| 1 | Responses of Saline Soil Properties and Cotton Growth to Different Organic Amendments显示文摘Application of organic waste to saline alkaline soils is considered to be a good practice for soil remediation. The effects of applying different organic amendments(e.g., cattle dung, vermicompost, biofertilizer) and earthworm inoculations(Eisenia fetida) on saline soils and cotton growth were investigated during 1 year of cotton cultivation. Compared to the control(applied with inorganic NPK fertilizer), applying organic amendments improved soil physicochemical properties. Biofertilizer application improved available nutrient content, reduced short-term soil electrical conductivity, and produced the highest cotton yield, whereas cattle dung and vermicompost applications resulted in higher soil organic matter content. Application of organic amendments significantly increased soil microbial biomass carbon during the flowering period, which sharply declined at harvest. This was especially true for the biofertilizer treatment,which also exhibited lower nematode abundance compared with the other organic materials. Earthworm inoculation following cattle dung application failed to significantly change soil physicochemical properties when compared to the treatments without earthworm inoculation. Results suggest that biofertilizer application to saline soil would improve soil nutrient status in the short-term, whereas cattle dung application would improve soil organic matter content and increase soil organism abundance to a greater extent. | 2 | Constructing temporal and spatial water vapor figures by GPS remote sensing along slant rays显示文摘A Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver can generally track 5-7 rays from GPS satellites at any moment, and water vapor along these ray paths (slant-path water vapor, SWV) may be retrieved using the methods developed in recent years. This paper suggests two new parameters-absolute vertical SWV (VSWV) and relative VSWV derived from SWV, and their temporal and spatial figures can reflect the heterogeneous distribution and variation of water vapor field. | 3 | An iron-dependent form of non-canonical ferroptosis induced by labile iron显示文摘Ferroptosis is a recently identified iron-dependent form of nonapoptotic cell death characterized by reactive oxygen species(ROS) generation and lipid peroxidation.Here,we report a novel iron-dependent form of ferroptosis induced by labile iron and investigate the mechanism underlying this process.We find that labile iron-induced ferroptosis is distinct from canonical ferroptosis and is linked to the mitochondrial pathway.Specifically,the mitochondrial calcium uniporter mediates the ferroptosis induced by labile iron.Interestingly,cells undergoing labile iron-induced ferroptosis exhibit cytoplasmic features of oncosis and nuclear features of apoptosis.Furthermore,labile iron-induced ferroptosis involves a unique set of genes.Finally,labile ironinduced ferroptosis was observed in liver subjected to acute iron overload in vivo.Our study reveals a novel form of ferroptosis that may be implicated in diseases caused by acute injury. | Yanmeng Li Qin Ouyang Wei Chen Ke Liu Bei Zhang Jingyi Yao Song Zhang Junying Ding Min Cong Anjian Xu | 2023 | Science China(Life Sciences)2023,66,3: | 1 |
| 4 | The Role of Dihydroresveratrol in Enhancing the Synergistic Effect of Ligilactobacillus salivarius Liol and Resveratrol in Ameliorating Colitis in Mice显示文摘Currently approved therapeutical strategies for inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD)suffer from variable efficacy and association with risk of serious side effects.Therefore,efforts have been made in searching for alternative therapeutics strategies utilizing gut microbiota manipulation.In this study,we show that the probiotic strain Ligilactobacillus salivarius Li01(Li01)and the phytochemical prebiotic resveratrol(RSV)have synergistic effect in ameliorating colitis in mice.Oral coadministration of Li01(109 CFU/d)and RSV(1.5 g/kg/d)promoted restoration of various inflammatory injuries and gut microbiota composition,exhibiting a favorable anti-inflammatory effect in DSS-induced colitis mice.The combination treatment was associated with reductions in the levels of proinflammatory cytokines IL-1βand IL-6 and increases in the levels of the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-17A in mouse serum.Moreover,the combination treatment was found to alter the composition and metabolism of the gut microbiota,especially influencing the production of short chain fatty acids and anti-inflammatory related molecules.The mechanism underlying the improved anti-inflammatory effect from the RSV and Li01 combination treatment was found to be associated with the environmental sensor mammalian aryl hydrocarbon receptor(AHR)and tryptophan metabolism pathway.Administration of RSV in combination with Li01 in different mouse model led to enhanced conversion of RSV into metabolites,including dihydroresveratrol(DHR),resveratrol-sulfate,and resveratrol-glucuronide.DHR was found to be the dominant metabolite of RSV in conventional and colitis mice.An increased DHR/RSV ratio was confirmed to activate AHR and contribute to an enhanced anti-inflammatory effect.DHR is considered as a potential AHR ligand.The DHR/RSV ratio also affected the serotonin pathway by controlling the expression of Tph1,SERT,and 5-HT7R leading to amelioration of colitis in mice.Our data suggest that treatment with a combination of Li01 and RSV has potential as a therapeutic strategy for IBD;further investigation of this combination in clinical settings is warranted. | Yiqiu Fei Shuobo Zhang Shengyi Han Bo Qiu Yanmeng Lu Weixing Huang Fang Li Deying Chen Bjorn Berglund Hang Xiao Lanjuan Li Mingfei Yao | 2022 | Research2022,,4: | 1 |
