| 5 | The Red Edge Parameters of Different Wheat Varieties Under Different Fertilization and Irrigation Treatments显示文摘The dynamics of red edge parameters at different growth stages of wheat canopy was studied.The red edge position moved to the longer wavelength from erecting stage to heading stage, and returned to the original wavelength direction from grain-filling stage to maturity stage. The leaf total nitrogen content (LTN)is positively related to red edge amplitude (d λ red) and NIR platform amplitude (d λNIRP) and the correlation coefficient improved as growth stage extended. The chlorophyll content (TChl) is negatively related to d λ red from erecting stage to the elongation stage, and positively related to d λ red from heading stage to milky maturity stage. TChl is also positively related to d λNIRP. The leaf area index (LAI) is positively related to d λ red and d λNIRP, and the correlation coefficient improved as growth stage extended. It was concluded that d λ red and d λNIRP can be used as the indicators of winter wheat growth state, and guide the fertilization and irrigation decision making. | 7 | Breeding Technology of eui-hybrids of Rice显示文摘Induced mutants of elongated uppermost internode (eui) were directly obtained after irradiation on maintainer (B) and restorer (R) lines of hybrid rice. The results showed that the eui mutation frequency averaged 0.10‰ at a range of 0.02‰ - 0.47‰,varying with applied dosage and mutated materials. Genetic diversities of eui stock, and a new eui gene, temporarily designated as eui2(t), was identified. eA lines have a significantly elongated uppermost internode causing better panicle exsertion and possessing higher outcrossing potential. e-hybrids increased plant height by 3 - 10 cm and headed 2 - 3 days earlier, as well as showed greater grain weight resulting in higher yield potential than that of corresponding original hybrids. | 9 | Transcriptomic landscape regulated by the 14 types of bone morphogenetic proteins(BMPs)in lineage commitment and differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)显示文摘Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)are ubiquitously-existing multipotent progenitors that can self-renew and differentiate into multiple lineages including osteocytes,chondrocytes,adipocytes,tenocytes and myocytes.MSCs represent one of the most commonly-used adult progenitors and serve as excellent progenitor cell models for investigating lineagespecific differentiation regulated by various cellular signaling pathways,such as bone morphogenetic proteins(BMPs).As members of TGFb superfamily,BMPs play diverse and important roles in development and adult tissues.At least 14 BMPs have been identified in mammals.Different BMPs exert distinct but overlapping biological functions.Through a comprehensive analysis of 14 BMPs in MSCs,we demonstrated that BMP9 is one of the most potent BMPs in inducing osteogenic differentiation of MSCs.Nonetheless,a global mechanistic view of BMP signaling in regulating the proliferation and differentiation of MSCs remains to be fully elucidated.Here,we conducted a comprehensive transcriptomic profiling in the MSCs stimulated by 14 types of BMPs.Hierarchical clustering analysis classifies 14 BMPs into three subclusters:an osteo/chondrogenic/adipogenic cluster,a tenogenic cluster,and BMP3 cluster.We also demonstrate that six BMPs(e.g.,BMP2,BMP3,BMP4,BMP7,BMP8,and BMP9)can induce ISmads effectively,while BMP2,BMP3,BMP4,BMP7,and BMP11 up-regulate Smad-independent MAP kinase pathway.Furthermore,we show that many BMPs can upregulate the expression of the signal mediators of Wnt,Notch and PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathways.While the reported transcriptomic changes need to be further validated,our expression profiling represents the first-of-its-kind to interrogate a comprehensive transcriptomic landscape regulated by the 14 types of BMPs in MSCs. | Linghuan Zhang Qing Luo Yi Shu Zongyue Zeng Bo Huang Yixiao Feng Bo Zhang Xi Wang Yan Lei Zhenyu Ye Ling Zhao Daigui Cao Lijuan Yang Xian Chen Bin Liu William Wagstaff Russell R*Reid Hue H*Luu Rex C*Haydon Michael J*Lee Jennifer Moriatis Wolf Zhou Fu Tong-Chuan He Quan Kang | 2019 | Genes & Diseases2019,6,3: | 11 |
| 10 | Metformin does not improve survival in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM:To assess whether metformin,which has a chemopreventive effect in chronic liver disease,has any chemotherapeutic effect in hepatocellular carcinoma.METHODS:This was a retrospective study of 701 patients with newly diagnosed hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)seen between January 2005 and June 2011 at Mayo Clinic,Rochester,Minnesota.This patient cohort was a part of the global HCC BRIDGE study,which is a large longitudinal study of HCC determining the realworld experience of HCC characteristics,management and patient outcomes.We defined significant metformin exposure as continuation of this agent at least 90d beyond diagnosis of HCC,and compared survival of diabetic patients on metformin to diabetic patients not on metformin and non-diabetics.RESULTS:Our cohort was 72.9%male,with a mean±SD age of 62.6±12.3 years.The most common etiologies of liver disease were hepatitis C(34%),alcoholic liver disease(29%),fatty liver disease(15%)and hepatitis B(9%).By univariate analysis,using diabetics not on metformin as the reference group,diabetic patients with HCC on metformin had no survival advantage,with a HR(95%CI)of 1.0(0.8-1.3).Non-diabetic HCC patients also did not appear to have a survival advantage as compared to diabetic HCC patients not on metformin,as demonstrated by a HR(95%CI)of1.1(0.7-1.7).Diabetics on metformin beyond 90 d after HCC diagnosis had a longer median survival at 34.2 mo,as compared to 25.5 mo among diabetic patients who were not on metformin or had discontinued metformin within 90 d after HCC diagnosis.This finding was likely due to potential survival bias among those who lived long enough to receive metformin.CONCLUSION:Although the literature suggests a chemotherapeutic effect in other malignancies,our study demonstrates no survival benefit to the use of metformin in diabetic patients with HCC. | Mamatha Bhat Roongruedee Chaiteerakij William S Harmsen Cathy D Schleck Ju Dong Yang Nasra H Giama Terry M Therneau Gregory J Gores Lewis R Roberts | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,42: | 11 |

| 13 | Effect of prophylactic clip placement following endoscopic mucosal resection of large colorectal lesions on delayed polypectomy bleeding: A meta-analysis显示文摘BACKGROUND The role of prophylactic clipping for the prevention of delayed polypectomy bleeding(DPB) remains unclear and conclusions from prior meta-analyses are limited due to the inclusion of variety of resection techniques and polyp sizes.AIM To conduct a meta-analysis on the effect of clipping on DPB following endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR) of colorectal lesions ≥ 20 mm.METHODS We performed a search of PubMed and the Cochrane library for studies comparing the effect of clipping vs no clipping on DPB following endoscopic resection. The Cochran Q test and I^2 were used to test for heterogeneity. Pooling was conducted using a random-effects model.RESULTS Thirteen studies with a total of 7794 polyps were identified, of which data was available on 1701 cases of EMR of lesions ≥ 20 mm. | 14 | Studies on the Microscopic Mechanism of the Thermodynamic Stability of Pesticide Microemulsion显示文摘The cryo-fracture electron microscope was used to study the micro-structure of pesticide microemuisions. The hydromechanical radius (Rh) and the distribution (fRh) of pesticide microemulsions were determined by photo-correlation spectroscopy. This study showed that the Rh was significantly greater when the ratio of surfactants to water (w/w) decreased to 20/31 from 27/26, and a bicontinuous structure was formed when the ratio dropped to 15/36. | 16 | Structure and Property of Bamboo Fiber显示文摘The chemical composition, fiber characteristics, crystalline structure, mechanical properties and thermal behavior of the five species of bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis cv.Pachyloe, Bambusa tootisk, Arundinaia amabilis, B.vulgaris cv. Vittata, and Dendrocalamus affinis) were studied with IR, X-ray, DSC and chemical analyses. The results indicated that the benzene-ethanol extractive content of bamboo was higher than that of wood, the content of lignin and the content of pentosan were 19.1% - 25.3% and 14.9% - 22.6%, respectively. Except for Ph. edulis cv. Pachyloe, the cellulose content in the other 4 species was over 50%. The average length of fiber of D. affinis was the longest (1.861 mm). The length/ width ratio of bamboo fiber was also higher than that of wood, and it was the highest for B.tootisk, which reached 142. The results of IR and X-ray confirmed that crystalline structure of bamboo fibers was cellulose, and A. amabilis had the highest crystallinity index. The differential thermal analysis (DSC) can be one of the methods to identify various fiber materials. After steam explosive pretreatment, cellulose content of D. affinis had increased from 50.5% to 69.2%, the crystallinity index had increased and the breaking tenacity of bamboo fibers was suitable for producing textile products, indicating that steam explosion is an useful pretreatment for bamboo fibers made into composite materials and textiles. | JIANG Jianxin1 YANG Zhongkai2 ZHU Liwei1 SHI Limin2 YAN Lijie1 1. | 17 | A draft sequence of the rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica) genome显示文摘The sequence of the rice genome holds fundamental information for its biology, including physiology, genetics, development, and evolution, as well as information on many beneficial phenotypes of economic significance. Using a 'whole genome shotgun' approach, we have pro-duced a draft rice genome sequence of Oryza sativa ssp. in-dica, the major crop rice subspecies in China and many other regions of Asia. The draft genome sequence is constructed from over 4.3 million successful sequencing traces with an accumulative total length of 2214.9 Mb. The initial assembly of the non-redundant sequences reached 409.76 Mb in length, based on 3.30 million successful sequencing traces with a total length of 1797.4 Mb from an indica variant cultivar 93-11, giving an estimated coverage of 95.29% of the rice genome with an average base accuracy of higher than 99%.
