| 1 | EFFECTS OF ACUPUNCTURE ON IMMUNE RESPONSE RELATED TO OPIOID-LIKE PEPTIDES显示文摘Experimental research has recently shown that acupuncture induces the formation of opioid-like peptides (OLPs) in animals. In order to provide further evidence, we tested the β-endorphin levels and other parameters (VIP, lymphocyte subsets, NK cells and monocyte phagocytosis) in a group of 90 patients suffering from various painful disorders treated with acupuncture. Zusanli (St 36) and Hegu (LI 4) acupoints were selected. A homogeneous group of 30 subjects was used as control. Evaluation of the above parameters was made with 3 series of blood tests before treatment, 30 minutes and 24 hours after acupuncture treatment. In the acupuncture group, the following results were achieved: 1) A considerable increase in β-endorphin levels remained high even 24 hours after acupuncture treatment. In addition, we demonstrated an inverted correlation between β-endorphins and VIP; 2) 30 minutes after acupuncture session, 80% of the treated patients showed a significant increase of CD3 and CD4 values and an increase of CD8 24 hours after stimulation; 3) Monocyte phagocytosis was increased in 45% of the treated subjects 30 minutes from starting treatment, and in 100% of them after 24 hours. The percentage of NK cells was also increased in 40% of cases after 30 minutes, and in 50% after 24 hours. | 3 | Novel agents and new therapeutic approaches for treatment of multiple myeloma显示文摘This review summarizes the therapeutic strategies and the drugs actually in development for the management of myeloma patients. Multiple myeloma is caused by the expansion of monoclonal plasma cells and secretion of M-protein(immunoglobulins, Bence Jones protein and free light chains). Multiple myeloma still remains an incurable disease with a high incidence rate in the elderly, despite the introduction of several new therapeutic agents(bortezomib, lenalidomide and thalidomide) which have changed its natural history. The high heterogeneity of this disease leads to large differences in clinical responses to treatments. Thus, the choice of the best treatment is a difficult issue. However, the introduction of new drugs has made it possible to achieve high response rates and good quality respons-es with long-term disease control. Interactions between tumor cells and their bone marrow microenvironment play a pivotal role in the development, maintenance, and progression of myeloma, inducing also drug resistance. These knowledges have improved treatment options, leading to the approval of new drugs which not only target the malignant cell itself, but also its microenvironment. | 5 | Colorectal cancer risk in hamartomatous polyposis syndromes显示文摘Colorectal cancer(CRC) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality around the world, and approximately 5% of them develop in a context of inherited mutations leading to some form of familial colon cancer syndromes. Recognition and characterization of these patients have contributed to elucidate the genetic basis of CRC. Polyposis Syndromes may be categorized by the predominant histological structure found within the polyps. The aim of the present paper is to review the most important clinical features of the Hamartomatous Polyposis Syndromes, a rare group of genetic disorders formed by the peutz-Jeghers syndrome, juvenil polyposis syndrome and PTEN Hamartoma Tumor Syndrome(Bannayan-Riley-Ruvalacaba and Cowden Syndromes). A literature search was performed in order to retrieve the most recent and important papers(articles, reviews, clinical cases and clinical guidelines) regarding the studied subject. We searched for terms such as 'hamartomatous polyposis syndromes', 'Peutz-Jeghers syndrome', 'juvenile polyposis syndrome', 'juvenile polyp', and 'PTEN hamartoma tumour syndrome'(Cowden syndrome, Bananyan-Riley-Ruvalcaba). The present article reports the wide spectrum of disease severity and extraintestinal manifestations, with a special focus on their potential to develop colorectal and other neoplasia. In the literature, the reported colorectal cancer risk for Juvenile Polyposis, Peutz-Jeghers and PTEN Hamartoma Tumor Syndromes are 39%-68%, 39%-57% and 18%, respectively. | 6 | Watt-level and spectrally flat mid-infrared supercontinuum in fluoroindate fibers显示文摘We report on infrared supercontinuum(SC) generation in step-index fluoroindate-based fiber by using an all-fiber laser source. In comparison to widely used ZBLAN fibers for high-power mid-infrared(MIR) SC generation, fluoroindate fibers have multiphoton absorption edges at significantly longer wavelengths and can sustain similar intensities. Recent developments highlighted in the present study allowed the production of fluoroindate fibers with MIR background loss of 2 dB/km, which is similar to or even better than ZBLAN fibers.By using an all-fiber picosecond laser source based on an erbium amplifier followed by a thulium power amplifier,we demonstrate the generation of 1.0 W infrared SC spanning over 2.25 octaves from 1 μm to 5 μm. | 8 | Identify multiple myeloma stem cells: Utopia?显示文摘Multiple myeloma(MM) is a hematologic malignancy of monoclonal plasma cells which remains incurable despite recent advances in therapies. The presence of cancer stem cells(CSCs) has been demonstrated in many solid and hematologic tumors, so the idea of CSCs has been proposed for MM, even if MM CSCs have not been define yet. The existence of myeloma CSCs with clonotypic B and clonotypic non B cells was postulated by many groups. This review aims to focus on these distinct clonotypic subpopulations and on their ability to develop and sustain MM. The bone marrow microenvironment provides to MM CSCs self-renewal, survival and drug resistance thanks to the presence of normal and cancer stem cell niches. The niches and CSCs interact each other through adhesion molecules and the interplay between ligands and receptors activate stemness signaling(Hedgehog, Wnt and Notch pathways). MM CSCs are also supposed to be responsible for drug resistance that happens in three steps from the initial cancer cell homing microenvironment-mediated to development of microenvironment-independent drug resistance. | 9 | 利用卫星测高、GRACE 和 GOCE 资料估计全球海洋表面地转流显示文摘重力恢复和气候试验 GRACE(gravity recovery and climate experiment)卫星极大地提高了地球重力场的精度和分辨率,特别是中长波分量,联合卫星测高数据可获得全球海洋表面大尺度洋流循环。另外,新一代地球重力和海洋环流探测卫星 GOCE(gravity field and steady-state ocean circulation explorer)于2009年3月成功发射,采用卫星重力梯度测量原理,对重力场的高频部分非常敏感,使其高分辨率监测全球海洋循环成为可能。本文利用1~7年 GRACE 观测数据确定的重力场模型和18个月 GOCE 观测数据确定的地球重力场模型 GO CONS GCF 2 TIM R3,联合卫星测高确定的平均海面高模型 MSS CNES CLS 11,分别估计全球海洋表面地转流,并且与实测浮标数据结果进行比较。分析表明 GOCE 重力卫星确定的重力场模型具有更高的空间分辨率,能够确定高精度和高空间分辨率的全球海洋地转流,如墨西哥湾暖流的细节和特征,并且与实测浮标结果基本一致。而基于1~4年 GRACE 观测资料的模型不能很好估计全球地转流特征,基于7年 GRACE 观测资料的重力场模型 ITG-Grace2010s 确定的全球地转流的精度仍低于18个月 GOCE 观测数据确定的地球重力场模型 GO CONS GCF 2 TIM R3的结果,估计的全球地转流仍含有较大的噪声,不能很好地反应中小尺度地转流细节特征。并计算 ITG Grace2010s 和 GOCE TIM3的稳态海面地形和全球平均地转流的内符合精度,结果显示,在全球范围内,GOCE TIM3的稳态海面地形和全球平均地转流的精度都比 ITG Grace2010s 结果的精度有着很大的改善,其中 ITG Grace2010s 的稳态海面地形的精度为21.6 cm,而 GOCE TIM3的结果则为7.45 cm,ITG Grace2010s 的全球平均地转流的精度为40.7 cm/s,而 GOCE TIM3的结果则为19.6 cm/s。 | 冯贵平 金双根 Jose M.Sanchez Reales | 2014 | 海洋学报2014,36,9: | 4 |
| 10 | Derailment risk and dynamics of railway vehicles in curved tracks: Analysis of the effect of failed fasteners显示文摘The effect of the fastener's failure in a railway track on the dynamic forces produced in the wheel-rail contact is studied using the simulation software VAMPIRE to assess the derailment risk of two different vehicles in two curves with distinct characteristics. First, a 3D-FEM model of a real track is constructed, paying special attention to fasteners, and calibrated with displacement data obtained experimentally during a train passage. This numerical model is subsequently used to determine the track vertical and lateral stiffness. This study evidences that although the track can practically lose its lateral stiffness as a consequence of the failure of 7 consecutive fasteners, the vehicle stability would not be necessarily compromised in the flawed zone. This is a case of LCA that was discovered incidentally in a 79-year-old woman who presented with a polycythemia at the time of consultation. The neoplasm was evaluated by ultrasound and computed tomography. The patient underwent a splenectomy that revealed LCA by pathological evaluation. The post-operative outcome was favorable with no complications or recurrent disease. Among them, the occurrence of duodenal adenomatous polyps is considered an almost inevitable event, and their incidence rates increase as a patient's age advances. Although the majority of patients exhibit different grades of duodenal adenomatosis as they age, only a small proportion(1%-5%) of patients will ultimately develop duodenal carcinoma. | 16 | 中国绿色低碳住区减碳技术评估框架体系 讨论稿节选显示文摘低碳建筑已成为建筑界,产业界普遍关注的问题。但国内外学术界至今对'低碳建筑'并未作出明确科学的界定。要科学地界定低碳建筑需要确定各类建筑低碳排放的标准,同时要建立起建筑碳排放的计算方法和评估办法。这是一个需要多学科多专业共同认真研究的课题。全国工商联房地产商会邀请建筑界部分专家对住宅区减碳排放问题进行了多次讨论,在此基础上提出了'中国绿色低碳住区减碳技术评估框架体系'讨论稿。讨论稿提出了'低碳住区'的技术要点,构建原则及减碳评估指标。对住区建筑节能,节水,住区绿化,住区交通以及住区建造期、运行期的许多技术措施提出了量化的计算方法。对住区各个系统的减碳减排放状况提出了评价办法。讨论稿提出的评估框架体系试图为住宅区的减碳计算和评估提出一个可以实际应用的技术方法。这是我们看到的国内第一个提出的系统的减碳技术评估框架体系。这个讨论稿尽管是邀请各方面建筑专家经数次讨论而成,但这毕竟是'一家'之言。讨论稿中所确定的计算方法是否科学,对碳排放状况的评价方法是否合理等等,都有待于进一步研究和论证。既是讨论稿,稿中的论点、公式、方法就可能有不全面、不准确、不科学的部分。这个讨论稿共有5章,核心内容是2~4章。限于篇幅本刊将讨论稿最核心的2~4章全文发表。希望引起业内人士的关注和讨论。 | China Real Estate Chamber of Commerce, Elite (China) Real Estate Academy | 2010 | 动感(生态城市与绿色建筑)2010,0,1: | 2 |

| 20 | Nonlinear increase,invisibility,and sign inversion of a localized fs-laser-induced refractive index change in crystals and glasses显示文摘Multiphoton absorption via ultrafast laser focusing is the only technology that allows a three-dimensional structural modification of transparent materials.However,the magnitude of the refractive index change is rather limited,preventing the technology from being a tool of choice for the manufacture of compact photonic integrated circuits.We propose to address this issue by employing a femtosecond-laser-induced electronic band-gap shift(FLIBGS),which has an exponential impact on the refractive index change for propagating wavelengths approaching the material electronic resonance,as predicted by the Kramers–Kronig relations.Supported by theoretical calculations,based on a modified Sellmeier equation,the Tauc law,and waveguide bend loss calculations,we experimentally show that several applications could take advantage of this phenomenon.First,we demonstrate waveguide bends down to a submillimeter radius,which is of great interest for higher-density integration of fs-laser-written quantum and photonic circuits.We also demonstrate that the refractive index contrast can be switched from negative to positive,allowing direct waveguide inscription in crystals.Finally,the effect of the FLIBGS can compensate for the fs-laser-induced negative refractive index change,resulting in a zero refractive index change at specific wavelengths,paving the way for new invisibility applications. | Jerome Lapointe Jean-Philippe Berube Yannick Ledemi Albert Dupont Vincent Fortin Younes Messaddeq Real Vallee | 2020 | Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1: | 2 |
