| 3 | Impact of postoperative omega-3 fatty acid-supplemented parenteral nutrition on clinical outcomes and immunomodulations in colorectal cancer patients显示文摘AIM: To investigate the effect of omega-3 fatty acid parenteral supplementation postoperatively on clinical outcomes and immunomodulation in colorectal cancer patients. METHODS: Forty-two patients undergoing radical colorectal cancer resection with an indication for total parenteral nutrition postoperatively were enrolled in this prospective, double-blind, randomized, controlled study. Patients received total parenteral nutrition supplemented with either soybean oil (LCT; Intralipid, Fresenius-Kabi, SO group, n = 21) or a combination of omega-3 fish oil and soybean oil (LCT:fish oil = 5:1, fish oil; Omegaven, Fresenius-Kabi, FO group, n = 21), up to a total of 1.2 g lipid/kg per day for 7 d postoperatively. A same volume calorie and nitrogen was administrated. Routine blood test, biochemistry, systemic levels of IL-6 and TNF-α, percentage of CD3+, CD4+, and CD8+ lymphocytes were evaluated preoperatively and on postoperative d 1 and 8. Patient outcome was evaluated considering mortality during the hospital stay, length of postoperative hospital stay, and occurrence of infectious complications. RESULTS: Both lipid regimens were well tolerated. No differences between the two groups were noticed in demographics, baseline blood test, biochemistry, serum levels of IL-6 and TNF-α, percentage of CD4+, CD8+ lymphocytes, and ratios of CD4+/CD8+. Compared with those on postoperative d 1, serum IL-6 levels onpostoperative d 8 were significantly depressed in the FO group than in the reference group (-44.43 ± 30.53 vs -8.39 ± 69.08, P = 0.039). Simultaneously, the ratios of CD4+/CD8+ were significantly increased in the FO group (0.92 ± 0.62 vs 0.25 ± 1.22, P = 0.035). In addition, depression of serum TNF-α levels (-0.82 ± 2.71 vs 0.27 ± 1.67, P = 0.125) and elevation of CD3+ and CD4+ lymphocyte percentage (12.85 ± 11.61 vs 3.84 ± 19.62, P = 0.081, 17.80 ± 10.86 vs 9.66 ± 17.55, P = 0.084, respectively) were higher in the FO group than in the reference group. Patients in the FO group trended to need a shorter postoperative hospital stay (17.45 ± 4.80 d vs 19.62 ± 5.59 d, P = 0.19). No statistically significant difference was found when stratified to mortality and occurrence of infectious complications. | 6 | Field released transgenic papaya effect on soil microbial communities and enzyme activities显示文摘Soil properties, microbial communities and enzyme activities were stud ied in soil amended with replicase (RP)-transgenic or non-transgenic papaya unde r field conditions. Compared with non-transgenic papaya, significant differences (P<0.05) were observed in total nitrogen in soils grown with transgenic papaya. There were also significant differences (P<0.05) in the total number of colony forming units (CFUs) of bacteria, actinomycetes and fungi between soils amended with RP-transgenic plants and non-transgenic plants. Compared with non-transgen ic papaya, the total CFUs of bacteria, actinomycetes and fungi in soil with tran sgenic papaya increased by 0.43—1.1, 0.21—0.80 and 0.46—0.73 times respective ly. Significantly higher (P<0.05) CFUs of bacteria, actinomycetes and fungi res istant to kanamycin (Km) were obtained in soils with RP-transgenic papaya than t hose with non-transgenic papaya in all concentrations of Km. Higher resistance q uotients for Kmr (kanamycin resistant) bacteria, actinomycetes and fungi were fo und in soil planted with RP-transgenic papaya, and the resistance quotients for Kmr bacteria, actinomycetes and fungi in soils with transgenic papaya increased 1.6—4.46, 0.63—2.5 and 0.75—2.30 times. RP-transgenic papaya and non-transg enic papaya produced significantly different enzyme activities in arylsulfatase (5.4—5.9x), polyphenol oxidase (0.7—1.4x), invertase (0.5—0.79x), cellulase ( 0.23—0.35x) and phosphodiesterase (0.16—0.2x). The former three soil enzymes appeared to be more sensitive to the transgenic papaya than the others, and cou ld be useful parameters in assessing the effects of transgenic papaya. NOproduction in the cultured supernatant wasmeasured with the Griese reaction. IntracellularcGMP level was detected with radioimmunoasey.RESULTS NO production was markedlyblocked by AG and L-NAME in a dose-dependentmanner under inflammatory stimuli conditiontriggered by CM in vitro. The rate of themaximum inhibitory effects of L-NAME (38.9%)was less potent than that obtained with AG(53.7%, P<0.05). There was no significantdifference between the inhibitory effects of AGand two L-arginine analogues on intracellularcGMP accumulation in rat cultured hepatocytes.Non-specific NOS expression inhibitordexamethasone ( DEX ) and iNOS mRNAtranscriptional inhibitor ActD also significantlyinhibited CM-induced NO production. | 13 | High-speed femtosecond laser plasmonic lithography and reduction of graphene oxide for anisotropic photoresponse显示文摘Micro/nanoprocessing of graphene surfaces has attracted significant interest for both science and applications due to its effective modulation of material properties,which,however,is usually restricted by the disadvantages of the current fabrication methods.Here,by exploiting cylindrical focusing of a femtosecond laser on graphene oxide(GO)films,we successfully produce uniform subwavelength grating structures at high speed along with a simultaneous in situ photoreduction process.Strikingly,the well-defined structures feature orientations parallel to the laser polarization and significant robustness against distinct perturbations.The proposed model and simulations reveal that the structure formation is based on the transverse electric(TE)surface plasmons triggered by the gradient reduction of the GO film from its surface to the interior,which eventually results in interference intensity fringes and spatially periodic interactions.Further experiments prove that such a regular structured surface can cause enhanced optical absorption(>20%)and an anisotropic photoresponse(~0.46 ratio)for the reduced GO film.Our work not only provides new insights into understanding the laser-GO interaction but also lays a solid foundation for practical usage of femtosecond laser plasmonic lithography,with the prospect of expansion to other two-dimensional materials for novel device applications. | Tingting Zou Bo Zhao Wei Xin Ye Wang Bin Wang Xin Zheng Hongbo Xie Zhiyu Zhang Jianjun Yang Chunlei Guo | 2020 | Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1: | 17 |
| 14 | Variety distribution pattern and climatic potential productivity of spring maize in Northeast China under climate change显示文摘This study was based on the daily meteorological data of 101 meteorological stations from 1971 to 2000 and the 0.25°×0.25° grid data from 1951 to 2100 simulated by RegCM3 under the future A1B climatic scenario published by National Climate Center,in combination with the demand of climatic condition for maize growth in Northeast China.The trajectory of agricultural climatic resources and the effects of climate change on variety distribution and climatic potential productivity of spring maize in Northeast China under future climate change were analyzed.The main agro-climatic resource factors include:the initial date daily average temperature stably passing 10℃(≥10℃),the first frost date,the days of growing period,the ≥10℃ accumulated temperature,and the total radiation and precipitation in the growing period.The results showed that:(1) in the coming 100 years,the first date of ≥10℃ would be significantly advanced,and the first frost date would be delayed.The days of growing period would be extended,the ≥10℃ accumulated temperature and the total radiation would be significantly increased.However,no significant change was found in precipitation.(2) Due to the climate change,the early-maturing varieties will be gradually replaced by late-maturing varieties in Northeast China,and the planting boundaries of several maize varieties would be extended northward and eastward.(3) There would be a significant change in the climatic potential productivity of maize in Northeast China with the high-value gradually moving towards northeast.(4) It was an effective way to increase the climatic potential productivity of maize by appropriate adjustment of sowing date. | YUAN Bin GUO JlanPing YE MingZhu ZHAO JunFang | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,26: | 16 |
| 15 | Self-microemulsifying drug delivery system for improving the bioavailability of huperzine A by lymphatic uptake显示文摘Huperzine A(Hup-A) is a poorly water-soluble drug with low oral bioavailability. A selfmicroemulsifying drug delivery system(SMEDDS) was used to enhance the oral bioavailability and lymphatic uptake and transport of Hup-A. A single-pass intestinal perfusion(SPIP) technique and a chylomicron flow-blocking approach were used to study its intestinal absorption, mesenteric lymph node distribution and intestinal lymphatic uptake. The value of the area under the plasma concentration–time curve(AUC) of Hup-A SMEDDS was significantly higher than that of a Hup-A suspension(P <0.01).The absorption rate constant(K_a) and the apparent permeability coefficient(P_(app)) for Hup-A in different parts of the intestine suggested a passive transport mechanism, and the values of K_a and P_(app) of Hup-A SMEDDS in the ileum were much higher than those in other intestinal segments. The determination of Hup-A concentration in mesenteric lymph nodes can be used to explain the intestinal lymphatic absorption of Hup-A SMEDDS. For Hup-A SMEDDS, the values of AUC and maximum plasma concentration(C_(max)) of the blocking model were significantly lower than those of the control model(P<0.05). | 20 | Evodiamine inhibits high-fat diet-induced colitis-associated cancer in mice through regulating the gut microbiota显示文摘Objective:High-fat diet is one of the main risk factors that disrupt the balance of gut microbiota,which eventually will induce colorectal cancer(CRC).Evodiamine(EVO)is a wildly used multifunctional traditional Chinese medicine extract.In this study,we investigated the role of gut microbiota in high-fat dietpropelled CRC and the potential of EVO for CRC chemoprevention.Methods:Gut microbiota,serum D-lactic acid and endotoxin from 38 patients with colon cancer and 18 healthy subjects were detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).In addition,body mass index,phospho-signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(p-STAT3)expression in cancer tissues and paracancerous tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry.A mouse intestinal inflammatory tumor model was established by azomethane/sodium dextran sulfate,followed by treatment with EVO and 5-aminosalicylic acid(ASA).Gut microbiota and inflammatory factors were detected by quantitative polymerase chain reaction,while serum D-lactic acid and endotoxin were detected by ELISA.Furthermore,cell proliferation,cell apoptosis,and interleukin(IL)-6/STAT3/P65 pathway were evaluated by 5-ethynyl-20-deoxyuridine,terminal-deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated nick-end labeling,and Western blot assays.Results:In patients with colon cancer,the numbers of Enterococcus faecalis and Escherichia coli were increased,while those of Bifidobacterium,Campylobacter and Lactobacillus were decreased.Serum endotoxin and D-lactic acid levels and p-STAT3 levels were significantly increased.In the mouse model,both EVO and ASA inhibited tumor formation,decreased the proliferation of tumor cells,and induced apoptosis of tumor cells.Compared with the control group,the numbers of E.faecalis and E.coli were decreased,while Bifidobacterium,Campylobacter and Lactobacillus numbers were increased.In the EVO group,serum endotoxin and D-lactic acid levels and inflammatory factors were significantly decreased.Further,the IL6/STAT3/P65 signaling pathway was inhibited in the EVO group.Conclusion:EVO may inhibit the occurrence of colon cancer by regulating gut microbiota and inhibiting intestinal inflammation.The potential mechanism involves inhibition of the IL6/STAT3/P65 signaling pathway,revealing its potential therapeutic significance in clinical applications. | Li-qing Zhu Li Zhang Jia Zhang Guo-lin Chang Gang Liu Dan-dan Yu Xiao-min Yu Mi-sheng Zhao Bin Ye | 2021 | Journal of Integrative Medicine2021,19,1: | 11 |
