1Sediment delivery ratio and its uncertainties on flood event scale:Quantification for the Lower Yellow River显示文摘Sediment delivery ratio(SDR)for fluvial rivers was formulated with sediment rating curve.The observed data of SDR on flood event scale of the Lower Yellow River(LYR)were adopted to examine the formulation and to calibrate the model parameters.A regression formula of SDR was then established and its 95%prediction interval was accordingly quantified to represent its overall uncertainties.Three types of factors including diversity of the incoming flow conditions,river self-regulation processes,and human activities were ascribed to the uncertainties.The following were shown:(1)With the incoming sediment coefficient(ISC)being a variable,it was not necessary to adopt the incoming flow discharge as the second variable in the formulation of SDR;and(2)ISC=0.003 and therefore SDR=2 might be a threshold for distinguishing the characteristics of sediment transport within the LYR.These findings would highlight sediment transport characteristics on the scale of flood event and contribute to uncertainty based analysis of water volume required for sediment transport and channel maintenance of the LYR.FU XuDong 1,JIANG LiWei 1,WU BaoSheng 1,HU ChunHong 2,WANG GuangQian 1 &FEI XiangJun 1 1State Key Laboratory of Hydroscience and Engineering,Tsinghua University,Beijing 100084,China 2China Institute of Hydropower and Water Resources Research,Beijing 100044,China 2010Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,3:7
2A modified rheological model of natural debris flows显示文摘The two coefficients of the linear dimensionless viscous-dispersive mixture model have been modified according to their rheological properties of different types of viscous debris flows based on the observation and experimental data of debris flows and their slurries in the field, and then a rheological model of hyperconcentrated debris flows has been derived. 3Planar Velocity Distribution of Viscous Debris Flow at Jiangjia Ravine,Yunnan,China:A Field Measurement Using Two Radar Velocimeters显示文摘Characteristics of planar velocity distribution of vis-cous debris flow were analyzed using the measured data at Jiangjia Ravine,Yunnan,China. The velocity data were measured through using two radar velocimeters. The cross-sectional mean velocities were calculated and used to examine Kang et al's(2004) relation-ship,which was established for converting the flow velocity at river centerline measured by a radar velocimeter into the mean velocity based on the stop-watch method. The velocity coefficient,K,defined by the ratio of the mean velocity to the maximum ve-locity,ranges from 0.2 to 0.6. Kang et al's(2004) relationship was found being inapplicable to flows with K smaller than 0.43. 7Reviving chloroquine for anti-SARS-CoV-2 treatment with cucurbit[7]uril-based supramolecular formulation显示文摘The wide-spreading SARS-CoV-2 virus has put the world into boiling water for more than a year,however pharmacological therapies to act effectively against coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)remain elusive.Chloroquine(CQ),an antimalarial drug,was found to exhibit promising antiviral activity in vitro and in vivo at a high dosage,thus CQ was approved by the FDA for the emergency use authorization(EUA)in the fight against COVID-19 in the US,but later was revoked the EUA status due to the severe clinical toxicity.Herein,we show that supramolecular formulation of CQ by a macrocyclic host,curcurbit[7]uril(CB[7]),reduced its non-specific toxicity and improved its antiviral activity against coronavirus,working in synergy with CB[7].CB[7]was found to form 1:1 host-guest complexes with CQ,with a binding constant of$104 L/mol.The CQ-CB[7]formulation decreased the cytotoxicity of CQ against Vero E6 and L-02 cell lines.In particular,the cytotoxicity of CQ(60 mmol/L)against both Vero E6 cell line and L-02 cell lines was completely inhibited in the presence of 300 mmol/L and 600 mmol/L CB[7],respectively.Furthermore,the CB[7]alone showed astonishing antiviral activity in SARS-CoV-2 infected Vero E6 cells and mouse hepatitis virus strain A59(MHV-A59)infected N2 A cells,and synergistically improved the antiviral activity of CQ-CB[7],suggesting that CB[7]-based CQ formulation has a great potential as a safe and effective antiviral agent against SARS-CoV-2 and other coronavirus.Cheryl H.T.Kwong Jingfang Mu Shengke Li Yaohui Fang Qianyun Liu Xiangjun Zhang Hiotong Kam Simon M.Y.Lee Yu Chen Fei Deng Xi Zhou Ruibing Wang 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,10:1
8ENERGY DISSIPATION AND CALCULATION OF RESISTANCE AND VELOCITY OF DEBRIS FLOW显示文摘Because of the high concentration and broad grain-size composition, the mechanism of debris flow is very complicated. The urgent problems in debris flow control, such as the calculations of debris flow resistance and velocity, are not Perfectly solved until now. In this paper, according to the theory of sediment transport mechanics, the movement types and energy dissipation of different size grains are analyzed. 9CONCENTRATION AND VELOCITY OF DEBRIS FLOWS显示文摘Debris flows in nature generally fall into three groups distinct in their grain composition: water-stone flow, or sub-viscous debris flow, dominated by coarse grains; muddy flow, dominated by fine grains; and viscous debris flow composed of grains in large range. Liquid-phase velocity and sedimentary delivery resistance of sub-viscous debris flow have been discussed based on the composition characters of sub- and high-viscous debris flows. It is revealed that the presence of fine grains plays a vital role in affecting resistance and average velocity, particularly when the volume fraction of grains in the flow is relatively high, i.e. Sv > 0.45. Grain-size distribution of viscous debris flow is characterized by a bimodal curve, which explains the properties like high density and low resistance gradient of debris flows. A calculation formula is finally put forward, which has to some extent overcome locality limits and achieved a good agreement with the field observations of debris flows in Southwest China.Xiangjun FEI Peng CUI Yong LI 2002International Journal of Sediment Research2002,17,3:0
