| 4 | Prediction and Expression Analysis of miRNAs Associated with Heat Stress in Oryza sativa显示文摘Computational prediction of potential microRNAs(miRNAs) and their target genes was performed to identify the miRNAs and genes associated with temperature response in rice. The data of temperature-responsive miRNAs of Arabidopsis, and miRNAs and the whole genome data of rice were used to predict potential miRNAs in Oryza sativa involved in temperature response. A total of 55 miRNAs were common in both the species, and 27 miRNAs were predicted at the first time in rice. Target genes were searched for these 27 miRNAs in rice genome following stringent criteria. Real time PCR based on expression analysis of nine miRNAs showed that majority of the miRNAs were down regulated under heat stress for rice cultivar Nagina 22. Furthermore, miR169, miR1884 and miR160 showed differential expression in root and shoot tissues of rice. | 6 | Anti-inflammatory activity of the leaf extacts of Gendarussa vulgaris Nees显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the anti-inflammatory property of the leaf exacts of Gendarussa vulgaris(G.vulgarix) Nees.Methods:G.vulgarix Nees of the family Apocynaceae is a medium sized tree grown in semishade or no shade and is common in the Ernad and Nilambur taluks of Kerala. Various parts of this plant have been used in the treatment of ulcers,sores,inflammation, dyspepsia,healing of wounds,etc.The present study aimed at the evaluation of anti-inflammatory property of the aqueous and alcoholic extracts of the leaves by both in vitro and in vivo methods. In vitro method was estimated by human red blood cell membrane stabilisation(HRBC) method and in vivo method was estimated on the carrageenan induced paw oedima.Results:Both the methods showed significant anti-inflammatory property of the different extracts tested. | 8 | Computational Study of Performance Characteristics for Truncated Conical Aerospike Nozzles显示文摘Aerospike nozzles are advanced rocket nozzles that can maintain its aerodynamic efficiency over a wide range of altitudes. It belongs to class of altitude compensating nozzles. A vehicle with an aerospike nozzle uses less fuel at low altitudes due to its altitude adaptability,where most missions have the greatest need for thrust. Aerospike nozzles are better suited to Single Stage to Orbit(SSTO) missions compared to conventional nozzles. In the current study, the flow through 20% and 40% aerospike nozzle is analyzed in detail using computational fluid dynamics technique. Steady state analysis with implicit formulation is carried out. Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes equations are solved with the Spalart-Allmaras turbulence model. The results are compared with experimental results from previous work.
