1In-vitro antimicrobial activity of marine actinobacteria against multidrug resistance Staphylococcus aureus显示文摘Objective:To investigate the antibacterial aclivily of marine actinobacteria against multidrug resistance Staphylococcus aureus(MDRSA).Methods:Fifty one actinobacterial strains were isolated from salt pans soil,costal area in Kothapattanam,Ongole,Andhra Pradesh.Primary screening was done using cross-streak method against MDRSA.The bioaclive compounds are extracted from efficient actinobacteria using solvent extraction.The antimicrobial activity of crude and solvent extracts was perfomied using Kirby-Bauer method.MIC for ethyl acetate extract was determined by modified agar well diffusion method.The potent actinobacteria are identified using Nonomura key,Shirling and Gottlieb 1966 with Bergey's manual of determinative bacteriology.Results:Among the fifty one isolates screened for antibacterial activity,SRB25were found efficient against MDRSA.The ethyl acetate extracts showed high inhibition against test organism.MIC test was performed with the ethyl acetate extract against MDRSA and found to be 1 000μg/mL.The isolaled actinobacteria are identified as Streptomyces sp with the help of Nonomura key.Conclusions:The current investigation reveals that the marine actinobacteria from salt pan environment can be able to produce new drug molecules against drug resistant microorganisms.Sathish Kumar SR Kokati Venkata Bhaskara Rao 2012Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2012,2,10:5
2Purification,characterization and production optimization of a vibriocin produced by mangrove associated vibrio parahaemolyticus显示文摘Objective:To identify a potential bacterium which produces antimicrobial peptide(vibriocin),and its purification,characterization and production optimization.The bacteria subjected in the study were isolated from a highly competitive ecological niche of mangrove ecosystem.Methods:The bacterium was characterized by phenotype besides 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis.The antibacterial activity was recognised by using agar well diffusion method.The vibriocin was purified using ammonium sulphate precipitation,butanol extraction,gel filtration chromatography,ion-exchange chromatography and subsequently,by HPLC.Molecular weight of the substance identified in SDS-PAGE.Production optimization performed according to Taguchi's mathematical model using 6 different nutritional parameters as variables.Results:The objective bacterium was identified as Vibrio parahaemolyticm.The vibriocin showed 18 KDa of molecular mass with mono peptide in nature and highest activity against pathogenic Vibrio harveyi.The peptide act stable in a wide range of pH,temperature.UV radiation,solvents and chemicals utilized.An overall^20%of vibriocin production was improved,and was noticed that NaCl and agitation speed played a vital role in secretion of vibriocin.Conclusion:The vibriocin identified here would he an effective alternative for chemically synthesized drugs for the management of Vibrio infections in mariculture industry.Baskar Balakrishnan Jayappriyan Kothilmozhian Ranishree Sathish Thadikamala Prabakaran Panchatcharam 2014Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2014,4,4:5

5Interleukin-6 mediates neutrophil mobilization from bone marrow in pulmonary hypertension显示文摘Myeloid cells,such as neutrophils,are produced in the bone marrow in high quantities and are important in the pathogenesis of vascular diseases such as pulmonary hypertension(PH).Although neutrophil recruitment into sites of inflammation has been well studied,the mechanisms of neutrophil egress from the bone marrow are not well understood.Using computational flow cytometry,we observed increased neutrophils in the lungs of patients and mice with PH.Moreover,we found elevated levels of IL-6 in the blood and lungs of patients and mice with PH.We observed that transgenic mice overexpressing Il-6 in the lungs displayed elevated neutrophil egress from the bone marrow and exaggerated neutrophil recruitment to the lungs,resulting in exacerbated pulmonary vascular remodeling,and dysfunctional hemodynamics.Mechanistically,we found that IL-6-induced neutrophil egress from the bone marrow was dependent on interferon regulatory factor 4(IRF-4)-mediated CX3CR1 expression in neutrophils.Consequently,Cx3cr1 genetic deficiency in hematopoietic cells in Il-6-transgenic mice significantly reduced neutrophil egress from bone marrow and decreased neutrophil counts in the lungs,thus ameliorating pulmonary remodeling and hemodynamics.In summary,these findings define a novel mechanism of IL-6-induced neutrophil egress from the bone marrow and reveal a new therapeutic target to curtail neutrophil-mediated inflammation in pulmonary vascular disease.Jonathan Florentin Jingsi Zhao Yi-Yin Tai Sathish Babu Vasamsetti Scott P.O’Neil Rahul Kumar Anagha Arunkumar Annie Watson John Sembrat Grant C.Bullock Linda Sanders Biruk Kassa Mauricio Rojas Brian B.Graham Stephen Y.Chan Partha Dutta 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,2:3

7Starch based nanofibrous scaffolds for wound healing applications显示文摘Starch is an attractive polymer for wound healing applications because of its wide availability,low cost,biocompatibility,biodegradability and wound-healing property.Here,we have fabricated starch-based nanofibrous scaffolds by electrospinning for wound healing applications.The diameter of the optimized nanofibers was determined by field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM)and was found to be in the range of 110e300 nm.The mechanical strength(0.5e0.8 MPa)of the nanofibrous scaffolds was attuned using polyvinyl alcohol(plasticizer)and glutaraldehyde(crosslinking agent),to impart them with sufficient durability for skin tissue engineering.Absence of negative interactions between the polymers was confirmed by Attenuated Total Reflectance-Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy(ATR-FTIR),differential scanning microscopy(DSC)and thermal gravimetric analysis(TGA).Cellular assays with L929 mouse fibroblast cells indicated the ability of the scaffolds to promote cellular proliferation,without exhibiting any toxic effect to the cells.Thus,the nanofibrous scaffolds demonstrated potential for wound healing applications.Vijaya Sadashiv Waghmare Pallavi Ravindra Wadke Sathish Dyawanapelly Aparna Deshpande Ratnesh Jain Prajakta Dandekar 2018Bioactive Materials2018,3,3:3
8Performance evaluation of nickel as anode catalyst for DMFC in acidic and alkaline medium显示文摘Direct methanol fuel cell(DMFC)research is highly focused due to its high energy density,portability and inexpensive.In the present study conventional platinum catalyst used for methanol oxidation is being replaced with nickel catalyst supported over nickel mesh.The electrode is synthesized by single step electro deposition technique.Synthesized electrode was characterized by SEM,EDAX and AFM techniques to know the surface morphology,composition and thickness of the catalyst respectively.The electro catalytic behavior of the nickel for methanol oxidation was evaluated using cyclic voltammetry technique.As the DMFC is compatible with both the acidic and alkaline electrolytes the working of the nickel mesh electrode is analyzed in both media.The results showed maximum current density of 0.025 and 0.030 A/cm2 in alkaline and acidic medium respectively with less potential around 0.4 and 0.2 V.The other parameters such as varying the concentration of methanol,electrolyte medium,scan rate and thickness of the catalytic layer were analyzed and optimized.Sunitha.M Durgadevi.N Asha Sathish Ramachandran.T 2018燃料化学学报2018,46,5:3

10Cavernous hemangioma arising from the gastro-splenic ligament: A case report显示文摘We present a rare case of a 45-year-old woman who presented with epigastric pain associated with early satiety and weight loss. Imaging revealed a large intraabdominal mass in the epigastrium. Despite intensive investigations, including ultrasound scanning, computed tomography, upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, and percutaneous biopsy, a diagnosis could not be obtained. 12Nanofat: A therapeutic paradigm in regenerative medicine显示文摘Adipose tissue is a compact and well-organized tissue containing a heterogeneous cellular population of progenitor cells,including mesenchymal stromal cells.Due to its availability and accessibility,adipose tissue is considered a“stem cell depot.”Adipose tissue products possess anti-inflammatory,anti-fibrotic,antiapoptotic,and immunomodulatory effects.Nanofat,being a compact bundle of stem cells with regenerative and tissue remodeling potential,has potential in translational and regenerative medicine.Considering the wide range of applicability of its reconstructive and regenerative potential,the applications of nanofat can be used in various disciplines.Nanofat behaves on the line of adipose tissuederived mesenchymal stromal cells.At the site of injury,these stromal cells initiate a site-specific reparative response comprised of remodeling of the extracellular matrix,enhanced and sustained angiogenesis,and immune system modulation.These properties of stromal cells provide a platform for the usage of regenerative medicine principles in curbing various diseases.Details about nanofat,including various preparation methods,characterization,delivery methods,evidence on practical applications,and ethical concerns are included in this review.However,appropriate guidelines and preparation protocols for its optimal use in a wide range of clinical applications have yet to be standardized.Madhan Jeyaraman Sathish Muthu Shilpa Sharma Charan Ganta Rajni Ranjan Saurabh Kumar Jha 2021World Journal of Stem Cells2021,13,11:2
13Comparative effectiveness of adipose-derived mesenchymal stromal cells in the management of knee osteoarthritis:A meta-analysis显示文摘BACKGROUND Osteoarthritis(OA)is the most common joint disorder,is associated with an increasing socioeconomic impact owing to the ageing population.AIM To analyze and compare the efficacy and safety of bone-marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells(BM-MSCs)and adipose tissue-derived MSCs(AD-MSCs)in knee OA management from published randomized controlled trials(RCTs).METHODS Independent and duplicate electronic database searches were performed,including PubMed,EMBASE,Web of Science,and Cochrane Library,until August 2021 for RCTs that analyzed the efficacy and safety of AD-MSCs and BM-MSCs in the management of knee OA.The visual analog scale(VAS)score for pain,Western Ontario McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC),Lysholm score,Tegner score,magnetic resonance observation of cartilage repair tissue score,knee osteoarthritis outcome score(KOOS),and adverse events were analyzed.Analysis was performed on the R-platform using OpenMeta(Analyst)software.Twenty-one studies,involving 936 patients,were included.Only one study compared the two MSC sources without patient randomization;hence,the results of all included studies from both sources were pooled,and a comparative critical analysis was performed.RESULTS At six months,both AD-MSCs and BM-MSCs showed significant VAS improvement(P=0.015,P=0.012);this was inconsistent at 1 year for BM-MSCs(P<0.001,P=0.539),and AD-MSCs outperformed BM-MSCs compared to controls in measures such as WOMAC(P<0.001,P=0.541),Lysholm scores(P=0.006;P=0.933),and KOOS(P=0.002;P=0.012).BM-MSC-related procedures caused significant adverse events(P=0.003)compared to AD-MSCs(P=0.673).CONCLUSION Adipose tissue is superior to bone marrow because of its safety and consistent efficacy in improving pain and functional outcomes.Future trials are urgently warranted to validate our findings and reach a consensus on the ideal source of MSCs for managing knee OA.Sathish Muthu Sandesh C Patil Naveen Jeyaraman Madhan Jeyaraman Prakash Gangadaran Ramya Lakshmi Rajendran Eun Jung Oh Manish Khanna Ho Yun Chung Byeong-Cheol Ahn 2023World Journal of Orthopedics2023,14,1:2
