1Distribution of heavy metals in sediments of the Pearl River Estuary,Southern China:Implications for sources and historical changes显示文摘The distribution of heavy metals(Pb,Zn,Cd and As) in sediments of the Pearl River Estuary was investigated.The spatial distribution of heavy metals displayed a decreasing pattern from the turbidity maxima to both upstream and downstream of the estuary,which suggested that suspended sediments played an important role in the trace metal distribution in the Pearl River Estuary.In addition,metal concentrations were higher in the west part of the estuary which received most of the pollutants from the Pearl River.In the sediment cores,fluxes of heavy metals were consistent with a predominant anthropogenic input in the period 1970-1990.From the mid-1990s to the 2000s,there was a significant decline in heavy metal pollution.The observed decline has shown the result of pollution control in the Pearl River Delta.However,it is noteworthy that the metal concentrations in the most recent sediment still remained considerably high.Taken together,the enrichment of heavy metals in sediments was largely controlled by anthropogenic pollution.Feng Ye Xiaoping Huang Dawen Zhang Lei Tian Yanyi Zeng 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,4:18
2Relationship between nutrients and plankton biomass in the turbidity maximum zone of the Pearl River Estuary显示文摘Nutrients,dissolved and particulate organic carbon and plankton(bacterio-,phyto-and zoo-)were compared in the turbidity maximum zone(TMZ) and adjacent areas(non-TMZ) in the Pearl River estuary.Our results showed that high levels of suspended substances had marked effect on dynamics of nutrients and plankton in the TMZ.Based on the cluster analysis of total suspended solids(TSS) concentrations,all stations were divided into two groups,TMZ with average TSS of 171 mg/L and non-TMZ of 45 mg/L.Suspended substances adsorbed PO^(3-)_4 and dissolved organic carbon,resulting in higher particulate phosphorus and organic carbon(POC)and lower PO^(3-)_4 and DOC in the TMZ,compared to the non-TMZ.However,suspended substances had limited effect on nitrogenous nutrients.Phytoplankton growth was light-limited due to high concentrations of suspended substances in the TMZ and a peak of phytoplankton abundance appeared in the non-TMZ.In contrast,the highest bacterial abundance occurred in the TMZ,which was likely partly responsible for low DOC levels.Two peaks of zooplankton abundance observed in the TMZ and non-TMZ in the Pearl River estuary were primarily supported by bacteria and phytoplankton,respectively.Our finding implied that high levels of suspended solids in the TMZ affect the trophic balance.Zhen Shi Jie Xu Xiaoping Huang Xia Zhang Zhijian Jiang Feng Ye Ximei Liang 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,7:12
3Study and application of temporal index technology显示文摘This paper addresses the mathematical relation on a set of periods and temporal indexing construc- tions as well as their applications. First we introduce two concepts, i.e. the temporal connection and temporal inclusion, which are equivalence relation and preorder relation respectively. Second, by study- ing some basic topics such as the division of 'large' equivalence classes and the overlaps of preorder relational sets, we propose a temporal data index model (TDIM) with a tree-structure consisting of a root node, equivalence class nodes and linearly ordered branch nodes. Third, we study algorithms for the temporal querying and incremental updating as well as dynamical management within the framework of TDIM. 4Experimental investigation of ash deposits on convection heating surfaces of a circulating fluidized bed municipal solid waste incinerator显示文摘Incineration of municipal solid waste(MSW) is a waste treatment method which can be sustainable in terms of waste volume reduction, as well as a source of renewable energy.During MSW combustion, increased formation of deposits on convection heating exchanger surfaces can pose severe operational problems, such as fouling, slagging and corrosion.These problems can cause lower heat transfer efficiency from the hot flue gas to the working fluid inside the tubes. A study was performed where experiments were carried out to examine the ash deposition characteristics in a full-scale MSW circulating fluidized bed(CFB) incinerator, using a newly designed deposit probe that was fitted with six thermocouples and four removable half rings. The influence of probe exposure time and probe surface temperature(500, 560, and 700℃) on ash deposit formation rate was investigated. The results indicate that the deposition mass and collection efficiency achieve a minimum at the probe surface temperature of 560℃. Ash particles are deposited on both the windward and leeward sides of the probe by impacting and thermophoretic/condensation behavior. The major inorganic elements present in the ash deposits are Ca,Al and Si. Compared to ash deposits formed on the leeward side of the probe,windward-side ash deposits contain relatively higher Ca and S concentrations, but lower levels of Al and Si. Among all cases at different surface temperatures, the differences in elemental composition of the ash deposits from the leeward side are insignificant.However, as the surface temperature increases, the concentrations of Al, Si, K and Na in the windward-side ash deposits increase, but the Ca concentration is reduced. 5Microstructure and properties of novel Al-Ce-Sc,Al-Ce-Y,Al-Ce-Zr and Al-Ce-Sc-Y alloy conductors processed by die casting,hot extrusion and cold drawing显示文摘In order to overcome the trade-off between the strength and electrical conductivity of aluminum alloy conductors,the new Al-Ce-Sc,Al-Ce-Y,Al-Ce-Zr and Al-Ce-Sc-Y alloys were prepared by die casting,high temperature homogenization treatment,hot extrusion and cold drawing.Adding Sc and Y eliminated the dendrite segregation of the as-cast Al-0.2 Ce alloy and promoted the formation of equiaxed grains with the average grain size of 142.5μm.The Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc-0.1 Y alloy inherited the great tensile properties of Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc alloy and the high electrical conductivity of Al-0.2 Ce-0.1 Y alloy simultaneously.After cold drawing and annealing at 200℃for 5 h,the ultimate tensile strength of Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc-0.1 Y alloy reached 200 MPa and 198 MPa,the elongation reached 6.8%and 8.5%,and the electrical conductivity reached 61.01%and 61.77%,respectively.The main second phase of Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc-0.1 Y alloy after hot extrusion were Al_(13)Fe_3 Ce containing a few Y and Si atoms.The larger size and proportion of the second phase greatly reduced the concentration of solute Fe and Si atoms and the addition of Y significantly decreased the density of defects after cold drawing compared to Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc alloy,which improved electrical conductivity of the alloy.Furthermore,the dispersed and coherent nano-size Al_3 Sc precipitions of Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc-0.1 Y alloy greatly improved strength,elongation and heat resistance.Compared with Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc alloy,the lower density of dislocation,stacking fault and subgrain boundary and the larger size of Al_3 Sc precipitions with enrichment of Y atoms enable the Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc-0.1 Y alloy to maintain high strength,elongation and electrical conductivity after annealing.Weiyi Wang Qinglin Pan Geng Lin Xiaoping Wang Yuqiao Sun Xiangdong Wang Ji Ye Yuanwei Sun Yi Yu Fuqing Jiang Jun Li Yaru Liu 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,58,23:4

7Solution-processed lead-free bulk 0D Cs3Cu2I5 single crystal for indirect gamma-ray spectroscopy application显示文摘Bulk scintillators that are with high density,low cost,and fine pulse-height energy spectral resolution,and are nonhygroscopic and user friendly,are desired for high-energy gamma-ray spectroscopy application.Recently,low-cost solution-processed perovskite nanoscintillators have been demonstrated with outstanding performances for indirect low-energy X-ray detection;however,the stability and thickness are not suitable for high-energy gamma-ray detection.Here,we report scintillation performances of a low-cost solution-processed bulk 0D Cs3Cu2I5 single crystal.The self-trapped exciton emission results in a large Stokes shift (109 nm) that is reabsorption free.A broad X-ray excited emission matches well with the sensitivity of a silicon photodiode.The unique Cs+ surrounded isolated [Cu2I5]3-cluster scintillator provides ultra-stability in air and strong radiation hardness under high-dose gammaray exposure from a 60Co source.This solution-processed Cs3Cu2I5 scintillator is expected with low-cost and has detection performances comparable to commercial alkali-halide scintillator products.Qiang Xu Juan Wang Qindong Zhang Xiao Ouyang Maheng Ye Weiting Xie Xuewen Yan Deyuan Li Xiaoping Ouyang Xiaobing Tang Xiaodong Zhang 2021Photonics Research2021,9,3:3
8The protective effect and crucial biological pathways analysis of Trametes lactinea mycelium polysaccharides on acute alcoholic liver injury in mice based on transcriptomics and metabonomics显示文摘Trametes lactinea mycelia polysaccharides(TLMPS)have a wide range of bioactivities.The potential mechanisms of action of TLMPS against acute alcohol-induced liver injury in vivo were investigated by analyzing the physical and chemical properties of TLMPS and its protective effects on a mouse model of alcoholic liver injury.TLMPS protected the liver against alcohol-induced injury,as evidenced by the reduced alcohol-induced elevation of the liver index,serum biochemical indices,and maintenance of hepatic morphology.Potential mechanisms were analyzed using transcriptome and metabolome analyses.The transcriptome data revealed the involvement of many differentially expressed genes in chemical carcinogenesis,drug metabolism,and metabolism of xenobiotics by cytochrome P450.The metabolome analysis revealed that TLMPS significantly regulated specific metabolites in the liver,including organic acids,lipids,nucleosides,and organic oxygen compounds.KEGG enrichment analysis revealed the signifi cant involvement of different metabolites in choline metabolism,ATP-binding cassette transporters,and glycerophospholipid metabolism.Assessment of the changes in gene expression and metabolites revealed the significantly different expression of several genes encoding key enzymes and metabolites in choline metabolism pathway.The collective fi ndings confi rmed that choline metabolism plays an important role in the protective effects of TLMPS against acute alcoholic liver injury.Jinbin Hao Liyun Ye Guoliang Meng Yanjiao Song Junsheng Fu Xiaoping Wu 2021Food Science and Human Wellness2021,10,4:2
9Effects of breeding success,age and sex on breeding dispersal of a reintroduced population of the Crested Ibis(Nipponia nippon)in Ningshan County,China显示文摘Background: Breeding dispersal is an important ecological process that affects species' population dynamics and colonization of new suitable areas. Knowledge of the causes and consequences of breeding dispersal is fundamental to our understanding of avian ecology and evolution. Although breeding success for a wild and reintroduced population of the Crested Ibis(Nipponia nippon) has been reported, the relationships between individuals' breeding dispersal and their breeding success, age and sex remain unclear.Methods: Ibises' breeding dispersal distance, which is the distance moved by adults between sites of reproduction, was estimated based on the observations of consecutive breeding sites of marked ibis individuals. From observational and capture-recapture data(n as = 102) over 9 years, individuals' breeding dispersal probability in relation to age, sex, and reproductive success wanalyzed via a generalized linear mixed effect modeling approach.Results: Our results show that 55% males and 51% females keep their previous territories following nesting success. Failed breeding attempts increased dispersal probabilities. Both females and males failed in breeding were more likely to disperse with greater distances than successful birds(females: 825 ± 216 m vs 196 ± 101 m, males: 372 Crested Ibis exhibited a female-biased dispersal pattern that the mean dispersal distance± 164 m vs 210 ± 127 m). of females(435 ± 234 m) was much larger than that of males(294 ± 172 m).Conclusion: Our results are fundamental to predict the patterns of breeding dispersal related to reproductive success under different release sites. 10Can we reestablish a self-sustaining population?A case study on reintroduced Crested Ibis with population viability analysis显示文摘Background:One of the most challenging tasks in wildlife conservation and management is clarifying which and how external and intrinsic factors influence wildlife demography and long-term viability.The wild population of the Crested Ibis(Nipponia nippon)has recovered to approximately 4400,and several reintroduction programs have been carried out in China,Japan and Korea.Population viability analysis on this endangered species has been limited to the wild population,showing that the long-term population growth is restricted by the carrying capacity and inbreeding.However,gaps in knowledge of the viability of the reintroduced population and its drivers in the release environment impede the identification of the most effective population-level priorities for aiding in species recovery.Methods:The field monitoring data were collected from a reintroduced Crested Ibis population in Ningshan,China from 2007 to 2018.An individual-based VORTEX model(Version 10.3.5.0)was used to predict the future viability of the reintroduced population by incorporating adaptive patterns of ibis movement in relation to catastrophe frequency,mortality and sex ratio.Results:The reintroduced population in Ningshan County is unlikely to go extinct in the next 50 years.The popula-tion size was estimated to be 367,and the population genetic diversity was estimated to be 0.97.Sensitivity analysis showed that population size and extinction probability were dependent on the carrying capacity and sex ratio.The carrying capacity is the main factor accounting for the population size and genetic diversity,while the sex ratio is the primary factor responsible for the population growth trend.Conclusions:A viable population of the Crested Ibis can be established according to population viability analysis.Based on our results,conservation management should prioritize a balanced sex ratio,high-quality habitat and low mortality.Yashuai Zhan Fang Wang Zhenxia Cui Min Li Xia Li Xinping Ye Xiaoping Yu 2021Avian Research2021,12,2:2
11AN INTRUSION DETECTION SYSTEM BASED ON EVIDENCE THEORY AND ROUGH SET THEORY显示文摘In this paper,we propose a novel Intrusion Detection System (IDS) architecture utilizing both the evidence theory and Rough Set Theory (RST). Evidence theory is an effective tool in dealing with uncertainty question. It relies on the expert knowledge to provide evidences,needing the evidences to be independent,and this make it difficult in application. To solve this problem,a hybrid system of rough sets and evidence theory is proposed. Firstly,simplification are made based on Variable Precision Rough Set (VPRS) conditional entropy. Thus,the Basic Belief Assignment (BBA) for all evidences can be calculated. Secondly,Dempster’s rule of combination is used,and a decision-making is given. In the proposed approach,the difficulties in acquiring the BBAs are solved,the correlativity among the evidences is reduced and the subjectivity of evidences is weakened. 18AMPK interacts with DSCAM and plays an important role in Netrin-1 induced neurite outgrowth显示文摘Down syndrome cell adhesion molecule(DSCAM)acts as a netrin-1 receptor and mediates attractive response of axons to netrin-1 in neural development.However,the signaling mechanisms of netrin-DSCAM remain unclear.Here we report that AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK)interacts with DSCAM through itsγsubunit,but does not interact with DCC(deleted in co-lorectal cancer),another major receptor for netrin-1.Netrin-treatment of cultured cortical neurons leads to increased phosphorylation of AMPK.Both AMPK mu-tant with dominant-negative effect and AMPK inhibitor can significantly suppress netrin-1 induced neurite outgrowth.Together,these findings demonstrate that AMPK interacts with DSCAM and plays an important role in netrin-1 induced neurite outgrowth.Our study uncovers a previously unknown component,AMPK,in netrin-DSCAM signaling pathway.Kun Zhu Xiaoping Chen Jianghong Liu Haihong Ye Li Zhu Jane Y.Wu 2013Protein & Cell2013,4,2:1

20Signaling pathways in vascular function and hypertension:molecular mechanisms and therapeutic interventions显示文摘Hypertension is a global public health issue and the leading cause of premature death in humans.Despite more than a century of research,hypertension remains difficult to cure due to its complex mechanisms involving multiple interactive factors and our limited understanding of it.Hypertension is a condition that is named after its clinical features.Vascular function is a factor that affects blood pressure directly,and it is a main strategy for clinically controlling BP to regulate constriction/relaxation function of blood vessels.Vascular elasticity,caliber,and reactivity are all characteristic indicators reflecting vascular function.Blood vessels are composed of three distinct layers,out of which the endothelial cells in intima and the smooth muscle cells in media are the main performers of vascular function.The alterations in signaling pathways in these cells are the key molecular mechanisms underlying vascular dysfunction and hypertension development.In this manuscript,we will comprehensively review the signaling pathways involved in vascular function regulation and hypertension progression,including calcium pathway,NO-NOsGC-cGMP pathway,various vascular remodeling pathways and some important upstream pathways such as renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system,oxidative stress-related signaling pathway,immunity/inflammation pathway,etc.Meanwhile,we will also summarize the treatment methods of hypertension that targets vascular function regulation and discuss the possibility of these signaling pathways being applied to clinical work.Jun Ma Yanan Li Xiangyu Yang Kai Liu Xin Zhang Xianghao Zuo Runyu Ye Ziqiong Wang Rufeng Shi Qingtao Meng Xiaoping Chen 2023Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2023,8,5:1
