| 4 | New vacuum solar telescope and observations with high resolution显示文摘The New Vacuum Solar Telescope(NVST) is a one meter vacuum solar telescope that aims to observe fine structures on the Sun. The main goals of NVST are high resolution imaging and spectral observations, including measurements of the solar magnetic field. NVST is the primary ground-based facility used by the Chinese solar research community in this solar cycle. It is located by Fuxian Lake in southwest China, where the seeing is good enough to perform high resolution observations. We first introduce the general conditions at the Fuxian Solar Observatory and the primary science cases of NVST. Then, the basic structures of this telescope and instruments are described in detail. | 5 | Extract of Naotaifang, a compound Chinese herbal medicine, protects neuron ferroptosis induced by acute cerebral ischemia in rats显示文摘Objective:Our previous research showed that Naotaifang(a compound traditional Chinese herbal medicine)extract(NTE)has clinically beneficial effects on neurological improvement of patients with acute cerebral ischemia.In this study,we investigated whether NTE protected acute brain injury in rats and whether its effects on ferroptosis could be linked to the dysfunction of glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4)and iron metabolism.Methods:We established an acute brain injury model of middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO)in rats,in which we could observe the accumulation of iron in neurons,as detected by Perl’s staining.Using assay kits,we measured expression levels of ferroptosis biomarkers,such as iron,glutathione(GSH),reactive oxygen species(ROS)and malonaldehyde(MDA);further the expression levels of transferrin receptor1(TFR1),divalent metal transporter 1(DMT1),solute carrier family 7 member 11(SLC7 A11)and GPX4 were determined using immunohistochemical analysis,real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction and Western blot assays.Results:We found that treatment with NTE reduced the expression levels of TFR1 and DMT1,reduced ROS,MDA and iron accumulation and reduced neurobehavioral scores,relative to untreated MCAO rats.Treatment with NTE increased the expression levels of SLC7 A11,GPX4 and GSH,and the number of Nissl bodies in the MCAO rats.Conclusion:Taken together,our data suggest that acute cerebral ischemia induces neuronal ferroptosis and the effects of treating MCAO rats with NTE involved inhibition of ferroptosis through the TFR1/DMT1 and SCL7 A11/GPX4 pathways. | Bin Lan Jin-wen Ge Shao-wu Cheng Xi-long Zheng Jun Liao Chao He Zheng-qing Rao Guo-zuo Wang | 2020 | Journal of Integrative Medicine2020,18,4: | 37 |

| 10 | In situ cryogenic Raman spectroscopic studies on the synthetic fluid inclusions in the systems H_(2)O and NaCl-H_(2)O显示文摘Salt-hydrates have diagnostic cryogenic Raman spectra, which can reflect the composition of the parent solutions. As analogue to the natural fluid inclusions, the synthetic inclusions can be used to validate numerous assumptions related to fluid inclu- sion research. They can also be used to test the feasibility of application of laser Raman spectroscopy to individual fluid inclusion analysis. Using the tech- nique proposed by Sterner and Bodnar(1984), syn- thetic inclusions of the systems H2O and NaCl-H2O (with NaCl as 5.12 wt%, 9.06 wt%, 16.6 wt% and 25 wt%) were formed under the pressures from 50Mpa to 100Mpa and at the temperatures from 500℃ to 600℃. In situ cryogenic Raman spectra were col- lected at about –180℃ by combined use of freezing- heating stage and Laser Raman Microscopy. It is shown that hydrohalite (NaCl?2H2O), the salt-hydrate of NaCl in the fluid inclusions has the specific Raman spectrum and can be used as the standard to verify the existence of NaCl in the aqueous inclusions. The crystalline ice other than amorphous ice (glasses) formed from the aqueous phase whthin the synthetic inclusions during the initial freezing, but hydrohalite did not form. Subsequent warming of these inclusions induced a phase change, typically between ap- proximately –40 and –22℃, that represents the hy- drohalite crystallization event but not a eutectic melting event. So, for fluid inclusions in the system NaCl-H2O, interpretation of phase behavior below the eutectic temperature (–20.8℃) should be made with caution. | 15 | Variations of organic carbon isotopic composition and its environmental significance during the last glacial on western Chinese Loess Plateau显示文摘A high-resolution loess section in the western Chinese Loess Plateau, Yuanbao Section, was sampled for organic carbon isotopic analyses. The soil organic carbon isotope (δ13Corg) varied be- tween ?22.6‰ and ?27.5‰ during the last glacial at the section. During the last interstadial, the δ 13Corg values were more negative than those in both early and late periods of the last glacial by 4‰. The iso- topic composition indicates a coupled response of the pure C3 plants to the temperature, precipitation and the concentration of atmospheric CO2. Decrease in temperature and the atmospheric CO2 concentration from the last interstadial to Last Glaicial Maximum (LGM) caused the organic carbon isotopes to be- come positive by 1.5‰―2.0‰. The amplitude of 4‰ in the δ 13Corg variation during the last glacial should be mainly caused by the precipitation change. Therefore, the δ 13Corg variations of the Yuanbao Section during the last glacial period documented the large-amplitude fluctuation of the monsoon precipita- tion, which is estimated to be 250―310 mm more during the last interstadial than that in the LGM, and 100 mm more than that during early last glacial. The rapid changes of the monsoon precipitation on mil-lennial scale during the last glacial have also been recorded in the isotopic variations in Yuanbao loess section. | 17 | Pancreatic stellate cell: Pandora's box for pancreatic disease biology显示文摘Pancreatic stellate cells(PSCs) were identified in the early 1980 s, but received much attention after 1998 when the methods to isolate and culture them from murine and human sources were developed. PSCs contribute to a small proportion of all pancreatic cells under physiological condition, but are essential for maintaining the normal pancreatic architecture. Quiescent PSCs are characterized by the presence of vitamin A laden lipid droplets. Upon PSC activation, these perinuclear lipid droplets disappear from the cytosol, attain a myofibroblast like phenotype and expresses the activation marker, alpha smooth muscle actin. PSCs maintain their activated phenotype via an autocrine loop involving different cytokines and contribute to progressive fibrosis in chronic pancreatitis(CP) and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC). Several pathways(e.g., JAK-STAT, Smad, Wnt signaling, Hedgehog etc.), transcription factors and mi RNAs have been implicated in the inflammatory and profibrogenic function of PSCs. The role of PSCs goes much beyond fibrosis/desmoplasia in PDAC. It is now shown that PSCs are involved in significant crosstalk between the pancreatic cancer cells and the cancer stroma. These interactions result in tumour progression, metastasis, tumour hypoxia, immune evasion and drug resistance. However, effective advances remain lacking. Hyperbaric oxygen preconditioning has proved to protect vital organs, such as the heart, liver, and brain. Recently, it has been introduced and widely studied in the prevention of postoperative cognitive dysfunction, with promising results. However, the neuroprotective mechanisms underlying this phenomenon remain controversial. This review summarizes and highlights the definition and application of hyperbaric oxygen preconditioning, the perniciousness and pathogenetic mechanism underlying postoperative cognitive dysfunction, and the effects that hyperbaric oxygen preconditioning has on postoperative cognitive dysfunction. | 20 | Effects of multimodal fast-track surgery on liver transplantation outcomes显示文摘BACKGROUND:Fast-track surgery and enhanced recovery after surgery have been applied to many surgical procedures;however,data on fast-track surgery and enhanced recovery after surgery following liver transplantation is limited.This study aimed to conduct a prospective study to determine the effects of fast-track surgery on prognosis after liver transplantation.METHODS:This was a prospective,single-blinded,randomized study.One hundred twenty-eight patients undergoing liver transplantation were selected for the fast-track(FT group,n=54) or conventional process(NFT group,n=74).The primary endpoints were intensive care unit(ICU) stay and hospital stay.The secondary endpoints were as follows:operative time,anhepatic phase time,intraoperative blood loss,intraoperative blood transfusion volume,postoperative complications,readmission rate,and postoperative mortality.RESULTS:There was no significant difference in preoperative demographics between the two groups.The median ICU stay was 2 days(range 1-7 days) in the FT group and 5 days(range 3-12 days) in the NFT group(P<0.01).Furthermore,the hospital stay was also significantly reduced in the FT group(P<0.01).The operative time,anhepatic phase time,intraoperative blood loss,and intraoperative blood transfusion volume were decreased in the FT group compared with the NFT group(P<0.05).Based on Spearman correlation analysis,the ICU stay and hospital stay may be positively correlated with operative time,anhepatic phase time and intraoperative blood loss.There were no differences in the incidence of postoperative complications,readmissions,and postoperative mortality between the two groups.CONCLUSION:Fast-track procedures effectively reduce the ICU stay and hospital stay without adversely affecting prognosis.This study demonstrated that fast-track protocols are safe and feasible in liver transplantation. | Jian-Hua Rao Feng Zhang Hao Lu Xin-Zheng Dai Chuan-Yong Zhang Xiao-Feng Qian Xue-Hao Wang Ling Lu | 2017 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2017,16,4: | 23 |
