3Robust Deadlock Avoidance Policy for Automated Manufacturing System With Multiple Unreliable Resources显示文摘This work studies the robust deadlock control of automated manufacturing systems with multiple unreliable resources. Our goal is to ensure the continuous production of the jobs that only require reliable resources. To reach this goal, we propose a new modified Banker's algorithm(MBA) to ensure that all resources required by these jobs can be freed. Moreover,a Petri net based deadlock avoidance policy(DAP) is introduced to ensure that all jobs remaining in the system after executing the new MBA can complete their processing smoothly when their required unreliable resources are operational. The new MBA together with the DAP forms a new DAP that is robust to the failures of unreliable resources. 5Determining the critical size of a rabbit rib segmental bone defect model显示文摘In order to establish and standardize the rabbit rib segmental bone defect model,it is of vital importance to determine rabbit rib critical size defect(CSD).According to the general time needed for spontaneous long-bone regeneration,three-month observation period was set to determine the CSD.The rabbit rib segmental bone defects with different sizes from 1 to 5cm with or without periosteum were performed in the eighth rib of 4-month-old male New Zealand rabbits and underwent Xray examinations at the 4th,8th and 12th weeks postoperatively.The gross and histological examinations at postoperative week 12 were evaluated,which showed that the critical sizes in the rabbit rib models with and without periosteum were 5 and 2 cm,respectively.This study provides prerequisite data for establishing rabbit rib CSD model and evaluating bonematerials using this model.Fengzhen Liu Kun Chen Lei Hou Keyi Li Dawei Wang Bin Zhang Xiumei Wang 2016Regenerative Biomaterials2016,3,5:2
6Carboniferous integrative stratigraphy and timescale of China显示文摘The Carboniferous period lasted about 60 Myr, from ~358.9 Ma to ~298.9 Ma. According to the International Commission on Stratigraphy, the Carboniferous System is subdivided into two subsystems, i.e., Mississippian and Pennsylvanian, including 6 series and 7 stages. The Global Stratotype Sections and Points(GSSPs) of three stages have been ratified, the Tournaisian, Visean, and Bashkirian stages. The GSSPs of the remaining four stages(i.e., the Serpukhovian, Moscovian,Kasimovian, and Gzhelian) have not been ratified so far. This paper outlines Carboniferous stratigraphic subdivision and correlation on the basis of detailed biostratigraphy mainly from South China, and summarizes the Carboniferous chronostratigraphic framework of China. High-resolution biostratigraphic study reveals 37 conodont zones, 24 foraminiferal(including fusulinid) zones, 13 ammonoid zones, 10 brachiopod zones, and 10 rugose coral zones in the Carboniferous of China. The biostratigraphic framework based on these biozones warrants the precise correlation of regional stratigraphy of China(including2 subsystems, 4 series, and 8 stages) to that of the other regions globally. Meanwhile, the Carboniferous chemo-, sequence-,cyclo-, and event-stratigraphy of China have been intensively studied and can also be correlated worldwide. 7Influencing factors on the preservation of lytic bacteriophage VP3显示文摘Long-term and stable preservation of bacteriophages is of crucial importance.Although many efforts have been made in the past decades to explore the influence of external factors on bacteriophage preservation,there is still little understanding,and a systematic description is lacking.In this study,we explored the influence of different factors on the preservation of lytic bacteriophage VP3,one of the typing bacteriophages of Vibrio cholerae O1 biotype El Tor,and attempted to optimize its preservation.We examined external factors,including temperature,solution,and cryoprotectant,in stable cooling/freezing conditions or alternate cooling/freezing and thawing.We found that whether in Luria-Bertani(LB)medium or SM buffer,in terms of 20-week stable cooling or freezing,−20℃ was the most damaging while 4℃,−80℃,and−196℃ were protective.Thirteen cycles of alternate cooling/freezing and thawing caused a loss in the survival rates of bacteriophages.The addition of cryoprotectant,glycerol(30%,w/v)or dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSO,10%,w/v)significantly improved the survival rates of bacteriophages preserved at−20℃.However,at 4℃,−80℃,and−196℃,the cryoprotectant effect was only slightly positive or even harmful.In summary,for bacteriophage VP3,the best preservation method is to directly preserve the bacteriophage stocks in LB medium at−80℃ or−196℃ instead of storing them in SM buffer or adding cryoprotectant.Our results provided insights into the external influencing factors on bacteriophage VP3 during preservation at low temperature and can be applied to the optimization of bacteriophage preservation in the future.Yue Xiao Pin Huang Zhenzhou Huang Keyi Yu Yang Song Ning Guo Hang Dai Mengnan Jiang Yi Xu Duochun Wang Qiang Wei 2022Biosafety and Health2022,4,5:2
8Incorporating topographic factors in nonlinear mixed-effects models for aboveground biomass of natural Simao pine in Yunnan,China显示文摘A total of 128 Simao pine trees(Pinus kesiya var. langbianensis) from three regions of Pu'er City,Yunnan Province, People's Republic of China, were destructively sampled to obtain tree aboveground biomass(AGB). Tree variables such as diameter at breast height and total height, and topographical factors such as altitude,aspect of slope, and degree of slope were recorded. We considered the region and site quality classes as the random-effects, and the topographic variables as the fixedeffects. We fitted a total of eight models as follows: leastsquares nonlinear models(BM), least-squares nonlinear models with the topographic factors(BMT), nonlinear mixed-effects models with region as single random-effects(NLME-RE), nonlinear mixed-effects models with site as single random-effects(NLME-SE), nonlinear mixed-effects models with the two-level nested region and site random-effects(TLNLME), NLME-RE with the fixed-effects of topographic factors(NLMET-RE), NLME-SE with the fixed-effects of topographic factors(NLMET-SE), and TLNLME with the fixed-effects of topographic factors(TLNLMET). The eight models were compared by modelfitting and prediction statistics. The results showed: model fitting was improved by considering random-effects of region or site, or both. The models with the fixed-effects of topographic factors had better model fitting. According to AIC and BIC, the model fitting was ranked as TLNLME[ NLMET-RE [ NLME-RE [ NLMET-SE [ TLNLMET[ NLME-SE [ BMT [ BM. The differences among these models for model prediction were small. The model prediction was ranked as TLNLME [ NLME-RE [ NLMES E [ N L M E T- R E [ N L M E T- S E [ T L N L M E T [BMT [ BM. However, all eight models had relatively high prediction precision([90 %). 9Suppression of ETI by PTI priming to balance plant growth and defense through an MPK3/MPK6-WRKYs-PP2Cs module显示文摘Pattern-triggered immunity(PTI)and effector-triggered immunity(ETI)are required for host defense against pathogens.Although PTI and ETI are intimately connected,the underlying molecular mechanisms remain elusive.In this study,we demonstrate that flg22 priming attenuates Pseudomonas syringae pv.tomato DC3000(Pst)AvrRpt2-induced hypersensitive cell death,resistance,and biomass reduction in Arabidopsis.Mitogen-activated protein kinases(MAPKs)are key signaling regulators of PTI and ETI.The absence of MPK3 and MPK6 significantly reduces pre-PTI-mediated ETI suppression(PES).We found that MPK3/MPK6 interact with and phosphorylate the downstream transcription factor WRKY18,which regulates the expression of AP2C1 and PP2C5,two genes encoding protein phosphatases.Furthermore,we observed that the PTI-suppressed ETI-triggered cell death,MAPK activation,and growth retardation are significantly attenuated in wrky18/40/60 and ap2c1 pp2c5 mutants.Taken together,our results suggest that the MPK3/MPK6-WRKYs-PP2Cs module underlies PES and is essential for the maintenance of plant fitness during ETI.Dacheng Wang Lirong Wei Ting Liu Jinbiao Ma Keyi Huang Huimin Guo Yufen Huang Lei Zhang Jing Zhao Kenichi Tsuda Yiming Wang 2023Molecular Plant2023,16,5:1

13Tree-ring δ^(15)N of Qinghai spruce in the central Qilian Mountains of China:Is pre-treatment of wood samples necessary?显示文摘A knowledge of the tree-ring stable nitrogen isotope ratio(δ^(15)N)can deepen our understanding of forest ecosystem dynamics by indicating the long-term availability,cycling and sources of nitrogen(N).However,the radial mobility of N blurs the interannual variations in the long-term N records.Previous studies of the chemical extraction of tree rings before analysis had produced inconsistent results and it is still unclear whether it is necessary to pre-treat wood samples from specific tree species to remove soluble N compounds before determining theδ^(15)N values.We compared the effects of pre-treatment with organic solvents and hot ultrapure water on the N concentration andδ^(15)N of tree rings from endemic Qinghai spruce(Picea crassifolia)growing in the interior of the central Qilian Mountains,China,during the last 60 a.We assessed the effects of different preparation protocols on the removal of the labile N compounds and investigated the need to pre-treat wood samples before determining theδ^(15)N values of tree rings.Increasing trends of the tree-ring N concentration were consistently observed in both the extracted and unextracted wood samples.The total N removed by extraction with organic solvents was about 17.60%,with a significantly higher amount in the sapwood section(P<0.01).Theδ^(15)N values of tree rings decreased consistently from 1960 to 2019 in both the extracted and unextracted wood samples.Extraction with organic solvents increased theδ^(15)N values markedly by about 5.2‰and reduced the variations in theδ^(15)N series.However,extraction with hot ultrapure water had little effect,with only a slight decrease in theδ^(15)N values of about 0.5‰.Our results showed that the radial pattern in the inter-ring movement of N in Qinghai spruce was not minimized by extraction with either organic solvents or hot ultrapure water.It is unnecessary to conduct hot ultrapure water extraction for the wood samples from Qinghai spruce because of its negligible effect on the removal of the labile N.Theδ^(15)N variation trend of tree rings in the unextracted wood samples was not influenced by the heartwood-sapwood transition zone.We suggest that theδ^(15)N values of the unextracted wood samples of the climate-sensitive Qinghai spruce could be used to explore the ecophysiological dynamics while focusing on the long-term variations.WANG Ziyi LIU Xiaohong WANG Keyi ZENG Xiaomin ZHANG Yu GE Wensen KANG Huhu LU Qiangqiang 2022Journal of Arid Land2022,14,6:1
14Controllable two-dimensional Kerr and Raman–Kerr frequency combs in microbottle resonators with selectable dispersion显示文摘We report a broadband two-dimensional(2 D) Kerr and Raman–Kerr frequency comb generation in a silica bottle resonator accounting for azimuthal and axial degrees of freedom and pioneer a method that allows for controlled and reversible switching between a four wave mixing(FWM) state and a stimulated Raman scattering state. The repetition rate of the Raman–Kerr comb is not an integer number of the free spectral range, which spans more than 242 nm with hundreds of teeth. We show that, experimentally and numerically, multiple 2 D comb regimes can be selectively accessed via dispersion engineering by exciting different orders of axial modes or modifying the curvature of the axial profile, involving cascaded FWM, Raman lasing, and Raman-assisted FWM. The effect of axial curvature on dispersion is associated with the axial mode number in bottle resonators.
