| 1 | Cattle toxoplasmosis in Iran:a systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘Objective:To analyze and review the overall seroprevalence rate of Toxoplasma gondii(T.gondii) infection in cattle from Iran.Methods:In the current study,data collection(published and unpublished papers,abstracts of national scientific congresses and dissertations) using particular terms was carried out systematically on the following electronic databases like PubMed,Google Scholar,Ebsco,Science Direct,Scopus,Magiran,Irandoc,IranMedex and SID(Scientific Information Database).Results:A total of 22 studies since 1983 to 2012 reporting the seroprevalence of toxoplasmosis in cattle from different regions of Iran met our eligibility criteria.The pooled proportion of toxoplasmosis,using random effect model,among cattle in Iran from over the 30-year period was estimated 18.1%(95%CI:9.9%to 28.2%).Conclusions:This study firstly establishes a crude seroprevalence rate of Toxoplasma infection in cattle which can lead us to understand the condition of eattle toxoplasmosis,which have to take into accounted fur an appropriate and effective prevention and controls.Secondly,it compares and discusses elaborately the role of risk factors including sex,age and breed in the epidemiology of the disease.Thus,it determines gaps and drawbacks in the prior studies which are greatly useful to design more accurate investigations in the future. | Shahabeddin Sarvi Ahmad Daryani Mohammad Taghi Rahimi Mohsen Aarabi Azar Shokri Ehsan Ahmadpour Azadeh Mizani Mahdi Sharif | 2015 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2015,8,2: | 4 |

| 3 | Promising antileishmanial effectiveness of doxorubicin and Doxil against Leishmania major:An in vitro assay显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the effect of doxorubicin and its pegylated liposomal formulation(Doxil, Caelyx) on in vitro susceptibility of promastigote and amastigote stages of Leishmania major. Methods: Throughout in vitro assays the IC50 was calculated in the promastigotes and amastigotes forms in J774 macrophage cell line. Also as cytotoxicity in J774 cell line macrophages. Results: Doxorubicin and Doxil showed the same activity against promastigote form with IC50 values of 10.49 μg/m L and 9.63 μg/m L, respectively. Similarly, the amastigote stage was susceptible at concentration of at least 1 μg/m L when compared to positive control(P<0.000 1). Also, cytotoxicity assay against macrophage revealed no toxicity on the host cells at IC50 concentrations. Conclusions: Our findings demonstrated the efficacy of both doxorubicin and its pegylated liposomal formulation on Leishmania major at low concentrations. | 4 | Chest CT features in COVID-19 patients:A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘Objective:To derive the pooled estimate of chest computed tomography(CT)findings in coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)patients.Methods:A comprehensive systematic search was conducted according to the PRISMA checklist from January 2020 to September 2020 in electronic databases including PubMed,Google Scholar,and Scopus based on search terms in title and texts.Original descriptive studies with epidemiological parameters of interest were included into the systematic review and meta-analysis.Results:Totally 54 articles comprised of 4879 patients with a mean age of 49.05 years were eligible for this study.The pooled prevalence for abnormal CT images was 86.0%.Pooled prevalence for ground-glass opacity was 68.0%,71.0%for bilateral abnormalities,47.0%for mixed ground-glass opacity and consolidation and 29.0%for consolidation.In addition,64.0%of lesions were peripheral,and 12.0%were central while 28.0%were both central and peripheral.Furthermore,61.0%of lower lungs were involved,and 7.0%and 5.0%of the cases presented with pleural effusion and pericardial effusion,respectively.Besides,11%of the cases showed lymphadenopathy,and 37%had air broncho gram sign.The pooled prevalence of other chest CT findings ranged from 8.0%to 65.0%.Conclusions:Chest CT can be used as predictive tools for the detection of COVID-19 disease along with clinical manifestations and the RT-PCR method. | Mohammadreza Taghavi Azar Shokri Parastoo Niloofar Salar Poorbarat Samaneh Mollazadeh Hamed Milani | 2021 | Journal of Acute Disease2021,10,5: | 0 |
| 5 | Cutaneous anthrax associated with facial palsy:A case report显示文摘Rationale:Anthrax is a zoonotic disease caused by spores of Gram-positive Bacillus anthracis,commonly affects mammals and in rare cases birds.Human infection occurs accidentally through direct or indirect exposure to animal or their products.Patient concerns:A 63-year-old man was referred to our hospital with flu-like symptoms and severe swelling and redness on the face,the roof of the mouth,and nostrils.He had a history of direct contact with a slaughtered mutton two days ago.He declared controlled diabetes,hypertension,hypertriglyceridemia,and heart failure.Lungs were normal in lung high resolution CT,but multiple lymphadenopathies were seen in the mediastinum.Bilateral axillary lymphadenopathy with a maximum sad of 23 mm and pleural effusion on the right side was observed.CT scan of the nose and sinuses showed an increased density of polyps in the left maxillary sinus.Slides were prepared from the patient's lesions and examined under a light microscope.Bacillus shape with Streptococcus bacteria was seen.Diagnosis:Anthrax co-infection with herpes systemic virus and Streptococcus pyogenes.Interventions:Multidrug therapy started with appropriate antibiotics.Outcomes:The symptoms of the patient gradually disappeared.The patient was discharged without any complications.Lessons:Cutaneous anthrax in endemic areas in patients with skin presentations and a history of contact with infected animals or products should be considered a differential diagnosis.This is more important in mixed infections where the main cause of the problem may be hidden. | Majid Ghafouri Seyed Mehran Mojtabaei Azar Shokri | 2023 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2023,16,8: | 0 |
| 6 | Prevalence of Strongyloides stercoralis and other intestinal parasitic infections among mentally retarded residents in central institution of southern Iran显示文摘Objective:To determine the prevalence of intestinal parasitic infections among mentally retarded residents of rehabilitation center of Bandar Abbas,Hormozgan province,southern Iran.Methods:A cross-sectional study was carried out in central rehabilitation institute of Hormozgan province in summer 2010.Fecal samples of all 133 residents(72 males,61 females)aged 3-52,were collected in triplicate.Specimens were examined by direct smear,formalin-ether concentration techniques and stained by permanent Trichrome,Ziehl-Neelsen stains.Statistical analysis was conducted by SPSS 13.5.Results:Intestinal parasitic infections were seen in 48.5%(64 out of 133 subjects:53.4%in males and 46.6%in females).Strongyloides stercoralis with17.3%showed the highest incidence followed by Entamoeba coli(9.8%),Blastocystis hominis(7.5%),Giardia lamblia(2.3%),Endolimax nana(2.3%),Hymenolepis nana(0.8%),Oxyuris vermicularis(0.8%),and Chilomasix mesnili(0.8%).Double infections were found to be as:Strongyloides stercoralis+Giardia lamblia(2.3%),Entamoeba coli+Giardia lamblia(1.5%),Entamoeba coli+Blastocystis hominis(1.5%),Oxyuris vermicularis+Entamoeba coli(0.8%),Strongyloides stercoralis+Entamoeba coli(0.8%),respectively.Conclusions:Our findings reveal that strongyloidiasis is a common disease among mentally retarded population in southern Iran. | Azar Shokri Khojasteh Sharifi Sarasiabi Saeed Hosseini Teshnizi Hamid Mahmoodi | 2012 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2012,2,2: | 0 |
| 7 | Birds and poultries toxoplasmosis in Iran: A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the overall prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii infection among birds and poultries in Iran. Methods: Data were systematically collected from 1983 to 2016 in Iran on the following electronic databases: Pub Med, Google Scholar, Science Direct, Scopus, Web of Science, Magiran, Irandoc, Iran Medex, and Scientific Information Database. Additionally, the abstracts of national scientific congresses and dissertations were included. Results: A total of 20 articles in the field of birds and poultries toxoplasmosis, totally examining 4 563 cases with 754 positive results reporting the overall prevalence of infection from all parts of Iran could fulfill our eligibility criteria. The overall estimated prevalence included in chicken 20%(95% CI: 3% to 38%) in chicken, pigeons 8%(95% CI:-17% to 33%) and in sparrows 15%(95% CI:-25% to 54%). Conclusion: Although there is a lack in data about poultries and birds toxoplasmosis in Iran, our meta-analysis revealed that infection rate is high among birds and poultries in Iran.
