2Influence of particle size and salinity on adsorption of basic dyes by agricultural waste: dried Seagrape (Caulerpa lentillifera)显示文摘Green macroalga Caulerpa lentillifera was found to have reasonable adsorption capacity for basic dyes, Astrazon Blue FGRL (AB), Astrazon Red GTLN (AR), and Astrazon Golden Yellow GL-E (AY). The initial dye concentration was in the range of 100–1,800 mg/L. The dried algal sorbent was ground and sieved into 3 sizes: S (0.1–0.84 mm), M (0.84–2.0 mm), and L sizes (larger than 2.0 mm). For all conditions examined in this work (at 25°C in batch systems), the adsorption reached equilibrium within the first hour. The kinetic data corresponded well with the pseudo second order kinetic model where the rate constant, k2, decreased as the sorbent size increased for all dyes. The adsorption isotherms followed both Langmuir and Freundlich models. Among three sorbent sizes, S size gave the highest adsorption capacity followed by M and L sizes. A reduction of sorbent size increased the specific surface area for mass transfer, and also increased the total pore volume, thus providing more active sites for adsorption. The adsorption of AB was adversely influenced by the protonation of algal surface at low pH. On the other hand, the adsorption of AR and AY could be due to weak electrostatic interaction, which was not significantly affected by pH. Increasing salinity of the system caused a decrease in adsorption capacity possibly due to the competition between Na+ and the dye cations for the binding sites on algal surface. 3Immunological evidence of Zika virus transmission in Thailand显示文摘Objective: To identify immunological evidence of Zika virus transmission in Thailand. Methods: To undertake a preliminary serosurvey of possible exposure to Zika virus, 21 serum samples from cohort of acute undifferentiated fever patients were examined for immunoreactivity to Zika, Dengue, Japanese encephalitis and Chikungunya envelope antigens by Western blot analysis. Results: Twenty of the 21 serum samples showed immunoreactivity to at least one of the antigens, with seven samples showing immunoreactivity to all antigens. Of particular note, two serum samples showed immunoreactivity only to Zika envelope antigen, with no immunoreactivity to other envelope antigens. 4Batch studies of adsorption of copper and lead on activated carbon from Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehn. bark显示文摘Powdered activated carbon (PAC) prepared from Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehn. bark was tested for its adsorption capacity for Cu(Ⅱ) and Pb(Ⅱ). The experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of pH, contact time, initial metal concentration, and temperature. The best adsorption of both Cu(Ⅱ) and Pb(Ⅱ) occurred at pH 5, where the adsorption reached equilibrium within 45 min for the whole range of initial heavy metal concentrations (0.1-10 mmol/L). The adsorption kinetics was found to follow the pseudo-second order model where equilibrium adsorption capacities and adsorption rate constants increased with initial heavy metal concentrations. The adsorption isotherm followed Langmuir better than Freundlich models within the temperature range (25-60°C). The maximum adsorption capacities (qm) occurred at 60°C, where qm for Cu(Ⅱ) and Pb(Ⅱ) were 0.85 and 0.89 mmol/g, respectively. The enthalpies of Cu(Ⅱ) and Pb(Ⅱ) adsorption were 43.26 and 58.77 kJ/mol, respectively. 5Fe基催化剂物相演变及CO_(2)加氢反应性能影响显示文摘本研究使用原位X射线衍射(in-situ XRD)技术,对Na/Fe_(2)O_(3)样品的还原及活化过程进行了原位表征,探究了Na含量、预处理气氛对Fe基催化剂物相的影响,并研究了铁氧化合物与铁碳化合物在CO_(2)加氢过程中的协同作用。结合H_(2)-TPR、CO+H_(2)-TPSR-MS手段对催化剂样品进行了物化性质表征。结果表明,还原气氛为H_(2)时,Na助剂修饰会抑制Fe_(2)O_(3)催化剂还原;然而还原气氛为合成气(CO/H_(2)=1∶2)时,适量Na助剂会降低还原和活化温度,提高碳化铁含量。采用H_(2)和合成气分别对Fe基催化剂进行还原处理,低碳烯烃选择性由0.3%提高至20.2%,CO_(2)转化率由7.3%提升至25.8%;与纯Fe_(2)O_(3)相比,Na修饰后催化剂Fe_(5)C_(2)含量从8.5%提高到38.4%,C_(5+)选择性由7.8%提升至37.0%,CH_(4)选择性从43.2%降至14.9%。催化剂通过调节还原气氛和Na助剂修饰量有效调控Fe_(3)O_(4)和Fe_(5)C_(2)物相比例,提升Fe基催化剂CO_(2)加氢活性和产物选择性。梁洁 王欣宇 高新华 田菊梅 段斌 张伟 江永军 Prasert Reubroycharoen 张建利 赵天生 2022燃料化学学报2022,50,12:3
6Design of porous Eudragit^(■)L beads for floating drug delivery by wax removal technique显示文摘The aim of this study was to design porous matrix beads for floating drug delivery using enteric polymer, Eudragit~? L and various amounts of waxes(0, 0.1, 0.5, 1, 2 and 3% w/w). In this study, wax containing cetyl alcohol and white petrolatum was utilized to produce pores using a wax removal technique. To prepare the beads, Eudragit~? L, metronidazole and wax were dissolved in acetone and then extruded into dichloromethane. The effect of the amount of wax on the floating and drug release behavior of the Eudragit~? L beads was determined.After the extruded product was immersed in dichloromethane, wax dissolved out from the formed beads, resulting in a porous structure. The prepared beads could float in simulated gastric fluid for more than 10 hours. Different amounts of wax had an effect on the drug release. We found that when the percentage of wax increased, the drug release was higher while the beads remained floating. The results suggest that Eudragit~? 8Hexadecanoic acid-enriched extract of Halymenia durvillei induces apoptotic and autophagic death of human triple-negative breast cancer cells by upregulating ER stress显示文摘Objective:To investigate the effect of the hexane solvent fraction of Halymenia durvillei(HDHE)on triple-negative breast cancer.Methods:The phytochemical profile of HDHE was investigated by GC-MS.The cytotoxicity of HDHE against MDA-MB-231 cells was determined.The apoptotic and autophagic effects of HDHE were analyzed.The expression of molecular markers controlling apoptosis,autophagy,DNA damage,and endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress was determined.Results:HDHE contains a mixture of fatty acids,mainly hexadecanoic acid.HDHE at a cytotoxic concentration induced apoptotic death of MDA-MB-231 cells through mitochondrial membrane dysfunction,and induction of apoptosis markers,and increased the expression of proteins related to DNA damage response.HDHE also induced the expression of LC-3,a marker of autophagic cell death at a cytotoxic concentration.Moreover,HDHE modulated the expression of ER stress genes.Conclusions:The hexadecanoic acid-enriched extract of Halymenia durvillei promotes apoptosis and autophagy of human triple-negative breast cancer cells.This extract may be further explored as an anticancer agent for triple-negative breast cancer.Kant Sangpairoj Rapeewan Settacomkul Tanapan Siangcham Krai Meemon Nakorn Niamnont Nilubon Sornkaew Montakan Tamtin Prasert Sobhon Pornpun Vivithanaporn 2022Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2022,12,3:2
9Viral evolution and transmission effectiveness显示文摘Different viruses transmit among hosts with different degrees of efficiency. A basic reproductive number(R0) indicates an average number of cases getting infected from a single infected case. R0 can vary widely from a little over 1 to more than 10. Low R0 is usually found among rapidly evolving viruses that are often under a strong positive selection pressure, while high R0 is often found among viruses that are highly stable. The reason for the difference between antigenically diverse viruses with low R0, such as influenza A virus, and antigenically stable viruses with high R0, such as measles virus, is not clear and has been a subject of great interest. Optimization of transmissibility fitness considering intra-host dynamics and inter-host transmissibility was shown to result in strategies for tradeoff between transmissibility and diversity. The nature of transmission, targeting either a na?ve children population or an adult population with partial immunity, has been proposed as a contributing factor for the difference in the strategies used by the two groups of viruses. The R0 determines the levels of threshold heard immunity. Lower R0 requires lowerherd immunity to terminate an outbreak. Therefore, it can be assumed that the outbreak saturation can be reached more readily when the R0 is low. In addition, one may assume that when the outbreak saturation is reached, herd immunity may provide a strong positive selection pressure that could possibly result in an occurrence of escape mutants. Studies of these hypotheses will give us an important insight into viral evolution.
