1Controllable Macroscopic Architecture of Subtractive Manufactured Porous Iron for Cancellous Bone Analogue:Computational to Experimental Validation显示文摘Higher strength and lower degradation rate of Fe compared to magnesium and zinc have made it the most reliable for orthopaedic reconstruction.Hence,this paper studies the morphological and mechanical characteristics of porous Fe fabricated using subtractive manufacturing for load bearing bone replacement.Three types of porous Fe(19%,39%and 59%)were prepared and then modelled into a 3D model for finite element analysis.The mechanical properties evaluated through finite element analysis were then validated by the experimental results.Computational fluid dynamics was done in this study to evaluate the permeability and wall shear stress of the porous Fe.Correlations between morphological indices,mechanical properties,shear stress and permeability were then obtained.The mechanical behaviour of porous Fe investigated through finite element analysis was in good agreement with the experimental work.The mechanical properties of porous Fe specimen particularly sample C(modulus:5.63 GPa and yield strength:145.7 MPa)was tailored to the cancellous bone(modulus:0.5 GPa-18 GPa and yield strength:101 MPa-169.6 MPa).As the porosity increased,the performance of porous Fe regarding mechanical properties and morphological properties were enhanced.Muhammad Azfar Noordin Rabiatul Adibah Abdul Rahim Ahmad Nabeel Hakimi Roslan Iza Azura Ali Ardiyansyah Syahrom Amir Putra Md Saad 2020Journal of Bionic Engineering2020,17,2:0
2Effects of Lateral Variation in Vegetation and Basin ‘Dome' Shape on Tropical Lowland Peat Stabilisation in the Kota Samarahan-Asajaya Area, West Sarawak, Malaysia显示文摘Field surveys indicate lateral variation in peat humification levels(von Post) in dominantly occurring fibric, fibric to hemic, sapric and hemic to sapric peats across a gradient from the margin towards the centre of tropical lowland peat domes. Cement-peat stabilisation can be enhanced by adding mineral soil fillers(silt, clays and fine sands) obtained from Quaternary floodplain deposits and residual soil(weathered schist). The unconfined compressive strength(UCS) of the stabilised cement-mineral soil filler-peat mix increases with the increased addition of selected mineral soil filler. Lateral variation in the stabilised peat strength(UCS) in the top 0 to 0.5 m layer was found from the margin towards the centre of the tropical lowland peat dome. 4Tin stearate organometallic precursor prepared SnO_2 quantum dots nanopowder for aqueous- and non-aqueous medium photocatalytic hydrogen gas evolution显示文摘Current study reports a rapid one-pot non-hydrolytic condition in the synthesis of Sn O_2 QDs nanopowder using tin(II) stearate(Sn(St)_2) as environmentally-benign organometallic precursor,which is an unprecedentedly employed-compound in preceding Sn O_2 nanopowder productions.The as-synthesized Sn O_2 QDs that are hydrophobic can be easily transferred from organic solvent to aqueous solution through a robust ligand exchange method.The stearate-capping ligands on the surface of QDs can be replaced by beta-cyclodextrin(β-CD) and eventually render the QDs highly water soluble,which ultimately make it exhibit bi-functionality for different liquid medium applications.Structural characterizations reveal that the bi-functional QDs are indeed well-matched with the standard rutile Sn O_2 cassiterite phase without the presence of any impurities.The QDs can be interchangeably used as photocatalyst for both aqueous and non-aqueous phase,where it shows significant enhancement of hydrogen gas production as compared to that of commercial Sn O_2 nanopowder.Choonyian Haw Weesiong Chiu Noor Hamizah Khanis Saadah Abdul Rahman Poisim Khiew Shahidan Radiman Roslan Abd-Shukor Muhammad Azmi Abdul Hamid 2016Journal of Energy Chemistry2016,25,4:0
