2Multimode optical fiber transmission with a deep learning network显示文摘Multimode fibers(MMFs)are an example of a highly scattering medium,which scramble the coherent light propagating within them to produce seemingly random patterns.Thus,for applications such as imaging and image projection through an MMF,careful measurements of the relationship between the inputs and outputs of the fiber are required.We show,as a proof of concept,that a deep neural network can learn the input-output relationship in a 0.75 m long MMF.Specifically,we demonstrate that a deep convolutional neural network(CNN)can learn the nonlinear relationships between the amplitude of the speckle pattern(phase information lost)obtained at the output of the fiber and the phase or the amplitude at the input of the fiber.Effectively,the network performs a nonlinear inversion task.We obtained image fidelities(correlations)as high as~98%for reconstruction and~94%for image projection in the MMF compared with the image recovered using the full knowledge of the system transmission characterized with the complex measured matrix.We further show that the network can be trained for transfer learning,i.e.,it can transmit images through the MMF,which belongs to another class not used for training/testing.Babak Rahmani Damien Loterie Georgia Konstantinou Demetri Psaltis Christophe Moser 2018Light(Science & Applications)2018,7,1:9

4Enhanced light-matter interactions in dielectric nanostructures via machine-learning approach显示文摘A key concept underlying the specific functionalities of metasurfaces is the use of constituent components to shape the wavefront of the light on demand.Metasurfaces are versatile,novel platforms for manipulating the scattering,color,phase,or intensity of light.Currently,one of the typical approaches for designing a metasurface is to optimize one or two variables among a vast number of fixed parameters,such as various materials’properties and coupling effects,as well as the geometrical parameters.Ideally,this would require multidimensional space optimization through direct numerical simulations.Recently,an alternative,popular approach allows for reducing the computational cost significantly based on a deep-learning-assisted method.We utilize a deep-learning approach for obtaining high-quality factor(high-Q)resonances with desired characteristics,such as linewidth,amplitude,and spectral position.We exploit such high-Q resonances for enhancedlight–matter interaction in nonlinearoptical metasurfaces and optomechanical vibrations,simultaneously.We demonstrate that optimized metasurfaces achieve up to 400-fold enhancement of the third-harmonic generation;at the same time,they also contribute to 100-fold enhancement of the amplitude of optomechanical vibrations.This approach can be further used to realize structures with unconventional scattering responses.Lei Xu Mohsen Rahmani Yixuan Ma Daria ASmirnova Khosro Zangeneh Kamali Fu Deng Yan Kei Chiang Lujun Huang Haoyang Zhang Stephen Gould Dragomir N.Neshev Andrey E.Miroshnichenko 2020Advanced Photonics2020,2,2:8

6Fuzzy expert system for diagnosing diabetic neuropathy显示文摘AIM To design a fuzzy expert system to help detect and diagnose the severity of diabetic neuropathy. METHODS The research was completed in 2014 and consisted of two main phases. In the first phase, the diagnostic parameters were determined based on the literature review and by investigating specialists' perspectives(n= 8). In the second phase, 244 medical records related to the patients who were visited in an endocrinology and metabolism research centre during the first six months of 2014 and were primarily diagnosed with diabetic neuropathy, were used to test the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of the fuzzy expert system.RESULTS The final diagnostic parameters included the duration of diabetes, the score of a symptom examination based on the Michigan questionnaire, the score of a sign examination based on the Michigan questionnaire, the glycolysis haemoglobin level, fasting blood sugar, blood creatinine, and albuminuria. The output variable was the severity of diabetic neuropathy which was shown as a number between zero and 10, had been divided into four categories: absence of the disease,(the degree of severity) mild, moderate, and severe. 9Function projective lag synchronization of fractional-order chaotic systems显示文摘Function projective lag synchronization of different structural fractional-order chaotic systems is investigated. It is shown that the slave system can be synchronized with the past states of the driver up to a scaling function matrix.According to the stability theorem of linear fractional-order systems, a nonlinear fractional-order controller is designed for the synchronization of systems with the same and different dimensions. Especially, for two different dimensional systems,the synchronization is achieved in both reduced and increased dimensions. 10Rice (Oryza sativa L.) nutrient management using mycorrhizal fungi and endophytic Herbaspirillum seropedicae显示文摘Integrated nutrient management with biological and chemical fertilizers can improve rice(Oryza sativa L.) productivity, bio-fortification, soil health and fertility. Accordingly, this study was planned to evaluate the combined effects of biological fertilizers including arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM) fungi(Glomus mosseae) and free-living nitrogen-fixing bacteria(Herbaspirillum seropedicae), as well as chemical fertilizers on the yield and nutrient contents of wetland rice under field conditions. Seedlings were inoculated with AM fungi and the bacteria in the nursery and were then transplanted to the field. The experiment was carried out as a split factorial design with three replicates. Treatments included three rates of nitrogen(N1, N2 and N3) and phosphorous(P1, P2 and P3) fertilizers(100, 75 and 50% of the optimum level) in the main plots and mycorrhizal and bacterial treatments in the sub plots. The total of urea(g) used per plot was equal to N1=200, N2=150 and N3=100 at three different growth stages(seeding, tillering and heading) and the total of P(g) per plot used once at seeding using triple super phosphate including P1=16, P2=13 and P3=10. Plant growth and yield as well as the concentration of nitrogen(N), phosphorous(P), potassium(K), iron(Fe), and zinc(Zn) were measured in the soil, straw and grains. N-fertilizer and biological fertilizers had significant effects on root, shoot and grain yield of rice, however, P-fertilizer just significantly affected root and shoot dry weights. Interestingly, analyses of variance indicated that biological fertilization significantly affected all the experimental treatments except straw N. AM fungi, N1 and P1 resulted in the highest rate of rice growth and yield. The interactions of chemical and biological fertilization resulted in significant effects on grain Zn, Fe, P, and N as well as soil Fe, K and N. The highest rate of grain nutrient uptake was resulted by the combined use of biological fertilization and the medium level of chemical fertilization. Interestingly, with decreasing the rate of chemical N fertilization, rice nutrient use efficiency increased indicating how biological fertilization can be efficient in providing plants with its essential nutrients such as N. However, the highest rate of soil and straw nutrient concentration was related to the combined use of biologicalfertilization and the highest rate of chemical fertilization. 12A noise cross PSD estimator for dual-microphone speech enhancement based on minimum statistics显示文摘Some two-microphone noise reduction techniques that work in the frequency domain exploit coherence function between two noisy signals. They have shown good results when noise signals on two sensors are uncorrelated, but their per-formance decreases with correlated noises. Coherence based methods can be improved when the cross power spectral density (CPSD) of correlated noise signals is available. In this paper, we propose a new method for estimation of the CPSD of the noise, which is based on the minimum tracking technique. 13One-pot, solvent-free and efficient synthesis of 2,4,6-triarylpyridines catalyzed by nano-titania-supported sulfonic acid as a novel heterogeneous nanocatalyst显示文摘Nano titania-supported sulfonic acid(n-TSA) has found to be a highly efficient, eco-friendly and recyclable heterogeneous nanocatalyst for the solvent-free synthesis of 2,4,6-triarylpyridines through one-pot three-component reaction of acetophenones, aryl aldehydes and ammonium acetate. This reported method illustrates several advantages such as environmental friendliness reaction conditions,simplicity, short reaction time, easy work up, reusability of catalyst and high yields of the products. One new compound is reported too. 14Pediatric Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy in the operating room: review of 87 cases显示文摘AIM: To report a large series of children having Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy in the operating room using the lateral decubitus position. METHODS: Medical records of children who underwent Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy in the operating room at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago between September 2008 and April 2017 were reviewed. Induction of general anesthesia and intubation was performed in the supine position after which the patient was placed in lateral decubitus position. The Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy was performed using a standard protocol. At the completion of the procedure, the patient was turned back into the supine position and extubated. RESULTS: This study included 87 eyes of 60 patients. Patient's age ranged from 1 to 18 y(mean 6.4±4.1 y). In most cases(84/87, 97%), the procedure was performed under general anesthesia. In all cases, good focus on the membrane was achieved, and the procedure was performed successfully. There were no intraoperative ocular or anesthesia-related complications. 17Dual bound states in the continuum enhanced second harmonic generation with transition metal dichalcogenides monolayer显示文摘The emergence of two dimensional(2D)materials has opened new possibilities for exhibiting second harmonic genera-tion(SHG)at the nanoscale,due to their remarkable optical response related to stable excitons at room temperature.However,the ultimate atomic-scale interaction length with light makes the SHG of Transition Metal Dichalcogenides(TM-Ds)monolayers naturally weak.Here,we propose coupling a monolayer of TMDs with a photonic grating slab that works with doubly resonant bound states in the continuum(BIC).The BIC slabs are designed to exhibit a pair of BICs,reson-ant with both the fundamental wave(FW)and the second harmonic wave(SHW).Firstly,the spatial mode matching can be fulfilled by tilting FW's incident angle.We theoretically demonstrate that this strategy leads to more than four orders of magnitude enhancement of SHG efficiency than a sole monolayer of TMDs,under a pump light intensity of 0.1 GW/cm^(2).Moreover,we demonstrate that patterning the TMDs monolayer can further enhance the spatial overlap coefficient,which leads to an extra three orders of magnitude enhancement of SHG efficiency.These results demonstrate remarkable pos-sibilities for enhancing SHG with nonlinear 2D materials,opening many opportunities for chip-based light sources,nano-lasers,imaging,and biochemical sensing.Peilong Hong Lei Xu Mohsen Rahmani 2022Opto-Electronic Advances2022,5,7:2
18Insight into molecular mechanisms underlying hepatic dysfunction in severe COVID-19 patients using systems biology显示文摘BACKGROUND The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),a pandemic contributing to more than 105 million cases and more than 2.3 million deaths worldwide,was described to be frequently accompanied by extrapulmonary manifestations,including liver dysfunction.Liver dysfunction and elevated liver enzymes were observed in about 53%of COVID-19 patients.AIM To gain insight into transcriptional abnormalities in liver tissue of severe COVID-19 patients that may result in liver dysfunction.METHODS The transcriptome of liver autopsy samples from severe COVID-19 patients against those of non-COVID donors was analyzed.Differentially expressed genes were identified from normalized RNA-seq data and analyzed for the enrichment of functional clusters and pathways.The differentially expressed genes were then compared against the genetic signatures of liver diseases including cirrhosis,fibrosis,non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),and hepatitis A/B/C.Gene expression of some differentially expressed genes was assessed in the blood samples of severe COVID-19 patients with liver dysfunction using qRT-PCR.RESULTS Analysis of the differential transcriptome of the liver tissue of severe COVID-19 patients revealed a significant upregulation of transcripts implicated in tissue remodeling including G-coupled protein receptors family genes,DNAJB1,IGF2,EGFR,and HDGF.Concordantly,the differential transcriptome of severe COVID-19 liver tissues substantially overlapped with the disease signature of liver diseases characterized with pathological tissue remodeling(liver cirrhosis,Fibrosis,NAFLD,and hepatitis A/B/C).Moreover,we observed a significant suppression of transcripts implicated in metabolic pathways as well as mitochondrial function,including cytochrome P450 family members,ACAD11,CIDEB,GNMT,and GPAM.Consequently,drug and xenobiotics metabolism pathways are significantly suppressed suggesting a decrease in liver detoxification capacity.In correspondence with the RNA-seq data analysis,we observed a significant upregulation of DNAJB1 and HSP90AB1 as well as significant downregulation of CYP39A1 in the blood plasma of severe COVID-19 patients with liver dysfunction.CONCLUSION Severe COVID-19 patients appear to experience significant transcriptional shift that may ensue tissue remodeling,mitochondrial dysfunction and lower hepatic detoxification resulting in the clinically observed liver dysfunction.Sarah Musa Hammoudeh Arabella Musa Hammoudeh Poorna Manasa Bhamidimarri Bassam Mahboub Rabih Halwani Qutayba Hamid Mohamed Rahmani Rifat Hamoudi 2021World Journal of Gastroenterology2021,27,21:2
