| 1 | Identification and classification of all potential hemolysin encoding genes and their products from Leptospira interrogans serogroup Icterohaemorrhagiae serovar Lai显示文摘Aim: To identify and classify all potential hemolysin candidates of Leptospira interrogans serogroup Icterohaemorrhagiae serovar Lai. Methods: All of the potential hemolysin encoding genes were characterized in silico. These genes were cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli. The hemolytic activities of the expressed proteins were assayed observing the hemolysis on sheep blood agar plates. Sphingomyelinase activities of the hemolysin candidates were measured by thin-layer chromatography (TLC) and HPLC for sphingomyelin-hydrolysis.Expression and secretion of the hemolysins in L interrogans were studied by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, Western blot, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. Results and Conclusion: The hemolytic activities of hemolysin candidates (LA0327, LA0378, LA1027, LA1029, LA1650, LA3050, LA3937, LA4004) from L interrogans strain Lai were confirmed. They were further divided into two groups, sphingomyelinase hemolysins and non-sphingomyelinase hemolysins, based on their ability to hydrolyze sphingomyelin. Most of these hemolysins were actually expressed in living L interrogans and some of them were secreted into the environment. | 2 | High efficiency all-dielectric pixelated metasurface for near-infrared full-Stokes polarization detection显示文摘Pixelated metasurfaces integrating both the functions of linear polarization and circular polarization filters on a single platform can achieve full-Stokes polarization detection.At present,the pixelated full-Stokes metasurfaces mainly face the following problems:low transmission,low circular dichroism(CD)of circular polarization filters,and high requirements in fabrication and integration.Herein,we propose high performance ultracompact all-dielectric pixelated full-Stokes metasurfaces in the near-infrared band based on silicon-on-insulator,which is compatible with the available semiconductor industry technologies.Circular polarization filters with high CD are achieved by using simple two-dimensional chiral structures,which can be easily integrated with the linear polarization filters on a single chip.In addition,the dielectric materials have higher transmission than metal materials with intrinsic absorption.We experimentally demonstrated the circular polarization filter with maximum CD up to 70%at a wavelength of 1.6μm and average transmission efficiency above 80%from 1.48μm to 1.6μm.Therefore,our design is highly desirable for many applications,such as target detection,clinical diagnosis,and polarimetric imaging and sensing. | Chong Zhang Jingpei Hu Yangeng Dong Aijun Zeng Huijie Huang Chinhua Wang | 2021 | Photonics Research2021,9,4: | 6 |
| 3 | Guanling Biota: A Rare Biota in Sea Early Late Triassic显示文摘Guanling biota has been found at the bottom of Wayao Formation of Upper Triassic (Carnic stage) near Xinpu town, Guanling County, Guizhou Province, China. There are a lot of crinoids and marine reptiles, which is a characteristic of Guanling biota, including ammonites, bivalve, brachiopod, fish, conodont and plant. These fossils are featured not only with the large quantity, but also with their extraordinary perfect forms. | 4 | Novel Anti-fouling Strategies of Live and Dead Soft Corals(Sarcophyton trocheliophorum):Combined Physical and Chemical Mechanisms显示文摘At present,biomimetic antifouling research objects are mostly concentrated on the fast-moving marine organism,but the anti-fouling effect of the low-speed or static marine equipment is not obvious.This paper describes the anti-fouling mechanism of soft coral(Sarcophyton trocheliophorum),including the physical defense mechanism and the bactericidal ability of mucus and coral powder.As a sessile organisms,soft coral lacks escape mechanism.Therefore,the study on its antibacterial strategy is significant because it can provide theoretical guidance for static antifouling.Results showed that the live soft coral would molt in unfriendly environment,and the secreted mucus could defend themselves against fouling microorganism.Then,Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry(LC-MS)analysis was conducted to identify the bioactive compounds of the coral powder and mucus.Results revealed that both powder and mucus contained a wide variety of toxic components,which had bactericidal effects.Moreover,at the same concentration,the inhibitory effect of the main components on Gram-negative bacteria was stronger than that on positive bacteria.These findings enhance the understanding about the antifouling mechanism of soft coral and provide new ideas for design and prepare novel antifouling strategy to combat biofouling under static condition. | Limei Tian E Jin Benli Yu Hang Sun Yangeng Shang Wei Bing | 2020 | Journal of Bionic Engineering2020,17,4: | 2 |

| 12 | Spatiotemporal phase change materials for thermal energy long-term storage and controllable release显示文摘Phase change materials(PCMs)have attracted much attention in the field of solar thermal utilization recently,due to their outstanding thermal energy storage performance.However,PCMs usually release their stored latent heat spontaneously as the temperature below the phase transition temperature,rendering thermal energy storage and release uncontrollable,thus hindering their practical application in time and space.Herein,we developed erythritol/sodium carboxymethylcellulose/tetrasodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate(ERY/CMC/EDTA-4Na)composite PCMs with novel spatiotemporal thermal energy storage properties,defined as spatiotemporal PCMs(STPCMs),which exhibit the capacity of thermal energy long-term storage and controllable release.Our results show that the composite PCMs are unable to lose latent heat due to spontaneous crystallization during cooling,but can controllably release thermal energy through cold crystallization during reheating.The cold-crystallization temperature and enthalpy of composite PCMs can be adjusted by proportional addition of EDTA-4Na to the composite.When the mass fractions of CMC and EDTA-4Na are both 10%,the composite PCMs can exhibit the optical coldcrystallization temperature of 51.7℃ and enthalpy of 178.1 J/g.The supercooled composite PCMs without latent heat release can be maintained at room temperature(10-25℃)for up to more than two months,and subsequently the stored latent heat can be controllably released by means of thermal triggering or heterogeneous nucleation.Our findings provide novel insights into the design and construction of new PCMs with spatiotemporal performance of thermal energy long-term storage and controllable release,and consequently open a new door for the development of advanced solar thermal utilization techniques on the basis of STPCMs. | Yangeng Li Yan Kou Keyan Sun Jie Chen Chengxin Deng Chaohe Fang Quan Shi | 2023 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,5: | 0 |
