1The input/removal rates of size-fractionated ^210Po in the Jiulongjiang estuary and its implications显示文摘The geochemical behaviors of dissolved (<0.4 mm), low molecular weight (<10 kDa) and colloidal (10 kDa- 0.4 mm) 210Po in surface waters from the Jiulongjiang estuary were examined and the input/removal rates of different 210Po species were estimated. Both dissolved and low molecular weight 210Po were considerably removed during estuarine mixing. However, colloidal 210Po was removed only at low salinity regions (S <15) but had input behavior at high salin-ity surface waters (S >15). The input/removal rates of three species indicate that 210Po was removed rapidly in the Jiu-longjiang estuary. The discrepancy of input/removal rates between 210Po species suggests different geochemical be-havior and a dynamic transformation between 210Po species. 2Regional estimates of POC export flux derived from thorium-234 in the western Arctic Ocean显示文摘In order to elucidate the regional export variation of particulate organic carbon in the western Arctic Ocean, samples vertically integrated between 0 and 100 m depth or between 0 and 30 m/40 m depth were collected for total 234Th measurements and those from 30 m/40 m or 100 m depth were collected for particulate 234Th measurements during the Second Chinese Arctic Expedition in July-September 2003. The removal fluxes and residence time of 234Th in the upper water column were calculated by using irreversible steady-state scavenging model. The results showed that, total 234Th was deficit relative to its parent 238U in the western Arctic Ocean except in the western Chukchi shelf and the slope regions around 160°W, indicating that scavenging and removal processes play an important role in element biogeochemical cycle in the Arctic Ocean. In the western Chukchi shelf and the slope regions around 160°W, total 234Th was excess relative to 238U, ascribing to the horizontal input of 234Th adsorbed by ice-rafted sediments. Thorium-234 removal fluxes decreased from the shelf to the deep ocean, while the residence time of 234Th increased from shelf to offshore, demonstrating that particle scavenging and removal processes are more active in the shelf regions. The estimated POC export fluxes from 40 m in the shelf regions and from 100 m in the slope and deep ocean varied between 1.6 and 27.5 mmol/(m2·d), and between 1.8 and 14.4 mmol/(m2·d), respectively. The averaged POC export fluxes over the entire water column decreased from the shelf to the deep ocean, indicating that the Chukchi shelf is an important region for organic carbon sequestration. 3Identification of three major Bemisia tabaci biotypes in China based on morphological and DNA polymorphisms显示文摘The sweet potato whitefly, Bemisia tabaci, is a complex species, and many of its biotypes are important agricultural pests. The B and Q biotypes are invasive and coexist with the native Cv biotype on vegetable and ornamental crops in China. In this study, these three bio- types were identified based on their morphological characteristics, RAPD-PCR analysis, and DNA sequences of the COI gene. The ante-rior and posterior wax fringes of the B, Q, and Cv biotypes significantly differed from each other. Based on this morphological characteristic, the three biotypes can easily be distinguished in greenhouses and fields. Genomic DNA RAPD-PCR band patterns also revealed differences between these biotypes using the H16 primer. The B biotype has three bright DNA bands between 250 and 600 bp, the Q biotype only has one bright band at 300 bp, while the Cv biotype has no band between 250 and 500 bp. Both the Cv and Q biotypes have two bright bands at 750 and 1000 bp while the B biotype has only one band at 1000 bp. Based on the COI gene, the genetic identity between B and Cv, B and Q, and Q and CV was 85.8%, 94.7%, and 86.0%, respectively. The MP tree indicated that the phylogenetic relationship between the B and Q biotypes is much closer than that between the B and Cv or the Q and Cv biotypes. 5^(226)Ra evidence for the ecosystem shift over the past 40 years in the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre显示文摘Surface seawater was collected for ^(226)Ra measurement in the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre from July to October, 1999 and October to December, 2003. Combined with the historical data reported for this sea area, a declined trend of surface ^(226)Ra concentrations was observed since 1960s, indicating the ecosystem shift in response to global warming. On one side, the enhanced stratification of the upper water column resulting from global warming reduced the ^(226)Ra input from the depth, on the other, the temporal increase of biological production resulting from the climate-related ecosystem structure change strengthened the ^(226)Ra removal from the surface ocean. Both the physical and biological processes resulted in the decrease of surface ^(226)Ra concentrations in the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre. The temporal trend of surface ^(226)Ra concentrations was consistent with the trends of chlorophyll a, silicate, phosphate and primary production previously reported. 6Abnormal strain changes observed by a borehole strainmeter at Guza Station before the Ms7. 0 Lushan earthquake显示文摘Several days before the Ms7.0 Lushan earthquake,the YRY-4 borehole Strainmeter at Guza Station recorded prominent abnormal changes.The strain anomalies are very striking on the smooth background of several years’recording after the Wenchuan earthquake.However,because construction in the town of Guza has been undergoing rapid development in recent years,many factors have interfered with observations at the station.Whether or not the observed strain changes before the Lushan earthquake were affected by any of the sources of interference becomes a question that must be answered.Among the likely sources of interference,apartment construction,sportsground reconstruction,and tunnel cutting can be excluded by analyzing the morphological characteristic of the anomalies.The two remaining most possible sources are road construction in front of the station and the water level change of the nearby Dadu River caused by water filling into and discharging from an upstream reservoir.Through field investigation,comparison of the correlation between the strain and the seismographic recordings,comparison of the correlation between the strain and the Dadu River flow recordings,and analysis of the strain anomaly characteristics,we conclude that the abnormal changes observed at Guza Station cannot be attributed to either of these two sources but should be related to the Lushan earthquake.Qiu Zehua Yang Guang Tang Lei Guo Yanping Zhang Baohong 2013Geodesy and Geodynamics2013,4,3:4
7Contrasting patterns of river runoff and sea-ice melted water in the Canada Basin显示文摘The fractions of river runoff and sea-ice melted water in the Canada Basin in summer 2003 were determined by the salinity-18O system. The fraction of river runoff(fR) was high in the upper 50 m of the water column and decreased with depth and latitude. The signals of the river runoff were confined to water depths above 200 m. The total amount of river runoff in the Canada Basin was higher than that in other arctic seas, indicating that the Canada Basin is a main storage region for river runoff. The penetration depth of the sea-ice melted water was less than 50 m to the south of 78°N, while it was about 150 m to the north of 78°N. The total amount of sea-ice melted water was much higher to the north of 78°N than to the south of 78°N, indicating the sea-ice melted waters accumulated on the ice edge. 8The strain seismograms of P- and S-waves of a local event recorded by four-gauge borehole strainmeter显示文摘At a sampling rate of 100 samples per second,the YRY-4 four-gauge borehole strainmeters(FGBS) are capable of recording transient strains caused by seismic waves such as P and S waves or strain seismograms. At such a high sampling rate, data from the YRY-4 strainmeters demonstrate fairly satisfactory self-consistency. The strain tensor seismograms demonstrate the senses of motion of P waves, that is, the type of seismic wave travels in the direction of the maximum normal strain change. The observed strain patterns of S waves significantly differ from those of P waves and should contain information about the source mechanism. 9Surface disorder engineering in ZnCdS for cocatalyst free visible light driven hydrogen production显示文摘Metal chalcogenide solid solution,especially ZnCdS,has been intensively investigated in photocatalytic H_(2) generation due to their cost-effective synthetic procedure and adjustable band structures.In this work,we report on the defect engineering of ZnCdS with surface disorder layer by simple room temperature Li-ethylenediamine(Li-EDA)treatment.Experimental results confirm the formation of unusual Zn and S dual vacancies,where rich S vacancies(Vs)served as electron trapping sites,meanwhile Zn vacancies(Vzn)served as hole trapping sites.The refined structure significantly facilitates the photo charge carrier transfer and improves photocatalytic properties of ZnCdS.The disordered ZnCdS shows a highest photocatalytic H_(2) production rate of 33.6 mmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1) under visible light with superior photocatalytic stabilities,which is 7.3 times higher than pristine ZnCdS and 7 times of Pt(1 wt.%)loaded ZnCdS.Enna Ha Shuhong Ruan Danyang Li Yuanmin Zhu Yanping Chen Jiangyuan Qiu Zhaohui Chen Tingting Xu Jingyun Su Luyang Wang Junqing Hu 2022Nano Research2022,15,2:3
10Effect of current emission abatement strategies on air quality improvement in China:A case study of Baotou,a typical industrial city in Inner Mongolia显示文摘The national Air Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan required significant decreases in PM_(2.5) levels over China.To explore more effective emission abatement strategies in industrial cities,a case study was conducted in Baotou to evaluate the current national control measures.The total emissions of SO_2,NO_X,PM_(2.5) and NMVOC(non-methane volatile organic compounds) in Baotou were 211.2 Gg,156.1 Gg,28.8 Gg,and 48.5 Gg,respectively in 2013,and they would experience a reduction of 30.4%,26.6%,15.1%,and 8.7%,respectively in 2017 and 39.0%,32.0%,24.4%,and 12.9%,respectively in2020.The SO_2,NO_Xand PM_(2.5) emissions from the industrial sector would experience a greater decrease,with reductions of 37%,32.7 and 24.3%,respectively.From 2013 to 2020,the concentrations of SO_2,NO_2,and PM_(2.5) are expected to decline by approximately 30%,10% and 14.5%,respectively.The reduction rate of SNA(sulfate,nitrate and ammonium)concentrations was significantly higher than that of PM_(2.5) in 2017,implying that the current key strategy toward controlling air pollutants from the industrial sector is more powerful for SNA.Although air pollution control measures implemented in the industrial sector could greatly reduce total emissions,constraining the emissions from lower sources such as residential coal combustion would be more effective in decreasing the concentration of PM_(2.5) from 2017 to 2020.These results suggest that even for a typical industrial city,the reduction of PM_(2.5) concentrations not only requires decreases in emissions from the industrial sector,but also from the low emission sources.The seasonal variation in sulfate concentration also showed that emission from coal-burning is the key factor to control during the heating season.Xionghui Qiu Lei Duan Siyi Cai Qian Yu Shuxiao Wang Fahe Chai Jian Gao Yanping Li Zhaoming Xu 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,7:2

14Discovery of New Thioviridamide-Like Compounds with Antitumor Activities显示文摘Thioviridamide is a structurally unique compound with potent antitumor activity.The biosynthesis of thioviridamide follows a typical pathway as ribosomally synthesized and post-transiationally modified peptides,making the genome mining-based discovery of thioviridamide-like compounds rational.Taking advantage of the linkage between the precursor peptide and the metabolite skeleton,we identified a new biosynthetic gene cluster in Streptomyces sp.NRRL S-87 that could encode thioviridamide analogues.Overexpression of the whole gene cluster led to the isolation and structure elucidation of TVA-YJ-4 and TVA-YJ-5,two novel thioviridamide-like compounds featuring N-terminal capping groups.Chemical screening of the fermentation extracts also detected TVA-YJ-6,another new thioviridamide-like compound with representative methionine sulfoxide.Detailed analysis further revealed that these structural modifications were introduced during the compound extraction process instead of through genuine enzymatic reactions.TVA-YJ-4 and TVA-YJ-5 display slightly reduced cytotoxic activities against a panel of tumor cell lines in comparison with their parental natural product,TVA-YJ-2.Our work will expand the membership of this rare class of compounds and promote related biosynthetic studies.Yuqing Li Jingyu Liu Haoyu Tang Yanping Qiu Dandan Chen Wen Liu 2019Chinese Journal of Chemistry2019,37,10:1

19Size-fractionated uranium isotopes in surface waters in the Jiulong Estuary in China显示文摘Surface water was collected from the Jiulong Estuary for determination of activity concentrations of uranium isotopes in different size fractions,namely,greater than 53,10~53,2~10,0.4~2 μm,10 000 u^0.4 μm and less than 10 000 u fractions by microfiltration and cross-flow ultrafiltration technologies. Results indicated that most of the dissolved uranium (<0.4 μm) existed in the low molecular mass fraction (<10 000 u),and the colloidal uranium-238 (10 000 u^0.4 μm) only contributed less than 1% of the dissolved uranium-238. The fractions of colloidal uranium in the dissolved phases decreased with the increasing salinity. A positive linear relationship between uranium-238 activities and salinities was observed for the dissolved,colloidal and low molecular mass fractions,indicating a conservative behavior of uranium in the Jiulong Estuary. In the particulate phases (>0.4 μm),the partitioning of uranium isotopes among different size fractions was controlled by the partitioning of particle concentrations. In the regions with salinities below 20,the partitioning of uranium-238 among different size fractions was as follows: 10~53 μm>2~10 μm>0.4~2 μm greater than above 53 μm. However,the order at the offshore station with salinities above 30 changed as follows: 0.4~2 μm>10~53 μm>2~10 μm greater than above 53 μm. The fraction of the 0.4~2 μm particles increased at the offshore station,suggesting the increased contribution of the authigenic uranium. The activity ratio of uranium-234 to uranium-238 in the dissolved phases,including the low molecular mass fraction and the colloidal fraction,was larger than unity,showing the occurrence of excess uranium-234. In contrast,the activity ratio of uranium-234 to uranium-238 in all size fractions of the particulate phase was close to the equilibrium value (1.0). The observed different values of the activity ratio of uranium-234 to uranium-238 in the dissolved phase and the particulate phase were ascribed to the preferential leaching of uranium-234 and the small amount of the leaching particulate uranium. The mass ratio of thorium-232 to uranium-238 also showed different values between the dissolved phase and the particulate phase.
