| 1 | Oral bacteria colonize and compete with gut microbiota in gnotobiotic mice显示文摘The oral microbiota is associated with oral diseases and digestive systemic diseases.Nevertheless,the causal relationship between them has not been completely elucidated,and colonisation of the gut by oral bacteria is not clear due to the limitations of existing research models.The aim of this study was to develop a human oral microbiota-associated (HOMA) mouse model and to investigate the ecological invasion into the gut.By transplanting human saliva into germ-free (GF) mice,a HOMA mouse model was first constructed.16S rRNA gene sequencing was used to reveal the biogeography of oral bacteria along the cephalocaudal axis of the digestive tract.In the HOMA mice,84.78% of the detected genus-level taxa were specific to the donor.Principal component analysis (PCA) revealed that the donor oral microbiota clustered with those of the HOMA mice and were distinct from those of specific pathogen-free (SPF) mice.In HOMA mice,OTU counts decreased from the stomach and small intestine to the distal gut.The distal gut was dominated by Streptococcus,Veillonella,Haemophilus,Fusobacterium,Trichococcus and Actinomyces.HOMA mice and human microbiota-associated (HMA) mice along with the GF mice were then cohoused.Microbial communities of cohoused mice clustered together and were significantly separated from those of HOMA mice and HMA mice.The Source Tracker analysis and network analysis revealed more significant ecological invasion from oral bacteria in the small intestines,compared to the distal gut,of cohoused mice.In conclusion,a HOMA mouse model was successfully established.By overcoming the physical and microbial barrier,oral bacteria colonised the gut and profiled the gut microbiota,especially in the small intestine. | Bolei Li Yang Ge Lei Cheng Benhua Zeng Jinzhao Yu Xian Peng Jianhua Zhao Wenxia Li Biao Ren Mingyun Li Hong Wei Xuedong Zhou | 2019 | International Journal of Oral Science2019,11,3: | 7 |

| 6 | Interface-engineered MoS_(2)/CoS/NF bifunctional catalysts for highly-efficient water electrolysis显示文摘The utilization of non-noble metal catalysts with robust and highly efficient electrocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)are extremely important for the large-scale implementation of renewable energy devices.Integration of bifunctional electrocatalysts on both anode and cathode electrodes remains a significant challenge.Herein,we report on a novel and facile strategy to construct the ordered and aligned MoS_(2)nanosheet-encapsulated metal–organic frameworks(MOFs)derived hollow CoS polyhedron,in-situ grown on a nickel foam(NF).The starfish-like MoS_(2)/CoS/NF heterojunctions were formed due to the ordered growth of the material caused by NF substrate.The optimized 2-MoS_(2)/CoS/NF heterojunction exhibits robust bifunctional electrocatalytic activity with a low overpotential of 67 and 207 m V toward the HER and OER at 10 mA cm^(-2),and the long-term stability,which exceeds most of the reported bifunctional electrocatalysts.Such high electrocatalytic performance arises due to the synergistic effect between the MoS_(2)and CoS phases across the interface,the abundant active sites,as well as the hierarchical pore framework,which collectively enhance the mass and electron transfer during the reactions.The work provides a promising approach to fabricating bifunctional catalysts with custom-designed heterojunctions and remarkable performance for applications in electrochemical energy devices and related areas. | Wenxia Chen Xingwang Zhu Rui Wang Wei Wei Meng Liu Shuai Dong Kostya Ken Ostrikov Shuang-Quan Zang | 2022 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,,12: | 1 |

| 8 | B-cell-derived IL-10 promotes allergic sensitization in asthma regulated by Bcl-3显示文摘Aeroallergen sensitization,mainly mediated by lung epithelium and dendritic cells(DCs),is integral to allergic asthma pathogenesis and progression.IL-10 has a dual role in immune responses,as it inhibits myeloid cell activation but promotes B-cell responses and epithelial cell proliferation.Here,we report a proinflammatory function of B-cell-derived IL-10 modulated by Bcl-3 in allergic asthma.Specifically,Bcl-3^(−/−)mice showed elevated IL-10 levels and were found to be highly vulnerable to allergic asthma induced by house dust mites(HDMs).IL-10 had a positive correlation with the levels of the DC chemoattractant CCL-20 in HDM-sensitized mice and in patients with asthma and induced a selective increase in CCL-20 production by mouse lung epithelial cells.Blockade of IL-10 or IL-10 receptors during sensitization dampened both HDM-induced sensitization and asthma development.IL-10 levels peaked 4 h post sensitization with HDM and IL-10 was primarily produced by B cells under Bcl-3–Blimp-1–Bcl-6 regulation.Mice lacking B-cell-derived IL-10 displayed decreased lung epithelial CCL-20 production and diminished DC recruitment to the lungs upon HDM sensitization,thereby demonstrating resistance to HDM-induced asthma.Moreover,responses to HDM stimulation in Bcl-3^(−/−)mice lacking B-cell-derived IL-10 were comparable to those in Bcl-3^(+/+)mice.The results revealed an unexpected role of B-cell-derived IL-10 in promoting allergic sensitization and demonstrated that Bcl-3 prevents HDM-induced asthma by inhibiting B-cell-derived IL-10 production.Thus,targeting the Bcl-3/IL-10 axis to inhibit allergic sensitization is a promising approach for treating allergic asthma. | Guojun Qian Wenxia Jiang Donglin Sun Zhun Sun Anning Chen Hongwei Fang Jingyao Wang Yongzhong Liu Zhinan Yin Haiming Wei Hao Fang Xiaoren Zhan | 2023 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2023,20,11: | 1 |

Common endodontic treatment concepts are based on the removal of inflamed or necrotic pulp tissue and the replacement by gutta-percha. However, it is very essential for endodontic treatment to debride the root canal system and prevent the root canal system from bacterial reinfection after root canal therapy(RCT). Recent research, encompassing bacterial etiology and advanced imaging techniques, contributes to our understanding of the root canal system’s anatomy intricacies and the technique sensitivity of RCT. Success in RCT hinges on factors like patients, infection severity, root canal anatomy, and treatment techniques. Therefore, improving disease management is a key issue to combat endodontic diseases and cure periapical lesions. The clinical difficulty assessment system of RCT is established based on patient conditions, tooth conditions, root canal configuration, and root canal needing retreatment, and emphasizes pre-treatment risk assessment for optimal outcomes. The findings suggest that the presence of risk factors may correlate with the challenge of achieving the high standard required for RCT.
