1Effective plant discrimination based on the combination of local binary pattern operators and multiclass support vector machine methods显示文摘Accurate crop and weed discrimination plays a critical role in addressing the challenges of weed management in agriculture.The use of herbicides is currently the most common approach to weed control.However,herbicide resistant plants have long been recognised as a major concern due to the excessive use of herbicides.Effective weed detection techniques can reduce the cost of weed management and improve crop quality and yield.A computationally efficient and robust plant classification algorithm is developed and applied to the classification of three crops:Brassica napus(canola),Zea mays(maize/corn),and radish.The developed algorithm is based on the combination of Local Binary Pattern(LBP)operators,for the extraction of crop leaf textural features and Support vector machine(SVM)method,for multiclass plant classification.This paper presents the first investigation of the accuracy of the combined LBP algorithms,trained using a large dataset of canola,radish and barley leaf images captured by a testing facility under simulated field conditions.The dataset has four subclasses,background,canola,corn,and radish,with 24,000 images used for training and 6000 images,for validation.The dataset is referred herein as 'bccr-segset'and published online.In each subclass,plant images are collected at four crop growth stages.Experimentally,the algorithm demonstrates plant classification accuracy as high as 91.85%,for the four classes.Vi Nguyen Thanh Le Beniamin Apopei Kamal Alameh 2019Information Processing in Agriculture2019,6,1:4

3Chromatin-associated SUMOylation controls the transcriptional switch between plant development and heat stress responses显示文摘The post-translational protein modification known as SUMOylation has conserved roles in the heat stress responses of various species.The functional connection between the global regulation of gene expression and chromatin-associatedSUMOylation in plant cells isunknown.Here,weuncovereda genome-wide relationship between chromatin-associated SUMOylation and transcriptional switches in Arabidopsis thaliana grown at room temperature,exposed to heat stress,and exposed to heat stress followed by recovery.The small ubiquitin-like modifier(SUMO)-associated chromatin sites,characterized by whole-genome ChIP-seq,were generally associated with active chromatin markers.In response to heat stress,chromatin-associated SUMO signals increased at promoter-transcriptional start site regions and decreased in gene bodies.RNAseq analysis supported the role of chromatin-associatedSUMOylation in transcriptional activation during rapid responses to high temperature.Changes inSUMOsignals on chromatinwere associated with the upregulation of heat-responsivegenesandthedownregulation ofgrowth-relatedgenes.Disruption of theSUMOligasegene SIZ1 abolished SUMOsignals on chromatin and attenuated rapid transcriptional responses to heat stress.The SUMO signal peaks were enriched in DNA elements recognized by distinct groups of transcription factors under different temperature conditions.These observations provide evidence that chromatin-associated SUMOylation regulates the transcriptional switch between development and heat stress response in plant cells.Danlu Han Chen Chen Simin Xia Jun Liu Jie Shu Vi Nguyen Jianbin Lai Yuhai Cui Chengwei Yang 2021Plant Communications2021,2,1:1

7Subtle Variations in Surface Properties of Black Silicon Surfaces Influence the Degree of Bactericidal Efficiency显示文摘One of the major challenges faced by the biomedical industry is the development of robust synthetic surfaces that can resist bacterial colonization. Much inspiration has been drawn recently from naturally occurring mechano-bactericidal surfaces such as the wings of cicada(Psaltoda claripennis) and dragonfly(Diplacodes bipunctata) species in fabricating their synthetic analogs. However,the bactericidal activity of nanostructured surfaces is observed in a particular range of parameters reflecting the geometry of nanostructures and surface wettability. Here,several of the nanometer-scale characteristics of black silicon(bSi) surfaces including the density and height of the nanopillars that have the potential to influence the bactericidal efficiency of these nanostructured surfaces have been investigated. 8Green synthesis of three-dimensional magnesium ferrite/titanium dioxide/reduced graphene from Garcinia mangostana extract for crystal violet photodegradation and antibacterial activity显示文摘In this study,three-dimensional porous magnesium ferrite/titanium dioxide/reduced graphene oxide(Mg Fe_2O_(4)-GM/TiO_(2)/rGO(MGTG))was successfully synthesized via green and hydrothermal-supported co-precipitation methods using the extract of Garcinia mangostana(G.mangostana)as a reducing agent.The characterization results indicate the successful formation of the nano/micro Mg Fe_(2)O_(4)(MFO)and TiO_(2) on the structure of the reduced graphene oxide(rGO),which can also act as efficient support,alleviating the agglomeration of the nano/micro MFO and TiO_(2).The synergic effects of the adsorption and photodegradation activity of the material were investigated according to the removal of crystal violet(CV)under ultraviolet light.The effects of catalyst dosage,CV concentration,and p H on the CV removal efficiency of the MGTG were also investigated.According to the results,the CV photodegradation of the MGTG-200 corresponded to the pseudo-first-order kinetic model.The reusability of the material after 10 cycles also showed a removal efficiency of 92%.This happened because the materials can easily be recollected using external magnets.In addition,according to the effects of different free radicals·O_(2)^(-),h^(+),and·OH on the photodegradation process,the photocatalysis mechanism of the MGTG was also thoroughly suggested.The antibacterial efficiency of the MGTG was also evaluated according to the inhibition of the Gram-positive bacteria strain Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus).Concurrently,the antibacterial mechanism of the fabricated material was also proposed.These results confirm that the prepared material can be potentially employed in a wide range of applications,including wastewater treatment and antibacterial activity.Tong Hoang Lin Che Quang Cong Nguyen Thanh Hoai Nam Hoang An Nguyen Duy Hai Ton That Buu Thoi Le Nhat Binh Hoang Le Minh Lam Thanh Ngan Hoang Thuy Kim Ngan Du Chi Vi Ta Dang Khoa Nguyen Huu Hieu 2023Journal of Semiconductors2023,44,12:0

10Identifying the impediments and enablers of ecohealth for a case study on health and environmental sanitation in Hà Nam, Vietnam显示文摘Background:To date,research has shown an increasing use of the term“ecohealth”in literature,but few researchers have explicitly described how it has been used.We investigated a project on health and environmental sanitation(the conceptual framework of which included the pillars of ecohealth)to identify the impediments and enablers of ecohealth and investigate how it can move from concept to practice.Methods:A case study approach was used.The interview questions were centred on the nature of interactions and the sharing of information between stakeholders.Results:The analysis identified nine impediments and 15 enablers of ecohealth.Three themes relating to impediments,in particular-integration is not clear,don’t understand,and limited participation-related more directly to the challenges in applying the ecohealth pillars of transdisciplinarity and participation.The themes relating to enablers-awareness and understanding,capacity development,and interactions-facilitated usage of the research results.By extracting information on the environmental,social,economic,and health aspects of environmental sanitation,we found that the issue spanned multiple scales and sectors.Conclusion:The challenge of how to integrate these aspects should be considered at the design stage and throughout the research process.We recommend that ecohealth research teams include a self-investigation of their processes in order to facilitate a comparison of moving from concept to practice,which may offer insights into how to evaluate the process.Vi Nguyen Hung Nguyen-Viet Phuc Pham-Duc Craig Stephen Scott A McEwen 2014Infectious Diseases of Poverty2014,3,1:0
