| 1 | Correlations between various rock mass classification/characterization systems for the Zagros tunnel-W Iran显示文摘This study deals with the comparative investigation on various classification/characterization systems for sedimentary rocks in two parts,40 kmlong of the Zagros tunnel,west of Iran.The results of extensive geotechnical explorations and field measurements were applied to obtain the rock mass classification/characterization systems such as Rock Mass Rating(RMR),Rock Condition Rating(RCR),Q-system(Q),Rock Mass Number(QN),Rock Mass index(RMi),Rock Structure Rating(RSR),and Geological Strength Index(GSI)for a wide range of sedimentary rocks.A set of systems inter-relationship is proposed.Some of these correlation relations such as RMR-Q,RMR-RMi,RMi-Q,RCR,GSI-GSI(Cai)are similar to the one or more relations proposed in the previous studies,however,some of them such as RSR-RMR,RSR-Q,RCR-QN and GSI-RMR are not similar to the previous works.Joint set orientation and joint set number are more important parameters that cause weak correlation coefficients where both side classifications are not similar in considering them in calculating values.So it is proposed to find relations between any pairs of systems that both of them consider or not consider these parameters.The relations are proposed for a wide range of sedimentary rocks and can be applied for similar geological environments. | Shahriar SADEGHI Ebrahim SHARIFI TESHNIZI Benyamin GHOREISHI | 2020 | Journal of Mountain Science2020,17,7: | 2 |

| 4 | Promising antileishmanial effectiveness of doxorubicin and Doxil against Leishmania major:An in vitro assay显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the effect of doxorubicin and its pegylated liposomal formulation(Doxil, Caelyx) on in vitro susceptibility of promastigote and amastigote stages of Leishmania major. Methods: Throughout in vitro assays the IC50 was calculated in the promastigotes and amastigotes forms in J774 macrophage cell line. Also as cytotoxicity in J774 cell line macrophages. Results: Doxorubicin and Doxil showed the same activity against promastigote form with IC50 values of 10.49 μg/m L and 9.63 μg/m L, respectively. Similarly, the amastigote stage was susceptible at concentration of at least 1 μg/m L when compared to positive control(P<0.000 1). Also, cytotoxicity assay against macrophage revealed no toxicity on the host cells at IC50 concentrations. Conclusions: Our findings demonstrated the efficacy of both doxorubicin and its pegylated liposomal formulation on Leishmania major at low concentrations. | 5 | Prevalence of Strongyloides stercoralis and other intestinal parasitic infections among mentally retarded residents in central institution of southern Iran显示文摘Objective:To determine the prevalence of intestinal parasitic infections among mentally retarded residents of rehabilitation center of Bandar Abbas,Hormozgan province,southern Iran.Methods:A cross-sectional study was carried out in central rehabilitation institute of Hormozgan province in summer 2010.Fecal samples of all 133 residents(72 males,61 females)aged 3-52,were collected in triplicate.Specimens were examined by direct smear,formalin-ether concentration techniques and stained by permanent Trichrome,Ziehl-Neelsen stains.Statistical analysis was conducted by SPSS 13.5.Results:Intestinal parasitic infections were seen in 48.5%(64 out of 133 subjects:53.4%in males and 46.6%in females).Strongyloides stercoralis with17.3%showed the highest incidence followed by Entamoeba coli(9.8%),Blastocystis hominis(7.5%),Giardia lamblia(2.3%),Endolimax nana(2.3%),Hymenolepis nana(0.8%),Oxyuris vermicularis(0.8%),and Chilomasix mesnili(0.8%).Double infections were found to be as:Strongyloides stercoralis+Giardia lamblia(2.3%),Entamoeba coli+Giardia lamblia(1.5%),Entamoeba coli+Blastocystis hominis(1.5%),Oxyuris vermicularis+Entamoeba coli(0.8%),Strongyloides stercoralis+Entamoeba coli(0.8%),respectively.Conclusions:Our findings reveal that strongyloidiasis is a common disease among mentally retarded population in southern Iran. | Azar Shokri Khojasteh Sharifi Sarasiabi Saeed Hosseini Teshnizi Hamid Mahmoodi | 2012 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2012,2,2: | 0 |
| 6 | Birds and poultries toxoplasmosis in Iran: A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the overall prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii infection among birds and poultries in Iran. Methods: Data were systematically collected from 1983 to 2016 in Iran on the following electronic databases: Pub Med, Google Scholar, Science Direct, Scopus, Web of Science, Magiran, Irandoc, Iran Medex, and Scientific Information Database. Additionally, the abstracts of national scientific congresses and dissertations were included. Results: A total of 20 articles in the field of birds and poultries toxoplasmosis, totally examining 4 563 cases with 754 positive results reporting the overall prevalence of infection from all parts of Iran could fulfill our eligibility criteria. The overall estimated prevalence included in chicken 20%(95% CI: 3% to 38%) in chicken, pigeons 8%(95% CI:-17% to 33%) and in sparrows 15%(95% CI:-25% to 54%). Conclusion: Although there is a lack in data about poultries and birds toxoplasmosis in Iran, our meta-analysis revealed that infection rate is high among birds and poultries in Iran. | 7 | Advantages of employing multilevel monitoring wells for design of tunnels subjected to multi-aquifer alluvial显示文摘For tunnels being excavated through multiple knowledge of the aquifers’hydraulic head becomes essential for determining groundwater inflow into the tunnel and analyzing its stability,specifically using multilevel monitoring systems.In the multi-aquifer alluvial section of the Glas tunnel(Iran),since the hydraulic head calculations were based on the data obtained from single-piezometer boreholes,the excavation risk was assessed to be at high level and the tunnel seemed to be unstable,thus an incorrect conclusion was derived from the misleading data.To take cost mitigation measures into account,it was necessary to calculate the hydraulic head at tunnel level accurately.By installing nested and clustered wells the mean hydraulic head was measured to be 70 m,significantly different from the 90 m previously determined by boreholes.Considering the updated value,the groundwater inflow and bulkhead load,formerly calculated as 0.65 m^(3)/s and 9.5 bars,were determined to be 0.49 m^(3)/s and 7.5 bars,respectively. | Mohsen GOLIAN Ebrahim SHARIFI TESHNIZI Hamed TAVASOLI ROSTAMI Homayoon KATIBEH Mario PARISE Masoud MAHDAD Habib SAADAT Mehdi ABBASI Mahshid EBAD ARDESTANI | 2021 | Journal of Mountain Science2021,18,1: | 0 |
