| 2 | The effect of integrative crop management on root growth and methane emission of paddy rice显示文摘In previous studies, integrative crop management (ICM) improved shoot growth and grain yield of rice (Oryza sativa L.). However, little is known about the effect of ICM on root growth and methane (CH4) emission of paddy rice. In this study, two rice varieties, Wuyunjing 24 and Yongyou 2640, were grown. A field experiment was conducted with three crop management treatments including zero nitrogen fertilization (0N), local farmer practice (LFP), and ICM. Root morphophysiological traits and CH4 emission from the paddy field were investigated. ICM significantly increased mean grain yield by 29.9%, with the effect attributed mainly to an increase in mean total number of spikelets by 26.4% compared to LFP. ICM increased root and shoot biomass, root length, number of roots, root oxidation activity (ROA), root bleeding rate, and root total and active absorbing surface area by respectively 24.4%, 25.7%, 17.1%, 9.3%, 18.7%, 29.5%, 12.1%, and 24.7%. The concentrations of malic, succinic, and acetic acids in root exudates were respectively 5.8%, 6.0%, and 10.5% higher in ICM than in LFP. Compared to LFP, ICM significantly decreased the rate of CH4 emission during emission peak stages and reduced total CH4 emission by 17.1%. The root morphophysiological traits were positively and significantly correlated with grain yield, whereas root length, specific root length, ROA, and root total and active absorbing surface area were negatively and significantly correlated with total CH4 emission. | 3 | Investigation on the relationship between the fine particle emission and crystallization characteristics of gypsum during wet flue gas desulfurization process显示文摘The relationship between the fine particles emitted after desulfurization and gypsum crystals in the desulfurization slurry was investigated,and the crystallization characteristics varying with the operation parameters and compositions of the desulfurization slurry were discussed.The results showed that the fine particles generated during the desulfurization process were closely related to the crystal characteristics in the desulfurization slurry by comparison of their morphology and elements. With the higher proportion of fine crystals in the desulfurization slurry,the number concentration of fine particles after desulfurization was increased and their particle sizes were smaller,indicating that the optimization of gypsum crystallization was beneficial for the reduction of the fine particle emission. The lower p H value and an optimal temperature of the desulfurization slurry were beneficial to restrain the generation of fine crystals in the desulfurization slurry. | 4 | Ocular Surface Characteristics and Impression Cytology in Patients with Active versus Inactive Thyroid Eye Disease显示文摘Purpose:To compare the clinical findings, tear film function and impression cytology between patients with active and inactive Thyroid Eye Disease (TED). Methods:.A total of 56 patients with TED and 30 controls were recruited in this prospective observational cohort study. TED patients were divided into active TED and inactive TED types according to a seven-point modified formulation of the Clinical Activity Score (CAS). All participants underwent full eye examinations including Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) score, tear film break-up time (TBUT), fluorescein staining and Schirmer I test. Thirty nine patients with thyroid-associated orbitopathy.(TAO) received Nelson's grade with conjunctival impression cytology. Proptosis, palpebral fissure width and lagophthalmos were assessed. Results:.Ocular surface parameters including proptosis, palpebral fissure width and lagophthalmos did not differ between active and inactive TED patients(P>0.05). Both active and inactive TED patients obtained higher fluorescein staining scores, lower TBUT scores and significantly lower Schirmer test scores than those of controls (P<0.001 for all). Additionally, the TBUT score was significantly lower and the OSDI score significantly higher in the active TED group compared with those in the inactive TED group (P<0.001 for both). Impression cytology revealed a higher proportion of grade 2-3 changes in the active TED group compared with the inactive TED group(P<0.001). | 7 | DNA damage repair promotion in colonic epithelial cells by andrographolide downregulated cGAS-STING pathway activation and contributed to the relief of CPT-11-induced intestinal mucositis显示文摘Gastrointestinal mucositis is one of the most debilitating side effects of the chemotherapeutic agent irinotecan(CPT-11). Andrographolide, a natural bicyclic diterpenoid lactone, has been reported to possess anti-colitis activity. In this study, andrographolide treatment was found to significantly relieve CPT-11-induced colitis in tumor-bearing mice without decreasing the tumor suppression effect of CPT-11. CPT-11 causes DNA damage and the release of double-stranded DNA(ds DNA) from the intestine, leading to cyclic-GMP-AMP synthase(c GAS)-stimulator of interferon genes(STING)-mediated colitis, which was significantly decreased by andrographolide both in vivo and in vitro. Mechanistic studies revealed that andrographolide could promote homologous recombination(HR) repair and downregulate ds DNA-c GAS-STING signaling and contribute to the improvement of CPT-11-induced gastrointestinal mucositis. The fluoride-doped LiFePO4/C samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and electrochemical testing. The results show that the materials are well crystallized and fluoride doping cannot change the space structure of LiFePO4. Slight amounts of Fe2O3 with no fluoride impurity were detected. Charge-discharge curves show that fluoride-doped samples have higher capacity at low rates compared with undoped LiFePO4/C. AlF3-doped samples have highest capacity at high discharge current. Both doped samples have larger polarization voltage than undoped samples.
