| 1 | Combination of epidural electrical stimulation with ex vivo triple gene therapy for spinal cord injury:a proof of principle study显示文摘Despite emerging contemporary biotechnological methods such as gene-and stem cell-based therapy,there are no clinically established therapeutic strategies for neural regeneration after spinal cord injury.Our previous studies have demonstrated that transplantation of genetically engineered human umbilical cord blood mononuclear cells producing three recombinant therapeutic molecules,including vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),glial cell-line derived neurotrophic factor(GDNF),and neural cell adhesion molecule(NCAM)can improve morpho-functional recovery of injured spinal cord in rats and mini-pigs.To investigate the efficacy of human umbilical cord blood mononuclear cells-mediated triple-gene therapy combined with epidural electrical stimulation in the treatment of spinal cord injury,in this study,rats with moderate spinal cord contusion injury were intrathecally infused with human umbilical cord blood mononuclear cells expressing recombinant genes VEGF165,GDNF,NCAM1 at 4 hours after spinal cord injury.Three days after injury,epidural stimulations were given simultaneously above the lesion site at C5(to stimulate the cervical network related to forelimb functions)and below the lesion site at L2(to activate the central pattern generators)every other day for 4 weeks.Rats subjected to the combined treatment showed a limited functional improvement of the knee joint,high preservation of muscle fiber area in tibialis anterior muscle and increased H/M ratio in gastrocnemius muscle 30 days after spinal cord injury.However,beneficial cellular outcomes such as reduced apoptosis and increased sparing of the gray and white matters,and enhanced expression of heat shock and synaptic proteins were found in rats with spinal cord injury subjected to the combined epidural electrical stimulation with gene therapy.This study presents the first proof of principle study of combination of the multisite epidural electrical stimulation with ex vivo triple gene therapy(VEGF,GDNF and NCAM)for treatment of spinal cord injury in rat models.The animal protocols were approved by the Kazan State Medical University Animal Care and Use Committee(approval No.2.20.02.18)on February 20,2018. | Filip Olegovich Fadeev Farid Vagizovich Bashirov Vahe Arshaluysovich Markosyan Andrey Alexandrovich Izmailov Tatyana Vyacheslavovna Povysheva Mikhail Evgenyevich Sokolov Maxim Sergeevich Kuznetsov Anton Alexandrovich Eremeev Ilnur Ildusovich Salafutdinov Albert Anatolyevich Rizvanov Hyun Joon Lee Rustem Robertovich Islamov | 2021 | Neural Regeneration Research2021,16,3: | 4 |
| 2 | Semi-supervised machine-learning classification of materials synthesis procedures显示文摘Digitizing large collections of scientific literature can enable new informatics approaches for scientific analysis and meta-analysis.However,most content in the scientific literature is locked-up in written natural language,which is difficult to parse into databases using explicitly hard-coded classification rules.In this work,we demonstrate a semi-supervised machine-learning method to classify inorganic materials synthesis procedures from written natural language.Without any human input,latent Dirichlet allocation can cluster keywords into topics corresponding to specific experimental materials synthesis steps,such as“grinding”and“heating”,“dissolving”and“centrifuging”,etc.Guided by a modest amount of annotation,a random forest classifier can then associate these steps with different categories of materials synthesis,such as solid-state or hydrothermal synthesis.Finally,we show that a Markov chain representation of the order of experimental steps accurately reconstructs a flowchart of possible synthesis procedures.Our machine-learning approach enables a scalable approach to unlock the large amount of inorganic materials synthesis information from the literature and to process it into a standardized,machine-readable database. | Haoyan Huo Ziqin Rong Olga Kononova Wenhao Sun Tiago Botari Tanjin He Vahe Tshitoyan Gerbrand Ceder | 2019 | npj Computational Materials2019,,1: | 2 |
| 3 | Effect of soil cohesion and friction angles on reverse faults显示文摘Severe faults have caused many earthquakes around the world throughout history.More recently,earthquakes have occurred in Taiwan,China(Chi-Chi fault),and elsewhere,causing loss of lives and destroying many buildings and structures.These tectonic movements have gained attention from engineers,and in the past 15 years,the focus has been on faulting mechanisms.In this study,a physical model(1 g)was fabricated and used to evaluate the impact of a reverse fault in a field with a tunnel.In the 1 g model,researchers installed additional gauges on the tunnel,so that all the displacements could be adjusted,and all the responses could be monitored during faulting.An experimental study of various soil properties(cohesion and friction angles)in reverse faults on the tunnel lining were carried out and are described herein.A comparison of results for different levels of soil cohesion revealed that it can dramatically reduce the displacement by as much as 40%,and that friction angles of 27ºcan record approximately 60%more displacements than at 37º.Furthermore,a comparison of fault angles of 30ºand 60ºindicates that the displacements can be different by more than 43%in cohesionless soil and about 64%for a friction angle of 27º. | Mehdi Ghafari Haslinda Nahazanan Zainuddin Md Yusoff Vahed Ghiasi | 2021 | Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2021,20,2: | 2 |
| 4 | Distributed active fault tolerant control design against actuator faults for multiple mobile robots显示文摘This paper investigates the active fault tolerant cooperative control problem for a team of wheeled mobile robots whose actuators are subjected to partial or severe faults during the team mission.The cooperative robots network only requires the interaction between local neighbors over the undirected graph and does not assume the existence of leaders in the network.We assume that the communication exists all the time during the mission.To avoid the system's deterioration in the event of a fault,a set of extended Kalman filters(EKFs)are employed to monitor the actuators'behavior for each robot.Then,based on the online information given by the EKFs,a reconfigurable sliding mode control is proposed to take an appropriate action to accommodate that fault.In this research study,two types of faults are considered.The first type is a partial actuator fault in which the faulty actuator responds to a partial of its control input,but still has the capability to continue the mission when the control law is reconfigured.In addition,the controllers of the remaining healthy robots are reconfigured simultaneously to move within the same capability of the faulty one.The second type is a severe actuator fault in which the faulty actuator is subjected to a large loss of its control input,and that lead the exclusion of that faulty robot from the team formation.Consequently,the remaining healthy robots update their reference trajectories and form a new formation shape to achieve the rest of the team mission. | Mahmoud HUSSEIN Jawhar GHOMMAM Azeddine GHODBANE Maarouf SAAD Vahe NERGUIZIAN | 2019 | Control Theory and Technology2019,17,4: | 2 |
| 5 | Intelligent non-linear modelling of an industrial winding process using recurrent local linear neuro-fuzzy networks显示文摘This study deals with the neuro-fuzzy (NF) modelling of a real industrial winding process in which the acquired NF model can be exploited to improve control performance and achieve a robust fault-tolerant system. A new simulator model is proposed for a winding process using non-linear identification based on a recurrent local linear neuro-fuzzy (RLLNF) network trained by local linear model tree (LOLIMOT), which is an incremental tree-based learning algorithm. The proposed NF models are compared with other known intelligent identifiers, namely multilayer perceptron (MLP) and radial basis function (RBF). Comparison of our proposed non-linear models and associated models obtained through the least square error (LSE) technique (the optimal modelling method for linear systems) confirms that the winding process is a non-linear system.
