| 8 | Science with the 2.5-meter Wide Field Survey Telescope(WFST)显示文摘The Wide Field Survey Telescope(WFST) is a dedicated photometric surveying facility being built jointly by University of Science and Technology of China(USTC) and the Purple Mountain Observatory(PMO). It is equipped with a 2.5-meter diameter primary mirror, an active optics system, and a mosaic CCD camera with 0.73 gigapixels on the primary focal plane for highquality image capture over a 6.5-square-degree field of view. The installation of WFST near the summit of Saishiteng mountain in the Lenghu region is scheduled in summer of 2023, and the operation is planned to start three months later. WFST will scan the northern sky in four optical bands(u, g, r and i) at cadences from hourly/daily in the deep high-cadence survey(DHS) program, to semi-weekly in the wide field survey(WFS) program. During a photometric night, a nominal 30 s exposure in the WFS program will reach a depth of 22.27, 23.32, 22.84, and 22.31(AB magnitudes) in these four bands, respectively, allowing for the detection of a tremendous amount of transients in the low-z universe and a systematic investigation of the variability of Galactic and extragalactic objects. In the DHS program, intranight 90 s exposures as deep as 23(u) and 24 mag(g), in combination with target of opportunity follow-ups, will provide a unique opportunity to explore energetic transients in demand for high sensitivities, including the electromagnetic counterparts of gravitational wave events, supernovae within a few hours of their explosions,tidal disruption events and fast, luminous optical transients even beyond redshift of unity. In addition, the final 6-year co-added images, anticipated to reach g■25.8 mag in WFS or 1.5 mags deeper in DHS, will be of fundamental importance to general Galactic and extragalactic science. The highly uniform legacy surveys of WFST will serve as an indispensable complement to those of the Vera C. | 10 | Scientific objectives of the Hot Universe Baryon Surveyor(HUBS) mission显示文摘The Hot Universe Baryon Surveyor(HUBS) is a proposed space-based X-ray telescope for detecting X-ray emissions from the hot gas content in our universe. With its unprecedented spatially-resolved high-resolution spectroscopy and large field of view,the HUBS mission will be uniquely qualified to measure the physical and chemical properties of the hot gas in the interstellar medium, the circumgalactic medium, the intergalactic medium, and the intracluster medium. These measurements will be valuable for two key scientific goals of HUBS, namely to unravel the AGN and stellar feedback physics that governs the formation and evolution of galaxies, and to probe the baryon budget and multi-phase states from galactic to cosmological scales. In addition to these two goals, the HUBS mission will also help us solve some problems in the fields of galaxy clusters, AGNs, difuse X-ray backgrounds, supernova remnants, and compact objects. | 17 | Renewal and preliminary study of expressed sequence tags database on human fetal liver aged 22 wk of gestation显示文摘With the developments of international human transcriptome data and our ESTs of human fetal liver aged 22 weeks (wk) of gestation (HFL22w), the former research must be renewed. In this work, the EST data were firstly clustered by blasting against the ESTs of HFL22w, UniGene, DoTS, MGC and Twinscan-predicted human transcriptome. Then, after EST assembly and gene identification, the known genes were classified by GO (gene ontology), and the unknown genes were predicted by Pfam and ScanProsite to clarify their functions. In the end, the relations of 5 tissues including fetal liver, adult liver, bone marrow, thymus and lymph node that possess hemopoiesis or can indicate fetal liver characteristics were analyzed by hierarchical clustering. The results show that: (i) By comparing the 5 newest human transcriptome databases, we can largely reduce the probability that the ESTs belonging to unconnected parts of one gene were probably divided into different clusters, so it is recommended to blast against the newest databases when clustering EST data; (ii) some previous unknown ESTs had been identified as function-known genes, and 1379 genes were identified as fully new sequences possessed in our lab; (iii) through GO classification, we got a rough understanding of HFL22w, and obtained 6 cell migration genes and 6 hemopoiesis genes; (iv) prediction of gene function had enabled us to obtain 277 profiles, among them, there are 5 categories distributed in more than 10 genes; (v) five tissue relations analyzed by hierarchical clustering are related to their functions; (vi) We have built the world's largest EST database on HFL22w. | 18 | A Possible 250s X-Ray Quasi-periodicity in the Fast Blue Optical Transient AT2018cow显示文摘The fast blue optical transients(FBOTs)are a new population of extragalactic transients of unclear physical origin.A variety of mechanisms has been proposed including failed supernova explosion,shock interaction with a dense medium,young magnetar,accretion onto a compact object and stellar tidal disruption event,but none is conclusive.Here we report the discovery of a possible X-ray quasi-periodicity signal with a period of~250 s(at a significance level of 99.76%)in the brightest FBOT AT2018cow through the analysis of XMM-Newton/PN data.The signal is independently detected at the same frequency in the average power density spectrum from data taken from the Swift telescope,with observations covering from 6 to 37 days after the optical discovery,though the significance level is lower(94.26%).This suggests that the quasi-periodic oscillation(QPO)frequency may be stable over at least 1.1×10^(4)cycles.Assuming the~250 s QPO to be a scaled-down analog of that typically seen in stellar mass black holes,a black hole mass of~103–10^(5)solar masses could be inferred.The overall X-ray luminosity evolution could be modeled with a stellar tidal disruption by a black hole of~10^(4)solar masses,providing a viable mechanism to produce AT2018cow.Our findings suggest that other bright FBOTs may also harbor intermediate-mass black holes. | Wenjie Zhang Xinwen Shu Jin-Hong Chen Luming Sun Rong-Feng Shen Lian Tao Chun Chen Ning Jiang Liming Dou Ying Qin Xue-Guang Zhang Liang Zhang Jinlu Qu Tinggui Wang | 2022 | Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2022,22,12: | 0 |
