| 1 | Seasonal variations in planktonic foraminiferal flux and the chemical properties of their shells in the southern South China Sea显示文摘Results from sediment trap experiments conducted in the southern South China Sea from May 2004 to March 2006 revealed significant monsoon-induced seasonal variations in flux and shell geochemistry of planktonic foraminifera. The total and species-specific fluxes showed bimodal pattern, such as those of Globigerinoides ruber, Globigerinoides sacculifer, Neoglobo-quadrina dutertrei, Globigerinita glutinata, and Globigerina bulloides. Their high values occurred in the prevailing periods of the northeast and southwest monsoons, and the low ones appeared between the monsoons. Pulleniatina obliquiloculata had high flux rates mainly during northeast monsoon, with exceptional appearance in August 2004. These fluxes changed largely in accord with those of total particle matter and organic carbon, following chlorophyll concentration and wind force. It is inferred that the biogenic particle fluxes are controlled essentially by primary productivity under the influence of East Asian monsoon in the southern SCS. Shell stable oxygen isotope and Mg/Ca data correspond with seasonal variation of sea surface temperature. Shell δ18O values are affected primarily by sea water temperature, and the δ18O changes of different-depth dwelling species indicate upper sea water temperature gradient. Besides, the low carbon isotope values occurred in the periods of East Asian monsoon in general, whereas the high ones between the monsoons. | 2 | Is there a survival benefit from adjuvant chemotherapy for patients with liver oligometastases from colorectal cancer after curative resection?显示文摘Background:Although colorectal oligometastases to the liver can potentially be cured with aggressive local abla-tion,the efficacy of adjuvant chemotherapy(ACT)for such metastasis remains unclear.The present study explored the effects of ACT on patients with colorectal liver oligometastases(CLO)after curative resections and aimed to iden-tify patients who could benefit from ACT.Methods:We retrospectively analyzed 264 eligible patients with CLO who underwent curative resection between September 1999 and June 2015.Recurrence-free survival(RFS)and overall survival(OS)were analyzed using the Kaplan-Meier method and log-rank test;prognostic factors were a by Cox regression modeling.Results:Among 264 patients,200(75.8%)patients received ACT and 64(24.2%)did not receive ACT.These two groups did not significantly differ in clinicopathologic characteristics,and had comparable 3-year OS and RFS rates(RFS:42.1%vs.45.7%,P=0.588;OS:69.7%vs.62.7%,P=0.446)over a median follow-up duration of 35.5 months,irrespective of preoperative chemotherapy.ACT markedly improved 3-year OS in high-risk patients with Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center clinical risk scores(MSKCC-CRS)of 3-5(68.2%vs.33.8%,P=0.015),but presented no additional benefit in patients with MSKCC-CRS of 0-2(72.2%vs.78.6%,P=0.834).In multivariate analysis,ACT was independently associated with improved OS in patients with MSKCC-CRS of 3-5.Conclusions:ACT might offer a prognostic benefit in high-risk patients with CLOs after curative liver resection,but not in low-risk patients.Therefore,patients’risk status should be determined before ACT administration to optimize postoperative therapeutic strategies. | Zhizhong Pan Jianhong Peng Junzhong Lin Gong Chen Xiaojun Wu Zhenhai Lu Yuxiang Deng Yujie Zhao Qiaoqi Sui Desen Wan | 2018 | Cancer Communications2018，38，1： | 4 |
| 3 | Hydroxychavicol,a polyphenol from Piper betle leaf extract,induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in TP53-resistant HT-29 colon cancer cells显示文摘This study aims to elucidate the antiproliferative mechanism of hydroxychavicol(HC).Its effects on cell cycle,apoptosis,and the expression of c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK)and P38 mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)in HT-29 colon cancer cells were investigated.HC was isolated from Piper betle leaf(PBL)and verified by high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC),nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR),and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS).The cytotoxic effects of the standard drug 5-fluorouracil(5-FU),PBL water extract,and HC on HT-29 cells were measured after 24,48,and 72 h of treatment.Cell cycle and apoptosis modulation by 5-FU and HC treatments were investigated up to 30 h.Changes in phosphorylated JNK(pJNK)and P38(pP38)MAPK expression were observed up to 18 h.The half maximal inhibitory concentration(IC_(50))values of HC(30μg/mL)and PBL water extract(380μg/mL)were achieved at 24 h,whereas the IC_(50)of 5-FU(50μmol/L)was obtained at 72 h.Cell cycle arrest at the G0/G1 phase in HC-treated cells was observed from12 h onwards.Higher apoptotic cell death in HC-treated cells compared to 5-FU-treated cells(P<0.05)was observed.High expression of pJNK and pP38 MAPK was observed at 12 h in HC-treated cells,but not in 5-FU-treated HT-29 cells(P<0.05).It is concluded that HC induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis of HT-29 cells,with these actions possibly mediated by JNK and P38 MAPK. | Aiysvariyah RAJEDADRAM Kar Yong PIN Sui Kiong LING See Wan YAN Mee Lee LOOI | 2021 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2021，22，2： | 2 |

| 11 | Sea surface height measuring using InSAR altimeter显示文摘Satellite altimetry has been widely used in measuring ocean topography from space.The conventional altimeter system is the nadir radar altimeter system which has the limitations of one-dimensional measurement and is unable to get both high temporal and spatial resolution.The InSAR altimetry system using InSAR altimeter instead of nadir radar altimeter is an improvement which can get both high cross-track and along-track resolution and wide swath.However,the conventional SAR interferometry only can achieve meter level height accuracy.This paper focuses on a method of radar echo-tracking for InSAR altimeter system in order to correct the slant range measurements and finally to improve the height measurement accuracy to several centimeters' level.Radar slant range(from observed pixels to radar antenna) estimation error affects the height measurement accuracy badly,nevertheless not considered in the conventional SAR interferometry.The proposed method is ameliorated based on the traditional echo-model used in nadir radar altimeter system,focusing on the echo signals from observed pixels with different incident angles.Simulations of sea surface height measurements are performed in the last part of this paper,and the conclusions are drawn that,with corrected slant range,the accuracy of InSAR altimetry can be much better than the conventional SAR interferometry. | Xiaohong Sui Running Zhang Falin Wu Yang Li Xiaoyun Wan | 2017 | Geodesy and Geodynamics2017，8，4： | 1 |
