| 1 | Variations of geochemical compositions and the paleoclimatic significance of a loess-soil sequence from Garzê County of western Sichuan Province,China显示文摘The West Sichuan Plateau is located in the southeast margin of the Tibetan Plateau, where the climate is mainly influenced by the Indian southwest summer monsoon and the Tibetan Plateau monsoon. In this study, detailed geochemical analysis has been carried out on Ganzisi loess-paleosol sequence in Ganzê County of western Sichuan Province. The results indicate that Ganzê loess and paleosol have experienced the incipient stage of chemical weathering in dust source regions, characterized by the decomposition of plagioclase which caused the depletion of mobile elements Na and Ca. The post-depositional chemical weathering is characterized by carbonate dissolution and oxidation of Fe2+. The variations of some geochemical indexes (such as CIA values, Na/K and Fe2+/ Fe3+ ratios) in Ganzisi loess-paleosol sequence indicate a gradually decreased chemical weathering intensity in the dust source regions and deposition areas since 1.15 Ma BP consistent with the general increase of global ice volume, reflecting that the arid trend since 1.15 Ma BP in the southeast Tibetan Plateau is a regional response to the global climate change. The geochemical indexes in this section also reveal an obvious drying step occurred at about 250 ka BP in this region. We interpret this drying step as a result of decreased influence of the Indian southwest summer monsoon. | 2 | High-Resolution Genome-wide Association Study Identifies Genomic Regions and Candidate Genes for Important Agronomic Traits in Wheat显示文摘Wheat(Triticum aestivum)is a major staple food crop worldwide.Genetic dissection of important agronomic traits is essential for continuous improvement of wheat yield to meet the demand of the world's growing population.We conducted a large-scale genome-wide association study(GWAS)using a panel of 768 wheat cultivars that were genotyped with 327609 single-nucleotide polymorphisms generated by genotyping-by-sequencing and detected 395 quantitative trait loci(QTLs)for 12 traits under 7 environments.Among them,273 QTLs were delimited to≤1.0-Mb intervals and 7 of them are either known genes(Rht-D,Vrn-B1,and Vrn-D1)that have been cloned or known QTLs(TaGA2ox8,APO1,TaSus1-7B,and Rht12)that were previously mapped.Eight putative candidate genes were identified for three QTLs that enhance spike seed setting and grain size using gene expression data and were validated in three bi-parental populations.Protein sequence analysis identified 33 putative wheat orthologs that have high identity with rice genes in QTLs affecting similar traits.Large r^2 values for additive effects observed among the QTLs for most traits indicated that the phenotypes of these identified QTLs were highly predictable.Results from this study demonstrated that significantly increasing GWAS population size and marker density greatly improves detection and identification of candidate genes underlying a QTL,solidifying the foundation for large-scale QTL fine mapping,candidate gene validation,and developing functional markers for genomics-based breeding in wheat. | Yunlong Pang Chunxia Liu Danfeng Wang Paul St.Amand Amy Bernardo Wenhui Li Fang He Linzhi Li Liming Wang Xiufang Yuan Lei Dong Yu Su Huirui Zhang Meng Zhao Yunlong Liangi Hongze Jia Xitong Shen Yue Lu Hongming Jiang Yuye Wu Anfei Li Honggang Wang Lingrang Kong Guihua Bai Shubing Liu | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,9: | 8 |
| 3 | Magnetostratigraphic and paleoclimatic studies on the Red Earth Formation from the Chengdu Plain in Sichuan Province,China显示文摘Two red earth sections from the Chengdu Plain in Sichuan Province are dated using geomagnetic methods. The Brunhes/Matuyama (B/M) reversal boundary is recognized within the upper parts of the two sections,and the Jaramillo normal subzone occurs in the middle-lower parts of the vermiculated red soil (VRS),which indicate that the parent material for the VRS deposited in the middle Quaternary. Sedimentologic and geochemical studies suggest that the Chengdu Clay and part of the parent material for the VRS are of aeolian origin. Pollen analysis indicates that the Chengdu Plain was mainly covered by needle-leaved forest with a cool to cool temperate humid climate when the parent material for the VRS deposited. | 4 | Breeding and molecular cytogenetic identification of wheat-Thinopyrum intermedium addition lines resistant to powdery mildew显示文摘Wheat-related species Th. intermedium was used to cross with common wheat Yannong 15. In the self progenies of the hybrid, two addition lines, II -1-7-1 and II -3-3-2, stable in cytology, were developed by cytology and powdery mildew resistance identification. Their chromosome number were 2n = 44 and formed 22 bivalents at PMC MI. In F1 of the two addition lines crossing with Yannong 15, there appeared about one univalent at PMC MI, respectively. Resistance identification in greenhouse and field using the No. 15 and mixed strains of E. gramnis f. sp. tritici showed that they were immune to powdery mildew. Chromosome number and resistance identification using the F2 single plants of the addition line crossing with Yannong 15 indicated that the resistant gene was located on the alien chromosomes. | 5 | Characteristics of the phytoplankton community and bioaccumulation of heavy metals during algal blooms in Xiangjiang River (Hunan,China)显示文摘The frequency of algal blooms has increased in the mid and downstream reaches of the Xiangjiang River (Hunan,China),one of the most heavily polluted rivers in China.We identified the bloom-forming species in a bloom that occurred mid-late September 2010.In addition,we determined the extent of metal bioaccumulation in the algae and measured the toxicity of the algae using a mouse bioassay.Water samples were collected at upstream (Yongzhou),midstream (Hengyang),and downstream (Zhuzhou,Xiangtan,and Changsha) sites.The dominant species was Aulacoseira granulata,formerly known as Melosira granulata.The heaviest bloom occurred at Xiangtan and Changsha,where the number of A.granulata peaked at 1.3×10 5 filaments L 1 and chlorophyll a at 0.04 mg L 1.Concentrations of Al,Fe,and Mn were 4.4 10 3,768.4,and 138.7 mg kg 1 dry weight in the phytoplankton.The bioaccumulation factor was 4.0×10 5,7.7×10 5,and 3.2×10 3,respectively.The heavy metal Pb had the greatest tendency to bioaccumulate among the highly toxic heavy metals,with a concentration of 19.2 mg kg 1 dry weight and bioaccumulation factor of 9.6×10 3.The mouse bioassay suggested the bloom was toxic.The LD 50 was 384 mg kg 1 and all surviving mice lost weight during the first 72 h after exposure.Our results demonstrate that blooms of A.granulata in rivers contaminated with heavy metals pose a threat to freshwater ecosystems and human health.Thus,measures should be taken to control eutrophication and heavy metal pollution in such rivers. | LI Jie PENG FuLi DING DongBo ZHANG ShuBing LI DeLiang ZHANG Ting | 2011 | Science China(Life Sciences)2011,54,10: | 6 |
| 6 | Geochemical Characteristics of Eolian Deposits in the Chengdu Plain of Sichuan Province and the Implications for Provenance显示文摘In this study Chengdu Red Earth(CRE)from the Chengdu Plain(CP),Sichuan province,was analyzed for its elemental(major and trace elements)and isotopic(Sm-Nd)geochemistry and compared with Pleistocene loess and paleosol samples from the Chinese Loess Plateau(CLP)in Northern China.The geochemical composition of CRE is similar to north China loess,and also resembles the average UCC.This indicates that CRE,as loess deposits in Northern China,was derived from well-mixed sedimentary protoliths that have undergone numerous upper crustal recycling processes.However,obvious differences in the geochemical characteristics of CRE and the north China loess are also revealed in our results.For chemically stable elements,CRE has higher Ti,Zr,Hf and lowerΣREE,Ba contents in comparison with loess samples from the CLP.Further analysis shows that CRE has higher TiO2/Al2O3,SiO2/Al2O3,Ba/Rb and lower Ce/Yb,Eu/Yb,LaN/YbN andΣLREE/ΣHREE ratios.In Sm-Nd isotopic geochemistry,Sm and Nd content and theεNd(0)value in CRE are significantly higher than those in north China loess.The higher TiO2content in CRE coincided with a high background concentration of Ti in the Sichuan Basin and the surrounding regions.The lowerΣREE and higher Sm,Nd,εNd(0)values are related to the wide distribution of basalt in the southwest Sichuan Basin.The elemental and isotopic geochemistry of CRE indicates that eolian materials in the CP predominantly come from the Sichuan Basin and the surrounding regions,which differs from loess deposits in the CLP. | TAN Yuanlong QIAO Yansong ZHAO Zhizhong WANG Yan QI Lin FU Jianli LIU Zongxiu YAO Haitao WANG Shubing JIANG Fuchu | 2013 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2013,87,6: | 3 |
| 7 | Late Cenozoic Sedimentary Evolution of Pagri-Duoqing Co graben, Southern End of Yadong-Gulu Rift, Southern Tibet显示文摘The north trending rifts in southern Tibet represent the E-W extension of the plateau and confirming the initial rifting age is key to the study of mechanics of these rifts. Pagri-Duoqing Co graben is located at southern end of Yadong-Gulu rift, where the late Cenozoic sediments is predominately composed of fluvio-lacustrine and moraine. Based on the sedimentary composition and structures, the fluviolacustrine could be divided into three facies, namely, lacustrine, lacustrine fan delta and alluvial fan. The presence of paleo-currents and conglomerate components and the provenance of the strata around the graben indicate that it was Tethys Himalaya and High Himalaya. Electron spin resonance(ESR) dating and paleo-magnetic dating suggest that the age of the strata ranges from ca. 1.2 Ma to ca. 8 Ma. Optically stimulated luminescence(OSL) dating showed that moraine in the graben mainly developed from around181-109 ka(late Middle Pleistocene). Combining previous data about the Late Cenozoic strata in other basins, it is suggested that 8-15 Ma may be the initial rifting time. Together with sediment distribution and drainage system, the sedimentary evolution of Pagri could be divided into four stages. The graben rifted at around 15-8 Ma due to the eastern graben-boundary fault resulting in the appearance of a paleolake.Following by a geologically quiet period about 8-2.5 Ma, the paleolake expanded from east to west at around 8-6 Ma reaching its maximum at ca. 6 Ma. Then, the graben was broken at about 2.5 Ma. At last,the development of the glacier separated the graben into two parts that were Pagri and Duoqing Co since the later stages of the Middle Pleistocene.
