| 1 | Removal of microcystin-LR from drinking water using a bamboo-based charcoal adsorbent modified with chitosan显示文摘A new kind of low-cost syntactic adsorbent from bamboo charcoal and chitosan was developed for the removal of microcystin-LRfrom drinking water. Removal effciency was higher for the syntactic adsorbent when the amount of bamboo charcoal was increased. The optimum dose ratio of bamboo charcoal to chitosan was 6:4, and the optimum amount was 15 mg/L; equilibrium time was 6 hr. The adsorption isotherm was non-linear and could be simulated by the Freundlich model (R2 = 0.9337). Adsorption efficiency was strongly afflected by pH and natural organic matter (NOM). Removal efficiency was 16% higher at pH 3 than at pH 9. Efficiency rate was reduced by 15% with 25 mg/L NOM (UV254 = 0.089 cm-1) in drinking water. | 2 | Oxidative stress and apoptosis of Carassius auratus lymphocytes induced by nonplanar (PCB153) and coplanar (PCB169) polychlorinated biphenyl congeners in vitro显示文摘Among all the 209 kinds of polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs) congeners,nonplanar and coplanar PCB congeners have different levels of toxicity on mammal cells such as neuronal cells,but little is known about their toxicity on fish cells although PCB congeners usually have high bioaccumulation abilities in the detected fish bodies.This study showed that 2,2',4,4',5,5'-hexacholorbiphenyl(PCB153,nonplanar congener) and 3,3',4,4',5,5'-hexacholorbiphenyl(PCB169,coplanar congener) caused apoptosis on the isolated crucian carp(Carassius auratus) lymphocytes and the induced cytotoxicity was structure-dependent.According to the laser confocal microscope observations,apoptosis was clearly distinguished by condensation of nucleus,shrinkage and formation of apoptotic bodies.DNA fragmentation was detected by agarose gel electrophoresis.These typical morphological and biochemical characteristics indicate the occurrence of apoptosis on fish lymphocytes.According to the flow cytometry analysis,after the cells were exposed to 10μmol/L PCBs for 3 h,the apoptotic percentage induced by PCB153 was 23.41%,while that induced by PCB169 was even higher(31.03%) . Furthermore,incubating PCBs with fish lymphocytes enhanced levels of reactive oxygen species(ROS) and malondialdehyde(MDA) ,clearly indicating the presence of oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation.Our data also demonstrate that the different cytotoxic effects induced by coplanar and nonplanar PCBs were correlated with their structural characteristics and the coplanar congener was more cytotoxic than nonplanar congener.This study suggests that cytotoxicity mechanisms of the PCB congeners on fish lymphocytes depend on their planarity and chemical structures. | ZHANG Jianying ZHANG Hangjun NI Wanmin | 2009 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,9: | 3 |

| 4 | Fabrication of Fe nanocomplex pillared few-layered Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)MXene with enhanced rate performance for lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Pillaring technologies have been considered as an effective way to improve lithium storage performance of Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)MXene.Nevertheless,the pillared hybrids suffer from sluggish Li^(+)diffusion kinetics and electronic transportation due to the compact multi-layered MXene structure,thus exhibiting inferior rate performance.Herein,the few-layered Ti_(3)O_(2)MXene(f-Ti_(3)C_(2)MXene)which is free from restacking can be prepared quickly based on the NH4^(+)ions method.Besides,Fe nanocomplex pillared few-layered Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)(FPTC)heterostructures are fabricated via the intercalation of Fe ions into the interlayer of f-Ti_(3)C_(2)MXene.The f-Ti_(3)C_(2)MXene which is immune to restacking can provide a highly conductive substrate for the rapid transport of Li+ions and electrons and possess adequate electrolyte accessible area.Moreover,f-Ti_(3)C_(2)MXene can efficiently relieve the aggregation,prevent the pulverization and buffer the large volume change of Fe nanocomplex during lithiation/delithiation process,leading to enhanced charge transfer kinetics and excellent structural stability of FPTC composites.Consequently,the FPTC hybrids exhibit a high capacity of 535 mAh·g^(-1)after 150 cycles at 0.5 A·g^(-1)and an enhanced rate performance with 310 mAh·g^(-1)after 850 cycles at 5 A·g^(-1).This strategy is facile,universal and can be extended tofabricate various few-layered MXene-derived hybrids with superior rate capability. | Pengfei Huang Shunlong Zhang Hangjun Ying Wentao Yang Jianli Wang Rongnan Guo Weiqiang Han | 2021 | Nano Research2021,14,4: | 3 |
| 5 | Partial Atomic Tin Nanocomplex Pillared Few-Layered Ti_(3)C_(2)Tx MXenes for Superior Lithium-Ion Storage显示文摘MXenes have attracted great interest in various fields,and pillared MXenes open a new path with larger interlayer spacing.However,the further study of pillared MXenes is blocked at multilayered state due to serious restacking phenomenon of few-layered MXene nanosheets.In this work,for the first time,we designed a facile NH4+method to fundamentally solve the restacking issues of MXene nanosheets and succeeded in achieving pillared few-layered MXene.Sn nanocomplex pillared few-layered Ti3C2Tx(STCT)composites were synthesized by introducing atomic Sn nanocomplex into interlayer of pillared few-layered Ti3C2Tx MXenes via pillaring technique.The MXene matrix can inhibit Sn nanocomplex particles agglomeration and serve as conductive network.Meanwhile,the Sn nanocomplex particles can further open the interlayer spacing of Ti3C2Tx during lithiation/delithiation processes and therefore generate extra capacity.Benefiting from the“pillar effect,”the STCT composites can maintain 1016 mAh g^?1 after 1200 cycles at 2000 mA g^?1 and deliver a stable capacity of 680 mAh g^?1 at 5 A g^?1,showing one of the best performances among MXene-based composites.This work will provide a new way for the development of pillared MXenes and their energy storage due to significant breakthrough from multilayered state to few-layered one. | Shunlong Zhang Hangjun Ying Bin Yuan Renzong Hu Wei-Qiang Han | 2020 | Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,6: | 3 |
| 6 | Differentiation of coral trout (Plectropomus leopardus) based on an analysis of morphology and complete mitochondrial DNA: Are cryptic species present?显示文摘Two morphotypes of Plectropomus leopardus have been identified; morphometric and meristic analyses show that there is no diagnostic difference between them. A difference in color pattern was the most appropriate phenotypic character with which to distinguish between the two morphotypes. Complete mitochondrial DNA sequencing, however, indicated a clear difference between the two morphotypes. Barcoding analysis revealed no significant difference (P>0.05) in CO1 or ND2 divergence among intramorphotypic individuals, even between geographically separated populations, whereas the intermorphotypic CO1 and ND2 divergences were large enough (averaging 0.95% for CO1 and 1.37% for ND2) to clearly discriminate between the two morphotypes. | 8 | Superscalar communication: A runtime optimization for distributed applications显示文摘Building distributed applications is difficult mostly because of concurrency management. Existing approaches primarily include events and threads. Researchers and developers have been debating for decades to prove which is superior. Although the conclusion is far from obvious, this long debate clearly shows that neither of them is perfect. One of the problems is that they are both complex and error-prone. Both events and threads need the programmers to explicitly manage concurrencies, and we believe it is just the source of difficulties. In this paper, we propose a novel approach—superscalar communication, in which concurrencies are automatically managed by the runtime system. It dynamically analyzes the programs to discover potential concurrency opportunities; and it dynamically schedules the communication and the computation tasks, resulting in automatic concurrent execution. This approach is inspired by the idea of superscalar technology in modern microprocessors, which dynamically exploits instruction-level parallelism. However, hardware superscalar algorithms do not fit software in many aspects, thus we have to design a new scheme completely from scratch. Superscalar communication is a runtime extension with no modification to the language, compiler or byte code, so it is good at backward compatibility. | 19 | Metagenomic insights into the effects of submerged plants on functional potential of microbial communities in wetland sediments显示文摘Submerged plants in wetlands play important roles as ecosystem engineers to improve self-purification and promote elemental cycling.However,their effects on the functional capacity of microbial communities in wetland sediments remain poorly understood.Here,we provide detailed metagenomic insights into the biogeochemical potential of microbial communities in wetland sediments with and without submerged plants(i.e.,Vallisneria natans).A large number of functional genes involved in carbon(C),nitrogen(N)and sulfur(S)cycling were detected in the wetland sediments.However,most functional genes showed higher abundance in sediments with submerged plants than in those without plants.Based on the comparison of annotated functional genes in the N and S cycling databases(i.e.,NCycDB and SCycDB),we found that genes involved in nitrogen fixation(e.g.,nifD/H/K/W),assimilatory nitrate reduction(e.g.,nasA and nirA),denitrification(e.g.,nirK/S and nosZ),assimilatory sulfate reduction(e.g.,cysD/H/J/N/Q and sir),and sulfur oxidation(e.g.,glpE,soeA,sqr and sseA)were significantly higher(correctedp<0.05)in vegetated vs.unvegetated sediments.This could be mainly driven by environmental factors including total phosphorus,total nitrogen,and C:N ratio.The binning of metagenomes further revealed that some archaeal taxa could have the potential of methane metabolism including hydrogenotrophic,acetoclastic,and methylotrophic methanogenesis,which are crucial to the wetland methane budget and carbon cycling.This study opens a new avenue for linking submerged plants with microbial functions,and has further implications for understanding global carbon,nitrogen and sulfur cycling in wetland ecosystems. | Binhao Wang Xiafei Zheng Hangjun Zhang Xiaoli Yu Yingli Lian Xueqin Yang Huang Yu Ruiwen Hu Zhili He Fanshu Xiao Qingyun Yan | 2021 | Marine Life Science & Technology2021,3,4: | 1 |
