| 1 | Composition, source, mass closure of PM_(2.5) aerosols for four forests in eastern China显示文摘PM2.5 aerosols were collected in forests along north latitude in boreal-temperate, temperate, subtropical and tropical climatic zones in eastern China, i.e., Changbai Mountain Nature Reserve (CB), Dongping National Forest Park in Chongming Island (CM), Dinghu Mountain Nature Reserve (DH), Jianfengling Nature Reserve in Hainan Island (HN). The mass concentrations of PM2.5, organic carbon (OC), elemental carbon (EC), water soluble organic carbon (WSOC) as well as concentrations of ten inorganic ions (F-, Cl-, NO3-, SO42-, C2O42-, NH4+, Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+) were determined. Aerosol chemical mass closures were achieved. The 24-hr average concentrations of PM2.5 were 38.8, 89.2, 30.4, 18 μg/m3 at CB, CM, DH and HN, respectively. Organic matter and EC accounted for 21%-33% and 1.3%-2.3% of PM2.5 mass, respectively. The sum of three dominant secondary ions (SO42-, NO3-, NH4+) accounted for 44%, 50%, 45% and 16% of local PM2.5 mass at CB, CM, DH and HN, respectively. WSOC comprised 35%-65% of OC. | 3 | Model of water-sediment regulation in Yellow River and its effect显示文摘Water-sediment regulation of the Yellow River is to regulate and control the flow and sediment transport relationship of the lower reaches through reservoirs on the main streams and tributaries to create balance between water and sediment so that sediment transport capacity of the downstream channels can be maximized,shrinking of channels be contained,and medium flood channel be restored and maintained.Many years' research by the Yellow River Conservancy Commission(YRCC) reveals the water and sediment transport relationship that will prevent sedimentation at the downstream river channels.Based on this relationship and coming sediment and water conditions in the Yellow River basin,the YRCC,with maximized use of reservoirs on the main streams and tributaries,has developed three models of water-sediment regulation:single Xiaolangdi Reservoir-dominated regulation,space scale water-sediment match,and mainstream reservoirs joint operation.Ten water-sediment regulations based on these three models have resulted in an average drop of 1.5 m in the main channel of the downstream 800 km river and an increase of carrying capacity from 1800 to 4000 m3/s.Besides,the wetland ecosystems of estuarine delta has also been improved and restored significantly. | LI GuoYing SHENG LianXi | 2011 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2011,54,4: | 18 |

| 5 | Diurnal variations of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons associated with PM_(2.5) in Shanghai, China显示文摘Forty-eight daily time interval PM2.5 samples were collected from December 2006 to January 2008 in an urban site in Shanghai, China. Concentrations and compositions of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were analyzed with GC-MS to study the diurnal and seasonal variations and to identify the main emitting sources. The diurnal variation of the PAHs concentrations was greater in the late autumn and winter sampling days, and was greatly influenced by meteorological conditions such as wind speed and ambient temperature. The concentration of PAHs in the mornings (6:30-10:00) increased distinctly, and was high in the late autumn and winter sampling days, indicating the contribution from vehicle emissions during rush hours. The diurnal variation of the high molecular weight PAHs did not seem to be controlled by the shift of gas-particle partitioning due to temperature variation, instead, it could be indicative of the variation in the source. Statistical analyses showed that the concentrations of PAHs were negatively correlated with temperature and wind speed, and positively correlated with relative humidity. | 6 | Molecular organic geochemical peculiarities of lacustrine core sediments in Fildes Peninsula, King George Island, Antarctica显示文摘The peculiarities of lipids in lacustrine core sediments from Fildes Peninsula, King George Island, Antarctica, are reported. The origin of high-molecular-weight n-alkanes, alkenes, fatty acids, alcohols is supposed to be related to the abundant moss occurring in the sediments. Abundant iso- and ante/so-fatty acids that occur in the sediments indicate a relatively strong bacterial activity in non-ice-cover zone than in other regions in Antarctica. The C18:2 unsaturated fatty acids mainly originate from autochthonous algae in the sediment pool, and the C18:2/C18:0 ratios in the profile are controlled more by paleotemperatures than source assemblies. Long-chain alkenones were identified in freshwater lacustrine sediment in Antarctica for the first time, of which Prymnesiophyceae is assumed to be the source organism. | 7 | Geochemical characteristics and applications of 18α(H)-neohopanes and 17α(H)-diahopanes显示文摘Distributions and geochemical significances of 18α(H)-neohopanes and of 17α(H)-diahopanes in oils from west Xialiaohe depression of the Bohai Bay Basin have been studied. Relative abundance of 18α(H)-neohopanes and of 17α(H)-diahopanes can be effectively used as maturity parameters, in a range of medium-high mature stage, based on consideration on sedimentary-organic facies of source rocks. With a dual geochemical significance of maturity and sedimentary-organic facies, neohopane and diahopane parameters can be well used in oil-source correlation and in petroleum population division. Formation, primary concentration and preservation of precursors of rearranged hopanes are closely related to depositional conditions such as Eh-pH and clays content. | 8 | Levels of synthetic musk fragrances in human milk from three cities in the Yangtze River Delta in Eastern China显示文摘Synthetic musks are used as additives in many household products.After absorption into the human body,they accumulate and their concentrations in human milk reflect both the mother and her infant's exposure level.Concentrations of four synthetic musks,musk xylene(1-tert-butyl-2,6-dimethyl-2,4,6-trinitrobenzene,MX),musk ketone(4-tert-butyl-2,6-dimethyl-3,5-dinitroacetophenone,MK),1,3,4,6,7,8-hexahydro-4,6,6,7,8,8-hexamethylcyclopenta[γ]-2-benzopyran(HHCB) and 7-acetyl-1,1,3,4,4,6-hexamethyl-1,2,3,4tetrahydronaphthalene(AHTN),were determined in human milk samples collected from Shanghai,Wuxi,and Shaoxing in Eastern China.The four synthetic musks were found in most samples analyzed,with HHCB the dominant component followed by MX.The median(mean) values for HHCB,AHTN,MX and MK concentrations were 63(82),5(12),17(24) and 4(9) ng/g lipid weight,respectively.These data suggested the total synthetic musk contamination was low,and the distribution percentage was HHCB > MX > AHTN ≈ MK.The relative high ratio of nitro to polycylic musk indicated that nitro musks were still widely used.The musk concentrations in these cities were not significantly different from each other(p > 0.05).Principal components score plots were obtained,which showed similar exposure sources.The amount of total synthetic musks in human milk were not associated with mother's age,although HHCB was significantly correlated with AHTN(p < 0.05).Daily ingestion of HHCB,AHTN,MX and MK for infants from human milk were estimated as(2526 ± 2926),(370 ± 524),(7391 ± 832),and(277 ± 462) ng/day,respectively.Those doses were 1-2 orders of magnitude below the provisional tolerable daily intakes. | Xiaolan Zhang Gaofeng Liang Xiangying Zeng Jing Zhou Guoying Sheng Jiamo Fu | 2011 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,6: | 8 |
| 9 | Sequential extraction and compositional analysis of oil-bearing fluid inclusions in reservoir rocks from Kuche Depression, Tarim Basin显示文摘The free oils, adsorbed oils and oil-bearing fluid inclusions have been extracted separately and analyzed by GC and GC-MS in reservoir rock samples collected from the Kuche Depression. The results demonstrate that the molecular compositions of oil-bearing fluid inclusions are significantly different from those of the free oils (the current oils). Compared with the current oil, the oil-bearing fluid inclusions are characterized by relatively high values of parameters Pr/nC17 and Ph/nC18, low values of Pr/Ph, hopanes/steranes, C30-diahopane/C30-hopane and Ts/Tm, low content of C29Ts terpane and high maturities as indicated by C29 steranes 20S/(20R+20S). In addition, the oil-bearing fluid inclusions correlate very well with the oils in northern and central Tarim Basin, which were derived from Cambrian-Ordovician marine source rocks. The adsorbed oils appear to be an intermediate type between free oils and oil-bearing fluid inclusions. | 11 | Characterization of organic matter in total suspended particles by thermodesorption and pyrolysis-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry显示文摘The organic matter in tropospheric aerosol plays an important role in atmospheric physical and chemical processes. The bulk of organic matter, representing a significant proportion of the total suspended particulate (TSP) mass, is bound to polymeric material whose structure and properties are largely unknown. Here we used thermodesorption gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Td- GC/MS) to study organic compounds of low molecular mass and pyrolysis gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS) to characterize the chemical structure of macromolecules in TSP samples collected in different seasons from different sites in Guangzhou. n-Alkanes, fatty acids and nitriles were the predominant compounds in the thermodesorption products, whereas aromatics, fatty acids, nitriles and n-alkanes/alkenes were the major compounds in the pyrolysates. The results indicated that aromatics were main units in macromolecules. The fatty acids and nitriles formed from carboxylic ammonium salts were detected in both thermodesorption products and pyrolysates at a certain concentration, indicating the importance of these compounds in TSP formation. The TSP source mainly determined the occurrence of compounds in samples from urban, suburban and forest sites, whereas the TSP source and formation process maybe controlled the seasonal variation in compounds detected. | 12 | Water quality criteria for 4-nonylphenol in protection of aquatic life显示文摘Here reproduction and death toxicity data were selected for 4-nonylphenol based on endocrine disrupting properties of the reproductive system. Assessment factor (AF) and species sensitivity distribution (SSD) curve were employed to derive criteria maximum concentration (CMC) and criteria continuous concentration (CCC) of three different 4-nonylphenols for protection of aquatic life. The results showed that the CMC and CCC based on SSD method and death toxicity data for three different 4-nonylphenols (CAS No: 104405, 25154523, 84852163) were 26.7, 13.6, 3.84 g L 1 and 8.86, 2.21, 0.97 g L 1, respectively. Based on SSD and reproductive toxicity data, the CCC values of different 4-nonylphenols (CAS No: 104405, 25154523) were 1.59 and 1.34 g L 1, respectively. The CCC values obtained by the AF for three different 4-nonylphenol (CAS No: 104405, 25154523, 84852163) were 0.165, 1.03, 0.74 g L 1 and 0.5, 0.5, 0.1 g L 1, respectively, based on death toxicity data and reproductive toxicity data. The CCC values obtained by AF were all lower than the corresponding criteria values obtained by SSD, and the CCC values based on reproductive toxicity data were less than those based on the death toxicity data. | 15 | Sedimentary records of black carbon in the sea area of the Nansha Islands since the last glaciation显示文摘Core 17962 taken from the sea area of the Nansha Islands recorded a sedimentary history of more than 30 000 years. The black carbon data from the core, which can inform us of the history of vegetation fires, show that during the last glaciation, especially during the last glacial maximum at about 18 kaBP, the fluctuation of the concentration and accumulation rate of the black carbon was relatively great, whereas it was small during the Holocene. The isotope composition of the black carbon indicates that the precursors of black carbon were mainly grasses from the last glaciation to the Holocene. The sub-alpine and alpine vegetation zones covered mainly with grass and bush on the lands around the southern South China Sea were probably the sources of black carbon. Based on the hypothesis that δ13C value of sedimentary organic matter is controlled by the depositional environment and productivities of biota grown in such depositional setting, this note examines compound specific carbon isotopic profiles from coal and interbedded shale extracts using the gas chromatography-isotope ratio mass spec-trometry technique (GC/IRMS). The results show that compound specific carbon isotope values from coal extracts are enriched in 13C relative to that of interbedded shale extracts, and provide useful information in characterizing coal- and interbedded shale-sourced oils in coal measures. | 19 | The carbon isotope study of biomarkers in the Maoming and the Jianghan tertiary oil shale显示文摘In terms of the individual carbon isotope data of biomarkers present in the typical freshwater lake sediment (Maoming oil shale) and saline lake sediment lake (Jianghan oil shale) of China, this paper discusses their precursors and depositional environments of biomarkers in both sediment samples. Our studies showed that phytane and pristane of the Maoming oil shale were derived from the phytol side chain of chlorophyll a. By comparing the isotopic composition of 4-methyl sterane with that of sterane and hopane, it is suggested that 4-methyl sterane which has a higher abundance in the Maoming oil shale come from bacteria. The isotopic composition of biomarkers from the Jianghan rock sample (saline lake sediment) is significantly different from that of the Maoming oil shale (freshwater lake sediment). Gammacerane was derived from haloprotozoan, with δ13C being about -25.8‰, just in consistency with the value reported in previous studies.
