| 1 | Observations and computations of narrow Kelvin ship wakes显示文摘Computations of far-field ship waves,based on linear potential flow theory and the Hogner approximation,are reported for monohull ships and catamarans.Specifically,far-field ship waves are computed for six monohull ships at four Froude numbers F≡V/√gL=0.58,0.68,0.86,1.58 and for six catamarans with nondimensional hull spacing s≡S/L=0.25 at two Froude numbers F s≡V/√gS=1 and 2.5.Here,g is the gravitational acceleration,V and L denote the ship speed and length,and S is the separation distance between the twin hulls of a catamaran.The computations show that,although the amplitudes of the waves created by a ship are strongly influenced by the shape of the ship hull,as well known,the ray angles where the largest waves are found are only weakly influenced by the hull shape and indeed are mostly a kinematic feature of the flow around a ship hull.An important practical consequence of this flow feature is that the apparent wake angle of general monohull ships or catamarans(with arbitrarily-shaped hulls)can be estimated,without computations,by means of simple analytical relations;these relations,obtained elsewhere via parametric computations,are given here.Moreover,the influence of the two parameters F s and s that largely determine the ray angles of the dominant waves created by a catamaran is illustrated via computations for three catamarans with hull spacings s=0.2,0.35,0.5 at four Froude numbers F s=1,1.5,2,2.5.These computations confirm that the largest waves created by wide and/or fast catamarans are found at ray angles that only depend on F s(i.e.that do not depend on the hull spacing s)in agreement with an elementary analysis of lateral interference between the dominant waves created by the bows(or sterns)of the twin hulls of a catamaran.The dominant-waves ray angles predicted by the theory of wave-interference effects for monohull ships and catamarans are also compared with the observations of narrow Kelvin ship wakes reported by Rabaud and Moisy,and found to be consistent with these observations. | Francis Noblesse Chenliang Zhang Jiayi He Yi Zhu Chenjun Yang Wei Li | 2016 | Journal of Ocean Engineering and Science2016,1,1: | 1 |
| 2 | Chemical Modifications on Linen forUnsaturated Polyester Composites显示文摘Linen was chemically modified by oleoyl chloride(OC) and stearoyl chloride(SC) to graft fatty moietiesonto fiber via ester connections. Pyridine was used as solvent. The reaction was simplified by reacting the compoundsin air at 60℃ for 6 h. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) and thermal gravimetric analysis were con-ducted to characterize the treated fiber. The FTIR result confirms that the fatty portions have been successfullygrafted onto the fiber after the chemical modification. The thermal stability of the SC-modified linen(SCL) was simi-lar to that of the flax modified by oleoyl chloride(OCL). SCL and OCL demonstrated a temperature of 5% mass loss,which was above 200 ℃ and could meet the requirements of the processing conditions for most composites. The-reafter, the SCL-reinforced unsaturated polyester(UPE) composites were prepared and characterized. The compositepresented a much better impact strength of 61.1 J/m and tensile modulus of 1.69 GPa than those of UPE with appli-cable thermal stability. | 8 | Carboxyl-functionalized Nanocellulose Reinforced Nanocomposite Proton Exchange Membrane显示文摘Nanocellulose(NCC) was prepared through the acid hydrolysis of microcellulose(MCC) and was reacted with maleic anliydride to obtain carboxyl-functionized nanocellulose(MA-NCCs). The presence of .OH and .SO3H on the surface of rod-like MA-NCC was confirmed by Fourier transfonn infrared spectrometry(FTIR). Sulfonated poly(aryl ether ether ketone ketone)(Ph-SPEEKK) was synthesized with bis(4-fluorophenyl-methanone) and 2-phenylhydroquinone as monomer. MA-NCC/Ph-SPEEKK nanocomposite membranes with different MA-NCCs content were prepared, and their properties were characterized. Compared with Ph-SPEEKK, MA-NCC/Ph-SPEEKK nanocomposite membrane showed better mechanical and thermal properties and higher proton conductivity. The proton conductivity of the composite membrane with 4%(mass fraction) MA-NCCs under 80℃ was 0.095 S/cm. | 9 | X-box binding protein 1 caused an imbalance in pyroptosis and mitophagy in immature rats with di-(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate-induced testis toxicity显示文摘As a widely used plasticizer,di-(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate(DEHP)is known to induce significant testicular injury.However,the potential mechanism and effects of pubertal exposure to DEHP on testis development remain unclear.In vivo,postnatal day(PND)21 male rats were gavaged with 0,250,and 500 mg/kg DEHP for ten days.Damage to the seminiferous epithelium and disturbed spermatogenesis were observed after DEHP exposure.Meanwhile,oxidative stress-induced injury and pyroptosis were activated.Both endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress and mitophagy were involved in this process.Monoethylhexyl phthalate(MEHP)was used as the biometabolite of DEHP in vitro.The GC-1 and GC-2 cell lines were exposed to 0,100μM,200μM,and 400μM MEHP for 24 h.Reactive oxygen species(ROS)generation,oxidative stress damage,ER stress,mitophagy,and pyroptosis were significantly increased after MEHP exposure.The ultrastructure of the ER and mitochondria was destroyed.X-box binding protein 1(XBP1)was observed to be activated and translocated into the nucleus.ROS generation was inhibited by acetylcysteine.The levels of antioxidative stress,ER stress,mitophagy,and pyroptosis were decreased as well.After the administration of the ER stress inhibitor 4-phenyl-butyric acid,both mitophagy and pyroptosis were inhibited.Toyocamycin-induced XBP1 down-regulation decreased the levels of mitophagy and pyroptosis.The equilibrium between pyroptosis and mitophagy was disturbed by XBP1 accumulation.In summary,our findings confirmed that DEHP induced a ROS-mediated imbalance in pyroptosis and mitophagy in immature rat testes via XBP1.Moreover,XBP1 might be the key target in DEHP-related testis dysfunction. | Yifan Hong Xiazhu Zhou Qi Li Jing Chen Yuexin Wei Chunlan Long Lianju Shen Xiangqin Zheng Dinggang Li Xia Wang Chenjun Yu Shengde Wu Guanghui Wei | 2024 | Genes & Diseases2024,11,2: | 0 |
