1On COVID-19-safety ranking of seats in intercontinental commercial aircrafts:A preliminary multiphysics computational perspective显示文摘The evolution of coronavirus disease(COVID-19)into a pandemic has severely hampered the usage of public transit systems.In a post-COVID-19 world,we may see an increased reliance on autonomous cars and personal rapid transit(PRT)systems,with inherent physical distancing,over buses,trains and aircraft for intracity,intercity,and interstate travel.However,air travel would continue to be the dominant mode of intercontinental transportation for humans.In this study,we perform a comprehensive computational analysis,using ANSYS Fluent,of typical intercontinental aircraft ventilation systems to determine the seat where environmental factors are most conducive to human comfort with regards to air quality,protection from orally or nasally released pollutants such as CO_(2)and coronavirus,and thermal comfort levels.Air velocity,temperature,and air pollutant concentration emitted from the nose/mouth of fellow travelers are considered for both Boeing and Airbus planes.In each plane,first class,business class,and economy class sections were analyzed.We present conclusions as to which is the optimum seat in each section of each plane and provide the data of the environmental conditions to support our inferences.The findings may be used by the general public to decide which seat to occupy for their next intercontinental flight.Alternatively,the commercial airliners can use such a model to plan the occupancy of the aircraft on long-duration intercontinental flights(viz.,Airbus A380 and Boeing B747).Prathamesh S.Desai Nihar Sawant Andrew Keene 2021Building Simulation2021,14,6:2

7Clinical outcomes for nasopharyngeal cancer with intracranial extension after taxanebased induction chemotherapy and concurrent chemo-radiotherapy in the modern era显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the survival outcomes for a cohort of nasopharyngeal cancer with intracranial extension(ICE)treated with induction chemotherapy(ICT)followed by chemo-intensity-modulated radiotherapy(CTRT)at a tertiary cancer center.Methods:We retrospectively analyzed 45 patients with histologically proven,non-metastatic NPC with ICE treated at our institute between October 2008 and October 2016.Patients were classified as minor ICE or major ICE,based on the extent of ICE.All the patients received 2-3 cycles of a taxane-based ICT regimen followed by CTRT.Radiotherapy was delivered with'riskadapted'intensity-modulated radiotherapy(IMRT)technique in all patients.Results:After a median follow up of 45 months(range:8-113 months),the estimated 5-year DFS,LRFS,DMFS,and OS of the entire cohort was 58%,82%,67%and 74%respectively.On multivariate analysis,histological subtype was an independent predictor of LRFS,and age was an independent predictor of DFS.The extent of ICE showed only a trend towards worse DFS(P=0.06).None of the factors significantly predicted for DMFS or OS.Gender,N-stage,and response to ICT did not significantly affect any of the outcomes.Grade 2 or worse subcutaneous fibrosis was seen in 22%of patients and grade 2 or worse xerostomia was seen in 24%of patients at last follow up.Thirty-three percent of the patients developed clinical hypothyroidism at last follow up.None of the patients experienced any neurological or vascular complications.Conclusions:Taxane-based induction chemotherapy followed by chemo-intensity modulated radiotherapy resulted in excellent locoregional control and survival with acceptable toxicities in patients of nasopharyngeal cancer with intracranial extension.Distant metastasis continues to be the predominant problem in these patients.Sarbani Ghosh-Laskar Avinash Pilar Carlton Johnny Kumar Prabhash Amit Joshi Jai Prakash Agarwal Tejpal Gupta Ashwini Budrukkar Vedang Murthy Monali Swain Vanita Noronha Vijay Maruthi Patil Prathamesh Pai Deepa Nair Devendra Arvind Chaukar Shivakumar Thiagarajan Gouri Pantvaidya Anuja Deshmukh Pankaj Chaturvedi Sudhir Nair Anil D’Cruz 2020World Journal of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery2020,6,1:1

10A systematic survey on deep learning and machine learning approaches of fake news detection in the pre-and post-COVID-19 pandemic显示文摘Purpose-The rapid advancement of technology in online communication and fingertip access to the Internet has resulted in the expedited dissemination of fake news to engage a global audience at a low cost by news channels,freelance reporters and websites.Amid the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic,individuals are inflicted with these false and potentially harmful claims and stories,which may harm the vaccination process.Psychological studies reveal that the human ability to detect deception is only slightly better than chance;therefore,there is a growing need for serious consideration for developing automated strategies to combat fake news that traverses these platforms at an alarming rate.This paper systematically reviews the existing fake news detection technologies by exploring various machine learning and deep learning techniques pre-and post-pandemic,which has never been done before to the best of the authors’knowledge.Design/methodology/approach-The detailed literature review on fake news detection is divided into three major parts.The authors searched papers no later than 2017 on fake news detection approaches on deep learning andmachine learning.The paperswere initially searched through theGoogle scholar platform,and they have been scrutinized for quality.The authors kept“Scopus”and“Web of Science”as quality indexing parameters.All research gaps and available databases,data pre-processing,feature extraction techniques and evaluationmethods for current fake news detection technologies have been explored,illustrating them using tables,charts and trees.Findings-The paper is dissected into two approaches,namely machine learning and deep learning,to present a better understanding and a clear objective.Next,the authors present a viewpoint on which approach is better and future research trends,issues and challenges for researchers,given the relevance and urgency of a detailed and thorough analysis of existing models.This paper also delves into fake new detection during COVID-19,and it can be inferred that research and modeling are shifting toward the use of ensemble approaches.Originality/value-The study also identifies several novel automated web-based approaches used by researchers to assess the validity of pandemic news that have proven to be successful,although currently reported accuracy has not yet reached consistent levels in the real world.Rajshree Varma Yugandhara Verma Priya Vijayvargiya Prathamesh P.Churi 2021International Journal of Intelligent Computing and Cybernetics2021,14,4:1
11Semi-Supervised Machine Learning for Fault Detection and Diagnosis of a Rooftop Unit显示文摘Most heating,ventilation,and air-conditioning(HVAC)systems operate with one or more faults that result in increased energy consumption and that could lead to system failure over time.Today,most building owners are performing reactive maintenance only and may be less concerned or less able to assess the health of the system until catastrophic failure occurs.This is mainly because the building owners do not previously have good tools to detect and diagnose these faults,determine their impact,and act on findings.Commercially available fault detection and diagnostics(FDD)tools have been developed to address this issue and have the potential to reduce equipment downtime,energy costs,maintenance costs,and improve occupant comfort and system reliability.However,many of these tools require an in-depth knowledge of system behavior and thermodynamic principles to interpret the results.In this paper,supervised and semi-supervised machine learning(ML)approaches are applied to datasets collected from an operating system in the field to develop new FDD methods and to help building owners see the value proposition of performing proactive maintenance.The study data was collected from one packaged rooftop unit(RTU)HVAC system running under normal operating conditions at an industrial facility in Connecticut.This paper compares three different approaches for fault classification for a real-time operating RTU using semi-supervised learning,achieving accuracies as high as 95.7%using few-shot learning.Mohammed G.Albayati Jalal Faraj Amy Thompson Prathamesh Patil Ravi Gorthala Sanguthevar Rajasekaran 2023Big Data Mining and Analytics2023,6,2:0
12Empirical study of gum ghatti as an alternative thickening agent in hydraulic fracturing显示文摘Gum ghatti(anogeissus latifolia)is being widely used as an emulsifier,thickener,stabilizer in food,pharmaceutical,and allied industries due to its shelf life,tolerance of heat,and pH stability.Considering the oil&gas industry application,it is ideal for a hydraulic fracturing fluid additive as a direct replacement for guar gum.Basically,unlike guar gum,it contains less residual hull and it is suitable for low permeability unconventional reservoir;mainly shale gas reservoir,where permeability counts trivial in amount.The polymer of ghatti aid exceptional rheological properties and help to produce higher molecular weight polymer;which has excellent proppant carrying capacity and fracture propagation.In this paper,the experimental study has been carried out in two different phases.This was achieved through optimization and characterization of hydraulic fracturing fluid which was embedded with gum matrices.In Phase-I,the study was carried out by using response surface methodology(RSM).Wherein,the relation between several explanatory and response variables have been measured.In Phase-II,the characterization was done by using a scanning electron microscope(SEM),differential scanning calorimeter(DSC),thermo-gravimetric analysis(TGA)and also,Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR).This experimental study will potentially benefit for development of a new hydraulic fracturing fluid.Where gum ghatti observed as a satisfactory alternative agent for guar gum.Prathamesh Sapale Vishesh Bhadariya Sandeep Singh Rana Tondepu Subbaiah Mohammad Vaseem Chavhan Parinder Kaur 2022Petroleum2022,8,4:0
