| 1 | Adakitic rocks and destruction of the North China Craton:Evidence from experimental petrology and geochemistry显示文摘The general temporal-spatial consistency for the formation of adakitic rocks and lithospheric thinning in northern China provide a window to examine the processes and mechanism for the destruction of the North China Craton.With experimental petrology data,this paper demonstrates that the adakitic rocks in northern China are the products of partial melting of middle-to high-potassic metabasalts at the base of the lower continent crust.Based on the TiO2 solubility model,many adakitic rocks in Dabie,Jiaodong and the northern part of the craton appear to have been saturated with TiO2.This indicates the presence of a Ti-rich accessory phase in their source regions.This phase must be rutile based on the decreasing Nb/La with increasing La/Yb in the adakitic rocks.The adakitic magmas were,thus,derived from a depth of more than 50 km,based on pressures (higher than 1.5 GPa) for the stability of rutile in a metabasalt system.Because present-day crustal thickness is generally only 35 km,we suggest that the destruction of the North China Craton may have led to at least 15 km of thinning or delamination of the crust. | XIONG XiaoLin LIU XingCheng ZHU ZhiMin LI Yuan XIAO Wan Sheng SONG MaoShuang ZHANG Sheng WU JinHua | 2011 | Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,6: | 34 |
| 2 | The Notch signaling pathway in retinal dysplasia and retina vascular homeostasis显示文摘The retina is one of the most essential elements of vision pathway in vertebrate. The dysplasia of retina cause congenital blindness or vision disability in individuals, and the misbalance in adult retinal vascular homeostasis leads to neovascularization-associated diseases in adults, such as diabetic retinopathy or age-related macular degeneration. Many developmental signaling pathways are involved in the process of retinal development and vascular homeostasis. Among them, Notch signaling pathway has long been studied, and Notch signaling-interfered mouse models show both neural retina dysplasia and vascular abnormality. In this review, we discuss the roles of Notch signaling in the maintenance of retinal progenitor cells, specification of retinal neurons and glial cells, and the sustaining of retina vascular homeostasis, especially from the aspects of conditional knockout mouse models. | 3 | Effects of 1-MCP on Post-Harvest Physiology of Tomato显示文摘Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum cv. 402) was used to investigate the effects of 1-MCP (1-methylcyclopropene) treatment on ethylene production, respiration, vitamin C, chlorophyll, titratable acid,change of fruit color and rot. The results indicated that 1-MCP strongly inhibited ethylene production and respiration of tomato at very low concentration, delayed the incidence of climacteric peak of ethylene production and respiration. 1-MCP also delayed the decrease of vitamin C, chlorophyll and titratable acid during shelf life and storage significantly. Shelf and storage life of fruit treated with 1-MCP were extended at least 10 days at ambient (20 - 22℃ ) and 15 days at storage (9 - 11℃ ) temperature, respectively. Efficacy of 1-MCP on shelf and storage life was improved by increasing its concentration. | 4 | Tree-ring-based reconstruction of temperature variability(1445–2011) for the upper reaches of the Heihe River Basin, Northwest China显示文摘Long-term temperature variability has significant effects on runoff into the upper reaches of inland rivers. This paper developed a tree-ring chronology of Qilian juniper(Sabina przewalskii Kom.) from the upper tree-line of the middle Qilian Mountains within the upper reaches of Heihe River Basin, Northwest China for a long-term reconstruction of temperature at the study site. In this paper, tree-ring chronology was used to examine climate-growth associations considering local climate data obtained from Qilian Meteorological Station. The results showed that temperatures correlated extremely well with standardized growth indices of trees(r=0.564, P<0.001). Tree-ring chronology was highest correlated with annual mean temperature(r=0.641, P<0.0001). Annual mean temperature which spans the period of 1445–2011 was reconstructed and explained 57.8% of the inter-annual to decadal temperature variance at the regional scale for the period 1961–2011. Spatial correlation patterns revealed that reconstructed temperature data and gridded temperature data had a significant correlation on a regional scale, indicating that the reconstruction represents climatic variations for an extended area surrounding the sampling sites. Analysis of the temperature reconstruction indicated that major cold periods occurred during the periods of 1450s–1480s, 1590s–1770s, 1810s–1890s, 1920s–1940s, and 1960s–1970s. Warm intervals occurred during 1490s–1580s, 1780s–1800s, 1900s–1910s, 1950 s, and 1980 s to present. The coldest 100-year and decadal periods occurred from 1490s–1580s and 1780s–1800s, respectively, while the warmest 100 years within the studied time period was the 20 th century. Colder events and intervals coincided with wet or moist conditions in and near the study region. The reconstructed temperature agreed well with other temperature series reconstructed across the surrounding areas, demonstrating that this reconstructed temperature could be used to evaluate regional climate change. Compared to the tree-ring reconstructed temperature from nearby regions and records of glacier fluctuations from the surrounding high mountains, this reconstruction was reliable, and could aid in the evaluation of regional climate variability. | 7 | The mechanosensitive lncRNA Neat1 promotes osteoblast function through paraspeckle-dependent Smurf1 mRNA retention显示文摘Mechanical stimulation plays an important role in bone remodeling. Exercise-induced mechanical loading enhances bone strength,whereas mechanical unloading leads to bone loss. Increasing evidence has demonstrated that long noncoding RNAs(lnc RNAs) play key roles in diverse biological, physiological and pathological contexts. However, the roles of lnc RNAs in mechanotransduction and their relationships with bone formation remain unknown. In this study, we screened mechanosensing lnc RNAs in osteoblasts and identified Neat1, the most clearly decreased lnc RNA under simulated microgravity. Of note, not only Neat1 expression but also the specific paraspeckle structure formed by Neat1 was sensitive to different mechanical stimulations, which were closely associated with osteoblast function. Paraspeckles exhibited small punctate aggregates under simulated microgravity and elongated prolate or larger irregular structures under mechanical loading. Neat1 knockout mice displayed disrupted bone formation, impaired bone structure and strength, and reduced bone mass. Neat1 deficiency in osteoblasts reduced the response of osteoblasts to mechanical stimulation. In vivo, Neat1 knockout in mice weakened the bone phenotypes in response to mechanical loading and hindlimb unloading stimulation. Mechanistically, paraspeckles promoted nuclear retention of E3 ubiquitin ligase Smurf1 m RNA and downregulation of their translation, thus inhibiting ubiquitination-mediated degradation of the osteoblast master transcription factor Runx2, a Smurf1 target. | 8 | Elevational patterns of bird species richness on the eastern slope of Mt.Gongga,Sichuan Province,China显示文摘Background:In biological systems,biological diversity often displays a rapid turn-over across elevations.This defining feature has made mountains classic systems for studying the spatial variation in diversity.Because patterns of elevational diversity can vary among lineages and mountain systems it remains difficult to extrapolate findings from one montane region to another,or among lineages.In this study,we assessed patterns and drivers of avian diversity along an elevational gradient on the eastern slope of Mt.Gongga,the highest peak in the Hengduan Mountain Range in central China,and a mountain where comprehensive studies of avian diversity are still lacking.Methods:We surveyed bird species in eight 400-m elevational bands from 1200 to 4400 m a.s.l.between 2012 and 2017.To test the relationship between bird species richness and environmental factors,we examined the relative importance of seven ecological variables on breeding season distribution patterns:land area(LA),mean daily temperature(MDT),seasonal temperature range(STR),the mid-domain effect(MDE),seasonal precipitation(SP),invertebrate biomass(IB) and enhanced vegetation index(EVI).Climate data were obtained from five local meteorological stations and three temperature/relative humidity smart sensors in 2016.Results:A total of 219 bird species were recorded in the field,of which 204 were recorded during the breeding season(April–August).Species richness curves(calculated separately for total species,large-ranged species,and smallranged species) were all hump-shaped.Large-ranged species contributed more to the total species richness pattern than small-ranged species.EVI and IB were positively correlated with total species richness and small-ranged species richness.LA and MDT were positively correlated with small-ranged species richness,while STR and SP were negatively correlated with small-ranged species richness.MDE was positively correlated with large-ranged species richness.When we considered the combination of candidate factors using multiple regression models and model-averaging,total species richness and large-ranged species richness were correlated with STR(negative) and MDE(positive),while small-ranged species richness was correlated with STR(negative) and IB(positive).Conclusions:Although no single key factor or suite of factors could explain patterns of diversity,we found that MDE,IB and STR play important but varying roles in shaping the elevational richness patterns of different bird species categories.Model-averaging indicates that small-ranged species appear to be mostly influenced by IB,as opposed to large-ranged species,which exhibit patterns more consistent with the MDE model.Our data also indicate that the species richness varied between seasons,offering a promising direction for future work. | Xingcheng He Xiaoyi Wang Shane DuBay Andrew Hart Reeve Per Alstrom Jianghong Ran Qiao Liu Yongjie Wu | 2019 | Avian Research2019,10,1: | 3 |

| 12 | The partitioning behavior of trace elements in subduction zones:Advances and prospects显示文摘The partitioning behavior of trace elements is of key importance for understanding the geochemical process and material cycle mechanism in subduction zones.This paper focuses on the advances and prospects on the studies of trace element partitioning in subduction zones from the following four aspects.(1)The properties of fluids derived from subducting slabs and their ability in element transport.How slab-derived solute-rich fluids and supercritical fluids are formed and what the roles and key control factors of these fluids are in transferring of elements(especially the high field strength elements)from slab to wedge are discussed.We point out that the detailed investigations of supercritical fluids may provide a new perspective for the element migration mechanism,material cycle process,arc magma genesis and so on.(2)The behavior of transition elements during mantle wedge melting.The behavior of the first row transition elements(Sc,Ti,V,Cr,Mn,Fe,Co,Ni,Cu,Zn)in the mantle partial melting process is compatible or incompatible,depending on residual mineral assemblage and physicochemical conditions.The partitioning behavior of the elements such as Sc,Ti,Co,Ni and Zn whose valence states do not change in the melting process mainly depends on the residual mineral assemblage and temperature,whereas the partitioning behavior of the multivalent elements such as V and Fe is also the function of oxygen fugacity(fO_(2))in addition to mineral assemblage and temperature.Therefore,the partitioning behavior of transition elements has important applications in tracing lithologic inhomogeneity and fO_(2)of the mantle wedges.(3)The specificity of element partitioning behavior during arc magma evolution.Garnet has Dy/Yb partitioning behavior different from amphibole,and rutile has Nb/Ta partitioning behavior different from amphibole.Dy/Yb and Nb/Ta partitioning differences for these minerals enable to distinguish the specific evolution process of arc magmas.The Dy/Yb and Nb/Ta generally decrease with the increase of SiO_(2)in arc magmas,indicating that amphibole fractionation should be the most important during arc magma differentiation.(4)The behavior of sulfur and chalcophile elements and porphyry metallogeny.In subduction zones,the behavior of chalcophile elements such as Cu and Au is controlled by sulfide and fluid.Therefore,the stability of sulfide,the time at which the fluid exsolves from the melt relative to sulfide saturation,the fluid/sulfide mass ratio and fluid/melt Cu and Au partition coefficients in intermediate-felsic magma-H_(2)O systems are especially important in understanding Cu and Au enrichment in magma-hydrothermal processes.Intermediate-felsic magmas mainly originate from the differentiation of arc magmas at lower crustal reservoirs,and thus the fluid exsolution from the lower crustal reservoirs and the fluid/melt and fluid/sulfide partition coefficients of Cu and Au should be the keys to understanding quantitatively how Cu and Au are migrated from the deep crust to the shallow site of mineralization. | Xiaolin Xiong Xingcheng Liu Li Li Jintuan Wang Wei Chen Mengfei Ruan Ting Xu Zhongxing Sun Fangfang Huang Jianping Li&Lei Zhang | 2020 | Science China Earth Sciences2020,63,12: | 2 |
