| 1 | Asymmetrically hypointense veins on T2~*w imaging and susceptibility-weighted imaging in ischemic stroke显示文摘AIM:To review the literature on the assessment of venous vessels to estimate the penumbra on T2*w imaging and susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI). METHODS:Literature that reported on the assessment of penumbra by T2*w imaging or SWI and used a validation method was included. PubMed and relevant stroke and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) related conference abstracts were searched. Abstracts that had overlapping content with full text articles were excluded. The retrieved literature was scanned for further relevant references. Only clinical literature published in English was considered, patients with Moya-Moya syndrome were disregarded. Data is given as cumulative absolute and relative values, ranges are given where appropriate. RESULTS:Forty-three publications including 1145 patients could be identified. T2*w imaging was used in 16 publications (627 patients), SWI in 26 publications (453 patients). Only one publication used both (65 patients). The cumulative presence of hypointense vessel sign was 54% (range 32%-100%) for T2* (668 patients) and 81% (range 34%-100%) for SWI (334 patients). There was rare mentioning of interrater agreement (6 publications, 210 patients) and reliability (1 publication, 20 patients) but the numbers reported ranged from good to excellent. In most publications (n = 22) perfusion MRI was used as a validation method (617 patients). More patients were scanned in the subacute than in the acute phase (596 patients vs 320 patients). Clinical outcome was reported in 13 publications (521 patients) but was not consistent. CONCLUSION:The low presence of vessels signs on T2*w imaging makes SWI much more promising. | 3 | Making structured metals transparent for broadband electromagnetic waves显示文摘In this review,we present our recent work on making structured metals transparent for broadband electromagnetic waves by surface plasmons(SPs)or spoof surface plasmons(SSPs).First,we demonstrate that the interference between the localized and propagating SPs plays an important role in the optical transmission through arrays of sub-wavelength holes.The observed phenomena belong to the category of plasmonic Fano efects.Second,we show that the transmission enhancement originates not only from the coupling between the incident light and the excited SPs but also from the coupling among these SPs in multiple nano-aperture stacks.Finally,we demonstrate that metallic plates with narrow slit arrays can become transparent within extremely broad spectral bandwidths,and high transmission efciency is insensitive to the thickness of the metal.This phenomenon explicitly demonstrates the conversion between light and SPs.These investigations provide guidelines to develop many novel materials and devices,such as transparent conducting panels,antireflective solar cells,and other broadband metamaterials. | MENG Chong PENG RuWen FAN RenHao HUANG XianRong WANG Mu | 2013 | Science China(Information Sciences)2013,56,12: | 3 |
| 4 | Impacts of exercise intervention on various diseases in rats显示文摘Background:Exercise is considered as an important intervention for treatment and prevention of several diseases,such as osteoarthritis,obesity,hypertension,and Alzheimer's disease.This review summarizes decadal exercise intervention studies with various rat models across 6 major systems to provide a better understanding of the mechanisms behind the effects that exercise brought.Methods:PubMed was utilized as the data source.To collect research articles,we used the following terms to create the search:(exercise[Title]OR physical activity[Title]OR training[Title])AND(rats[Title/Abstract]OR rat[Title/Abstract]OR rattus[Title/Abstract]).To best cover targeted studies,publication dates were limited to'within 11 years.'The exercise intervention methods used for different diseases were sorted according to the mode,frequency,and intensity of exercise.Results:The collected articles were categorized into studies related to 6 systems or disease types:motor system(17 articles),metabolic system(110 articles),cardiocerebral vascular system(171 articles),nervous system(71 articles),urinary system(2 articles),and cancer(21 articles).Our review found that,for different diseases,exercise intervention mostly had a positive effect.However,the most powerful effect was achieved by using a specific mode of exercise that addressed the characteristics of the disease.Conclusion:As a model animal,rats not only provide a convenient resource for studying human diseases but also provide the possibility for exploring the molecular mechanisms of exercise intervention on diseases.This review also aims to provide exercise intervention frameworks and optimal exercise dose recommendations for further human exercise intervention research. | Ruwen Wang Haili Tian Dandan Guo Qianqian Tian Ting Yao Xingxing Kong | 2020 | Journal of Sport and Health Science2020,9,3: | 3 |
| 5 | Sliding mode control for consensus tracking of second-order nonlinear multi-agent systems driven by Brownian motion显示文摘The consensus tracking problem of nonlinear stochastic multi-agent systems with directed topologies is investigated in this study. To solve the consensus tracking problem, first, an innovative concept of sub-reachability is introduced, and then, the specified sliding hyperplane is designed. A novel consensus tracking protocol is then proposed by using sliding mode techniques. With the help of It?o integral techniques and stochastic Lyapunov method, the sub-reachability of sliding motion and consensus tracking are proved;that is, the sliding mode variable structure control protocol steers the consensus errors to the given sliding surface in a finite time, and the sliding motion is exponentially stable in the sense of mean square. | 20 | Breakdown of Maxwell Garnett theory due to evanescent fields at deep-subwavelength scale显示文摘Deep-subwavelength all-dielectric composite materials are believed to tightly obey the Maxwell Garnett effective medium theory. Here, we demonstrate that the Maxwell Garnett theory could break down due to evanescent fields in deep-subwavelength dielectric structures. By using two-and three-dimensional dielectric composite materials with inhomogeneities at a scale of λ∕100, we show that local evanescent fields generally occur near the dielectric inhomogeneities. When tiny absorptive constituents are placed there, the absorption and transmission of the whole composite will show strong dependence on the positions of the absorptive constituents. The Maxwell Garnett theory fails to predict such position-dependent characteristics because it averages out the evanescent fields. By taking the distribution of the evanescent fields into consideration, we have made a correction to the Maxwell Garnett theory so that the position-dependent characteristics become predictable. We reveal not only the breakdown of the Maxwell Garnett theory, but also a unique phenomenon of 'invisible' loss induced by the prohibition of electric fields at deep-subwavelength scales.
