3Dietary L-theanine alleviated lipopolysaccharide-induced immunological stress in yellow-feathered broilers显示文摘L-theanine, a natural nonprotein amino acid with a high biological activity, is reported to exert anti-stress properties. An experiment with a 3 ? 2 factorial arrangement was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary L-theanine on growth performance and immune function in lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-challenged broilers. A total of 432 one-day-old male yellow-feathered broilers were randomly assigned to 3 dietary treatments(control, antibiotic and L-theanine diets) with 2 subgroups of each(6 replicate cages;12 birds/cage). Birds from each subgroup of the 3 dietary treatments were intra-abdominally injected with the same amount of LPS or saline at 24, 25, 26 d of age. Both dietary L-theanine and antibiotic improved(P < 0.05) the growth performance of birds before LPS injection(d 1 to 21). The effect of dietary L-theanine was better(P < 0.05) than that of antibiotic. Lipopolysaccharide decreased feed intake(FI) and body weight gain(BWG) from d 22 to 28(P < 0.05), BWG and feed to gain ratio(F:G) from d 29 to 56(P < 0.05), increased mortality in different growth periods(P < 0.05), elevated the levels of serum cortisol, a1-acid glycoprotein(a1-AGP), interleukin-6(IL-6) on d 24 and 25(P < 0.05), reduced immune organ indexes and contents of jejunal mucosal secretory immunoglobulin A(s Ig A) on d 28(P < 0.05). The decreased FI and BWG, as well as increased F:G and mortality in LPS-challenged birds, were alleviated by dietary L-theanine or antibiotic from d 29 to 56 and from d 1 to 56. Dietary L-theanine mitigated the elevated serum a1-AGP level on d 25, serum IL-6 concentration on d 24 and 26, and the decreased jejunal mucosal s Ig A content on d 28 of the LPS-challenged birds. 4Spatial and temporal change patterns of net primary productivity and its response to climate change in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau of China from 2000 to 2015显示文摘The vegetation ecosystem of the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau in China,considered to be the′′natural laboratory′′of climate change in the world,has undergone profound changes under the stress of global change.Herein,we analyzed and discussed the spatial-temporal change patterns and the driving mechanisms of net primary productivity(NPP)in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau from 2000 to 2015 based on the gravity center and correlation coefficient models.Subsequently,we quantitatively distinguished the relative effects of climate change(such as precipitation,temperature and evapotranspiration)and human activities(such as grazing and ecological construction)on the NPP changes using scenario analysis and Miami model based on the MOD17A3 and meteorological data.The average annual NPP in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau showed a decreasing trend from the southeast to the northwest during 2000–2015.With respect to the inter-annual changes,the average annual NPP exhibited a fluctuating upward trend from 2000 to 2015,with a steep increase observed in 2005 and a high fluctuation observed from 2005 to 2015.In the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau,the regions with the increase in NPP(change rate higher than 10%)were mainly concentrated in the Three-River Source Region,the northern Hengduan Mountains,the middle and lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River,and the eastern parts of the North Tibet Plateau,whereas the regions with the decrease in NPP(change rate lower than–10%)were mainly concentrated in the upper reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River and the Ali Plateau.The gravity center of NPP in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau has moved southwestward during 2000–2015,indicating that the increment and growth rate of NPP in the southwestern part is greater than those of NPP in the northeastern part.Further,a significant correlation was observed between NPP and climate factors in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau.The regions exhibiting a significant correlation between NPP and precipitation were mainly located in the central and eastern Qinghai–Tibet Plateau,and the regions exhibiting a significant correlation between NPP and temperature were mainly located in the southern and eastern Qinghai–Tibet Plateau.Furthermore,the relative effects of climate change and human activities on the NPP changes in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau exhibited significant spatial differences in three types of zones,i.e.,the climate change-dominant zone,the human activity-dominant zone,and the climate change and human activity interaction zone.These research results can provide theoretical and methodological supports to reveal the driving mechanisms of the regional ecosystems to the global change in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau.GUO Bing ZANG Wenqian YANG Fei HAN Baomin CHEN Shuting LIU Yue YANG Xiao HE Tianli CHEN Xi LIU Chunting GONG Rui 2020Journal of Arid Land2020,12,1:12

6A Novel Fractal Wavelet Image Compression Approach显示文摘By investigating the limitation of existing wavelet tree based image compression methods, we propose a novel wavelet fractal image compression method in this paper. Briefly, the initial errors are appointed given the different levels of importance accorded the frequency sublevel band wavelet coefficients. Higher frequency sublevel bands would lead to larger initial errors. As a result, the sizes of sublevel blocks and super blocks would be changed according to the initial errors. The matching sizes between sublevel blocks and super blocks would be changed according to the permitted errors and compression rates. Systematic analyses are performed and the experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method provides a satisfactory performance with a clearly increasing rate of compression and speed of encoding without reducing SNR and the quality of decoded images. 7Decolorization of Methyl Orange by a new clay-supported nanoscale zero-valent iron:Synergetic effect,efficiency optimization and mechanism显示文摘In this study, a novel nanoscale zero-valent iron(n ZVI) composite material was successfully synthesized using a low-cost natural clay, 'Hangjin 2#clay'(HJ clay) as the support and tested for the decolorization of the azo dye Methyl Orange(MO) in aqueous solution by n ZVI particles. According to the characterization and MO decolorization experiments, the sample with 5:1 HJ clay-supported n ZVI(HJ/n ZVI) mass ratio(HJ-n ZVI5) showed the best dispersion and reactivity and the highest MO decolorization efficiency. With the same equivalent Fe0 dosage, the HJ-n ZVI1 and HJ-n ZVI5 samples demonstrated a synergetic effect for the decolorization of MO: their decolorization efficiencies were much higher than that achieved by physical mixing of HJ clay and n ZVIs, or the sum of HJ clay and n ZVIs alone. The synergetic effect was primarily due to the improved dispersion and more effective utilization of the n ZVI particles on/in the composite materials. Higher decolorization efficiency of MO was obtained at larger HJ-n ZVI dosage, higher temperature and under N2 atmosphere, while the MO initial concentration and p H were negatively correlated to the efficiency. HJ clay not only works as a carrier for n ZVI nanoparticles, but also contributes to the decolorization through an 'adsorption-enhanced reduction' mechanism. 9Ursolic acid induces U937 cells differentiation by PI3K/Akt pathway activation显示文摘AIM: Ursolic acid(UA), a pentacyclic triterpenoid, is used as an anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer agent. There were few studies on the effects of UA on differentiation, and this is the first time to elucidate the potential effect and molecular mechanism of UA on inducing differentiation in the human leukemia cell line U937. METHODS: Wright-Giemsa staining, nitroblue tetrazolium reduction assay and flow cytometric analysis were utilized to demonstrate the differentiation of U937 cells induced by UA. Western blotting and immunofluorescence assay were used to investigate the possible mechanism. RESULTS: It was found that UA could induce the differentiation of U937cells and Akt-activity was significantly increased during differentiation. Additionally, LY294002, a PI3K-Akt inhibitor, could block the differentiation of U937 cells induced by UA. 10The relationship between physical human-exoskeleton interaction and dynamic factors:using a learning approach for control applications显示文摘During a human-exoskeleton collaboration,the interaction torque on exoskeleton resulting from the human cannot be clearly determined and conducted by normal physical models.This is because the torque depends not only on direction and orientation of both human-operator and exoskeleton but also on the physical properties of each operator.In this paper,we present our investigations on the relationship between the interaction torques with the dynamic factors of the human-exoskeleton systems using state-of-the-art learning techniques(nonparametric regression techniques)and provide control applications based on the findings.Experimental data was collected from various human-operators when they were attached to the designed exoskeleton to perform unconstraint motions with and without control.The results showed that regardless of how the experiments were done and which learning method was chosen,the resulting interaction could be best represented by time varying non-linear mappings of the operator’s angular position,and the exoskeleton’s angular position,velocity,and acceleration during locomotion.This finding has been applied to advanced controls of the lower exoskeletal robots in order to improve their performance while interacting with human.TRAN Huu-Toan CHENG Hong LIN Xi Chuan DUONG Mien-Ka HUANG Rui 2014Science China(Information Sciences)2014,57,12:8
11A novel two-layered optical satellite network of LEO/MEO with zero phase factor显示文摘Optical satellite communication has advantages over the RF satellite communication in capacity, speed, secrecy and anti-interference.Space information superhighway composed of GEO/MEO/LEO satellites which are linked by optical inter-satellite links(OISL) would play important roles in communication, navigation, martial recon, remote sensing and deep space exploration.A novel LEO/MEO two-layered optical satellite network with global coverage is designed with the street-of-coverage technique.The layer of LEO satellites is the walker-delta constellation with zero phase factor and has the quasi-stable logical structure of Mesh.Equatorial and polar orbit satellites constitute the layer of MEO satellite, which can cover LEO layer effectively.Rising satellites of the system can provide 99.9% of coverage for the whole globe and 100% for China averagely.The network can provide a minimum elevation angle at 21 ? with single-satellite visibility for China, and at 16 ? with the dual-satellite visibility.Simulation results of the inter-satellite links show LEO constellation of zero phase factor outperforms non-zero phase factor constellations in azimuth angle, elevation angle and distance, which is very fit for the OISL.Simulation results of the communication performance indicate a little difference between short wave band and long wave band at low communication speed(several Gbit/s);however, the wave band at 1550 nm is a better choice at high communication speed(100 Gbit/s).LI YongJun , WU JiLi, ZHAO ShangHong, MENG Wen, MA LiHua, SHI Lei, CHU XingChun, HOU Rui & LI Tian Telecommunication Engineering Institute, Air Force Engineering University, Xi’an 710077, China 2010Science China(Information Sciences)2010,53,6:8

17Development and application of rapid rehabilitation system for reconstruction of maxillofacial soft-tissue defects related to war and traumatic injuries显示文摘Background: Maxillofacial war injuries usually cause severe facial organ defects and deformities, handicapping the patient's daily activities, even result in a tendency to commit suicide. The application of maxillofacial prosthesis is an alternative to surgery in functional–aesthetic facial reconstruction. Computer aided design and computer aided manufacturing has opened up a new approach to the fabrication of maxillofacial prosthesis. An intelligentized rapid simulative design and manufacture system for prosthesis was developed to facilitate the prosthesis fabrication procedure.Methods: Maxillofacial prosthesis rapid simulation design and rapid fabrication system consists of three components: digital impression, intelligentized prosthesis designing, and rapid manufacturing. The patients' maxillofacial digital impressions were taken with Structured-light 3D scanner; and then the 3D model of prostheses and their negative molds could be designed in specific software; finally, with the resin molds fabricated by rapid prototyping machine, the prostheses could be produced directly and quickly.Results: Fifteen patients of maxillofacial defect caused by traumatic injuries received prosthesis rehabilitation provided by the established system. The contour of the prostheses coordinated properly with the appearance of the patients, and the uniform-thickness border sealed well to adjacent tissues. All the patients were satisfied with their prostheses.Conclusions: The rapid simulative rehabilitation system of maxillofacial defects has been approaching completion. 18Consumer acceptability and sensory profiling of sesame oils obtained from different processes显示文摘This study aimed to investigate the effect of oil processing technologies on the sensory qualities of sesame oils and to identify drivers of liking.Using a check-all-that-apply(CATA)question and a hedonic scale,150 consumers evaluated the acceptability and sensory characteristics of 5 sesame oil samples including an aqueous extracted oil(S1),a cold-pressed oil(S2),two batches of screw-pressed oils(S3 and S5)and one crude sesame oil(S4).Solid-phase microextraction-gas chromatography-olfactometry-mass spectrometry(SPME-GC-O-MS)was used to identify odour-active compounds.The results showed that roasting,extraction techniques and filtration process influenced sensory perception and the acceptability of sesame oils.Consumers liked roasted sesame oils more than the cold-pressed sesame oil and liked the aqueous extracted sesame oil the most.Sensory attributes'sweet smell','mellow','roasted','nutty','persistent','high-intense flavour'and'cooked sesame seed flavour'were drivers of liking,while'green','raw sesame seed','rancid','woody'and'fishy'were drivers of disliking.'Burnt'flavour was liked by some while disliked by others.Pyrazines contributed to roasted flavour;2-acetylpyrrole,acetophenone and furfural contributed to nutty flavour;2-pentyl-furan,5-methyl-2-furancarboxaldehyde,and 2-phenyl-2-butenal contributed to sweet odour in the roasted sesame seeds.Nonanal,hexanal,1-hexanol and ocimene were responsible for the'green'flavour perceived in the cold-pressed oil.This study provides valuable information for sesame manufacturers on how to improve the sensory qualities of sesame oils through process manipulation to meet the needs of diverse consumers.Wenting Yin Maradza Washington Xueting Ma Xi Yang Aliu Lu Rui Shi Renyong Zhao Xuede Wang 2020Grain & Oil Science and Technology2020,3,2:5
19Resistance and fitness costs in diamondback moths after selection using broflanilide, a novel meta-diamide insecticide显示文摘The diamondback moth (DBM) Plutella xylostella (L.) (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae) is an insect pest found around the world that feeds on cruciferous crops. The DBM has become resistant to most insecticides in current use in the field. Broflanilide is a novel meta-diamide insecticide that binds to a new site on the γ-aminobutyric acid receptor and very efficiently protects against most pests in the order Lepidoptera, including DBM. In this study, the resistance of a laboratory-bred susceptible strain of DBM to broflanilide and the fitness costs posed by broflanilide to the DBM were evaluated. The DBM had no obvious resistance to broflanilide after 10 generations of selection. The realized heritability h2 was 0.033, suggesting a low risk of resistance developing in this strain. The F10 generation had no cross-resistance to the insecticides abamectin and endosulfan (which target the γ-aminobutyric acid receptor) and chlorantraniliprole (which targets a non-γ-aminobutyric acid receptor). The specific activities of important detoxification enzymes (cytochrome P450 monooxygenase, esterase, and glutathione S-transferase) were not obviously altered. However, the larval stage was prolonged and the adult stage was shortened significantly in F11 generation than the F0 generation. The total preoviposition period TPOP significantly prolonged 1.90 d in F11 generation. The fitness value Rf (0.93) was lower for the F11 generation than the F0 generation. The results indicated that long-term exposure to broflanilide exerts clear fitness costs in the DBM.
