1PM_(2.5), PM_(10) and health risk assessment of heavy metals in a typical printed circuit noards manufacturing workshop显示文摘A typical Printed Circuit Board(PCB) manufacturer was chosen as the object of this study.During PCB processing, fine particulate matter and heavy metals(Cu, Zn, Pb, Cr, Cd and Ni)will be released into the air and dust, which then impact workers' health and the environment. The concentrations of total suspended particle(TSP), PM10 and PM2.5in the off-site were 106.3, 90.0 and 50.2 μg/m3, respectively, while the concentrations of TSP, PM10 and PM2.5in the workshops ranged from 36.1 to 365.3, from 27.1 to 289.8 and from 22.1 to212.3 μg/m3, respectively. Almost all six of the heavy metals were detected in all of the particle samples except Cd. For each workshop, it was obvious that Zn was the most enriched metal in TSP, followed by Cu > Pb(Cr) > Ni > Cd, and the same trend was found for PM10 and PM2.5. In the dust samples, Cu(which ranged from 4.02 to 56.31 mg/g) was the most enriched metal, followed by Zn, Cr, Pb, Ni and Cd, and the corresponding concentrations ranged from 0.77 to 4.47, 0.37 to 1.59, 0.26 to 0.84, 0.13 to 0.44 and nd to0.078 mg/g, respectively. The health risk assessment showed that noncancerous effects are unlikely for Zn, Pb, Cr, Cu, Cd and Ni. The carcinogenic risks for Cd and Ni were all lower than 10-6, except for Cr. This result indicates that carcinogenic risks for workers are relatively possible in the workshops. 2Controllable preparation of particles with microfluidics显示文摘This paper reviews recent development and achievements in controllable preparation of nanoparticles, micron spherical and non-spherical particles, using microfluidics. A variety of synthesis strategies are presented and compared, including single-phase and multiphase microflows. The main structures of microfluidic devices and the fundamental principles of microflows for particle preparation are summarized and identifled. The controllability of particle size, size distribution, crystal structure, morphology, physical and chemical properties, is examined in terms of the special features of microfluidic reactors. 35-aminosalicylicacid is an attractive candidate agent for chemoprevention of colon cancer in patients with inflammatory bowel disease显示文摘Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is classically subdivided into ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD). Patients with IBD have increased risk for colorectal cancer. Because the pathogenesis of colorectal carcinoma has not been entirely defined yet and there is no ideal treatment for colon cancer, cancer prevention has become increasingly important in patients with IBD. The two adopted methods to prevent the development of colon cancer in clinical practice include the prophylactic colectomy and colonoscopic surveillance.But patients and physicians seldom accept colectomy as a routine preventive method and most patients do not undergo appropriate colonoscopic surveillance. Chemoprevention refers to the use of natural or synthetic chemical agents to reverse, suppress, or to delay the process of carcinogenesis.Chemoprevention is a particularly useful method in the management of patients at high risk for the development of specific cancers based on inborn genetic susceptibility, the presence of cancer-associated disease, or other known risk factors. Prevention of colorectal cancer by administration of chemopreventive agents is one of the most promising options for IBD patients who are at increased risks of the disease. The chemopreventive efficacy of nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) against intestinal tumors has been well established. But with reports that NSAIDs aggravated the symptoms of colitis, their sustained use for the purpose of cancer chemoprevention has been relatively contraindicated in IBD patients. Another hopeful candidate chemoprevention drug for IBD patients is 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA), which is well tolerated by most patients and has limited systemic adverse effects, and no gastrointestinal toxicity. 5-ASA lacks the well-known side effects of longterm NSAIDs use. Retrospective correlative studies have suggested that the long-term use of 5-ASA in IBD patients may significantly reduce the risk of development of colorectal cancer. 4Preparation and ion exchange properties of egg-shell glass beads with different surface morphologies显示文摘A subcritical water treatment method was developed for preparing porous-surfaced glass beads with an egg-shell structure in a batch reactor. Based on the 'corrosion-ion-migration-recondensation' strategy, ordinary soda-lime glass beads with a diameter of about 100 m were made first to react with subcritical water to effect controlled quantity of silicate dissolution of glass by adjusting treatment time and temperature. The dissolved silicate was then made to recondense on the glass core to form different porous shell morphologies: pores, flakes and fibers. Among these, glass beads coated with fibers with surface area of 154.5 m2/g, pore volume of 0.27 cm3/g and pore size of 7.1 nm were obtained at 573 K after 2 h of treatment. The prepared porous-surfaced glass beads were then used as adsorbent for heavy metal ions, showing various ion exchange properties. Glass beads covered with fibers displayed fast kinetics and high sorption capacity because of their egg-shell structure and high surface area. More than 90% of copper ions were adsorbed within 100 min from a solution with an initial concentration of 110 mg/L at 313 K. Ion sorption capacities were 149.33, 81.33 and 42.96 mg/g respectively for Ag+, Cu2+ and Ni2+ at 313 K. 5Tailoring morphology and bulk density of magnesium ethoxide particles by adding n-hexane and silicone oil显示文摘In this work,we used the in ert substances silic one oil a nd n-hexane to modulate the solve nt environ ment,and in so doing tailor the preparation of magnesium ethoxide(Mg(0Et)2)particles.We found the following:(1)non polar n-hexane mainly modulates the polarity of the solvent to control the precipitation rate and size of the Mg(OEt)2 seeds,thereby triggering accelerated nucleation to form small primary particles;and(2)silicone oil(relatively high polarity and viscosity)facilitates the growth and agglomeration stage,to improve inter-particle dispersion and obtain relatively uniform Mg(OEt)2 particles.We summarized these findings in a comm on mechanism for preparing Mg(OEt)2 particles with uniform morphology,small size,and high bulk density as per the synergistic effect of n-hexane and silicone oil.The ratios of silicone oil end n-hexane are flexible,and afford various regular and well-dispersed Mg(OEt)2 particles that are 5-30μm in size and 0.2-0.7 g/cm^3 in bulk density.The nanoparticles thus have the potential to serve in diverse applications such as catalysis.Zhou Lan Yangcheng Lu 2020Particuology2020,18,6:4
6Simulation of the mixing process in a straight tube with sudden changed cross-section显示文摘In this work, we revised the expression of mixing intensity to describe the mixing output through a cross section in a flow system by considering heterogeneity of flow field, and carefully investigated the mixing process along a straight tube with expanding/contracting cross section by simulation method. The simulation results show that a sudden expansion of cross section has remarkable mixing intensification effect within a limited period(on the sub-second scale) or tube-length(on the millimeter scale), corresponding to the generation of considerable local vortices determined by both the flow capacity and the ratio of cross section change; a sudden contraction of cross section has instantaneous but weak mixing intensification effect; through introducing a local expansion structure with proper length, as the combination of sudden expansion and sudden contraction, their mixing intensification effects could be superposed. Besides, the rationality and importance are experimentally verified to explore the time profile of mixing intensity and carry out the vortex analysis by simulation for enhancing the selectivity of a complicated reaction system. 7Mechanism of Fume Suppression and Performance on Asphalt of Expanded Graphite for Pavement under High Temperature Condition显示文摘Fume suppression mechanisms and the effect of expanded graphite on the performance of asphalt were studied by applying infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR), X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and comprehensive thermal analysis(TG, DSC). The experimental results confirm that asphalt which is mixed with expandable graphite will expand in the process of hot mix, and the expanded graphite layer will swell by the light component in the asphalt. The light component in the asphalt and PAHs adsorption on expanded graphite surface or part of the plug in the expanded graphite layer between plates made nucleation crystallization growth. And the Van der Waals force and the bonding of the lattice can effectively restrain the asphalt fume release. Meanwhile, the expanding agent with oxidative can spread into the asphalt, leading to asphalt oxygenated and plastic abate, while the ductility decreases. Expanded graphite, SBS modifier and environment- friendly plasticizers are used to composite modified asphalt. According to asphalt fume release experiment, normal test of asphalt performance, Brookfield viscosity test, RTFOT test and asphalt mixture tests(high temperature stability, low temperature stability, water stability), it has been proven that the modified asphalt's performance is better than that of matrix asphalt and equivalent to that of SBS modified asphalt. 8Kinetic study on selective extraction of HCl and H_3PO_4 in a microfluidic device显示文摘In the extraction method for preparing KH2PO4,one of the key processes is the selective extraction of HCl over H3PO4.In our work,extraction kinetic studies have been carried out in a microfluidic device with a coaxial microchannel,using the extractant of 33.3%(by volume) trioctylamine(TOA) dissolved in n-octanol,with different aqueous phases:the HCl solution,the H3PO4 solution,and H3PO4 and KCl solutions of different concentrations.The changes of the extraction efficiency of HCl and H3PO4 and the selectivity for HCl along with the residence time were investigated.We found that fast extraction kinetics could be realized in microfluidic devices,and that HCl could be extracted faster than H3PO4 due to smaller mass transfer resistance and much stronger reaction between HCl and TOA.For the extraction of H3PO4 and KCl solutions,the selectivity for HCl first increased and then decreased when TOA was in excess of H3PO4 in the initial feeds,and in contrast,always increased when H3PO4 was in excess of TOA in the initial feeds.The diverse changes of selectivity for HCl along with the residence time indicate that a dynamic control of selectivity in microfluidic devices may be important and accessible for improving the KH2PO4 conversion efficiency in extraction method.Fang Zhao Yangcheng Lu Kai Wang Guangsheng Luo 2016Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2016,24,2:2
9Effects of temperature and phosphoric acid addition on the solubility of iron phosphate dihydrate in aqueous solutions显示文摘As important controlling factors for the synthesis of iron phosphate materials by liquid-phase precipitation, the solubilities of iron phosphate dihydrate were systematically measured at H_3PO_4 concentrations from 1.13 wt%to 10.7 wt%, temperature from 298.15 to 363.15 K, and atmosphere pressure in this work. The solubility was found to increase 5 orders of magnitude or more with increasing the concentration of phosphoric acid, and decrease 1 to 2 orders of magnitude with increasing the equilibrium temperature. The phosphoric acid addition and temperature were found to affect the solubility of iron phosphate dihydrate by the formation or dissociation of coordination species, which could further accelerate the phase transformation from the amorphous iron phosphate dihydrate to orthorhombic iron phosphate dehydrate by dissolution–recrystallization mechanism.The high dependences of the solubility of iron phosphate materials on H_3PO_4 concentration and temperature were also well predicted by calibration equations, which are meaningful for quantitatively understanding the precipitation process and sequential crystalline structure transformation and pursuing a rational strategy for synthesizing specific iron phosphate materials.Tongbao Zhang Yangcheng Lu Guangsheng Luo 2017Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2017,25,2:2

12Giant resonant light forces in microspherical photonics显示文摘Resonant light pressure effects can open new degrees of freedom in optical manipulation with microparticles,but they have been traditionally considered as relatively subtle effects.Using a simplified two-dimensional model of surface electromagnetic waves evanescently coupled to whispering gallery modes(WGMs)in transparent circular cavities,we show that under resonant conditions the peaks of the optical forces can approach theoretical limits imposed by the momentum conservation law on totally absorbing particles.Experimentally,we proved the existence of strong peaks of the optical forces by studying the optical propulsion of dielectric microspheres along tapered microfibers.We observed giant optical propelling velocities,0.45 mm s21 for some of the 15-20 mm polystyrene microspheres in water for guided powers limited at,43 mW.Such velocities exceed previous observations by more than an order of magnitude,thereby providing evidence for the strongly enhanced resonant optical forces.We analyzed the statistical properties of the velocity distribution function measured for slightly disordered(,1%size variations)ensembles of microspheres with mean diameters varying from 3 to 20 mm.These results demonstrate a principal possibility of optical sorting of microspheres with the positions of WGM resonances overlapped at the wavelength of the laser source.They can be used as building blocks of the lossless coupled resonator optical waveguides and various integrated optoelectronics devices.Yangcheng Li Oleksiy V Svitelskiy Alexey V Maslov David Carnegie Edik Rafailov Vasily N Astratov 2013Light(Science & Applications)2013,2,1:1

17Synthesis of epichlorohydrin from 1,3-dichloropropanol using solid base显示文摘In this work, the synthesis of epichlorohydrin(ECH) from 1,3-dichloropropanol(DCP) by using solid sodium hydroxide(NaOH) is carefully investigated. Inert organic solvent, 1-octanol, is introduced to ensure reaction intensity under control. The reaction performances with respect to apparent kinetics and selectivity are determined to explore optimized reaction conditions and confirm potentials for enhancing productivity in one batch. The dissolution and liquid phase reaction mechanism and instant reaction assumption are proposed and verified through process analysis. A process design towards free additional water is schematically figured out to manipulate solid NaOH, by-product,and unreacted starting materials to realize a nearly closed circuit. This process allows high selectivity over 97% and complete DCP conversion at 323.2 K within a reaction time less than 20 min.
