| 1 | Efficacy and safety of metformin and sitagliptin based triple antihyperglycemic therapy(STRATEGY):a multicenter,randomized,controlled,non-inferiority clinical trial显示文摘Despite the current guideline's recommendation of a timely stepwise intensification therapy,the 'clinical inertia',termed as the delayed treatment intensification,commonly exists in the real world,which may be partly due to the relatively little substantial evidence and no clear consensus regarding the efficacy and safety of triple oral agents in patients inadequately controlled with dual therapy.In this clinical trial performed in 237 centers in China,5,535 type 2 diabetic patients inadequately controlled by previous therapies were treated with a stable metformin/sitagliptin dual therapy for 20 weeks.The patients who did not reach the glycated hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c) goal were then further randomized into glimepiride,gliclazide,repaglinide,or acarbose group for an additional 24-week triple therapy.A mean HbAlc reduction of 0.85%was observed when sitagliptin was added to the patients inadequately controlled with metformin in 16 weeks.Further HbAlc reductions in the 24-week triple therapy stage were 0.65%in glimepiride group,0.70%in gliclazide group,0.61%in repaglinide group,and 0.45%in acarbose group.The non-inferiority criterion for primary hypotheses was met for gliclazide and repaglinide,but not for acarbose,compared with glimepiride,when added to metformin/sitagliptin dual therapy.The incidences of adverse events(AEs) were 29.2%in the dual therapy stage and30.3%in the triple therapy stage.Metformin/sitagliptin as baseline therapy,with the addition of a third oral antihyperglycemic agent,including glimepiride,gliclazide,repaglinide,or acarbose,was effective,safe and well-tolerated for achieving an HbAlc<7.0%goal in type 2 diabetic patients inadequately controlled with previous therapies.The timely augmentation of up to three oral antihyperglycemic agents is valid and of important clinical benefit to prevent patients from exposure to unnecessarily prolonged hyperglycemia. | Wen Xu Yiming Mu Jiajun Zhao Dalong Zhu Qiuhe Ji Zhiguang Zhou Bin Yao Anhua Mao Samuel S.Engel Bin Zhao Yan Bi Longyi Zeng Xingwu Ran Juming Lu Linong Ji Wenying Yang Weiping Jia Jianping Weng | 2017 | Science China(Life Sciences)2017,60,3: | 19 |
| 2 | Electrochemical and spectroscopic characteristics of dissolved organic matter in a forest soil profile显示文摘Dissolved organic matter(DOM) represents one of the most mobile and reactive organic compounds in ecosystem and plays an important role in the fate and transport of soil organic pollutants, nutrient cycling and more importantly global climate change.Electrochemical methods were first employed to evaluate DOM redox properties, and spectroscopic approaches were utilized to obtain information concerning its composition and structure. DOM was extracted from a forest soil profile with five horizons. Diferential pulse voltammetry indicated that there were more redox-active moieties in the DOM from upper horizons than in that from lower horizons.Cyclic voltammetry further showed that these moieties were reversible in electron transfer. Chronoamperometry was employed to quantify the electron transfer capacity of DOM, including electron acceptor capacity and electron donor capacity, both of which decreased sharply with increasing depth. FT-IR, UV-Vis and fluorescence spectra results suggested that DOM from the upper horizons was enriched with aromatic and humic structures while that from the lower horizons was rich in aliphatic carbon, which supported the findings obtained by electrochemical approaches. Electrochemical approaches combined with spectroscopic methods were applied to evaluate the characteristics of DOM extracted along a forest soil profile. | 7 | Construction of a three-dimensional bionic nerve conduit containing two neurotrophic factors with separate delivery systems for the repair of sciatic nerve defects显示文摘Previous studies of nerve conduits have investigated numerous properties,such as conduit luminal structure and neurotrophic factor incorporation,for the regeneration of nerve defects.The present study used a poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA) copolymer to construct a three-dimensional(3D) bionic nerve conduit,with two channels and multiple microtubule lumens,and incorporating two neurotrophic factors,each with their own delivery system,as a novel environment for peripheral nerve regeneration.The efficacy of this conduit in repairing a 1.5 cm sciatic nerve defect was compared with PLGA-alone and PLGA-microfilament conduits,and autologous nerve transplantation.Results showed that compared with the other groups,the 3D bionic nerve conduit had the fastest nerve conduction velocity,largest electromyogram amplitude,and shortest electromyogram latency.In addition,the nerve fiber density,myelin sheath thickness and axon diameter were significantly increased,and the recovery rate of the triceps surae muscle wet weight was lowest.These findings suggest that 3D bionic nerve conduits can provide a suitable microenvironment for peripheral nerve regeneration to efficiently repair sciatic nerve defects. | Zhiyue Li Qun Zhao Ran Bi Yong Zhuang Siyin Feng | 2011 | Neural Regeneration Research2011,6,13: | 3 |

| 10 | Quantitative Evaluation of the Compatibility Effects of Aidi Injection on the Treatment of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Using Targeted Metabolomics:A New Strategy on the Mechanism Study of an Anticancer Compound in Traditional Chinese Medicine显示文摘Objective:Compound traditional Chinese medicine(CTCM)with the application of compatibility from multiple active ingredients with multiple-specific targets can achieve a synergistic effect on cancer therapy.This study is aimed to observe the compatibility effects of Aidi injection on the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma and to explore the mechanism of CTCM.Methods:Aidi injection is a clinical compound prescription containing Mylabris,Ginseng,Astragalus,and Acanthopanax,which can inhibit tumor growth and induce apoptosis.In this study,the anticancer activity of Aidi injection,as well as its disassembled and combined compositions,had been evaluated by varying levels of polyamine biomarkers on human hepatoma Hep-G2 cells detected using ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.Results:According to the different variations in polyamine levels,it was revealed that Mylabris and Ginseng had an antitumor effect,while Astragalus acted as an assistant and Acanthopanax had weak anticancer activity.The increased level of polyamines in Hep-G2 cells had been found in HL-7702 cells.On combining Mylabris and Ginseng,polyamine levels went close to the normal level,which was even more marked when Astragalus was added.Aidi injection acted like the combination of Mylabris,Ginseng,and Astragalus.Conclusions:This study established a quantitative evaluation of the compatibility effects of Aidi injection based on polyamine biomarkers and evaluated the consistency of its anticancer effect,providing a manner to research the efficacy evaluation of CTCM.Moreover,the correlation between polyamine metabolism and anticancer activity can be used in anticancer drug screening. | Ran Liu Lin-Lin Zhu Chun-Yu Yu Ya-Ping Shuai Ling-Ling Sun Kai-Shun Bi Qing Li | 2021 | World Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,7,1: | 2 |

| 14 | Study on changes of polyamine levels in mice with the development of U14 cervical cancer显示文摘This study was performed to investigate the possible involvement of polyamines in the development of cervical cancer. The objective of the present study was therefore to find the specific polyamine indicators, which could be used as useful markers for the early determination of cervical cancer. A simple method for the simultaneous determination of plasma concentrations of five polyamines in normal and U14 model mice was developed by using HPLC-MS. The samples were derivatized by benzoyl chloride. The derived polyamines were separated on a C18 column by a gradient elution with methanol-water, and then detected with HPLC-MS. The results showed that all polyamine levels in the U14 model mice were higher than those in normal ones. The cadaverine, putrescine and 1, 3-diaminopropane levels were significantly higher in U14 model mice plasma than those in normal mice plasma, especially the putrescine and 1, 3-diaminopropane (Po0.01). The cadaverine, putrescine and 1, 3-diaminopropane levels were significantly higher in U14 mice model urine than those in normal mice urine, especially the cadaverine and 1, 3-diaminopropane (Po0.01). | 15 | Non-secretory multiple myeloma expressed as multiple extramedullary plasmacytoma with an endobronchial lesion mimicking metastatic cancer:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Non-secretory multiple myeloma(MM)is a rare condition that accounts for only 3%of MM cases and is defined by normal serum and urine immunofixation and a normal serum free light chain ratio.Non-secretory MM with multiple extramedullary plasmacytomas derived from endobronchial lesions is extremely rare and can be misdiagnosed as metastasis of solid cancer.CASE SUMMARY A 36-year-old man presented with progressive facial swelling and nasal congestion with cough.Various imaging studies revealed an endobronchial mass in the left bronchus and a large left maxillary mass with multiple destructive bone metastatic lesions.He initially presented with lung cancer and multiple metastases.However,pathologic reports showed multiple extramedullary plasmacytomas in the left maxilla and the left bronchus.There was no change in the serum and urine monoclonal protein levels,and no abnormalities were observed in laboratory examinations,including hemoglobin,calcium,and creatinine levels.The bone marrow was hypercellular,with 13.49%plasma cells.The patient was diagnosed with non-secretory MM expressed as multiple extramedullary plasmacytomas with endobronchial lesions in a rare location.Radiation therapy for symptomatic lesions with high-dose dexamethasone was started,and the size of the left maxillary sinus lesion dramatically decreased.In the future,chemotherapy will be administered to control lesions in other areas.CONCLUSION We present a rare case of non-secretory MM with multiple extramedullary plasmacytoma with an endobronchial lesion. | Seul Bi Lee Chi Young Park Hee Jeong Lee Ran Hong Woo Shin Kim Sang-Gon Park | 2022 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2022,10,22: | 1 |

Content caching has been considered as a fundamental module in network architecture. There exist few studies on the optimization of content caching. Most existing works focus on the design of content measurement,and the cached content is replaced by a new one based on the given metric. Therefore, the performance for service provision with multiple levels is decreased. This paper investigates the problem of finding optimal timer for each content. According to the given timer, the caching policies determine whether to cache a content and which existing content should be replaced, when a content miss occurs. Aiming to maximize the aggregate utility with capacity constraint, this problem is formalized as an integer optimization problem. A linear programming based approximation algorithm is proposed, and the approximation ratio is proved. Furthermore, the problem of content caching with relaxed constraints is given. A Lagrange multiplier based approximation algorithm with polynomial time complexity is proposed.
