The attractor bifurcation theory presented in this article generalizes the existing steady state bifurcations and the Hopf bifurcations. The proposed model calculates the global matrix of oriented gradient of histograms on wavelet subbands based on the multi-scale property, shift invariance and directional selectivity of Complex wavelet transform(CWT), then acquires edge information by thresholding the matrix. It improves the traditional Chan-vese(CV) model by adding the constraint of extracted edge information. A new water/land segmentation algorithm is then proposed based on the new model. | 5 | A Complete Embryonic Developmental Table of Microhyla fissipes(Amphibia,Anura,Microhylidae)显示文摘Access to embryonic developmental stages is essential basic work for understanding how organisms develop. In this study, seven egg clutches(range 209–564 eggs) of ornamented pygmy frog Microhyla fissipes(Amphibia, Anura, Microhylidae) were obtained from seven breeding pairs in laboratory. One egg clutch of them was observed for the embryonic development, and the staging table of normal development was constructed based on morphological and physiological characteristics. Forty-five developmental stages were defined for M. fissipes, and two major developmental periods were designated: 1) early embryonic development period(stages 1–28), from fertilization to operculum completion stage, lasted for 82.6 hours at water temperature(WT) 23–25℃; 2) larval development period(stages 29–45), from operculum completion to tail complete absorption stage, took 38 days at WT 22–26.5℃, showing that the embryos of this species develop rapidly. In addition, the tadpoles were transparent, which is similar to those in field. | 8 | Approximate entropy and support vector machines for electroencephalogram signal classification显示文摘The automatic detection and identification of electroencephalogram waves play an important role in the prediction, diagnosis and treatment of epileptic seizures. In this study, a nonlinear dynamics index-approximate entropy and a support vector machine that has strong generalization ability were applied to classify electroencephalogram signals at epileptic interictal and ictal periods. Our aim was to verify whether approximate entropy waves can be effectively applied to the automatic real-time detection of epilepsy in the electroencephalogram, and to explore its generalization ability as a classifier trained using a nonlinear dynamics index. Four patients presenting with partial epileptic seizures were included in this study. They were all diagnosed with neocortex localized epilepsy and epileptic foci were clearly observed by electroencephalogram. The electroencephalogram data form the four involved patients were segmented and the characteristic values of each segment, that is, the approximate entropy, were extracted. The support vector machine classifier was constructed with the approximate entropy extracted from one epileptic case, and then electroencephalogram waves of the other three cases were classified, reaching a 93.33% accuracy rate. Our findings suggest that the use of approximate entropy allows the automatic real-time detection of electroencephalogram data in epileptic cases. | 10 | Edge-preserving image decomposition via joint weighted least squares显示文摘Recent years have witnessed the emergence of image decomposition techniques which effectively separate an image into a piecewise smooth base layer and several residual detail layers. However, the intricacy of detail patterns in some cases may result in side-effects including remnant textures, wronglysmoothed edges, and distorted appearance. We introduce a new way to construct an edge-preserving image decomposition with properties of detail smoothing, edge retention, and shape fitting. Our method has three main steps: suppressing highcontrast details via a windowed variation similarity measure, detecting salient edges to produce an edgeguided image, and fitting the original shape using a weighted least squares framework. Experimental results indicate that the proposed approach can appropriately smooth non-edge regions even when textures and structures are similar in scale.
