5Prediction of Dynamic and Aerodynamic Characteristics of the Centrifugal Fan with Forward Curved Blades显示文摘The main aim of this paper is determine the centrifugal fan with forward curved blades aerodynamic characteristics based on numerical modeling. Three variants of geometry were investigated. The first, basic 'A' variant contains 12 blades. The geometry of second 'B' variant contains 12 blades and 12 semi-blades with optimal length[1]. The third, control variant 'C' contains 24 blades without semi-blades. Numerical calculations were performed by CFD Ansys. Another aim of this paper is to compare results of the numerical simulation with results of approximate numerical procedure. Applied approximate numerical procedure [2] is designated to determine characteristics of the turbulent flow in the bladed space of a centrifugal-flow fan impeller. This numerical method is an extension of the hydro-dynamical cascade theory for incompressible and inviscid fluid flow. Paper also partially compares results from the numerical simulation and results from the experimental investigation. Acoustic phenomena observed during experiment, during numerical simulation manifested as deterioration of the calculation stability, residuals oscillation and thus also as a flow field oscillation. 13Effect of Temperature on Emergency Ambulance Call-Outs for Cardiovascular Causes:A Scoping Review显示文摘Climate change has increased interest in the effects of the thermal environment on cardiovascular health.Most studies have focused on mortality data.However,pre-hospital care data are better able to evaluate these effects,as they can register the full spectrum of the disease in real time.This scoping review aims to synthesize the epidemiological evidence regarding the effects of the thermal environment on cardiovascular morbidity in the pre-hospital setting,evaluated through ambulance calls.A staged literature search was performed using the PubMed database for the period between 1st January 2000 and 30th March 2023,using the MeSH terms“Weather”AND“Emergency Medical Services”.A total of 987 publications were identified that examined the correlation between the thermal environment and ambulance call-outs for cardiovascular causes.The studies were mostly ecological time series,with significant variability in the methodological aspects employed.An increase in the number of ambulance call-outs has been observed in association with low temperatures,both for overall cardiovascular pathologies and for certain pathological subtypes.For high temperatures,no effect has been observed in overall call-outs,although an increase has been observed during heat waves.The demand for ambulances for cardiac arrests is increased by both low and high temperatures and during heat waves.Ambulance call-outs for cardiovascular causes increase with low temperatures and heat waves,with no significant increase in the overall demand associated with high temperatures.Ambulance call-outs for cardiac arrests are the only subtype that is increased by high temperatures.Santiago Gestal Romaní Adolfo Figueiras Dominic Royé 2023Environment & Health2023,1,1:0
14Central nervous system stimulation therapies in phantom limb pain:a systematic review of clinical trials显示文摘Phantom limb pain is a chronic pain syndrome that is difficult to cope with.Despite neurostimulation treatment is indicated for refractory neuropathic pain,there is scant evidence from randomized controlled trials to recommend it as the treatment choice.Thus,a systematic review was performed to analyze the efficacy of central nervous system stimulation therapies as a strategy for pain management in patients with phantom limb pain.A literature search for studies conducted between 1970 and September 2020 was carried out using the MEDLINE and Embase databases.Principles of The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guideline were followed.There were a total of 10 full-text articles retrieved and included in this review.Deep brain stimulation,repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation,transcranial direct current stimulation,and motor cortex stimulation were the treatment strategies used in the selected clinical trials.Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation and transcranial direct current stimulation were effective therapies to reduce pain perception,as well as to relieve anxiety and depression symptoms in phantom limb pain patients.Conversely,invasive approaches were considered the last treatment option as evidence in deep brain stimulation and motor cortex stimulation suggests that the value of phantom limb pain treatment remains controversial.However,the findings on use of these treatment strategies in other forms of neuropathic pain suggest that these invasive approaches could be a potential option for phantom limb pain patients.M.Ángeles García-Pallero Diana Cardona Lola Rueda-Ruzafa Miguel Rodriguez-Arrastia Pablo Roman 2022Neural Regeneration Research2022,17,1:3

17Effects of Creatine Monohydrate Diet on Muscle Metabolism,Quality,Sensory and Oxidative Stability of Pork in Female,Entire and Castrated Male Pigs显示文摘Forty-two (42) finishing pigs (entire males—EM, surgical castrates—SC and gilts—G, each of 14)—progeny of Landracesows and Hampshire × Pietrain boars, were included in the trial. They were randomly divided into control and experimental groups(each of seven). Control groups were fed the standard diet without any supplement. Experimental groups received standard diet withthe same composition as control but with supplement of creatine monohydrate (CMH, 2.0 g/kg of feed) for 30 d prior to slaughter.Sex of pigs had significant effect (p < 0.05) on drip loss and tenderness of pork when EM showed higher drip loss than SC and lowertenderness compared to other two groups (4.71% vs. 3.80%, resp. 3.23 vs. 3.91 and 4.12). Creatine level in plasma was increased byCMH supplementation in 46% in EM, 43% in SC and 41% in G. Similarly, concentration of phosphocreatine (PCr) in muscleincreased in 84% in EM, 88% in SC and 83% in G, respectively. CMH also improved meat colour L* (50.03 vs. 48.88) and reduceddrip loss in both EM (5.24% vs. 4.18%) and G (4.48% vs. 3.60%).
