1Latitudinal variations of CPI values of long-chain n-alkanes in surface soils:Evidence for CPI as a proxy of aridity显示文摘Carbon preference index (CPI) of long-chain n-alkanes preserved in surface soil increases gradually from southeastern China to the north margin of Loess Plateau.Along this latitudinal transect,the CPI value correlates to relative humidity,precipitation,and temperature with a negative linear relationship,respectively,whereas the correlation of CPI to temperature is relatively weak.In the Wuyi,Shennongjia,and Tianshan Mountains,CPI values do not change systemically with altitude increasing (or temperature decreasing).However,mean value of CPI for the individual mountain increases in turn from the humid mountain to the arid.These results jointly suggest that aridity (or humidity) is a dominate climate factor in altering soil CPI value.High CPI values of geological records therefore indicate the arid paleoclimate.Though long-chain n-alkanes in soil are derived mainly from leaf wax of terrestrial vascular plants,the regular latitudinal variations of soil CPI might not be caused by the change of vegetation.We speculate that increased long-chain n-alkanes from microbes and/or enhanced biodegradation in the humid climate lead to the decrease of soil CPI.LUO Pan PENG PingAn LV HouYuan ZHENG Zhuo WANG Xu 2012Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,7:12
2High precision topographic data on Lop Nor basin's Lake 'Great Ear' ? and the timing of its becoming a dry salt lake显示文摘High precision elevation measurements using DGPS were carried out along three representative tran- sects for the 'Great Ear' area, a dry salt lake within the Lop Nor basin. Results indicate that the Lop Nor basin is only 5.2 m deep and its lowest point occurs at the center of the 'Great Ear'. In addition, the basin is asymmetric - steeper in the southwest (0.19‰) and gentler in the northeast (0.09‰). Points along the same 'Great Ear' ring were found to have an identical elevation value, but different when from different ones (lower towards the center). The spacing of the 'Great Ear' rings was found to be closely related with the surface steepness. The closer the 'Great Ear' rings are spaced, the steeper the ground surface, and vice versa. These findings support the argument that the 'Great Ear' rings are the former shoreline trails left behind by Lop Nor water during the last few episodes of recession towards its total dry up. A comprehensive analysis of the high precision elevation data, historical accounts, aerial and satellite photographs and imagery, and official topographic maps of the study area suggests that the 'Great Ear' area in the Lop Nor basin was incorrectly mapped as being covered by a great body of water on the 1963 topographic maps. A re-interpretation of the 1958 aerial photographs and newer remote sensing imagery indicated that the 'Great Ear' ring structure was already in place in 1958 and it continued to appear on the subsequent remote sensing data without any major changes. 3Branched glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraethers and paleoenvironmental reconstruction in Zoigê peat sediments during the last 150 years显示文摘Branched glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraethers (GDGTs) were analyzed in peat samples taken from the Zoigê grassland, located on the eastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. The mean annual air temperature (MAAT) and pH in the 210 Pb-dating peat core were reconstructed based on the cyclization of branched tetraethers (CBT) and methylation of branched tetraethers (MBT) indices for the last 150 years. The results showed that the MAAT and pH values involved three stages of variation over the last 150 years. The pH was stable and the MAAT decreased slowly by about 1°C from 1851 to 1927. The pH decreased rapidly by 0.6 and the MAAT decreased significantly by 2.5°C between 1927 and 1979. The pH and MAAT increased by 0.8 and 5°C, respectively, since the 1980s. The reconstructed temperatures correspond well to the mean winter temperatures reconstructed using tree-rings from the Jiuzhaigou Valley, situated at the boundary between the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and the Sichuan Basin. The estimated MAAT was similar to the temperatures reconstructed using tree-rings, indicating an increasing trend, as shown by local instrumental records from 1957 to 2001. 4A general model of fatigue crack growth under variable amplitude loading显示文摘A general model of fatigue crack growth(FCG) in ductile alloys under variable amplitude loading is proposed based on the passivation-lancet theory and the crack closure concept.The model can capture the interactions of single cycle overloading and underloading,sequential loading and spectrum loading effectively.Moreover,the retardation effect due to overloads and the acceleration effect due to underloading can be described quantitatively by a transition function of crack opening stress.The fatigue test data in 2024-T351,2024-T3 and 7075-T6 aluminum alloys under different types of variable amplitude loading and spectrum loading are used to validate the general model and the predictions by the general model are in good agreement with the test data.Furthermore,the predictions are also compared with the existing models,including FASTRAN,AFGROW and the state-space model,and the comparison results show that the general model predicts the FCG process more accurately.LIU JianTao DU PingAn ZHANG ZhenYu 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,3:6

6Carbon isotopic compositions of 1,2,3,4-tetramethylbenzene in marine oil asphaltenes from the Tarim Basin:Evidence for the source formed in a strongly reducing environment显示文摘Although 1-alkyl-2,3,6-trimethylbenzenes and a high relative amount of 1,2,3,4-tetramethylbenzene have been detected in marine oils and oil asphaltenes from Tabei uplift in the Tarim Basin, their bio-logical sources are not determined. This paper deals with the molecular characteristics of typical ma-rine oil asphaltenes from Tabei and Tazhong uplift in the Tarim Basin and the stable carbon isotopic signatures of individual compounds in the pyrolysates of these asphaltenes using flash pyrolysis-gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer (PY-GC-MS) and gas chromatograph-stable isotope ratio mass spectrometer (GC-C-IRMS), respectively. Relatively abundant 1,2,3,4-tetramethylbenzene is detected in the pyrolysates of these marine oil asphaltenes from the Tarim Basin. δ 13C values of 1,2,3,4-tetrame-thylbenzene in the pyrolysates of oil asphaltenes vary from-19.6‰ to-24.0‰, while those of n-alkanes in the pyrolysates show a range from-33.2‰ to-35.1‰. The 1,2,3,4-tetramethylbenzene in the pyro-lysates of oil asphaltenes proves to be significantly enriched in 13C relative to n-alkanes in the pyro-lysates and oil asphaltenes by 10.8‰―15.2‰ and 8.4‰―13.4‰, respectively. This result indicates a contribution from photosynthetic green sulfur bacteria Chlorobiaceae to relatively abundant 1,2,3,4-tetramethylbenzene in marine oil asphaltenes from the Tarim Basin. 7Flame retarded polymer nanocomposites: Development,trend and future perspective显示文摘Polymer nanocomposites are a new class of flame retarded materials which have attracted much attention and considered as a revolutionary new flame retardant approach.A very small amount of nano flame retardants (normally < 5 wt%) can significantly reduce the heat release rate (HRR) and smoke emission (SEA) during the combustion of polymer materials.Moreover,the addition of nano flame retardants can also improve the mechanical properties of polymer materials compared with the deterioration of traditional flame retardants.This paper reviews the recent development in the flame retardant field of polymer nanocomposites and also introduces the related research in our lab.The challenges and problems are discussed and the future development of flame retarded polymer nanocomposites is prospected.MA HaiYun SONG PingAn FANG ZhengPing 2011Science China Chemistry2011,54,2:4

11Comparative study of proteome between primary cancer and hepatic metastatic tumor in colorectal cancer显示文摘AIM: To identify the differential proteins associated with colorectal cancer genesis and hepatic metastasis.METHODS: Hydrophobic protein samples were extracted from normal colorectal mucosa, primary cancer lesion and hepatic metastatic foci of colorectal cancer. With twodimensional electrophoresis and image analysis,differentially expressed protein spots were detected, and the proteins were identified by matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight-mass spectrometry and peptide mass fingerprint analysis.RESULTS: Significant alterations of the proteins in number and expression levels were discovered in primary cancer and hepatic metastatic foci, the expression of a number of proteins was lost in 25-40 ku, but protein spots was increased in 14-21ku, compared with normal mucosa. Nine differentially expressed protein spots were identified. Three proteins expressed in normal mucosa, but lost in primary cancer and hepatic metastasis, were recognized as calmodulin, ribonuclease 6 precursor and mannosidase-α.Proapolipoprotein was expressed progressively from normal mucosa to primary cancer and hepatic metastasis. The differentially expressed protein of beta-globin was found in normal mucosa and hepatic metastatic tumor, but lost in primary cancer lesion. Cdc 42, a GTP-binding protein, was identified in hepatic metastasis. The protein spots of C4 from primary cancer, M7 and M9 from hepatic metastasis had less homology with the proteins in database.CONCLUSION: Variations of hydrophobic protein expression in colorectal cancer initiation and hepatic metastasis are significant and can be observed with two-dimensional electrophoresis. The expression of calmodulin, ribonuclease 6 precursor and mannosidase-α is lost but the expression of proapolipoprotein is enhanced which is associated with colorectal cancer genesis and hepatic metastasis. Cdc 42 and beta-globin are expressed abnormally in hepatic metastasis. 13Fire Intumescent,High-Temperature Resistant,Mechanically Flexible Graphene Oxide Network for Exceptional Fire Shielding and Ultra-Fast Fire Warning显示文摘Smart fire alarm sensor(FAS)materials with mechanically robust,excellent flame retardancy as well as ultra-sensitive temperature-responsive capability are highly attractive platforms for fire safety application.However,most reported FAS materials can hardly provide sensitive,continuous and reliable alarm signal output due to their undesirable temperature-responsive,flame-resistant and mechanical performances.To overcome these hurdles,herein,we utilize the multi-amino molecule,named HCPA,that can serve as triple-roles including cross-linker,fire retardant and reducing agent for decorating graphene oxide(GO)sheets and obtaining the GO/HCPA hybrid networks.Benefiting from the formation of multi-interactions in hybrid network,the optimized GO/HCPA network exhibits significant increment in mechanical strength,e.g.,tensile strength and toughness increase of~2.3and~5.7 times,respectively,compared to the control one.More importantly,based on P and N doping and promoting thermal reduction effect on GO network,the excellent flame retardancy(withstanding~1200℃flame attack),ultra-fast fire alarm response time(~0.6 s)and ultra-long alarming period(>600 s)are obtained,representing the best comprehensive performance of GO-based FAS counterparts.Furthermore,based on GO/HCPA network,the fireproof coating is constructed and applied in polymer foam and exhibited exceptional fire shielding performance.This work provides a new idea for designing and fabricating desirable FAS materials and fireproof coatings.Cheng-Fei Cao Bin Yu Zuan-Yu Chen Yong-Xiang Qu Yu-Tong Li Yong-Qian Shi Zhe-Wen Ma Feng-Na Sun Qing-Hua Pan Long-Cheng Tang Pingan Song Hao Wang 2022Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,6:3
14Recent advances in fire-retardant carbon-based polymeric nanocomposites through fighting free radicals显示文摘Polymeric materials are ubiquitously utilized in modern society and continuously improve quality of life.Unfortunately,most of them suffer from intrinsic flammability,significantly limiting their practical applications.Fundamentally,free-radical reaction is a critical“trigger”for their thermal pyrolysis and following combustion process regardless of the anaerobic thermal pyrolysis in the condensed phase or aerobic combustion of polymers in the gaseous phase.The addition of free radical scavengers represents a promising and effective means to enhance the fire safety of polymeric materials.This review aims to offer a state-of-the-art overview on the creation of fire-retardant polymeric nanocomposites by adding fire retardants with an ability to trap free radicals.Their specific modes of action(condensed-phase action,gaseous-phase action,and dual-phases action)and performances in some typical polymers are reviewed and discussed in detail.Following this,some key challenges associated with these free-radical capturers are discussed,and design strategies are also proposed.This review provides some insights into the modes of action of free radical capturing agents and paves the avenue for the design of advanced fire-retardant polymeric nanocomposites for expanded real-world applications in industries.Ting Sai Shiya Ran Zhenghong Guo Pingan Song Zhengping Fang 2022SusMat2022,2,4:2

16Dynamical Stability of Cantilevered Pipe Conveying Fluid with Inerter-Based Dynamic Vibration Absorber显示文摘Cantilevered pipe conveying fluid may become unstable and flutter instability would occur when the velocity of the fluid flow in the pipe exceeds a critical value.In the present study,the theoretical model of a cantilevered fluid-conveying pipe attached by an inerter-based dynamic vibration absorber(IDVA)is proposed and the stability of this dynamical system is explored.Based on linear governing equations of the pipe and the IDVA,the effects of damping coefficient,weight,inerter,location and spring stiffness of the IDVAon the critical flow velocities of the pipe system is examined.It is shown that the stability of the pipe may be significantly affected by the IDVA.In many cases,the stability of the cantilevered pipe can be enhanced by designing the parameter values of the IDVA.By solving nonlinear governing equations of the dynamical system,the nonlinear oscillations of the pipe with IDVA for sufficiently high flow velocity beyond the critical value are determined,showing that the oscillation amplitudes of the pipe can also be suppressed to some extent with a suitable design of the IDVA.Zhiyuan Liu Xin Tan Xiaobo Liu Pingan Chen Ke Yi Tianzhi Yang Qiao Ni Lin Wang 2020Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2020,,11:2
17Silicone/graphene oxide co-cross-linked aerogels with wide-temperature mechanical flexibility,super-hydrophobicity and flame resistance for exceptional thermal insulation and oil/water separation显示文摘Development of multifunctional and high-performance silicone aerogel is highly required for various promising applications.However,unstable cross-linking structure and poor thermal stability of silicone network as well as complicated processing restrict the practical use significantly.Herein,we report a facile and versatile ambient drying strategy to fabricate lightweight,wide-temperature flexible,super-hydrophobic and flame retardant silicone composite aerogels modified with low-content functionalized graphene oxide(FGO).After optimizing silane molecules,incorporation ofγ-aminopropyltriethoxysilane functionalization is found to promote the dispersion stability of GO during the hydrolysis-polymerization process and thus produce the formation of unique strip-like co-cross-linked network.Consequently,the aerogels containing∼2.0 wt%FGO not only possess good cyclic compressive stability under strain of 70%for 100 cycles and outstanding mechanical reliability in wide temperature range(from liquid nitrogen to 350℃),but also display excellent flame resistance and super-hydrophobicity.Further,the optimized silicone/FGO aerogels display exceptional thermal insulating performance superior to pure aerogel and hydrocarbon polymer foams,and they also show efficient oil absorption and separation capacity for var-ious solvents and oil from water.Clearly,this work provides a new route for the rational design and development of advanced silicone composite aerogels for multifunctional applications.Zhao-Hui Zhang Zuan-Yu Chen Yi-Hao Tang Yu-Tong Li Dequan Ma Guo-Dong Zhang Rabah Boukherroub Cheng-Fei Cao Li-Xiu Gong Pingan Song Kun Cao Long-Cheng Tang 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,19:2
18Self-sensing actuators with programmable actuation performances for soft robots显示文摘Designing soft robots that are able to perceive unstructured,dynamic environments and their deformations has been a long-term goal.Previously reported self-sensing soft actuators were mostly constructed via integrating separate actuators and sensors.The actuation performances and the sensing reliability are affected owing to the unmatched materials and weak connections.Realizing a seamless integration of soft actuators and sensors remains a grand challenge.Here,we report a fabrication strategy to endow soft actuators with sensing capability and programmable actuation performances.The foam inside the actuator functions as actuator and sensor simultaneously,effectively addressing the conformability and connection reliability issues that existed in current self-sensing actuators.The actuators are lightweight(a decrease of 58%in weight),powerful(lifting a load of 433 times of its own weight),and versatile(coupling twisting and contraction motions).Furthermore,the actuators are able to detect multiple physical stimuli with high reliability,demonstrating their exteroception and proprioception capability.Two self-sensing soft robotic prototypes,including a bionic bicep and a bionic neck,are constructed to illustrate their multifunctionality.Our study opens up new possibilities for the design of soft actuators and has promising potential in a variety of applications,ranging from human-robot interaction,soft orthotics,to wearable robotics.JIAO ZhongDong YE ZhiQiu ZHU PingAn TANG Wei YANG HuaYong ZOU Jun 2023Science China(Technological Sciences)2023,66,11:2
19Sedative and hypnotic effect of freeze-dried paeoniflorin and Sini San freeze-dried powder in pentobarbital sodium-induced mice显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the sedative and hypnotic activity of paeoniflorin and freeze-dried Sini San powder on mice and provide a reliable method for determining the pharmacodynamic material basis of Sini San.METHODS: Male adult mice weighing 20-22 g were used in this study. Three experiments were carried out. Synergism with pentobarbital was used as an index for hypnotic effect. Loss of the righting reflex was used to determine the start of sleep.Sleep latency and sleeping time were recorded in each experiment.RESULTS: The coefficient of variation of the suprathreshold dose(55 mg/kg) was significantly lower than that of the threshold dose. The sleep latency of mice was significantly decreased, and the sleeping time of mice was significantly prolonged. 20Superhydrophobic self-extinguishing cotton fabrics for electromagnetic interference shielding and human motion detection显示文摘Multifunctional intelligent fire-safe cotton fabric promises next-generation fire-fighting uniform and sen-sor applications.However,cotton fabrics’hygroscopicity and intrinsic flammability significantly impede their potential applications in industries.Herein,we report a superhydrophobic fireproof cotton fabric(PEI-APP-PEI-MXene)generated via sequential layer-by-layer deposition of polyethyleneimine(PEI),am-monium polyphosphate(APP),and titanium carbide(MXene),followed by hydrophobic treatment with silicone elastomer.Compared to untreated cotton,the treated cotton fabric with 10 polymolecular layers exhibits∼43%and∼42%reductions in the peak heat release rate and total heat release,respectively,a desired UL-94 V-0 rating,and a high limiting oxygen index(LOI)value of 39.5 vol.%.In addition to that,the treated fabrics displayed improved electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding and motion-sensing abilities.The presented work provides a facile and effective surface modification approach to generate multifunctional cotton fabrics with promising practical applications.Lei Liu Zhewen Ma Menghe Zhu Lina Liu Jinfeng Dai Yongqian Shi Jiefeng Gao Toan Dinh Thanh Nguyen Long-Cheng Tang Pingan Song 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,1:2
