Calibration and validation of FAO-AquaCrop model to estimate the total biomass and yacon root yield显示文摘Due to the current water scarcity in the world,it is extremely important to improve the use of this natural and exhaustible resource in agriculture,by contributing to increase agricultural production and sustainability.Several models of crop growth simulation were developed to predict the edaphoclimatic effects on crop yield. These models are calibrated and validated for a given region using the data generated from field experiments. Therefore, the objective of this study was to calibrate and validate the FAO AquaCrop model for yacon(Smallanthus sonchifolius)crop in a tropical climate. The experiment was conducted in an experimental area located in the municipality of Ibatiba, state of Espírito Santo(Brazil)during the years of 2013 and 2014.The calibration was done using the Autumn planting and validation with the Winter and Spring plantings. For the statistical analysis, the coefficient of determination,Willmott concordance index, bias for the systematic error, root mean square error and the mean absolute error to test the model performance were used.In general, the FAO AquaCrop model predicted the root yield, total biomass and harvest index with acceptable accuracy, and with deviations of less than 6%for total and root biomass.Late planting of yacon showed a reduction in yield as well as total biomass.Ramon Amaro de Sales Alexandre Cândido Xavier Evandro Chaves de Oliveira Fábio Luiz de Oliveira Diego Mathias Natal da Silva Sávio da Silva Berilli 2020International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2020,13,3:1

Soil and altitude drive diversity and functioning of Brazilian Páramos(campo de altitude)显示文摘Aims the vegetation on Brazilian Páramos consists of assemblages that are driven mainly by the influence of strong environmental filtering. It is very important to understand the effect of environmental varia-tion on taxonomic diversity and on functional diversity.considering the lack of information about the functional diversity in Brazilian Páramos,we analyzed for the first time the effects of altitude and edaphic attributes on functional traits,as well as on taxonomic and functional diversity. We also wanted to answer the questions:Which ecological strategies are favorable in high-altitude grassland?Does soil attributes determine distributions of traits in high-altitude grassland?considering the studied altitudinal gradient is altitude an important variable in the community assembly? Methods the study was conducted on three mountains:Mammoth(1850 m),Elephant(1790 m)and totem(1690 m)in Serra do Brigadeiro State Park,Minas Gerais State,Brazil.those mountains represent the‘Serra das cabeças’,a smaller ridge that is surrounded by the Atlantic Forest, one of the 25 hotspot of biodiversity.the samples were taken using 100 plots of 1 m2 per mountain that were randomly distributed. All plants except mosses were sampled.the taxonomic diversity was evaluated using richness,Shannon diversity, effective number of species and Pielou evenness. For the functional diver-sity,we considered the functional richness, functional evenness and functional divergence.Generalized linear models(GLM/Poisson and quasi-Poisson)were used to evaluate the effect of abiotic variables(altitude, soil depth and soil chemical attributes)on biotic variables(number of species and individuals, life form, dispersal and fruit type)and ordinary least squares regression to evaluate the effect of abiotic variables on the functional and taxonomic diversity.Important Findingsthe soil variables presented a considerable edaphic gradient associated with altitude.the soil in Serra das cabeças plays an important role for the plant diversity:richness and diversity index were positively related with fertility. With regard to the life form, nanophanerophytes tended to increase with altitude and soil depth, while therophytes tended to decrease with altitude.the dispersal type was also associated with the abiotic variables:autochory decreases with altitude, while zoochory increases.Functional richness increases with fertility and the functional evenness with altitude.the studied gradient showed that altitude is working as a filter for functional traits and indices and is,together with soil attributes,an important determinant for the distribution of plants on Brazilian Páramos.Andreza Viana Neri Gladson Ramon Alves Borges João Augusto Alves Meira-Neto Luiz Fernando Silva Magnago Ian Michael Trotter Carlos Ernesto GRSchaefer Stefan Porembski 2017Journal of Plant Ecology2017,10,5:1

外溢效应抵消亚马逊的环境保护成果显示文摘Diverse conservation efforts have been expanding around the globe, even under the stress of increasing agricultural production.A striking example is the supply-chain agreements put upon the Amazon forest which had reduced deforestation by 80% from the early 2000 s(27,772 km2) to 2015(6207 km2).However,evaluation of these conservation efforts usually focused on the impacts within the Amazon biome only, while the effects that spill over to other areas(e.g.,displacement of environmental pressure from one area to another) were rarely considered.Ignoring spillover effects may lead to biased or even wrong conclusions about the effectiveness of these conservation efforts because the hidden cost outside the target area of conservation may offset the achievement within it.It is thus important to assess the spillover effects of these supply-chain agreements. In this study,we used the two supply-chain agreements(i.e.,Soy Moratorium and zero-deforestation beef agreement) implemented in the Amazon biome as examples and evaluated their spillover effects to the Cerrado. To achieve a holistic evaluation of the spillover effects,we adopted the telecoupling framework in our analysis. The application of the telecoupling framework includes the interactions between distant systems and extends the analytical boundaries beyond the signatory areas, which fill the gap of previous studies. Our results indicate that the supply-chain agreements have significantly reduced deforestation by half compared to projections within the sending system(i.e.,Pará State in the Amazon, which exports soybeans and other agricultural products),but at the cost of increasing deforestation in the spillover system(i.e.,a 6.6 time increase in Tocantins State of the Cerrado, where deforestation was affected by interactions between the Amazon and other places). Our study emphasizes that spillover effects should be considered in the evaluation and planning of conservation efforts, for which the telecoupling framework works as a useful tool to do that systematically.窦玥 Ramon Felipe Bicudo da SILVA 杨洪波 刘建国 2018Journal of Geographical Sciences2018,28,11:1
Microencapsulation with spray-chilling as an innovative strategy for probiotic low sodium requeijao cremoso processed cheese processing显示文摘The effect of sodium reduction and Lactobacillus acidophilus addition(free or microencapsulated)on the quality parameters of requeijao cremoso processed cheese was assessed for 90 days at 5℃.Three formulations were prepared:(CONT)regular salt content and curd fusion(90℃/2 min),(FREE)reduced salt content+free probiotic culture added after curd fusion(90℃/2 min),and(MICRO)reduced salt content+microencapsulated probiotic culture added before curd fusion(70℃/5 min).FREE and MICRO formulations showed increased monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acid content, improved health indices(decreases in thrombogenic index and increases in desirable fatty acid index),and altered rheological properties(higher consistency index, apparent viscosity, elastic properties, and gel strength). In addition, the MICRO formulation showed higher texture sensory acceptance and probiotic counts higher than 6 log CFU/g during storage and simulated gastrointestinal conditions.Overall, microencapsulation of probiotics with spray chilling represents an innovative solution in requeijao cremoso processed cheese.Ramon Silva Tatiana Colombo Pimentel Fernando Eust´aquio de Matos Junior Erick Almeida Esmerino Monica Q.Freitas Carmen Silvia F´avaro-Trindade M´arcia Cristina Silva Adriano Gomes Cruz 2022Food Bioscience2022,46,2:0
Analysis of the Progressive Collapse of Buildings underHigh Temperatures Using Successive ApproximationTechnique显示文摘This paper presents an investigation of the disproportionate collapse of multi-store steel buildings in a natural fire situation due to the progressive failure of their columns. For this purpose,it is intended to evaluate the effects of the redistribution of stress and vertical displacements of columns with the evolution of the temperature addressing, also, the impacts of the localized faults of these structural elements. In addition, another objective of this paper is the development of a practical analysis approach, which is called by successive approximations. As a methodology, advanced computational techniques were developed to predict the structural behavior of the building as the temperature reduces the strength and stiffness of its structural elements. For the parametric study, the overall response of the building was investigated through fire simulations in many columns. The results showed that the phenomenon of redistribution of stresses that occur during the heating period is essentially due to the reduction in the modulus of elasticity of the steel. In addition, the study pointed out that the use of advanced computational techniques through the use of successive approximations technique is an excellent alternative to study the progressive collapse of buildings subject to high temperatures.Luciano Lins Vieira Luciano Mendes Bezerra Ramon Saleno Yure Rubim Costa Silva Welington Vital da Silva Emanuella Guntzel Barbosa Valdeir Francisco de Paula 2020Journal of Civil Engineering and Architecture2020,14,1:0

Spatially-explicit quantitative relationship for a potential PES mechanism:Cascade hydropower development in Yarlung Zangbo River Basin, China显示文摘Payment for ecosystem services(PES) is of great importance for the sustainable development of mountain areas, key hotspot regions for the provisioning of ecosystem services. At present, PES researches mainly focus on forest protection, carbon sink trading, and water protection. As an important industry in mountainous areas, cascade hydropower development has generated substantial economic benefits accompanied by social and ecological impacts. However, efficient PES mechanisms to deal with hydropower generation in mountain areas are still unavailable. Therefore, the lacking of PES in mountain systems limits the development of those areas, and compromise the sustainability of hydropower development. The critical reason lies in the lack of a scientific method that can quantitatively analyze the relationship of hydropower stations with a geographical scope at county level(i.e., quantifying the water yield service provided by each county within the cascade hydropower development basin), and with different hydropower enterprises. We use the Yarlung Zangbo River Basin of China as case study area, one of the major hydropower development basins in China. First, we used Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Tradeoffs(InVEST) model to map water yield service. Then, we calculated the value of water yield service by relating the water yield to the gross output value of hydropower stations. We revealed the relationship(e.g., hydropower stations and identified counties) between the payers and the payees of ecosystem services through mapping and quantifying the provisioning regions in the supply of water yield service and the users(hydropower enterprises). Finally, we discussed the current situation of benefit distribution in cascade hydropower development basin based on the supply and use of the water yield service. The results showed that 1) the spatial distribution of the value of water yield service is uneven: the upper reaches are highvalue areas;the eastern region is higher than the western region;and the maximum value(USD 119.2$/km2) is 34 times higher than the minimum value(USD 3.5 $/km2). 2) We found that four state-owned enterprises are the direct beneficiaries of water yield service, and 37 counties are suppliers, among which Gongbogyamda, Lhari and Damxung are the first level of supply. 3) Each hydropower station is provided with water yield service by several counties, and the value of water yield service varies greatly in each county, showing spatial differences. 4) Most counties are only partially involved in the process of water yield service being used by hydropower stations(i.e.,the boundary of water yield service is inconsistent with the administrative boundary). 5) Huaneng Tibet Yarlung Zangbo River Hydropower Development and Investment Co., Ltd. gets the greatest value(USD 1.8million $) from the use of water yield service, while China Energy Tibet Electric Power Co., Ltd. gets the smallest(USD 389.1 thousand $). 6) Counties near the lower reaches have gained more economic benefits, while the water yield service they provide have the lowest contribution to hydropower production. Our approach linked water yield ecosystem service and hydropower development effectively, and revealed their complex eco-economic relationship between producers and beneficiaries of ecosystem services, which provides key insights for the designing of a potential PES mechanism.ZHU Xiao-kang FU Bin Ramon Felipe BICUDO DA SILVA GUO Ying-man QIN Chan-yuan FENG Ting YU Hai-bing XIAO Kuang 2022Journal of Mountain Science2022,19,4:0

Kaphta:Text mining web tool to extract information on the anticancer activity of polyphenols显示文摘In this paper,we describe the application of Kaphta architecture,a resource for text mining of the anticancer activity of polyphenols. The anticancer activity of these compounds against different types of cancer has been widely reported in the literature and they are one of the most promising molecules for the development of anticancer drugs. The architecture, which comprises four sequential and well-defined steps, uses a hybrid approach composed of a dictionary, rules and machine learning to identify abstracts containing sentences with associations between polyphenol, cancer and gene entities. The application of the architecture on 23826 PubMed abstracts generated a knowledge base of indexed abstracts with 172169 sentences containing,polyphenol-cancer and polyphenol-gene associations.A Web tool was implemented that allowed the user to search for information on 2006 polyphenols,240 cancers and 3121 genes entities, and 11750 polyphenol-cancer and 9160 polyphenol-gene associations indexed in the knowledge base.A ranking algorithm calculates scores for each indexed abstract considering the number and type of sentences with entities and rules recognized.A test with users demonstrated that the visualization resources on the web tool contributes to the understanding of the association between polyphenols, genes and cancers,in comparison with the PubMed Tool. The Kaphta architecture and web tool permits to extract knowledge on the anticancer activity of polyphenols and can thus contribute to the exploration of these molecules in the development of anticancer therapies.Ramon Gustavo Teodoro Marques da Silva Samuel Lucas Santos Gomes Paulo Muniz deÁvila Gustavo Joséda Silva Ana Lucia Fachin Edilson Carlos Caritá Mozart Marins 2022Journal of Polyphenols2022,4,2:0
Sediment transport under the presence and absence of emergent vegetation in a natural alluvial channel from Brazil显示文摘Studies regarding the influence of emergent vegetation on sediment transport are scarce and have mainly focused on flume conditions. To fill this gap and also meet the international need,we aimed to evaluate the influence of emergent vegetation(Echinodorus macrophyllus) on sediment transport of Capibaribe River,Brazil.Bedload and suspended sediment measurements were carried out using the US BLH 84 and US DH 48 samplers, respectively.Measurements of stem diameter, stem spacing and plant density were performed in conjunction with flow and sediment field measurements.Based on our results,0.45 m s^(-1) was the threshold of mean flow velocity supported by E.macrophyllus under field conditions. This value can be helpful for other rivers with gravel-bed river to armoured layer ratio(AR=D_(50-surface))/D_(50-subsurface)=12.50)-natural conditions observed in Capibaribe River-or where the vegetation can provide positive effects, such as increase the bed stability, assist water restoration/rehabilitation and decrease water turbidity. Our results can hopefully be used in engineering practice and ecosystem management. In general, both the drag coefficient and drag force varied inversely and directly with the mean flow velocity and vegetation density, respectively. The vegetation resistance force was inversely proportional to the bedload transport owing to the resistance caused by emergent vegetation. This finding was supported by the clear decoupling between nonvegetated and emergent vegetated conditions indicated by cluster analysis. The study results provided a reasonable understanding of the interaction between emergent vegetation, water flow and sediment transport in the Capibaribe River.Yuri Jacques Agra Bezerra da Silva Jose Ramon Barros Cantalice Vijay P.
