1Inflammation and cancer: paradoxical roles in tumorigenesis and implications in immunotherapies显示文摘Chronic inflammation caused by persistent infections and metabolic disorders is thought to contribute to the increased cancer risk and the accelerated cancer progression.Oppositely,acute inflammation induced by bacteria-based vaccines or that is occurring after cancer selectively inhibits cancer progression and metastasis.However,the interaction between inflammation and cancer may be more complex than the current explanations for the relationship between chronic and acute inflammation and cancer.In this review,we described the impact of inflammation on cancer on the basis of three perspectives,including inflammation with different durations(chronic and acute inflammation),different scopes(systemic and local inflammation)and different occurrence sequences(inflammation occurring after and before cancer).In addition,we also introduced bacteria/virus-based cancer immunotherapies.We perceive that inflammation may be a double-edged sword with cancer-promoting and cancer-suppressing functions in certain cases.We expect to further improve the understanding of the relationship between inflammation and cancer and provide a theoretical basis for further research on their complex interaction.Xinghan Liu Lijie Yin Sunan Shen Yayi Hou 2023Genes & Diseases2023,10,1:2

3Facile scalable one-step wet-spinning of surgical sutures with shape memory function and antibacterial activity for wound healing显示文摘Surgical suture is commonly used in clinic due to its action in accelerating the process of wound healing.However,difficultly handling in minimally invasive surgery and bacteria-induced infection usually limit its use in a wide range of applications.Here,we report a facile scalable strategy to fabricate surgical sutures with shape memory function and antibacterial activity for wound healing.Specifically,a shape memory polyurethane(SMPU)with a transition temperature(Ttrans)at 41.3℃was synthesized by adjusting the mole ratio of the hard/soft segment,and then the shape memory surgical sutures containing polyhexamethylene biguanide hydrochloride(PHMB)as a model drug for antibacterial activity were fabricated by a facile scalable one-step wet-spinning approach,in which PHMB was directly dissolved in the coagulation bath that enable its loading into the sutures through the dual diffusion during the phase separation.The prepared sutures were characterized by their morphology,mechanical properties,shape memory,antibacterial activity,as well as biocompatibility before the wound healing capability was tested in a mouse skin suture-wound model.It was demonstrated that the optimized suture is capable of both shape memory function and antibacterial activity,and promote wound healing,suggesting that the facile scalable one-step wet-spinning strategy provides a promising tool to fabricate surgical sutures for wound healing.Xinghan Chen Pengfei Tan Ya Wen Wencheng Zhou Ying Cen Chao You Lin Tan Meng Tian 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,6:1

13Embryonic and post-embryonic responses to high-elevation hypoxia in a low-elevation lizard显示文摘Low-elevation species can migrate toward higher elevations to survive in a warming world.However,animals’responses to hypoxia when migrating to high elevations have rarely been addressed.To identify the response of lowelevation lizards to high-elevation hypoxia,we collected field body temperatures(Tfb)and operative temperatures(Te)of lizards(Eremias argus)from a low-elevation population(1036 m)and a high-elevation population(2036 m),and then determined adult thermal physiology,embryonic development,and hatchling phenotypes after acclimating low-elevation lizards and incubating their eggs in conditions mimicking the low-elevation oxygen condition(18.5%O2)and high-elevation oxygen(hypoxic)condition(16.5%O2).Our study revealed that Tfb and Te were higher for the low-elevation population compared to the high-elevation population.We also found adults from low elevation acclimated to hypoxia preferred lower body temperatures,but did not show changes in locomotor performance or growth.In addition,hypoxia did not affect embryonic development(hatching time and success)or hatchling phenotypes(body size and locomotor performance).These results suggest that adult lizards from low elevations can respond to hypoxia-induced stress when migrating to high elevations by behaviorally thermoregulating to lower body temperatures in order to sustain normal functions.Similarly,low-elevation embryos can develop normally(with unchanged hatching success and offspring phenotypes)under the high-elevation hypoxic condition.This study highlights that low-elevation populations of a species that inhabits a range of elevations can buffer the impact of high-elevation hypoxic conditions to some degree and thus attain similar fitness to the source population.Xinghan LI Pengfei WU Liang MA Christopher HUEBNER Baojun SUN Shuran LI 2020Integrative Zoology2020,15,4:0
14Local and systemic inflammation triggers different outcomes of tumor growth related to infiltration of anti-tumor or pro-tumor macrophages显示文摘Background: Previous evidence suggests inflammation may be a double-edged sword with cancer-promoting and cancer suppressing function. In this study, we explore the impact of local and systemic inflammation on cancer growth.Methods: Female BALB/C mice were subcutaneously implanted with foreign body (plastic plates) to build up a local inflammation and intraperitoneally injected with PolyIC or lipopolysaccharides (LPS) to build up a systemic inflammation, followed by subcutaneous injection of5 × 105 colon cancer cells. Immunohistochemistry and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay were utilized to detect the Ki67 and interleukin (IL) 6, IL-1β, and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 expression in the tumor tissues and serum, respectively. The distributions of immune cells and expression of toll-like receptors (TLRs) were evaluated by flow cytometry (FCM) and quantitative real time-polymerase chain reaction.Results: The results showed that local inflammation induced by foreign body implantation suppressed tumor growth with decreased tumor weight (P = 0.001), volume (P = 0.004) and Ki67 index (P < 0.001). Compared with the control group, myeloid-derived suppressive cells sharply decreased (P = 0.040), while CD4+ T cells slightly increased in the tumor tissues of the group of foreign body-induced local inflammation (P = 0.035). Moreover, the number of M1 macrophages (P = 0.040) and expression of TLRs, especially TLR3 (P < 0.001) and TLR4 (P < 0.001), were significantly up-regulated in the foreign body group. Contrarily, tumor growth was significantly promoted in LPS or PolyIC-induced systemic inflammation (P = 0.009 and 0.006). FCM results showed M1 type macrophages (P = 0.017 and 0.006) and CD8+ T cells (P = 0.031 and 0.023) were decreased, while M2 type macrophages (P = 0.002 and 0.007) were significantly increased in tumor microenvironment of LPS or PolyIC-induced systemic inflammation group. In addition, the decreased expression of TLRs was detected in LPS or PolyIC group.Conclusions: The foreign body-induced local inflammation inhibited tumor growth, while LPS or PolyIC-induced systemic inflammation promoted tumor growth. 15Frequency reconfigurable antenna actuated by inflated triangular structure:Design and analysis显示文摘This paper proposes a frequency reconfigurable triangular antenna actuated by an inflated triangular structure.The open path antenna is transformed from an open type to a closed structure by inflating.Inflatable structures are easy to manufacture by fusing 2 inextensible membranes together along a defined pattern of lines.However,the prediction of their deployed shape remains a challenge.To solve the pattern changed problem,guided by geometric analyses and local buckle characteristics,the inflated triangular structure has been designed and verified by experiment and simulation.In the process of transformation of the antenna,the resonant frequency of the antenna is changed because this frequency is determined by the conformational change.The resonant frequency changes from GHz to kHz when the design of initial structure sizes is from millimeter to meter.The measured peak gains,the frequency,and the radiation direction are also reconfigurable by the initial size.Finally,the reconfigurable resonator array is presented,which is coupled to electric fields to absorb all incident radiation.In this work,the changed pattern design by inflating is applied to the antenna design,and its frequency reconfigurability is achieved.Through the electricity performance analysis of the reconfigurable antenna,precise manufacturing will be possible and provide guidance for manufacturing frequency reconfigurable antennas.Jiaming GUO Xinghan QIU Jiawei ZHANG Lamei ZHANG Changguo WANG 2023Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2023,36,5:0
16High-Speed Numeral Filter in Impulse Voltage Measurement显示文摘Since the CPU of embed system has some limitation in operating speed, a new filter was put forward which implemented mountain template convolution by performing rectangle template convolution two times. It can obtain time and frequency localization with computational complexity greatly reduced. This algorithm was applied to lightning waveforms (include chopped waveforms) parameter calculation. It simplifies the computation and the results pretreated by this algorithm are in accord with IEC1083-2 completely. It was applied in embed system successfully. Its capability in frequency restraining was researched. The validity of the algorithm was proved in theory when processing lightning waves. 17An environmentally benign multi-component reaction:Highly regioselective synthesis of functionalized 2-(diarylphosphoryl)-1,2-dihydro-pyridine derivatives显示文摘A novel protocol was developed for the construction of highly functionalized 2-(diarylphosphoryl)-1,2-dihydropyridine derivatives(DAPDHPs)from 3-formylchromones(1),heterocyclic ketene aminals(HKAs,2),and phosphine oxides(R_(2)P(O)H,3)via a novel,one-pot cascade reaction.Optimization of the reaction conditions determined that refluxing the mixture of the 3-formylchromones,HKAs,and various R_(2)P(O)H in propylene carbonate(PC)in the presence of triethylamine as a base facilitated the highest yields of the DAPDHP products.This cascade reaction,which involved the cleavage of one C-O bond in the 3-formylchromone substrates and the formation of three new bonds(one C-C,one C-N,and one C-P bond),enabled the synthesis of a small library of DAPDHP products.The dearomatized DAPDHP products were formed by the regioselective nucleophilic addition of the R_(2)P(O)H reagents to the intermediate pyridinium salts 8.This approach has several advantages such as the use of an environmentally-friendly solvent,simple and practical operation(with filtration and washing without column chromatography separation),good yields,and a product with potential biological activity.Kun Li Ying Lv Zihan Lu Xinghan Yun Shengjiao Yan 2022Green Synthesis and Catalysis2022,3,1:0
18Cloning and biological activity of an anti-tumor peptide of Tumstatin显示文摘To obtain an anti-tumor peptide of Tumstatin and detect its biological activity,the nucleotide sequence encoding 185-203 amino acids(19peptide)of Tumstatin was synthesized and inserted into the fusion protein vector pTYB2.After identification by sequencing and restriction endonucle-ases,the recombined vector was transformed into BL-21(DE3)E.coli competent cells.Transformed E.coli BL-21(DE3)were induced by isopropyl-β-thiogalactopyranoside(IPTG),and then expressed.By 1,4-dithiothreitol(DTT)reduction,the soluble 19peptide was obtained from a chitin affinity chromatograph.The biological activity of 19peptide was determined by 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-y1]-2,5-dipheny-tetrazolium bromide(MTT)assay,cell growth curve,the effect of the ascitic fluid transfevent H22 hepatoma on mice and via histopathological slices.The purified 19peptide directly inhibited proliferation and migration of murine B16 melanoma cells,SMMC-7721hepatoma carcinoma cells and human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVEC).The tumor inhibition rate of mice ascitic fluid transfevent H22 hepatoma was 48.46%.Histopathological slices showed that it could promote tumor tissue necrosis and decrease the density of blood vessels.With higher anti-tumor activity,19peptide has the potential to become a novel,potent anti-tumor agent.WANG Shujing LIU Yan LIN Xuesong FU Xue XU Jianyong LIU Xinghan 2007Frontiers in Biology2007,2,3:0
19A nanosystem of copper(II)-disulfiram for cancer treatment with high efficacy and few side effects显示文摘Developing chemotherapy drugs with high efficacy and few side effects has been a bottleneck problem that requires an efficient solution.The active cancer treatment ingredient disulfiram(DSF),inspired by the copper(II)diethyldithiocarbamate complex(CuET),can be used in a one-pot synthesis method to construct a CuET delivery nanosystem(CuET-ZIFCu@HA).Due to the high biocompatibility,targeting of CD44 overexpressed cancer cells,and acid response of zeolitic imidazolate framework(ZIF)materials of hyaluronic acid(HA),we realized that CuET-ZIFCu@HA could become an effective and highly selective cancer treatment.Both in vivo and in vitro experiments have demonstrated that CuET-ZIFCu@HA has robust anti-tumor properties without evident side effects.This research provided a promising strategy for DSF nanosystems that involves simple preparation and high efficacy,both of which are key to reusing DSF in cancer treatment.Liping ZHAO Xiaoxia WANG Mingxia JIANG Xinghan WU Mogen ZHANG Xiuwen GUAN Jinlong MA Weifen ZHANG 2021Frontiers of Materials Science2021,15,4:0
20Does Light Exposure during Embryonic Development Affect Cognitive Behavior in a Lizard?显示文摘Light is essential for embryonic development in many ovipa rous animals including fish,amphibians,and birds.However,light may be harmful for reptile embryos developing underground where they are in complete darkness and beneath thin eggshells.Nonetheless,how embryonic light conditions affect reptile development and offspring remains largely unknown.Here we incubated eggs in dark and light conditions to determine the effects of light exposure on embryonic development and offspring visual ability,spa tial cognitive ability and growth in a lacertid lizard,Eremias argus.Our experiments demonstrated that light stimulation shortened incubation duration of eggs,but did not affect hatching success,offspring size,visual ability or survival More interestingly,light exposure during incuba tion decreased spa tial cognitive ability and post-hatching growth of offspring On the basis of nega tive effects on offspring growth rates,our study indicates that in squamate reptiles with thin eggshells,light exposure in early development has negative effects on offspring cognitive ability.Xinghan LI Chenxu WANG Guoshuai TANG Shuran LI Liang MA Baojun SUN Yongpu ZHANG 2020Asian Herpetological Research2020,11,1:0
