1Potential land for plantation of Jatropha curcas as feedstocks for biodiesel in China显示文摘As a renewable energy,biofuel has attracted great attention in China and the rest of world.Concerned with the national food security,China recently has shifted its biofuel development priority from grain-based to non-grain-based biofuels,including forest-based biodiesel,since 2007.Jatropha curcas is one of major biodiesel feedstocks.However,there is rising debate on availability of land for expanding Jatropha curcas areas.The overall goal of this paper is to evaluate potential land for Jatropha curcas used as feedstock for biodiesel in China.Based on remote sensing data on land use,data on meteorological,soil and land slope,and suitable environment for Jatropha curcas plantation,this study uses Agro Ecological Zone method and considers social-economic constraints to evaluate potential suitable land for Jatropha curcas plantation in China's major Jatropha curcas production region,Southwest China.The results show that while there are some potential lands to expand Jatropha curcas areas,amount of these lands will hardly meet the government's target for Jatropha curcas-based biodiesels development in the future.China may need to reconsider its long-term targets on the development of Jatropha curcas-based biodiesels.WU WeiGuang 1,2,3,HUANG JiKun 1,3 & DENG XiangZheng 1,3 1 Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Beijing 100101,China 2 Department of Economics and Management,Zhejiang Forestry University,Linan 311300,China 3 Center for Chinese Agricultural Policy,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Beijing 100101,China 2010Science China Earth Sciences2010,53,1:7
2Doxorubicin-loaded zein in situ gel for interstitial chemotherapy of colorectal cancer显示文摘The aim of this research was to evaluate doxorubicin(DOX)-loaded zein in situ gels,a new drug delivery system in which a liquid state drug can be transformed into semi-solid after intratumoral injection.In vitro release of DOX-loaded zein was investigated and the pharmacokinetics,biodistribution and therapeutic efficacy of these DOX-loaded zein formulations were investigated using BAI B/c nude tumor-bearing mice.In vitro release of DOX from the gels extended up to 7 days.Efficient accumulation of DOX in the tumor with lower drug concentration in blood and normal organs was obtained resulting in effective inhibition of tumor growth and fewer off-target side effects.In conclusion,a DOX-loaded in situ gel was developed with sustained release,enhanced anti-cancer efficacy for colorectal cancer in vivo,and especially with reduced off-target side effects.Ning Shen Jie Hu Linan Zhang Li Zhang Yongjun Sun Yinghua Xie Shaomei Wu Lei Liu Zibin Gao 2012Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2012,2,6:3
3Ecological stoichiometry of nitrogen, phosphorous, and sulfur in China's forests显示文摘Much attention has been paid to the stoichiometry of carbon(C), nitrogen(N), and phosphorus(P) because of their significance for plant growth and climate change. However, other nutrients, such as sulfur(S), are often ignored. In this study, we analyzed the stoichiometry of N, P, and S in leaves of 348 plant species in China's forests. The results show higher N content and higher molar ratios of N/P and P/S in Angiospermae than in Gymnospermae. At the family level, Ulmaceae absorbed more N and P from soils than other families, and Cupressaceae absorbed more S than other families. In addition,except for bamboo and other tropical forests, leaf N and P content of China's forests generally increased from low to middle latitudes and then slightly decreased or plateaued at high latitudes. Plant ecotypes, taxonomic groups, environmental conditions, atmospheric S precipitation, and soil-available N and P significantly affected the distribution and stoichiometry of leaf N, P, and S in China's forests.Our study indicates that China's forests are likely limited by P and S deficiencies which may increase in the future.Yuntao Wu Hongyan Liu Zhaoliang Song Xiaomin Yang Zichuan Li Qian Hao Linan Liu 2017Acta Geochimica2017,36,3:2
4Combination therapy using microwave ablation and d-mannose-chelated iron oxide nanoparticles inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma progression显示文摘Despite being a common therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),insufficient thermal ablation can leave behind tumor residues that can cause recurrence.This is believed to augment M2 inflammatory macrophages that usually play a pro-tumorigenic role.To address this problem,we designed D-mannose-chelated iron oxide nanoparticles(man-IONPs) to polarize M2-like macrophages into the antitumor Ml phenotype.In vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrated that man-IONPs specifically targeted M2-like macrophages and accumulated in peri-ablation zones after macrophage infiltration was augmented under insufficient microwave ablation(MWA).The nanoparticles simultaneously induced polarization of pro-tumorigenic M2 macrophages into antitumor M1 phenotypes,enabling the transformation of the immunosuppressive microenvironment into an immunoactivating one.Post-MWA macrophage polarization exerted robust inhibitory effects on HCC progression in a well-established orthotopic liver cancer mouse model.Thus,combining thermal ablation with man-IONPs can salvage residual tumors after insufficient MWA.These results have strong potential for clinical translation.Rui Cui Luo Wang Dongyun Zhang Kun Zhang Jianping Dou Linan Dong Yixuan Zhang Jiapeng Wu Longfei Tan Jie Yu Ping Liang 2022Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,9:2
5Iron isotopic analyses of geological reference materials on MC-ICP-MS with instrumental mass bias corrected by three independent methods显示文摘Here we report iron(Fe) isotopic data of three pure Fe solution standards(IRMM-014, GSB Fe, and NIST3126a) and five widely used geological reference materials(RMs) from the United States Geological Survey and Geological Survey of Japan obtained on a Neptune Plus multi-collector–inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometer(MC-ICP-MS) in our laboratory over the past 3 years. The instrumental mass bias was corrected by three independent methods: sample-standard bracketing(SSB),Ni doping + SSB, and ^(57)Fe–^(58)Fe double spike + SSB.Measurements reveal that both the Ni doping and double spike methods helped calibrate short-term fluctuations in mass bias. Collectively, almost all measurements of RMs yielded δ^(56)Fe within ± 0.05 of recommended values,provided that each sample was measured four times on MC-ICP-MS. 9Fotemustine-based therapy in combination with rituximab as a first-line induction chemotherapy followed by WBRT for newly diagnosed primary central nervous system lymphoma: a prospective phase II trial显示文摘Objective:This study aimed to evaluate the safety,efficacy,and feasibility of the rituximab,fotemustine,pemetrexed,and dexamethasone(R-FPD)regimen followed by whole-brain radiotherapy(WBRT)for patients with primary central nervous system lymphoma(PCNSL).Methods:A prospective,single-center phase II clinical trial was conducted.Patients with PCNSL newly diagnosed at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University between July 2018 and July 2020 were studied.The R-FPD regimen consisted of rituximab(375 mg/m2 i.v.on D0),fotemustine(100 mg/m2 i.v.on D1),pemetrexed(600 mg/m2 i.v.on D1),and dexamethasone(40 mg i.v.on D1-5).Patients 60 years or younger who showed a complete response(CR)were treated with 23.4 Gy of WBRT after the end of chemotherapy;those older than 60 years with CR were treated with a wait-and-see approach;and those who did not show CR after the 4th cycle of chemotherapy were given salvage WBRT 30 Gy+local tumor field irradiation up to 45 Gy,regardless of age.Results:A total of 30 patients were included.After 2 cycles,the objective response rate(ORR)was 96.5%(28/29,1 CR,27 PR,0 SD,and 1 PD).After 4 cycles,the ORR was 73.1%(19/26,11 CR,8 PR,4 SD,and 3 PD).After WBRT,the ORR was 90.9%(10/11,7 CR,3 PR,and 1 SD).The grade III and IV toxicity responses were mainly leukopenia(20.0%),thrombocytopenia(23.3%),and anemia(10.0%).Conclusions:Fotemustine-based therapy in combination with rituximab chemotherapy followed by WBRT can improve outcomes,providing ORR benefits and favorable tolerability in patients newly diagnosed with PCNSL.Jingjing Wu Fenghua Gao Wenhua Wang Xudong Zhang Meng Dong Lei Zhang Xin Li Ling Li Zhenchang Sun Xinhua Wang Xiaorui Fu Linan Zhu Mengjie Ding Songtao Niu Zhaoming Li Yu Chang Feifei Nan Jiaqian Yan Hui Yu Xiaolong Wu Zhiyuan Zhou Jieming Zhang Mingzhi Zhang 2022Cancer Biology & Medicine2022,19,7:1
10Effects of topography and vegetation on distribution of rare earth elements in calcareous soils显示文摘This study investigated the impact of topography and vegetation on distribution of rare earth elements(REEs)in calcareous soils using methods of single extraction and mass balance calculation. The purposes of the study were to set a basis for further research on the biogeochemical REE cycle and to provide references for soil–water conservation and REE-containing fertilizer amendments. The results show a generally flat Post-Archean Average Australian Shale—normalized REE pattern for the studied calcareous soils. REE enrichment varied widely. The proportion of acidsoluble phases of heavy REEs was higher than that of light REEs. From top to bottom of the studied hills, dominant REE sources transitioned from limestone in-situ weathering to input from REE-containing phases(e.g., clay minerals,amorphous iron, REE-containing fluids). 11An injectable alginate/fibrin hydrogel encapsulated with cardiomyocytes and VEGF for myocardial infarction treatment显示文摘Myocardial infarction(MI)is one of the typical cardiovascular diseases,which persist as the leading cause of death globally.Due to the poor regenerative capability of endogenous cardiomyocytes(CMs),the transplantation of exogenous CMs becomes a promising option for MI treatment.However,the low retention and survival of transplanted cells still limit the clinical translation of cell therapy.Herein,an alginate/fibrin-based injectable hydrogel was prepared for the delivery of neonatal CMs and an angiogen-esis agent vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)locally to the infarcted area of the heart.This hydro-gel combined the specific advantages of alginate and fibrin with proper mechanical properties and cell affinity,showing good biocompatibility to support the retention and integration of the transplanted CMs to the host myocardium.Moreover,the delivered VEGF was favorable for the blood recovery to mitigate the ischemic microenvironment of the infarcted area and thus improved the survival of the transplanted CMs.Intramyocardial injection of this hydrogel to the infarcted area of the heart promoted angiogenesis,inhibited fibrosis,and improved cardiac function,exhibiting great potential for MI treatment.Chunxia Liu Yong Wu Hong Yang Kunyan Lu Haixin Zhang Yuanyuan Wang Jingjing Wang Linan Ruan Zhenya Shen Qian Yu Yanxia Zhang 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,12:0
