1Genome survey uncovers the secrets of sex and lifestyle in caterpillar fungus显示文摘The caterpillar fungus Ophiocordyceps sinensis (best known as Cordyceps sinensis) mummifies ghost moth larvae exclusively in Tibetan Plateau alpine ecosystems. Touted as 'Himalayan Viagra', the fungus is highly prized due to its medical benefits and dwindling supplies. Attempts to culture the sexual fruiting-body have failed and the huge market demand has led to severe devastation of local ecosystems and to the fungus heading towards extinction. By genome sequencing, we establish that unlike related insect pathogens O. sinensis contains two compatible mating-type genes in its genome and is self-fertile, i.e. homothallic. However, sexual processes are only initiated under native environmental conditions. O. sinensis resembles biotrophic plant pathogens in having a genome shaped by retrotransposon-driven expansions. The resulting changes in gene content suggest that O. sinensis has a biphasic pathogenic mechanism beginning with stealth pathogenesis in early host instars. O. sinensis is the first psychrophilic fungus sequenced and is adapted to extreme cold with putative antifreeze proteins and mechanisms for increasing lipid accumulation and fatty acid unsaturation. 2The historical and current research progress on jujube–a superfruit for the future显示文摘Jujube(Ziziphus jujuba Mill.),or Chinese date,is the most important species of Rhamnaceae,a large cosmopolitan family,and is one of the oldest cultivated fruit trees in the world.It originates from the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River,the‘mother river’of the Chinese people.It is distributed in at least 48 countries on all continents except Antarctica and is becoming increasingly important,especially in arid and semiarid marginal lands.Based on a systematic analysis of the unique characteristics of jujube,we suggest that it deserves to be recognized as a superfruit.We summarized historical research achievements from the past 3000 years and reviewed recent research advances since 1949 in seven fields,including genome sequencing and application,germplasm resources and systematic taxonomy,breeding and genetics,cultivation theory and techniques,pest control,postharvest physiology and techniques,and nutrition and processing.Based on the challenges facing the jujube industry,we discuss eight research aspects to be focused on in the future.Mengjun Liu Jiurui Wang Lili Wang Ping Liu Jin Zhao Zhihui Zhao Shengrui Yao Florin Stănică Zhiguo Liu Lixin Wang Changwei Ao Li Dai Xiansong Li Xuan Zhao Chunxiang Jia 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:10

4Recent advances in non-metal doped titania for solar-driven photocatalytic/photoelectrochemical water-splitting显示文摘Photocatalytic (PC) / Photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting under solar light irradiation is considered as a prospective technique to support the sustainable and renewable H_(2) economy and to reach the ultime goal of carbon neutral. TiO_(2) based photocatalysts with high chemical stability and excellent photocatalytic properties have great potential for solar-to-H_(2) conversion. To conquer the challenges of the large band-gap and rapid recombination of photo generated electron-holepairs in TiO_(2), non-metal doping turns out to be economic, facile, and effective on boosting the visible light activity. The localized defect states such as oxygen vacancy and Ti^(3+) generated by non-metal doping are located in the band-gap of TiO_(2), which result in the reduction of band-gap, thus a red-shift of the absorption edge. The hetero doping atoms such as B^(3+), I^(7+), S^(4+)/S^(6+), P^(5+) can also act as electron donors or trap sites which facilitate the charge carrier separation and suppress the recombination of electron-hole pairs. In this comprehensive review, we present the most recent advances on non-metal doped TiO_(2) photocatalysts in terms of fundamental aspects, origin of visible light activity and the PC / PEC behaviours for water splitting. In particular, the characteristics of different non-metal elements (N, C, B, S, P, Halogens) as dopants are discussed in details focusing on the synthesis approaches, characterization as well as the efficiency of PC and PEC water splitting. 7Proteomic and metabolomic profiling underlines the stage- and time-dependent effects of high temperature on grape berry metabolism显示文摘Climate change scenarios predict an increase in mean air temperatures and in the frequency,intensity,and length of extreme temperature events in many wine-growing regions worldwide.Because elevated temperature has detrimental effects on berry growth and composition,it threatens the economic and environmental sustainability of wine production.Using Cabernet Sauvignon fruit-bearing cuttings,we investigated the effects of high temperature(HT)on grapevine berries through a label-free shotgun proteomic analysis coupled to a complementary metabolomic study.Among the 2,279 proteins identified,592 differentially abundant proteins were found in berries exposed to HT.The gene ontology categories“stress,”“protein,”“secondary metabolism,”and“cell wall”were predominantly altered under HT.High temperatures strongly impaired carbohydrate and energy metabolism,and the effects depended on the stage of development and duration of treatment.Transcript amounts correlated poorly with protein expression levels in HT berries,highlighting the value of proteomic studies in the context of heat stress.Furthermore,this work reveals that HT alters key proteins driving berry development and ripening.Finally,we provide a list of differentially abundant proteins that can be considered as potential markers for developing or selecting grape varieties that are better adapted to warmer climates or extreme heat waves.David Lecourieux Christian Kappel Stéphane Claverol Philippe Pieri Regina Feil John E.Lunn Marc Bonneu Lijun Wang Eric Gomès Serge Delrot Fatma Lecourieux 2020Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,8:2
