1Household air pollution and lung cancer in China:a review of studies in Xuanwei显示文摘Over half of the world's population is exposed to household air pollution from the burning of solid fuels at home. Household air pollution from solid fuel use is a leading risk factor for global disease and remains a major public health problem, especially in low- and mid-income countries. This is a particularly serious problem in China, where many people in rural areas still use coal for household heating and cooking. This review focuses on several decades of research carried out in Xuanwei County, Yunnan Province, where household coal use is a major source of household air pollution and where studies have linked household air pollution exposure to high rates of lung cancer. We conducted a series of case-control and cohort studies in Xuanwei to characterize the lung cancer risk in this population and the factors associated with it. We found lung cancer risk to vary substantially between different coal types, with a higher risk associated with smoky(i.e., bituminous) coal use compared to smokeless(i.e., anthracite) coal use. The installation of a chimney in homes resulted in a substantial reduction in lung cancer incidence and mortality. 2Prognostic biomarkers for prediction of recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma:Current status and future prospects显示文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is one of the leading causes of cancer death worldwide,with region specific etiologies.Despite improvements made in the diagnosis of HCC,the prognosis of HCC patients remains poor due to the high recurrence rate of HCC.There is an urgent need for development of prognostic biomarkers to predict the risk of recurrence in HCC patients after'curative'treatment.Such stratification may aid in patient management and development of personalized medicine for HCC treatment.Omics based studies facilitate the study of global changes in biomolecules in a disease in a high throughput manner,and hence are well poised to understand the complex changes which led to HCC recurrence.The quantitative nature of data obtained from omics based studies allow for development of prognostic biomarkers based on changes in gene,protein and metabolite expression.In this review,we surveyed the ap-plication of transcriptomics,proteomics and metabolomics in the study of HCC recurrence.We summarised the data in the literature from these three fields of studies that claimed to be prognostic for HCC recurrence.We critiqued on the limitations of each area of research and the challenges faced in translating the research results for clinical application in predicting HCC recurrence.Seow Chong Lee Hwee Tong Tan Maxey Ching Ming Chung 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,12:11
3A Flexible and Lightweight Biomass-Reinforced Microwave Absorber显示文摘Developing a flexible,light-weight and effective electromagnetic(EM)absorber remains challenging despite being on increasing demand as more wearable devices and portable electronics are commercialized.Herein,we report a flexible and lightweight hybrid paper by a facile vacuumfiltration-induced self-assembly process,in which cotton-derived carbon fibers serve as flexible skeletons,compactly surrounded by other microwave-attenuating components(reduced graphene oxide and Fe3O4@C nanowires).Owing to its unique architecture and synergy of the three components,the asprepared hybrid paper exhibits flexible and lightweight features as well as superb microwave absorption performance.Maximum absorption intensity with reflection loss as low as-63 dB can be achieved,and its broadest frequency absorption bandwidth of 5.8 GHz almost covers the entire Ku band.Such a hybrid paper is promising to cope with ever-increasing EM interference.The work also paves the way to develop low-cost and flexible EM wave absorber from biomass through a facile method.Yan Cheng Justin Zhu Yeow Seow Huanqin Zhao Zhichuan JXu Guangbin Ji 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,10:7
4二期假体再置换治疗人工膝关节置换后深部感染显示文摘目的 报告二期假体再置换治疗人工膝关节置换术后深部感染的临床效果。方法 对 17例 (17膝 )人工膝关节置换后晚期深部感染患者行二期再置换 :一期清创后 ,以关节型妥布霉素骨水泥垫圈和串珠植入关节腔 ,间隔期抗生素治疗 4~ 6周 ,停药 2周后连续 2次穿刺培养阴性后 ,二期置入假体 ,以妥布霉素骨水泥固定。采用膝关节KSS评分标准评估临床治疗效果。结果 17例均获随访 ,平均随访时间 6 7.8个月 (2 3~ 115个月 ) ,15例 (88.2 % )无感染复发及其他并发症发生 ,其中 3例行二次清创。 2例感染复发 ,分别作膝关节融合和截肢。平均膝评分由 30分 (0~ 46分 )增加至 84分 (6 7~ 90分 ) ,最后一次随访膝关节功能评分平均为 82分 (6 5~ 87)分。膝关节活动度平均为 79°(5 3~ 97°)。结论 二期假体再置换是治疗人工全膝关节置换晚期深部感染的一种有效方法。二期手术前穿刺培养及二次清创、关节型抗生素骨水泥和串珠的联合应用 ,有助于减少感染复发 。张先龙 N NLo K H Seow 2001上海医学2001,24,9:5
5Ankle arthrodesis:A systematic approach and review of the literature显示文摘Ankle arthrodesis is a common treatment used for patients with end-stage ankle arthritis(ESAA). The surgical goal of ankle arthrodesis is to obtain bony union between the tibia and talus with adequate alignment [slight valgus(0°-5°)], neutral dorsiflexion, and slight external rotation positions) in order to provide a pain-free plantigrade foot for weightbearing activities. There are many variations in operative technique including deferring approaches(open or arthroscopic) and differing fixation methods(internal or external fixation). Each technique has its advantage and disadvantages. Success of ankle arthrodesis can be dependent on several factors, including patient selection, surgeons' skills, patient comorbidities, operative care, etc. However, from our experience, the majority of ESAA patients obtain successful clinical outcomes. This review aims to outline the indications and goals of arthrodesis for treatment of ESAA and discuss both open and arthroscopic ankle arthrodesis. A systematic step by step operative technique guide is presented for both the arthroscopic and open approaches including a postoperative protocol. We review the current evidence supporting each approach. 6小切口单髁置换和全膝关节置换配对比较临床早期结果显示文摘目的 通过配对比较 ,观察小切口单髁置换和全膝关节置换治疗单室膝关节骨性关节炎的早期临床结果。方法 2 0 0 1年 6~ 12月 ,新加坡中央医院采用小切口单髁置换连续治疗 5 0例内侧单室膝关节骨关节炎患者 ,同时对在年龄、临床症状、膝关节的X线分级上进行配对比较的 5 0例内侧单室膝关节骨关节炎患者进行全膝关节置换。小切口单髁置换组 ,男 9例 ,女 4 1例 ;年龄 5 2~ 85岁 ,平均 6 4岁。全膝关节置换组 ,男 8例 ,女 4 2例 ;年龄 5 5~ 80岁 ,平均 6 7岁。临床均表现为膝关节内侧间隙疼痛 ,AhlbackX线分级Ⅰ~Ⅲ级。结果 小切口单髁置换组与全膝关节置换组比较 ,具有出血量少、膝关节功能恢复快、住院时间短、并发症少、创伤小、康复快、费用少等优点。结论 对于单室膝关节骨关节炎 ,小切口单髁置换与全膝关节置换术比较 。王铭春 Lo Ngai Nung Yeo Seng Jin Seow Kang Hong Yang Kuang Ying 2002上海医学2002,25,11:5
7环境教学中挑战型体验式无缝学习的设计研究显示文摘移动信息技术的个性化、便捷性、跨时空性和泛在性等特点,可以为学习者创造出因时因地、因需而发生的数字化学习,为信息时代的学习者创造一个全新的学习模式。新加坡一所小学使用移动、无缝和在线技术为环境教育课程设计无缝学习环境和活动,以此来帮助学生了解关于环境保护的相关问题,尤其是减少浪费(Reduce)、重复使用(Reuse)、再回收(Recycle)(3Rs)等方面的知识,并且指导学生将学到的知识应用到实践之中。学习者通过课外使用手持设备、学校内使用台式电脑及随时通过无线及有线网络沟通,实现无缝了课内学习与课外学习的链接。研究结果显示,学生对于3Rs的理解有了显著的提升,通过实践应用将环境保护的意识内化并付诸行动。该文对该项目设计研究过程和效果进行了介绍,以期为促进我国移动学习的实践应用提供借鉴。张宝辉 Peter Seow 张金磊 2013中国电化教育2013,,10:4

9人工全膝关节置换术后单纯金属底座髌骨假体的翻修显示文摘目的分析带金属底座髌骨假体失败的原因,并观察单纯髌骨假体翻修的临床疗效。方法对 22例 (30膝 )人工全膝关节置换术后因金属底座髌骨假体失败而行单纯髌骨假体翻修者进行回顾性分析。假体均为同一类型的后十字韧带保留型假体,以金属底座髌骨假体置换髌骨。应用膝关节 KSS评分标准评价翻修术后的临床转归。结果髌骨假体失败时间在人工全膝关节置换术后的 26~ 96个月,平均 62.3个月,主要症状有金属摩擦感 (80% )和膝关节疼痛 (70% )。术中发现 23膝 (76.7% )聚乙烯完全磨损、金属底座外露; 9膝髌骨倾斜或半脱位; 2膝完全脱位。 30膝均成功施行骨水泥全聚乙烯髌骨翻修术,随访时间 24~ 81个月,平均 42.5个月。所有患者主诉症状消失,可独立行走活动,膝关节评分从术前的平均 73分( 27~ 88分)增加至 87分( 60~ 100分);膝关节屈曲度由术前的平均 91°增加至 99.5°。结论 (1)金属底座髌骨假体早期失败率较高; (2)髌骨位线不良和异常滑动轨迹是导致带金属底座髌骨假体失败的诱发因素; (3)单纯髌骨假体翻修可获满意的临床结果,其发生并发症的潜在危险和人工全膝关节翻修术相似,应予以重视。张先龙 SJ Yue NN Lo KH Seow SK Tan 2001中华骨科杂志2001,21,1:2
