiza-tion is extremely scarce in the fossil records, especially in the Precambrian, therefore it has very im-portant and unique significance for the study of pyritization in the Gaojiashan Biota. Early pyritization played a pivotal role in the fossil preservation and two main factors ensured the successful pyritization of the fossils, namely rapid burial and permineralization. The former was controlled by secular storm deposition, and the latter was achieved by sufficient supply of available iron from sediments. SEM data of Conotubus demonstrate two types of preservation of the tubes (defined as type A and type B, re-spectively). In type A, pyritization took place relatively earlier and completely preserved both tube wall and coelom, but no detailed structure. While in type B, pyritization took place somewhat later and pre-served the integrated tube wall, but partially the coelom. | 11 | 2.5-Dimensional Parylene C micropore array with a large area and a high porosity for high-throughput particle and cell separation显示文摘Large-area micropore arrays with a high porosity are in high demand because of their promising potential in liquid biopsy with a large volume of clinical sample.However,a micropore array with a large area and a high porosity faces a serious mechanical strength challenge.The filtration membrane may undergo large deformation at a high filtration throughput,which will decrease its size separation accuracy.In this work,a keyhole-free Parylene molding process has been developed to prepare a large(>20 mm×20 mm)filtration membrane containing a 2.5-dimensional(2.5D)micropore array with an ultra-high porosity(up to 91.37% with designed pore diameter/space of 100μm/4μm).The notation 2.5D indicates that the large area and the relatively small thickness(approximately 10μm)of the fabricated membranes represent 2D properties,while the large thickness-to-width ratio(10μm/<4μm)of the spaces between the adjacent pores corresponds to a local 3D feature.The large area and high porosity of the micropore array achieved filtration with a throughput up to 180 mL/min(PBS solution)simply driven by gravity.Meanwhile,the high mechanical strength,benefiting from the 2.5D structure of the micropore array,ensured a negligible pore size variation during the high-throughput filtration,thereby enabling high size resolution separation,which was proven by single-layer and multi-layer filtrations for particle separation.Furthermore,as a preliminary demonstration,the prepared 2.5-dimensional Parylene C micropore array was implemented as an efficient filter for rare cancer cell separation from a large volume,approximately 10 cells in 10 mL PBS and undiluted urine,with high recovery rates of 87±13% and 56±13%,respectively. | Yaoping Liu Han Xu Wangzhi Dai Haichao Li Wei Wang | 2018 | Microsystems & Nanoengineering2018,4,1: | 2 |

After using the CFA technique to map Multiplicative inverse(MI) over GF(2~8)into composite field GF((2~4)~2), the compact MI circuit over GF(2~4) is selected from 100 evolved circuits, and same design method is applied to the compact multiplication circuit over GF(2~2). Compared with the direct implementations, the areas of optimized circuits of MI over GF(2~4) and multiplication over GF((2~2)2) are reduced by66% and 57.69%, respectively. The area reductions for MI over GF(2~8) and the whole of S-Box are up to 59.23%and 56.14%, separately. | 14 | The relationships between urban-rural temperature difference and vegetation in eight cities of the Great Plains显示文摘Interpreting the relationship between urban heat island (UHI) and urban vegetation is a basis for understanding the impacts of underlying surfaces on UHL The calculation of UHI intensity (UHII) requires observations from paired stations in both urban and rural areas.Due to the limited number of paired meteorological stations,many studies have used remotely sensed land surface temperature,but these time-series land surface temperature data are often heavily affected by cloud cover and other factors.These factors,together with the algorithm for inversion of land surface temperature,lead to accuracy problems in detecting the UHII,especially in cities with weak UHII.Based on meteorological observations from the Oklahoma Mesonet,a world-class network,we quantified the UHII and trends in eight cities of the Great Plains,USA,where data from at least one pair of urban and rural meteorological stations were available.We examined the changes and variability in urban temperature,UHII,vegetation condition (as measured by enhanced vegetation index,EVI),and evapotranspiration (ET).We found that both UHI and urban cold islands (UCI) occurred among the eight cities during 2000-2014 (as measured by impervious surface area).Unlike what is generally considered,UHII in only three cities significantly decreased as EVI and ET increased (p < 0.1),indicating that the UHI or UCI cannot be completely explained simply from the perspective of the underlying surface.Increased vegetative cover (signaled by EVI) can increase ET,and thereby effectively mitigate the UHI.Each study station clearly showed that the underlying surface or vegetation affects urban-rural temperature,and that these factors should be considered during analysis of the UHI effect over time. | Yaoping CUI Xiangming XIAO Russell B DOUGHTY Yaochen QIN Sujie LIU Nan LI Guosong ZHAO Jinwei DONG | 2019 | Frontiers of Earth Science2019,13,2: | 2 |
